Bitter Work

(Woo-Hoo! New chapter! Sorry for the delay, but here it is. Now, who is ready to learn stuff?)

Whew! Nothing like some well-deserved rest after being chased by three crazy chicks for days with no sleep. I cut up some fruit since I was the first to wake up after having slept for two days, I was more exhausted than I thought, (Clearly. 🥱) and make a little breakfast. We also moved to a more secure location that was nothing but dirt and rock, a perfect place to start Aang's earthbending training. I put my knife away and eat some fruit.

"Aaaaah." I look over and see Aang wake up. Then he smiles and jumps into the air, "Today's the day. Can you believe it?" He asks as he lands beside me. I give him a smile, "It does feel a little overdue, bud." I tell him, offering a piece of an apple. He takes it and eats it, "Right? After all that time searching for a teacher, I'm finally starting earthbending. And this place, it's perfect. Don't you think?" He says. I nod my head and Momo appears as he swipes some fruit then goes over to be on Appa's head. (Yep. 🍎)

He looks over at Sokka while he and Katara are still asleep. "Sokka?" He asks. And said grouchy groans a reply. "Oh, you're still sleeping, huh?" Aang asks. I eat another slice as Sokka goes back to sleep. I smirk, "Ah, let him sleep. He's enough of a grouch as is." I tease. "Sorry." Aang whispers. The ground starts shaking and I look over at Toph's tent right as it explodes into pieces, "Good morning, earthbending student." She says. "Welp, Toph's awake." I state, standing up and grabbing some fruit. "Good morning , Sifu Toph." Aang says, bowing his head respectfully to her. (Morning! ☀️)

"Hey, you never call me Sifu Katara." Oh, Katara's awake too. "Well, if you think I should." Aang says. I walk over and offer Katara some fruit and she takes it, thanking me before eating and I walk over to Toph. Sokka growls and he sits up to glare at Aang. "Sorry, snoozels. We'll do our earthbending as quietly as we can." Toph says. Before Sokka launches into the air and screams. He lands on the ground, "Hm. I think that did it." I comment. He grumbles and hops away in his sleeping bag. I offer fruit to Toph, "Huh. I haven't seen him that energized in a while." I state. "You're welcome." I smirk at Toph as she ate the fruit.

I step aside as Aang stands next to her, very excited to get started. "So what move are you gonna teach me first? Rockalanche, the trembler? Oh, maybe I can learn to make a whirlpool out of land." Aang says. "Let's start with, move a rock." Toph tells him. Yeah, best to start with the basics. (ALWAYS.)

We moved to a another area where Toph bended two large boulders in front of her and Aang. Katara and I are on a ledge to watch, her sitting while I did a sideway splits. The key to earthbending is your stance. You've got to be steady and strong. Rock is a stubborn element. If you're going to move it, you've got to be like a rock yourself." Toph says, assuming said stance while Aang copies her but he got pushed and almost lost his balance. "Like a rock, got it." Aang says. "Good. Now, the actual motion of this one is pretty simple." Toph says, then moves her stance before bending the boulder into a wall.

"Simple but effective." I comment, moving to be on my hands and turn around to still watch. Aang assumes the same position she did but blows himself away from the rock and into Appa. "Oh." I wince from that. (Ouch. 😣) "Rock beats airbender." Apparently, Sokka. Apparently.

Third Person P.O.V.

In a grassy field with a lone tree and the sun shining down, Iroh runs as he smiles while looking back at someone. He is much younger as his hair brown and his beard not as long along with being slimmer. A boy, no more than eight-years-old, appears and moves his hands to mimic firebending, "I got you, Dad." He says. "Oh! No!" Iroh mimics being hit and falls on his back. The boy jumps on him and the two share a laugh.

The scenery changes to be darker and it rains heavily. Iroh, now older, is on his knees as his eyes are shut from despair, "My beloved Lu Ten, I will see you again." He says, sitting before a grave that held his son as it stood below the tree which is now bare and appears dead. (😔 🍃)

"Uncle." Iroh wakes and looks to see Zuko looking down at him. "You were unconscious. Azula did this to you." He tells him. Iroh moves to sit up, but groans as he holds a hand to the left side of his chest which is heavily bandaged. "It was a surprise attack." Zuko says. "Somehow that's not so surprising." Iroh replies. They inhabit an abandoned broken house which had a lot of holes in it, but provided a decent resting place. Iroh sits up and leans back against the wall as Zuko offers him a cup of tea. "I hope I made it the way you like it." He says. (Oh, he made tea for him. 😊)

Iroh takes it and sips the tea, but gags from the taste. (But not very good tea. 🤢) "Good." He deadpans, drinking all of it then gagging. "That was very, um, bracing." He says, not wanting to insult Zuko's tea making skills. Zuko refills the cup and gives it to his uncle, who dumped the tea out of a hole behind him when Zuko was not looking. "So, Uncle, I've been thinking. It's only a matter of time before I run into Azula again. I'm going to need to know more advanced firebending if I want to stand a chance against her. I know what you're gonna say: she's my sister and I should be trying to get along with her." Zuko tells his piece.

"No. She's crazy, and she needs to go down." Iroh states. Zuko is somewhat surprised but also not and nods his head at his uncle's words. (If Iroh says she a lost cause; that's all the confirmation you need. 😓) Iroh grunts as he slowly stands up, "It's time to resume your training." He states.

Back with the gang, Katara and (Y/N) stand near Toph while Aang walks over. "I don't understand what went wrong. He did it exactly the way you did." Katara says. "Maybe there's another way. What if I came at the boulder from a different angle?" Aang says as he walks past them. Toph grabs the back of his shirt to stop him, "No, that's the problem. You've got to stop thinking like an airbender." She tells him while knocking his head. "There's no different angle, no clever solution, no trickity-trick that's gonna move that rock." She states, shoving him and he falls on the ground. "You've got to face it head-on. And when I say head-on, I mean like this." She states and jumps, crushing the boulder as it shatters into pieces as she lands on her feet. (Dang.)

"Whoa!" Aang backs away a little. "I completely get that. It's like when I'm making my stand against opponents. You can't always avoid a fight so you gotta face it and not back down. And punch hard." (Y/N) says, smiling as she holds up a fist. (I'm a little scared. 😟) "Exactly." Toph says before walking off. Aang frowns as he realizes the training will be a lot harder than he thought. (Y/N) pats his head while Katara hurries over to Toph. "I've been training Aang for a while now. He really responds well to a positive teaching experience- lots of encouragement and praise,  kind words. If he's doing something wrong, maybe a gentle nudge in the right direction." Katara informs her. "Thanks, Katara. A gentle nudge. I'll try that." Toph says with a calm voice. (Uh-oh.)

"Keep your knees high, Twinkle Toes!" She shouts. Aang holds a large boiled on his back and groans while struggling to keep it from crushing him. Toph bends pillars under his feet whenever he took a step even moving the earth to slide his feet. Aang grunts and eventually loses his balance. Next, they stand in front of a dirt bowl and Toph rubs her hands together before digging her hands into it. Aang copies her but groans in panic as he discovered that the dirt is solid rock. (Ouch. 😣)

Aang stands in the proper stance while he sweats and shakes anxiously. Toph appears from the ground, "Rock collide!" She shouts and he jumps with a scream, falling on his back. She bends a pillar below him to get him on his feet then poke his eye. Sokka is held back by Toph as he tries to get his machete back. (Y/N) watches Toph push him away and gives it to Aang as he is blindfolded, she rolls adjusts the wrapping on her knuckles then rolls her shoulders as she goes back to punching a boulder.

Toph stands above and bends earth pillars around Aang for which he must hit them, an exercise to enhance not only his hearing but also gain a feeling of the earth through seismic sense like she does. Aang swings and misses as the pillars disappear but he waits and swings, successfully hitting one. Toph nods her head, proud that he is making some progress. Next, Toph bended two earth walls to surround her and Aang in a narrow pathway then draws a line in the ground. She bends earth to surround her like armor which makes Aang's jaw drop, "Huh?" She charges at him and Aang gasps as they collide. He groans as he pushes back against her and she pushes harder but Aang is determined and pushes her back, passing the line.

Aang tosses a weight into the air and catches it while standing on two pillars. Toph stands between them, "Rock like!" She shouts and shakes the pillars, but Aang stands firm and strong. Toph lifts herself with a pillar and nods her head, that making Aang smile.

Zuko's P.O.V.

I sit before Uncle and listen to his words. I'm glad that he is okay but him getting hurt and Azula being out there, I need to become stronger if I'm going to survive. "Lighting is a pure expression of firebending- without aggression. It is not fueled by rage or emotion the way other firebending is. Some call lightning the cold-blooded fire. It is precise and deadly, like Azula. To perform the technique requires peace of mind." He says, offering me a tea. I take it and have a realization, "I see. That's why we're drinking tea- to calm the mind." It is said to be soothing. "Oh, yeah, good point! I mean, yes." Uncle confirms. (He just loves tea. 🍵)

We step outside at on a cliff that overlooks the abandoned village. "There is energy all around us. The energy is both Yin and Yang- a positive energy and a negative energy. Only a select few firebenders can separate these energies. This creates an imbalance. The energy wants to restore balance. And in that moment the positive and negative energy come crashing back together. You provide release and guidance, creating lightning." He informs. He holds his hand at me and I take a few steps back.

I watch as he summons lighting, moving it around in an almost hypnotic like motion. He points his fingers forward and sends it into the sky, it lighting the already bright day. (⚡️) Yes. This is what I need. "I'm ready to try it." I state. "Remember, once you separate the energy, you do not command it. You are simply its humble guide. Breathe first." Uncle says. I close my eyes and inhale deeply through my nose. I open my eyes and do exactly as he did it, "Hyah!" I shout and point my fingers forward, "AH!"

"Uh!" I land on my back after only a fire explosion happened. I don't get it. Why didn't it work? I did the motions right and I had anger, so why didn't it work?!? I inhale deeply and stand back up. (Tea, anyone? 🫖)

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

"48... 49... 50." I stand up and shake my hands after doing some pushups. This has been a good day of training. I walk over and stand beside Katara as Toph is about to give Aang another lesson. "This time, we're going to try something a little different. Instead of moving a rock, you're going to stop a rock." Well, this should be interesting. "Get in your horse stance." She tells Aang and he does so. "I'm going to roll that boulder down at you." She says. I look up and see a large boulder with a cliff having a pathway leading directly to Aang. Whoa.

"If you have the attitude of an earthbender, you'll stay in your stance and stop the rock. Like this." She says, showing how he would stop it. "Sorry, Toph, but are you sure this is really the best way to teach Aang earthbending?" Katara asks. "I'm glad you said something." She is? "Actually, there is a better way." And that is by blindfolding Aang. Ah. "This way, you'll really have to sense the vibrations of the boulder to stop it. Thank you, Katara." She says. "Yeah, thanks, Katara." Huh. Sarcasm, I forget Aang has it in him some times. Katara chuckles nervously and I lay a hand on her shoulder, "Hey, you got this, bud. Remember, it's all about being unmovable." I tell Aang to give him encouragement.

I have Katara move back with me as we watch at a safe distance and Momo watches while on Katara's head. The boulder starts rolling down and I have to admit I'm a little worried, but I know Aang can do this. Though, I know him too well to know he would jump over it. I watch the boulder roll by and crash into a wall, "Hm. I counted about seven seconds." I comment. I feel a smack on my shoulder, "Can you take this seriously?" I look at Katara as she has a scolding face. I hold up my hands in surrender, "Sorry." I apologize. (🙌)

I look over to see Toph standing in front of Aang. Uh, oh. "I guess I just panicked. I don't know what to say." Aang says, taking off his blind fold. "There's nothing to say. You blew it. You had a perfect stance and perfect form, but when it came right down to it, you didn't have the guts." Toph scolds him and gives him a punch. It wasn't hard from what I observed but Aang takes her words hard and falls onto his butt. "I know. I'm sorry." He apologizes. "Yeah, you are sorry. If you're not tough enough to stop the rock, then you can at least give it the please of smushing you instead of jumping out of the way like a jelly-boned wimp." Wow. She lays it on thick. (Mm. 🙂‍↕️)

"Now do you have what it takes to face that rock like an earthbender?" She asks him. "No, I don't think I do." Oh, Aang. I frown in sympathy. Katara and I walk over to stand behind him. "Aang, it's no big deal. You'll take a break and try earthbending again when you're ready. Besides, you still have a lot of waterbending to work on, ok?" Katara comforts him as she rests her hands on his shoulders. "Yeah, that sounds good." Aang says as he stands up. "Yeah, whatever. Go splash around until you feel better." Toph says and walks off.

I watch Katara and Aang walk off then follow Toph. I know Aang is strong and Toph is the best teacher to help him understand earthbending, but maybe I can help Toph to toughen Aang up.

She stops and I stop, "You know I can feel you following me." She says. I smile, "Yeah. I was just waiting until you addressed me." I respond. She turns around to face me, "Let me guess, you want me to take it easy on Twinkle Toes?" She says. I cross my arms, "Actually, it's more like finding another angle." I respond. "Wow, his airbending ways must have rubbed off on you." She says. I walk over to stand beside her, "Yeah. I know him, he's pretty wise for his age but just like all of us, we're still learning about... ourselves." I state. "He's learning how to be an earthbender, how can he become The Avatar if he can't face a single boulder without chickening out?" She says.

I think about her words and cup my chin, "Hmm." I look up at the sky, "Ah!" But looked into the sun and cover my eyes. "You okay?" I hear Toph ask while I rub my eyes, "I'm fine. Just looked at the sun." I explain. (Ow.☀️ 😣) Wait... the sun... fire... I learned more about myself, but it has not been easy because I don't know how to feel about being Fire Nation. It's apart of what I am, but...

I open my eyes look at my bracelet, "Sometimes, you may have something that you always had, but you may not know it or understand it at first. My mother was of the Earth Kingdom, but she died sometime after I was born so I was raised in the South Pole and surrounded by the culture of the Water Tribe." I start. I see Toph lift her head a little but say nothing so I continue, "I never got to experience the Earth Kingdom until we left and started our adventure with Aang. And since then, I have been learning more and more about myself."

Rubbing the green gem, I close my eyes and inhale deeply. "Is this going somewhere?" Toph asks. I open my eyes to look at her, "Not standing down in a fight and choosing to face what comes my way no matter what, not breaking down when facing danger, that is the Earth Kingdom in me." I state. I lower my arm, "But I also learned something shocking that I'm not quite sure how to feel exactly about it yet." I add. I mean, I have met people of the Fire Nation that are not heartless, deluded monsters, but that still does not erase the damage and destruction they have done to the world.

I gently slap my face then look at Toph, "Aang is struggling because all he has known is the way of air, the teachings of the monks. But he does have what it takes to be an earthbender, you just have to find something or some way that will have him let it out. Trust me, he does not back down when push comes to shove." I smile, resting a hand on my hip. She lifts her head up then smiles, "Hm. You're right. Twinkle Toes needs a different approach." She says. I huff out a laugh, "Just don't be too soft on him." I tell her. "Like that would ever happen." She responds. I laugh and she does too.

(Okay, this hit took me a while to figure out what to write. I hope I did a decent job.)

Aang's P.O.V.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I always find another way around something and I have faced stuff before. So why can't I get earthbending?

Katara and I do some waterbending in a pond with plants that look like Momo's tail. (Meanwhile Momo falls into the water face first after failing to catch a frog. 🐸) The exercise is to bend some water in a circle between us. Water came more naturally to me because it had similarities with air but it's still different. "You know this block you're having is only temporary, right?" Katara asks. "I don't want to talk about it." I tell her. "You do realizes that's the problem, don't you? If you face this issue instead of avoiding it..." "I know, I know, I know, I know! I get it, all right? I need to face it head-on like a rock. But I just can't do it. I don't know why I can't, but I can't." I snap.

Facing things is not my problem so why can't I move a simple boulder? (Maybe... it is?) I splash some water in frustration. "Aang, if fire and water are opposites, then what's the opposite of air?" Katara asks. The only element that would be is... "I guess it's earth." I answer. "That's why it's so hard for you to get this. You're working with your natural opposite. But you'll figure it out. I know you will." She says. "Think fast!" But then she throws a bamboo at me and I bend a wave to cut it in half, they pass by me. Huh. That was easy. "Excellent. You have the reflexes of a waterbending master." She says.

"Thanks, Katara... Sifu Katara." I thank her, bowing to her. Maybe I can do it. But when?

Third Person P.O.V.

With Zuko and Iroh, after trying and failing to bend lightning, Zuko now sits before Iroh as his uncle uses a stick to draw in the dirt. "Fire is the element of power. The people of the Fire Nation have desire and will and the energy and drive to achieve what they want." Iroh informs as he drew the symbol of fire. "Earth is the element of substance. The people of the Earth Kingdom are diverse and strong. They are persistent and enduring." He draws the symbol of earth. "Air is the element of freedom. The Air Nomads detached themselves from worldly concerns and found peace and freedom. Also, they apparently had pretty good senses of humor." Iroh jokes a little as he draws the symbol of air.

He smiles at Zuko, but his nephew has a neutral frown. He drops his smiles and resumes the lesson. "Water is the element of change. The people of the water tribe are capable of adapting to many things. They have a deep sense of community and love that holds them together through anything." He says, drawing a square around each symbol. "Why are you tell in me these things?" Zuko asks him. "It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If we take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale." Iroh informs, drawing lines to separate the elements.

"Understanding others - the other elements and the other nations - will help you become whole." Iroh concludes as he draws a circle around the symbols. (☯️) "All this 4 elements talk is sounding like Avatar stuff." Zuko notes. "It is the combination of the 4 elements in one person that makes the Avatar so powerful, but it can make you more powerful, too." Iroh tells him as he points his stuck at his chest. "You see, the technique I am about to teach you is one I learned by studying the waterbenders." He says. Zuko smiles at hearing that, looking down at the drawing.

The sun is starting to set and back with the group, Aang sits in a meditative position as he has his eyes closed. Momo lays in front of him as he naps. Toph appears and sits at a distance from behind him, "Aang... I found these nuts in your bag. I figured you wouldn't mind. And besides, even if you did, you're too much of a pushover to do anything about it." She says, holding up said bag and swaying it lightly. And opens his eyes with an annoyed expression. "As a matter of fact, I don't mind. I'm happy to share anything I have." He says, closing his eyes as he tries to meditate.

"You know, I'm really glad you feel that way, because I also have this great new nutcracker." Toph says, twirling Aang's staff above her head. (Oh, boy.) Aang opens his eyes and looks back right as she uses it to break open a nut. "Actually, I'd prefer if you didn't-" *CRACK* "That's an antique, handcrafted by the monk-" *CRACK* "It's a delicate instrument." Aang says while Toph cracks more and more nuts with his staff. "It's not the only delicate instrument around here." Toph sasses back while she snacks and Momo joins her as he sits on her shoulder. (Girl is brutal.)

She wipes her mouth then stands up as she walks away and swings the staff side to side as it hits rocks. Aang watches a bit but goes back to his meditation. "Ommm." "Hey, Aang, have you seen-" "Meditating here." Aang tells Katara. (Y/N) appears but is upside-down as she is walking on her hands. She lowers her feet down then stands upright, "Sorry, what's got you irritated?" She asks, resting a hand on her hip with a bit of sass. (How strong are her arms? 💪) "It's important. It's almost sundown, and Sokka isn't back yet." Katara tells Aang. "I wouldn't be surprised if he got stuck in a hole." (Y/N) says. Katara gives her a look before it shifts back to a worried one as she faces Aang, "I think we should search for him." She says.

Aang looks back at her then bends some air as he stands. "We'll find him faster if we split up." He says. He runs off in one direction as Katara and (Y/N) run off in another.

Aang's P.O.V.

I haven't realized Sokka has been gone almost all day. What has he been doing? I run over and in a clear pathway, "Aang!" I look to my right and see Sokka in a hole. Huh, (Y/N) was right. (No surprise there. 😏) "Thank goodness. Have you got any meat?" I run over to him. "Sokka, are you ok?" I ask. I grab his hand and try to pull him out, but he is really stuck. "Stop, stop! You're gonna pull my fingers off. And I don't think the rest of me is coming." He says. I let go of him and try to think of something.

I know! "I her I can airbend you out of here." I bend air in the hole outwards, but it only made Sokka's hair stick up. And he gets hit on the head with the butt of his knife. "Seriously, Aang, I know you're new at it, but I could use a little earthbending here. How about it?" He says. Of all the times... "I can't... I can't do it." I turn away from him. I feel shame. Why can't I just do it?! "Well, if you can't earthbending me out of here, go get Toph." How can I go get her if I can't face her? "I can't do that either." I tell him. "You can't? Why not?" Sokka asks. "It would be just really... uncomfortable." I tell him.

"'Uncomfortable.' Well I wouldn't want you to feel uncomfortable." He says. (Says the one in a hole 🕳️) "Thanks, Sokka." I sit down beside him. "This whole earthbending thing really has me confused. There's so much pressure. Everyone expects me to get it right away. I-It puts me in a really awkward position." I confess. It's already stressful enough that o have to stop The War by the end of the summer but how can I when can bend one rock? "Awkward position? I think I know the feeling." I hear Sokka say. "I-If I try, I fail. But if I don't try, I'm never gonna get it. I feel like I'm caught between a rock and a hard place." I state.

"So, move the rock." I look to find (Y/N) looking down at me. "How long have you been there?" Sokka asks. "Long enough." She says. "Alright, how about that?" Sokka says. "Oooh~ Who's this little guy?" (Y/N) bends down and I look to find a little baby sabertooth moose lion cub. "Aang, (Y/N), this is my friend, Fufu Cuddly Poops. Fufu Cuddly Poops, Aang and (Y/N)." I pick up the little guy, "Aw. What a cute name for a little baby sabertooth moose lion cub." I say, standing up.

"Wow, that's a mouthful. Why not just call him Fufu." (Y/N) says, scratching his head. (All in favor? ✋) "Really? He looks nothing like a sabertooth moose lion." Sokka says. "It's hard to tell before their giant teeth and horns grow in." I tell him. "What you doing out here, little guy? Did you lose your mama?" I ask him. He blinks and I smile at him, "Uuuh, I don't think he did." I hear (Y/N) say then hear a low growl and turn around to find the mother. Whoa. I forgot how big they are. (Oop-! 😶)

Iroh's P.O.V.

I demonstrate the motions of basic waterbender moves to Zuko. While he may not yet know to bend lightning, I will ensure he can protect himself by redirecting it. "Waterbenders deal with the flow of energy. A waterbender lets their defense become their offense, turning their opponent's energy against them. I learned a way to do this with lightning." I tell him. "You can teach me to redirect lightning?" He asks. I nod my head in conformation, "If you let the energy in your own body flow, the lightning will follow it."

I then hold up my arm and point two fingers out, using my other to show how the lightning would have to flow, "You just create a pathway from your fingertips up you arm to your shoulder, then down into your stomach. The stomach is the source of energy in your body. It is called the Sea of Chi, only in my case, it is more like a vast ocean." I joke, rubbing my belly. I laugh then stop and continue the motion, "From the stomach, you direct it up again and out the other arm." I state, holding out my other arm. "The stomach detour is critical. You just not let the lightning pass through your heart, for the damage could be deadly." I state sternly, walking over and pressing two fingers on his chest.

"You may wish to try a physical motion to get a feel for the pathway's flow, like this." I say then assume the position. Zuko copies and so we go through the motion, doing it a couple of times so he can get a good feel of it. "Now, are you focusing your energy? Can you feel your own Chi flowing in, down, up and out?" I ask him. "I think so." He says, continuing to do the motions. "Come on. You got to feel the flow." I say, doing a wave motion with my arms. (He's a fun guy.)

We do it for a little while longer until he has the motion memorized. "Excellent. You've got it." I tell him. "Great. I'm ready to try it with real lightning." Wait, what? "What? Are you crazy? Lightning is very dangerous." I tell him. "I thought that was the point- you teaching me to protect myself from it." Does he actually think I'm going to shoot lightning at him?!? "Yeah, but I'm not going to shoot lightning at you!" I turn around. This boy... "If you're lucky, you will never have to use this technique at all." I state, walking off. But I hear thunder in the distance, "Well, if you won't help me, I'll find my own lightning." He says.

I close my eyes and hear him run off on the ostrich horse. I pray to the spirits he will be safe. I cannot lose another son. (D'oh! My heart! 💔)

(Y/N)'s P.O.V.

Wow, that is a big mama. She states us down- Well, actually she stares down Aang because he has her baby. "Hey there. We found your cub." He says. The baby makes a noise like he's yawning but that only upsets the mother. I hold up my hands to show no harm, "Easy. Let's not get ugly here." I say slowly. "Aang, put Fufu down." I whisper. Fufu runs over and under his mother as he hides in a bush. "See? We have no problem with you. We're friendly." Aang says, but it snorts and shakes its head.

Okay, my gut is telling me she is still not happy. "(Y/N), Aang, this is bad. You guys have got to get me out of here." Sokka says loudly. And that makes the mother charge at us. "Aah!" I take out my knife but Aang airbends it to go over us and I duck in time to avoid the claws. I stand up and move to stand between it and the guys, "This is really bad! Please, Aang! You have to earthbend me out. There's no other way!" I hear Sokka shout. I keep my eyes on the moose as it prepares to charge again. "Guys, cover your eyes." I tell them. I don't want to do this, but if she won't stop... (She stands FIRM. 🔪)

I feel wind blow and look to see Aang on a pillar of rock, "Yoo-Hoo! Look at me!" He says, doing a dance. But the moose charges at us and I adjust my grip as I prepare for what I would have to do. Sorry, Fufu. But Aang appears and uses his airbending to push it away. I'm about to move to be beside him, "Whoa!" But trip on something and keep my balance. I look to find a rock- Wait. That's earth jutting out of the ground. (Hmmm~ 💚🪨)

The ground shakes and I look right as Aang airbends a powerful gust to push the moose back. "Whoa." I breathe out. (Dang. 😯) The mother finally leaves and someone is clapping. I put my knife away to find it is Toph. She stopped me from helping Aang- Wait... I smile and cross my arms. "What are you doing here?" Sokka asks. "Just enjoying the show." She responds. "What? You were there the whole time?" Aang asks her. "Pretty much." She says. "Why didn't you do something? Sokka was in trouble. (Y/N) was in trouble. I was in trouble! You could have gotten him out and helped us get away." Aang tells her off. "Guess it just didn't occur to me." Toph says.

She tosses a nut on the ground and takes out Aang's staff but he grabs it, "Enough. I want my staff back." Wow, he stood up to her. That's more impressive than standing up to a sabertooth moose. (Mm-Hm. 🙂‍↕️) "Do it now." She tells him. "What?" "Earthbend, Twinkle Toes. You just stood your ground against a crazy beast. And even more impressive, you stood your ground against me. You've got the stuff. You do have what it takes." I smirk at that last line. "But-" "Do it!" She tells him.

We watch and he moves the rock, it crashes onto a wall in a spectacular display. "You did it! You're an earthbender." (Woo-Hoo! ⛰️) Yes! I run over and give Aang a noogie, "I knew you could do it, bud!" I tell him. "Ha-ha. Yeah, I can't believe it." He says. "Aw. This is really a wonderful, touching moment. So could you get me out of here so I can give you both a big snuggly hug?" Oh, right. I let go of Aang and look back at Sokka. Aang is eager to help, but Toph stops him and does it herself. I'm happy for him, but I don't want him crushing Sokka. (Good point.)

Aang and I help Sokka walk as we all meet up with Katara, "You found him!" She gives him a hug. And then he goes on about some deep thinking before Aang shows to Katara his earthbending as he bends a rock off a pillar. "You did it! I knew you would." Katara says. "You tired the positive reinforcement, didn't you?" She whispers to Toph. "Yup. And I used a little of (Y/N)'s wisdom. They worked wonders." She says. I smile and look to find Aang being knocked over by Appa giving him a kick. "Heh. It's a start." I say. I look down at my bracelet and smile fondly... I hope I'm doing you proud, Mom. (I'm sure she is. 😌)

Zuko's P.O.V.

I stand on top of a mountain in the middle of a storm. I ca do this. I can do this! I'm not afraid! "You've always thrown everything you could at me. Well, I can take it. And now I can give it back!" I shout. Lightning strikes but far away. "Come on! Strike me! You've never held back before!" I shout. I can take it! And I'll show you! I will show you that I am strong! That I'm not a mistake!

But no lighting strikes at me. "AAAAAAAHHH!!" I collapses onto my knees. Why...? Why can't I... I sniff and rub my tears away. (Oh. 💔😢)

(Wooooo! I did it! I got it out! Well, I hope you liked it. Will be a while till the next one. Until then! ✌️)
