Chapter 33

I woke up early the next morning and successfully managed to get out of bed without waking Gabe up.

After showering, brushing my teeth and getting dressed in comfy track pants and an oversized tee shirt I went downstairs to prepare breakfast for everyone.

Normally Rose likes to make breakfast for everyone, but I really just want her to relax and settle into her new reality.

So at 6:30am I start frying bacon and buttering toast, knowing that Audrey and Leah will be up and about by about 7am.

Right on cue the duo appeared at 7am sharp as if the smell of bacon and eggs had grabbed them and forcefully pulled them into the kitchen bu their noises, still in their pyjamas.

About fifteen minutes later Jamie entered the kitchen followed shortly after by Rose and Rhys. They both looked like they'd slept really well and were nice and alert.

"How are you feeling?" I asked my new Ethereal children as I handed plates of bacon and eggs over to them. They started to devour the meal before they responded to me.

"Hungry." Came the one word reply from Rhys causing both Rose and myself to laugh at him.

"I'm actually feeling better than I ever have before." Rose confessed when her belly was feeling a little more full.

Close inspection of both of their eyes showed the green ring around the outside of their irises that marked them as successfully transitioned and now a part of my family.

"I'm glad to hear it." I told my sister. "But even though Rhys has been helping you control your Cystic Fibrosis since you met each other, I believe that I can now cure you of it for good. Are you willing to let me try?"

"Will it hurt?" Rose asked me honestly.

"I'm not sure, but I hope not." I replied as truthfully as I could. "So far my healing abilities haven't hurt anyone they've been transferred to. But I can never be 100% sure as I haven't really done it to many times."

Rose nodded at my more in depth explanation and sat there mulling it over for a couple of minutes before making her decision.

Meanwhile Rhys was on his third plate of breakfast and it didn't look like he was going to slow down anytime soon.

"Easy there tiger." I said to Rhys. "You're going to make yourself sick eating that much to fast. It will still be there in ten minutes if your still hungry."

Rhys didn't say anything but he did give me a filthy look as he slowed down on shovelling food into his mouth. Seriously, it looked like you could just back a truck of food up to this boy's mouth, put a funnel from the truck to his mouth and get the truck to raise it's trailer, Emptying it's contents into Rhys's gut, that's how fast he was eating.

"How would this work?" Rose asked me while Rhys was still eating.

"I would transfer all of my healing ability over to you and let it do it's work." I said while gathering all of my healing ability in preparation to transfer it. "Kind of like this." I said as I reached out to touch Rose and focused on transferring all of my healing powers into her.

Rose's eyes glowed green as the ring in her iris expanded to cover half of the coloured part of her eye and glowed with energy.

I'm not sure what I expected to happen as I sat there and focused on keeping the full extent of my power in Rose. But what I wasn't prepared for was when Rose's bones started to dissolve then reform, section by section. For instance when it was her hands turn they literally turned to mush as the bones dissolved then reformed perfectly as the new bones grew. The hole process took 3-4 seconds per area. It was one of the funniest and creepiest things I've ever seen.

The whole process took less than a minute and after it was finish the first thing Rose did was slap me, really fucking hard.

"Warn me before you do something like that you bitch." Rose yelled at me.

"Yea I deserved that." I admitted, it was a good intentioned action, but the execution was definitely poor. "I could have gone about that better. How are you feeling besides pissed off at me?"

"I'm feeling fantastic and no it didn't hurt, it just felt weird. But that doesn't mean you're off the hook yet young lady." Rose said while giving a look of thunder. I was so dead.

Rhys stopped eating long enough to start laughing at this point. I'm not even sure if he was laughing at what happened to his wife or the fact that she was mad at me. But it was infectious and helped to break up the tension in the room.

I couldn't help but start laughing at Rhys as he tried to continue eating while he was laughing so hard he couldn't breath. It was the funniest thing ever. Rose couldn't help herself either as her husband was acting like a crazy person.

He finally calmed down enough to speak "Fighting doesn't suit you two." He told us matter of factly. "Just promise not to do it again Violet so you can make up, please." Rose was not very happy at Rhys after that either. She shook her head at both of us before getting up and walking off.

"What?" Rhys said to me, a look of bewilderment on his face, before he went back to eating.

A few minutes later Jamie re-emerged in a suit and tie with the look of a businessman on his face.

"Violet, we need to prepare for this afternoon with Mrs Davenport." He informed me in a very monotone voice. It appears he doesn't want to do this either.

I groaned like a child before getting up to go over to Jamie so we could discuss what we needed to do.

After discussing it with Jamie for most of the morning I'd learnt that a lot of what I had to do consisted of how I presented myself. This of course meant I'd be spending a lot of the time I had left getting ready. I hated spending hours having to get ready with hair and makeup ect. The other part of presenting myself was about mannerisms, oh fun.

We decided between the two of us to only take Jamie with me simply because he's been a drone before and knows how to act the part. All the others really have no idea except maybe Audrey and it's hard to act like you have no freewill apparently.

So once we'd had an early lunch Rose helped me to get ready. It appears she'd mostly forgiven me for my earlier actions which I was grateful for.

It took three fucking hours to get ready. I had to shower, shave everywhere, do my makeup, put on my midnight blue dress and matching small heels then get my hair done. Rose helped me with the makeup and hair which I will forever be grateful for as they're the longest part.

By the end of the three hours I was both ready and pissed off. Dam being female when we have to look presentable.

Gabe, Leah and Audrey had left the house about an hour ago. Gabe's contract on her old apartment was almost up so Leah and Audrey has offered to help her clear it out.

Gabe may not have had a lot of stuff back when she was living there, but what she did have had meaning to her and she wanted to recover it. As well as clean it up for the next tenant.

Jamie came down the stairs dressed in a three piece suit and a maroon tie. It made him look dashing and the only thing missing from his look was a pocket watch.

"Are you ready Violet?" Jamie asked me as he got to the bottom of the stairs.

"No, I don't think I'm ever going to be ready." I replied. "But we don't have much choice, do we?"

"Unfortunately you're right." Jamie confirmed with a scowl. "Just try and turn down all attempts to stay late at Mrs Davenports house. The less time we're around them the less chance he have of being discovered."

"I know, I know." I complained. Not wanting to leave the house at all.

"Let's go over this one more time before we leave." Jamie told me in a worried voice. I groaned.

When we finally finished it was early evening and starting to get dark.

"Come on." I grumbled to Jamie before he could start to lecture me again. I'd gotten enough of that already and we are already late.

Jamie and I went to my Audi and drove towards Alex's parents residence. It was dark by the time we got there, but our night vision allowed us to see the property as if it were daytime.

The Davenports house turned out to be a mansion. The grounds completely enclosed by a high fence and bush so you couldn't see in. We had to buzz in at the front gate.

We drove up the circular driveway and parked right out front of the double doors, effectively blocking off anyone who wished to drop off or pick someone up. Jamie said I needed to up the attitude for my disguise as a Royal after all.

The magnificent wood double doors opened as Jamie and I approached to reveal one of the servants of the house waiting to greet us.

I was shocked to find that it was Isabella.

I greeted the girl with. "I didn't know you were Alex's servant."

It obviously managed to piss her off because she shot back. "It's Alexander to you and to answer your question, I sometimes help Mrs Davenport out when she needs it."

"Ok, have fun with that." I dismissed the conversation. It managed to get Isabella even more furious. Not that it was very hard, she seemed on edge today.

Luckily Jamie handled the girl far more smoothly than I did and before long Isabella was guiding us to a sitting room.

"Mrs Davenport will be with you shortly." Isabella informed us. "She's currently tied up with duties as the lady of the house but it shouldn't take much longer."

There was tea and biscuits on the table as Isabella left us with a stiff bow and almost ran away from us. I didn't know we bothered her so badly that she needed to run from us.

I let Jamie pour the both of us a cup of tea and we enjoyed it and the biscuits while we waited.

Thirty minutes passed like that and I was starting to get really annoyed that Cynthia hadn't shown herself yet. I could clearly hear people doing something in the backyard and servants moving around the house.

"I'm going to go find someone and find out where Cynthia is. Can you wait here in case she comes while I'm gone?" I asked Jamie.

He replied with a nod before saying. "Just be careful and don't break character while you're here."

"I won't I promise." I responded as I started to move away from Jamie and towards all the noise out the back.

I followed the sound through the rather large maze of a house until I finally found the backyard. Although backyard may be be the right word for the massive area. Grounds is probably more suited.

Even with my night vision I couldn't see anyone even though there was a lot of noise coming from this area, although the noises vanished about 10 seconds before I entered the yard.

Sweeping the yard with my enhanced vision for a second time I noticed that down near the back of the property someone had fallen over and hurt themselves.

I ran to them but I didn't use vampire speed because I had no clue how fast a Royal could run and I didn't want it to seem strange if I ran to fast or to slow.

As I got to the person I realised it was Cynthia Davenport. I instantly went on high alert. She was face down and not moving.

I got to her and flipped her over. She'd been injected with something to strip most of her vampire powers away and stabbed multiple times, although she was still alive and just conscious.

She saw me and tried to speak. Whatever she needed to say she seemed desperate, so I gently lifted her torso up into more of a sitting position to make it easier for to speak.

What she said made my blood run cold. "They know you're an Ethereal Violet. You need to run."
