The Library

(OKAY! I know it has been a while and you all have been eagerly awaiting the next chapter so here it is! Forgive me for the long wait. 🙏)

So, Aang is progressing in his earthbending training. When he stands his ground, he really becomes a menace with it. I wonder if Toph teaching him was a bad idea... Nah. She's the best there is. Though, with Spring starting a few weeks back and now being hunted down by the crazed princess of the Fire Nation AND the comet arriving at the end of Summer... Yeah, we need to get back on track.

Instead, we are in some desert with holes in the ground and Aang sitting. It's his idea of a mini-vacation. "What's out here?" Sokka asks. I cross my arms, "Hopefully somethings small." I respond. "And a lot, actually. There's hundreds of little-" "Shh! I know you can see underground, but don't ruin the surprise. Just watch." Aang interruptts her then plays a note with his flute. "Eeeh!" Awww~ It's a little furry animal. Aang plays another note and another furry creature pops out a hole a mimics the sound. "I'm putting an orchestra together." He cheers.

"Orchestra, huh? Well... La-Di-Dah." Sokka mocks. Then gets mocked by the creatures. "Pfft." I cover my mouth to keep myself from laughing out loud, "They do catch on fast." I comment. Momo dives into a hole and pops out another. Aang plays more notes as Momo tries to catch one of them animals while Katara laughs. I smile at her, this is actually really nice. Things have been hectic and we need a good laugh. (Yep. To keep us from completing breaking. 😁) "This is great and all, but don't we have more important things to worry about? We should be making plans." Sokka speaks. I think over his words and remove my hand from my mouth. "We did make plans. We're all picking mini-vacations." Toph replies.

"There's no time for vacations." Sokka argues. Well, how about breaks? "I'm learning the elements as fast as I can. I practice hard every day with Toph and Katara. I've been training my arrow off." Aang says. "Yeah. What's wrong with having a little fun in our downtime?" Katara asks Sokka as she walks over to him and Aang. "Even if you do master all of the elements, then what? It's not like we have a map of the Fire Nation. Should we just head west until we reach the Fire Lord's house?" Sokka says. "You think he would live in a house? It's more likely a palace. Correction: it is a palace." I voice. (She's got a point.)

"The point is, we need some intelligence if we're gonna win this war." Sokka states. I walk over to stand with them, "You're right, Sokka. We do need information of the Fire Nation, but we also need to take a break when we need it. So, we'll finish up our mini-vacations then we'll continue our journey. Sound good?" I state. "Okay, okay. We'll finish up then find Sokka's intelligence." Katara says. Aang and I laugh from that. "Your turn, Katara. Where would you like to go on your mini-vacation?" Aang asks as he holds up a map to her. "How about the Misty Palms Oasis? That sounds refreshing." She says.

I walk off and over to Appa as I give him a pat on his head. I stop at his eye, "You got an idea for a vacation spot, Fuzz Buzz?" I ask. He merely growls as he eats some grass. "Hmm. Doesn't look very nutritious, big guy." I take out some berries and walk over to be in front of his mouth, "Open up." He does so and I drop the berries in there, pulling out my head as he closes his mouth. "How are those?" I ask. "Mmmm." He gives me a big lick. "Ugh." I stand with salvia dripping off me. "Glad you like it." I smile. (He does~ ☺️)

"Hey, (Y/N)." I move some hair out of my face as Aang walks up, "Hey, bud." I greet, "We're going to the Mystic Palm Oasis. It's pristine and has a natural ice ground. Perfect for some refreshing." He says. I smile, "Pristine, eh? Well, let's go. After I get clean." I state. "I got it!" Aang bends wind at me and I hold my arms up. It stops and look up at my hair being all wild. I can fix it on the way, "Okay. Let's go!" I state. "Yeah!" Aang, Katara and Toph cheer. "Yay." Sokka says unenthusiastically. "Come on, Sokka. You can do better." I smirk at him as I get my hair under control.

Third Person P.O.V.

The group arrives at a sand built town which is the Mystic Palm Oasis. Though, it is not as pristine as Aang had put it as it is more rural and simple than the extravagant nature the tattooed boy described. "Must have changed ownership since I was here. Heh, heh, heh." Aang laughs embarrassed as he walks in with the others following. "We have been to worse places." (Y/N) tells him to cheer him up, finishing tying her hair into its signature braid and flips it back as the sun glistens its (H/C) hue due to Appa's saliva mixing into it a little. (Yeah. Like that one town that hates the Avatar but worshipped a tyrant.)

The group jump from a crash and look behind them to find the door in pieces on the ground. They walk by a steaming glacier, the natural ice, and soon come upon a building where people wearing beige and light clothing lean or sit against. Their faces covered which gives them a suspicious appearance along with their respected nature. The group enters the building as they move the green curtains with one man spitting, it lands between Sokka's feet and he glares at the man. The man growls while having his mouth open, showing some missing teeth. Katara pulls Sokka in but (Y/N) remains stares at the man. The man smiles but (Y/N)'s stare sharpens as her (E/C) eyes darken a little. The man's smile drops as he steps away from her.

(Y/N) relaxes her eyes and enters the building to find it is a tavern with few people in it. A man and a woman drinking with a man snoring as he takes a nap. A man sits a the bar while another, one more finely dressed and pristine than the rest of patrons while also wearing a backpack, talks to the bartender. "One mango, please." He asks. The bartender takes out twin swords to cut some ice in the shape of a bowl off then places it on a mat, he cuts some fruit hanging above and slices them up into almost mush then places it in the bowl and finally pours a liquid into it. He puts away his swords, places the drink in front of the man and adds a straw and tiny umbrella in it. The man takes it and gives the man a coin in payment.

(Y/N) whistles, "Wow. That was impressive." She comments. "I don't see anything wrong with having one of those fruity beverages while we plan our strategy." Sokka says, pushing the others aside as he hurries over. "Excuse me." He says to the bartender. The backpack man turns but accidentally bumps into Aang and spills his drink on him. "No worries. I clean up east." He tells the man. He holds his fists together as he bends air outwards to dry himself. The backpack man gasps, "You're a living relic." He says. "Thanks. I try." Aang says. "Though, he shouldn't have to." (Y/N) states as she places a hand on his head and looks at the man closely. (Yeah, they are not good at hiding.)

"An air nomad right in front of me." The man whispers. (Y/N) keeps her hand on Aang's head while moving her other to grab her knife, "And why would you be so interested in an air nomad?" She questions. "Professor Zei, head of anthropology at Ba Sing Se University." The man introduces himself, bowing respectfully. Aang bows too and after getting a good look along with his answer, (Y/N) let go of her knife and removes her hand from Aang as she bows at Zei too. "Tell me, which of the Air Temples do you hail from?" Zei asks, grabbing Aang's wrist to examine his tattoo. "The Southern Temple." Aang answers.

(Y/N) rolls her eyes and walks over to the bar, ordering a beverage from the bartender. He does so and she gives him three coins, "Keep the change." She tells him. He nods and takes them while she picks up her drink and sips it through the straw. "Uh, are fruit pies an agricultural product?" Aang asks as Zei uses a tool to measure his head. "Oh. Truly fascinating. That's one for the journal." Zei says. The rest of the group have their own beverages as they watch until Sokka speaks up, "So, professor, you're obviously a well-traveled guy. Do you have a more current map? Ours seems to be a little dated."

"Certainly." Zei answers, the group walking over to a table as Sokka unrolls a map. He examines it, "What? No Fire Nation? Doesn't anybody have a good map of that place?" He complains. (Y/N) leans against the table while Toph sits in a chair while resting her feet on another. "Are you really that surprise that no one does?" (Y/N) asks sarcastically. "You've made a lot of trips into the desert." Katara notes as she sees many dotted lines in the drawing of the desert. "All in vain, I'm afraid. I've found civilizations all over the Earth Kingdom, but I haven't managed to find the crown jewel- Wan Shi Tong's Library." Zei explains.

"You've spent years walking through the desert to find some guy's library?" Toph asks then sips her beverage. "This library is more valuable than gold, little lady. It is said to contain a vast collection of knowledge. And knowledge... is priceless." Zei states. "Hmm. Sounds like good times." Toph deadpans. "Oh, it is." Zei says excitedly, not picking up her sarcasm. "According to legend, it was built by the great knowledge spirit Wan Shi Tong with the help of his foxy knowledge seekers." Zei explains. "Oh, so this spirit has attractive assistants, huh?" Sokka smiles. (Y/N) smiles as she swirls her drink, "Oh, yeah. Nothing like cute literal foxes helping you out." She says. "You're both right. Handsome little creature." Zei confirms. (Foxes are cute. 🦊)

"Wan Shi Tong and his knowledge seekers collected books from all over the world and put them on display for mankind to read. So that we might better ourselves." Zei says, taking out a scroll and unrolls it to reveal a drawing of the library itself.

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

Dang, that looks like a real palace. And to think it is filled with knowledge of almost everything. "Then it's settled. Aang, I do believe it's my turn. I'd like to spend my vacation at the library!" Sokka says loudly and dramatically. I roll my eyes. "Uh, hey, what about me? When do I get to pick?" Toph asks. "You've got to work here a little longer before you're qualified for vacation time." Sokka says. Toph slams her drink on the table and crosses her arms. "You know she spent most of her life trapped in her own home." I deadpan at him. He looks away but I see him sweat. Yeah, be afraid. I slurp my drink slowly. (Be very afraid~ 🧉)

Zei speaks up how the desert is impossible to navigate and that is when we go outside only to see Appa growling while being defensive against those masked guys. "Sandbenders, shoo! Away from the bison!" Zei shouts. The men walk away and I glare at them until they get on their boat-like transports and bend sand in a tornado to blow wind and sail off. I drop my glare and is impressed. Never seen sandbenders before, but I don't trust those sandbenders.

We all hop on Appa as he flies off and we start looking across the desert to try and find the library. We all look in different directions while Zei questions Appa. I worry if he loves learning new stuff too much. "Wow. It shouldn't be too hard to find a place like this in out here." I knew Aang jinxed it the minute he said that. We fly for a long while trying hard to even spot the place. "There it is!" Toph shouts and points in a direction. Except that it is just miles of sand. "That's what it will sound like when one of you spots it." She says, waving her hand in her face to emphasize her blindness. I chuckle from that, the others forgetting she is blind never fails to be a good bit. (Iconic.)

We keep flying and I just lay on my back with my eyes closed. "Down there. What's that?" I open my eyes and sit up, "It better be what we've been searching for because it not, I. Will. Scream." I state. (She ain't joking.) The heat is starting to get to me. Appa flies down and land and we all get off him to look up at a tower. "Forget it. It's obviously not what we're looking for. The building in this drawing is enormous." Katara says. I walk over and take the scroll from her, looking at it closely then at the tower and back at the drawing. Something shines and I look to see a fox with something in its mouth as it shines. "What kind of animal is that?" Sokka asks.

We watch as it runs at the tower then runs up it. I gasp and look at the drawing. "I think that was one of the knowledge seekers. Oh, we must be close to the library." Zei says. And that's when I find it. "We are." The others stand next to me and I point at the part of the drawing where the very tower that is right in front of us depicts. "This is the library. Look, it's completely buried." Sokka says. "The tower is the top piece of the entire structure that has yet to sink into the desert." I note, rolling up the scroll. "THE LIBRARY IS BURIED?!?" Ow. I rub my ear from Zei's shouting. "My life's ambition is now full of sand." He collapses to his hands and knees. "Well, time to start excavating." Okay, does he really think that tiny shovel will do any good?

I give the map to Sokka as Toph walks over to the tower and places her hand on it, "Actually, that won't be necessary. The inside seems to be completely intact. And it's huge." She informs. I look up to see the windows on the tower, "Well, we have a way in. Let's get this mini-vacation started." I ordered. "I say you guys go ahead without me." Toph says. "You've got something against libraries?" Katara asks. "I've held books before and I got to tell, they don't exactly do it for me." "Oh, right. Sorry." Yeah, you think she'd learn by now. (Ya think.)

I walk over to Appa and pat his head. Aang walks over and pats his cheek, "Don't worry, buddy. I'm not making you go underground over again." Aang says. "I lean down and give Appa a kiss on the nose, "Look out for each other." I tell him. Aang and I walk off and I pat Toph's shoulder, "Have fun." I tell her.

Sokka's P.O.V.

This is awesome. The library is way bigger than the drawing showed. "Look at those buttresses." Pfft! Buttresses. He asks what we are laughing about and Aang says we like architecture. He some make it to a floor and land. "My word! The exquisite mosaic handiwork of this tile-rendered avian symbol-" This guy sure likes to use a lot of big words. "Eh, nice owl." Rustling is heard and we all rush over to hide behind some columns.

We all stay quiet and still, I can hear scraping. What does it have, claws form feet. "I know you're back there." (Eep! 😨) Shoot. Okay, if we say nothing and stay perfectly still- "Hello." Dang it. I mentally facepalm as the professor introduces himself. "You should leave the way you came unless you want to become a stuffed head of anthropology." Okay, time to step in. We come out of hiding and walk up to the giant owl spirit. "Are you the spirit who brought this library to the physical world?" I ask.

"Indeed. I am Wan Shi Tong, he who knows 10,000 things. And you are obviously humans, which, by the way, are no longer permitted in my study." And what makes him think we can't? "Hmm. Humans only bother learning things to get the edge on other humans, like that firebender who came hot this place a few years ago, looking to destroy his enemy." He says. "Trust me when I say this, that man made no mark and got... What... He... DESERVED." Note to self; never get on (Y/N)'s bad side. (You're just NOW realizing?) "As fools like him deserve to be forgotten. So tell me, who are you trying to destroy?" The spirit gets in my face, I lean back and smile nervously. "What? No, no, no destroying. We're not into that." I tell him.

"They why have you come here?" He asks. "Uuuummm, knowledge for knowledge's sake." I tell him. He stares at me with those black eyes. So creepy! "If you're going to lie to an all-knowing spirit being, you should at least put some effort into it." He says. "I'm not lying! I'm here with the Avatar, and he's the bridge between our worlds. He'll vouch for me." I pull Aang to be in front of the spirit. I elbow him in the background to say something, "Ow. Uh, yeah. I'll vouch. We will not avoids the knowledge in your library, good spirit. You have my word." He says. We all bow to him. Please let it work.

"Hmm. Very well. I'll let you peruse my vast collection on one condition- To prove your worth as scholars, you have to contribute some worthwhile knowledge." He says. Okay, no problem. Zei steps up first, "Please accept this tome as a donation to your library." "First edition. Very nice." The spirit waves its wing and the book disappears. Katara gives him the waterbending scroll she stole from the pirates and Aang gives a wanted poster of himself.

(Y/N) walks up to him and- Wait... "This is an authentic seal-whale tooth, hunting knife of the Southern Water Tribe. It was gifted to me by the leader of the tribe for my twelfth birthday as a means to protect the people and provide for them." She kneels down as she bows her head and holds it up to him. But Dad gave her that. She's done so much with it and she's giving it away? "Hmm. A relic of great importance and semblance while also representing a nation. I accept." The spirit swipes its wing on it and it's gone. (Y/N) stand up and walks back. I shake my head and take out some rope, walking up to the spirit, "Oh, great spirit, check this out." I quickly tie it and show him the impressive knot. ""Ta-Da!"

He stares at it, "It's an impressive knot. That counts as knowledge." I tell him. "You're not very bright, are you?" Ouch. But he accepts it. "Enjoy the library." He jumps off and flies down deeper into the library. "Bright enough to fool you." I mutter and walk off. Now, time to find some knowledge of the Fire Nation.

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

This place is ginormous. I walk along a shelf and glide my hand along it until I stop and pull out a random book. I open it but blink to find at what it shows; a drawing of Avatar Kyoshi standing with a man that had hair which color is similar to mine and a woman, obviously Fire Nation, smiling as she stood especially close to Kyoshi. The man had a smile while his arms were crossed. Huh, he must have been a friend of her. I close the book I and put it back. "Hey! Look at these weird lion-turtle things." Lion-turtles? I walk over and ask Aang for the notepad, he gives it to me and I look at the drawing. It has the face and mane of a lion while having the shell of a turtle, but that shell looks to have an entire environment on it. Hmmm. (Fascinating. 🤔)

"Come on, (Y/N). Sokka walked off." I look at Katara. I put the notepad away and we walk to find Sokka standing at a podium. "Sokka, where are you going?" Aang asks right as Sokka runs off. "I want to know what happened to the Fire Nation on their darkest day. This could be promising." He answers. Darkest day of the Fire Nation? We follow him as we come upon a doorway with a red banner having the symbol of fire above it. However, after entering the room, there is nothing but ash. I glare, of course Zhao would destroy any hope of preservation of the Fire Nation for the future just to not have any of it be used against them. (What an idiot. 🤦‍♀️)

I walk over and kneel, scooping up some ash then let it fall. "This is just wrong. They're destroying themselves." I mutter to myself. I know the Fire Nation has hurt so many for so long, but my father gave his life to protect my mother and I. And then there was the village of people just wanting to live out their lives away from The War that Jet wanted dead just because they are Fire Nation. And Iroh, he is so kind and wise he even gave me that necklace. And Zuko... (It really puts things into perspective. 🔥 ⛰️) "(Y/N)." "Ah!" Someone shakes me and I look back to see it's Katara. "Come on, a fox wants us to follow them." she says. "Oh, okay."

The fox spirit runs off and we follow it until we arrive at a giant golden door that looks like a flower. Or a sun. The middle of it slides open and we see the fox. It leads us into a dark room and stops at an elevated round pedestal. It pushes a lever and the entire room becomes the night sky. "Whoa." Stars shining and moving while a metal rod with a moon appears above. "This room is a true marvel, a mechanical wonder. It's a planetarium that shows the heavens moving." I nod at Zei's words while still looking at the fake sky. It then shifts to reveal day and another metal rod appears but with a sun moves across it. "This is beautiful, but how is it helpful?" Sokka asks

We all gather around the platform which has four sections, all having symbols that associate with dates. "Maybe these dials represent dates and time. Sokka, try entering that date from that parchment you took." She says. "Shh! Katara, not in front of the fox. He's with the owl." He whispers. But the fox whisps and I walk over to pat his head, "It's not you. It's him." I tell them. Sokka turns the dials to match in a line made of two thin gold metal lines then he pulls the lever. We watch as the planetarium shifts to night, Aang saying he picks the best mini-vacations, then back to day before it stops at day only it is a little dark. "Hey. Wait, what happened to the sun?" Katara asks.

"Great. You must have broken it." I look around until I see the moon but it is in front of the sun. "No, he didn't." I step forward while looking up at them. "You rise with the Moon, I rise with the Sun." I gasp, (Callback!) "The Sun is the first flame. Just like how the Moon gives power to waterbenders, it's the same thing with the Sun to firebenders. But when the Moon blocks it, the connection is severed and leaves them without any fire." I state. "It's literally the darkest day in Fire Nation history. Firebenders lose their bending during a solar eclipse." Sokka says, and I look to see him shake Aang before pushing him away. "Sorry." He apologizes. "That makes so much sense. Like the lunar eclipse at the North Pole. This is huge." Katara says.

The fox whimpers and holds up his front paws. "Fine. You earned it." Sokka says and gives them a treat. Aww, cutie. (🥰) "We've got to get this information to the Earth King at Ba Sing Se. we'll wait for the next eclipse. Then we'll invade the Fire Nation when they're totally helpless. The Fire Lord is going down!" Sokka says. Except... I press my hands together, "Uh, Sokka, this sounds like a great plan, but two things:" I separate my hands and hold up a finger, "One; we don't know if a solar eclipse will happen this year," Lift up another finger, "and two; even if there is, it needs to happen before the comet arrives otherwise it will be too late." I state.

"Mortals are so predictable and such terrible liars." (Oop-! 😶) Uh, oh. I step back as Wan Shi Tong appears. "You betrayed my trust. From the beginning, you intended to misuse this knowledge for evil purposes." He states. "You don't understand. If anyones's evil, it's the Fire Nation." I flinch from that, but say nothing. "You saw what they did to your library. They're destructive and dangerous. We need this information." Sokka argues. I grab my wrist and rub the gemstone on my bracelet. "You think you're the first person to believe their war is justified?" Wan Shi Tong says.

I close my eyes and release my wrist as I look up and stand strong, looking Wan Shi Tong in the eye. "It's not." I state. He leans closer to me but I do not back down. "War brings pain and loss, hurting everybody. But if in the end, it must come to an end. People are going to get hurt whether we want to or not." I state. He stares at me and I clench my hands into fists, not backing down if he intends to attack. "You... are different. But it changes nothing." He moves away from me, "Countless others before you have come here, seeking weapons or weaknesses or battle strategies." He says. "We had no choice. Please. We're just desperate to protect the people we love." Aang tells him. "And now I am going to protect what I love." Uh, oh.

We opens his wings and flaps them, I hold our arms up to protect against the gusts of wind. However, I'm more concerned of the floor shaking. "What are you doing?" Aang asks. "I'm taking my knowledge back. No one will ever abuse it again." The spirit says. Sand starts falling down. "He's sinking the building. We've got to get out of here!" Katara shouts. "I'm afraid I can't allow that. You already know too much." Wan Shi Tong says, his neck elongating and sprouting tips on his head resembling horns. (I'm out.✌️ 🫥) We all jump to avoid his attack. "RUN!" I shout.

The run and the spirit turns around to chase them but I take out my bola-knife and swing the end with the piece at the spirit. It wraps around his neck and I pull him back. He screeches. "You think a mere human can stop me?" He lurches forward. "Aaaaah!" I scream as I fly through the air but quickly unwrap my rope from him and land on my feet, "No. But it did give them a head start!" I shout and sprint off. I hear him shriek but do not dare to look back.

Third Person P.O.V.

Meanwhile, Appa lays down with Toph leaning against him on the side with shade as they nap. App wakes and growls, "I already told you. I don't want to snuggle." Toph groans. Appa stands up and hurries off, making her fall back. She stands up and now notices shaking as the tower lowers into the sand. "Library's sinking. Library sinking!" She shouts, running over to it and stabs her hands into the tower. She groans as she uses all her strength to keep the library from sinking but the sand parts as she sinks with it. She removes her hands and digs her fingers into the sand, bending it to he solid then place her hands back in the library to keep it from lowering anymore. Until the others get out.

The others run while sand falls through the cracks. They pass a hall right as Wan Shi Tong screeches as he flies through shelves. He leaves destruction while gliding at the group. "Aah!" Zei shouts as he stops to look back at him. "Great Knowledge Spirit, I beg you, do not destroy your vast collection of priceless tomes." He pleads. Aang looks back and bends the air to pull Zei away right as Wan Shi Tong tried to take a bite out of him. He lands and slides on his butt. Aang spins and swings his staff to bend air that blows the owl spirit to the side and off the bridge, falling down deeper into the library.

"We've got to get back to the surface." Aang states as he and the others run. Except Sokka. "Sokka, let's go." Katara shouts as the group looks back at him. "But we still don't know when the next eclipse is gonna happen." He says. "Don't be stupid. We'll find out later." Katara argues. "No, we won't. If we leave this place, we'll never get the information." Sokka counters. (Y/N) looks at him like he has lost his mind, "You're seriously gonna risk your life just for a fleeting chance?" She questions him. "It could be our only chance." Sokka states. "Aang, come with me to the planetarium. I need cover." Sokka says as Aang runs over to him. "(Y/N), Katara, take Momo and get out of here." He tells them. "But-!"

A crash is made as Wan Shi Tong appears, separated the group. (AAH!!! 😱) "GO!" Sokka yells. "You better get out or I'll murder you both!" (Y/N) shouts. She grabs Katara's arm as they run. "Hurry, Sokka!" Katara shouts back. Sokka and Aang run off to the planetarium while Katara, (Y/N), Momo and Zei run to evade Wan Shi Tong. Zei quickly dives into a hall as the spirit flies past him, he checks back to find him gone but immediately sees a book and takes it off the shelf to read.

Momo chitters in fear while clinging onto Katara as she and (Y/N) run. Katara looks back and sees the spirit dive down at her with his talons out, but she is moved to the side as (Y/N) glares up at him while holding her bola-knife up.

With Toph and Appa, the earthbender continues to hold up the library. However, Appa looks back to find sand clouds. "What is it now?" Toph groans as she hears something. Sandgliders make their way to them with sandbenders on them. (Oh, great. 😒) One bends a stream of sand which creates a cloud that leaves Appa without sight. "Who's there?" Toph demands. The cloud clears as Appa stands defensive as gliders circle him. They jump out and bend the sand around them.

In the library, pieces crumble and fall as Aang and Sokka make it to the planetarium. "Why are we doing this?" Aang asks. "Because if this calendar can tell us about eclipses in the past, then maybe it can project when the next one will be." Sokka answers as he turns the dials. "You can't possibly check every single date." Aang argues. "I don't have to. We just need to check every day before Sozin's Comet arrives, because after that, well, try not to think about that." Sokka says.

He inputs the dates while Aang pulls the lever. The watch the structure as it goes from day to night. Trying again and again until they can get a solar eclipse. "Come on, eclipse." Aang pleads, pulling the lever. The sun ends up being covered by the moon. (Ah-Ha!) "That's it- the solar eclipse. It's just a few months away." Sokka says. He takes out a pen and paper to quickly write down the date on the dial. "Got it! Now let's get to Ba Sing Se." He states, putting the note away as he and Aang run out of the room.

Meanwhile, Appa is surrounded by sandbenders as they swing ropes with weights on them. The swing them over him as they are caught by others, they start pulling to down him and he roars to fight back. They press their feet flat against the sand and bend it around their feet to ground themselves. "Don't make me put this down!" Toph shouts, she lets go of the library and it sinks quickly as she sends a wave of sand to knock them away. But due to the sand's grainy and loose texture, they completely miss the sandbenders. She places her hands back in the tower, her strength wavering as she tries to keep it from sinking anymore.

Appa ends up being dragged as he is tied to the gliders and they sail away. "No! Stop sinking!" Toph cries out. She releases the library again and blindly bends sand. She stops and goes back to keeping the library still. "I'm sorry, Appa." Her voice cracks, closing her eyes in guilt as Appa is dragged away. (Appa... 😣)

Back in the library, (Y/N) swings her piece end at Wan Shi Tong. He avoids it which gave the girls just a second to move and hide behind a shelf. They sit and press their backs against the wall to catch their breath, Katara and Momo hugging each other while (Y/N) holds up her the knife end of her bola. They quiet down as they hear scratching, Wan Shi Tong stopping and looks around. "At least I'll have one specimen to add to my collection." He says, seeing Momo's tail. He runs to where they are and turning the corner, (Y/N) stands in front of him, "RAAAAHHH!!!" Screaming as she stabs his eye. (OH!) The owl spirit shrieks in agony as he steps back, (Y/N) running off to catch up with Katara as she stayed behind to provide time for her and Momo time.

They run with Wan Shi Tong moving fast to catch up. The girls skid to a stop as they see the rope and run at it, the spirit passing behind them. He stops and turns around, the girls stop and face him: (Y/N) with her bola-knife ready and Katara gripping her water pouch as she assumes a stance. "You think mere weapons can stop me?" Wan Shi Tong mockingly asks (Y/N). She does not back down and pulls on the rope to show she is not backing down. He looks at Katara, "And your waterbending won't do you much good here. I've studied Northern water style, Southern water style, even foggy swamp style." He states, opening his wings while rising up.

However, Aang flies in on his glider with Sokka hanging on before letting go, yelling as he holds up a book and slams it down on Wan Shi Tong. He lands on the bridge as the spirit falls unconscious. "That's called Sokka style. Learn it!" He quips. (That's hitting with books. 😏) "Let's go!" (Y/N) shouts, pushing Katara forward. The walk up the spirit and grab the rope as they start climbing it. But Sokka stops as he notes someone missing. "Wait! Professor, let's go." He tells Zei as he is surrounded by books. "I'm not leaving. I can't. I've spent too long trying to find this place. There's not another collection of knowledge like this on Earth. I could spend an eternity in here." He says, finally feeling fulfilled in his life.

(Y/N) looks at him for a brief moment before looking up, "Climb!" She shouts. But she, Katara and Sokka gasp as Wan Shi Tong awakens and grabs the rope, swinging it to try and get them to fall. Aang flies done and the three quickly grab onto each other with Momo flying next to them. Wan Shi Tong flies after them and as he got close, (Y/N) looks back and pulls back her feet. "Leave. US. ALONE!!!" She kicks him in the face, stunning him and allowing the gang to escape the tower. They land on the ground, grunting which Toph hears and finally lets go of the library. She is forced away and lands on her back as the tower fully sinks. Sand blows and it disappears to reveal a crater, the library now gone forever. (Phew! 😮‍💨)

Most of the group look at the crater for a moment. "We got it. There's a solar eclipse coming." Sokka breaks it as he and Katara hug. "The Fire Nation's in trouble now." He states. (Y/N) stands up and pats herself to get sand off her but looking around, she stops after noticing a lack of one being. Aang notices too and walks over to Toph, who sits while holding her head. "Where's Appa?" He asks. Toph says nothing, her eyes closed and only shakes her head with her face expressing guilt.

Aang gasps and sheds a tear, his closest friend and only other from his time... is gone. (Y/N)'s widen in shock and looks out into the desert, her head lowers as she grabs her bracelet. The team now stuck in the middle of the largest desert in the world. And Appa missing.

(YES! Finished. And on a downer cliffhanger. Hope you liked the chapter, until next time. ✌️)
