ii. it checks out, boys!

SAM AND DEAN were seated in the same spot just hours after their surprise guest had left. They had ancient scrolls and texts sitting in each of their hands. They scoured Bobby's entire library, in hopes of leading to something about the angel who paid them a visit.

Bobby walked into the room, holding a book that was opened to a page marked with a golden bookmark. He dropped the old, dust-covered object onto the desk sitting in the side of the room. "It checks out, boys." He said, looking at the other two men in the room.

Dean sighed before standing from his seat and walking over to the book. He began scanning the pages, letting out a sigh once he finished reading about her. "It says that the archangel of nature is, in fact, named Ariel. She was in the same training class as Gabriel, Raphael, Michael and Lucifer themselves."

Sam walked up behind his brother and began to gloss over the pages as well. "Says that she was God's apprentice for millions of years, before she was positioned on Earth." He concluded. "She's been on our planet since the year 500 B.C."

Sam's eyes scanned the pictures that littered the dusty page. A specific one caught his eye. It was a blonde woman, the one that they met earlier that day, standing beside Cleopatra. A gold headdress sat on her head as she stared out of the picture. The painting seemed uncanny to the resemblance of the woman that paid them a visit that same day. "Holy shit." Sam breathed, his eyes wide in shock.

"I wonder how old that vessel is." Dean said, very curious.

Bobby plopped down onto the couch and said, "Well all we can do it wait for her to show up with more information."

BOBBY, DEAN AND Sam were sitting around the desk, but instead they were all reading journals made by the writer H.P. Lovecraft. Everybody's train of thought was cut off when Dean's cell phone began to ring. He picked it up, and pressed the phone to his ear.

"Ben?" He asked. Sam and Bobby shared a look before glancing back at Dean.

Nobody could hear what Ben was saying on the other side of the line, but whatever it was, it was causing Dean to become very distressed. "What? What are they?"

The sounds of wings flapping sounded quietly throughout the house, to which Sam directed his attention to. Ariel slowly approached from the kitchen, an angel blade in her hand.

Sam and Bobby shared another look before snapping their heads to the blonde, who was shoving the knife into the holster on her waist. Dean cut off Sam's train of thought by saying, "I'm coming to get you and your mom, I promise. You with me, Ben?"

Dean removed the phone from his ear and opened his mouth to speak. Though he instantly closed it once someone spoke into the device in his hand. His face hardened as he listened.

"Crowley, let 'em go now, or I swear. . ."

Ariel flinched sightly in the corner of Sam's eyes. The name of one of her enemies sent chills down her spine as she eavesdropped in on the cellphone conversation. Her face was scrunched in concentration as she listened to Crowley speak.

"What's the story?" Bobby asked once Dean had placed the phone back onto the table.

Dean paused as he let out a sigh. "He said Lisa and Ben keep breathing as long as we sit on our thumbs." He muttered. Sam shook his head. He knew that his brother was not going to actually follow what Crowley had instructed.

"You think Cas knows about this?" Sam asked, glancing at his older brother.

"We gotta assume he does." Dean stated before rising from his seat. Sam did the same before following Dean to the middle of the living room. "Ariel? Why are you here?" He asked.

She lifted her head, and looked up at Dean. "I was informed of this, and I am here to help."

Dean let out a sigh. "Sam, you and Bobby stay on the Lovecraft thing and have her help you."

"Dean." Ariel spoke, taking a step towards him. "This is my mission, and I will not let you stop me. You need me."

Dean shook his head. "Not happening."

Sam sighed. "Come on, Dean. She's trying to name amends. If she does us dirty, we can kill her with an angel blade." The taller one said.

Dean groaned loudly before running his hands over his face, and through his hair. "Fine!" He called out, the frustration practically radiating off of him. "You can help."

"Now how are you three gonna find Lisa and Ben?" Bobby asked.

THE PLAN THAT everyone came up with, was to summon the angel Balthazar. Luckily, Ariel had become friends with him, so she proved to be a useful asset to the brothers.

Sam, Dean and Ariel stood around a bowl in the middle of Bobby's junkyard. Broken and rundown cars littered the area around all of them. Ariel was leaning against one of the machines, with her hands running along the plants that had imbedded itself into the vehicle. She had caused the flora to suddenly rid itself of the brown color, to gain a more green and lively one.

Dean dropped a match into the bowl, thus causing the lights around the three to spark and fade out. Balthazar appeared shortly after, a drink sitting in his hand. "I'm sorry boys, do I look like a man servant to you? Quit ringing for me, please." The male angel rolled his eyes.

"This is important, Balthazar." Ariel stated, walking forward and crossing her arms over her chest.

Balthazar rolled his eyes, "My dearest sister, I was drinking a '75 Dom out of a soprano's navel when you called. That was important."

"Crowley's alive." Sam stated with a nod of his head.

Balthazar sipped from his cup and muttered, "Well you've been scooped. Cas already told me."

"Well did Cas tell you that he is Crowley's butt-buddy, you smug little dick?" Dean stated, clearly not messing around.

Balthazar gave him an a taken back look before muttering, "Excuse me?"

"Handshake deal. Go halfsies on all the souls of Purgatory. He fill you in on that?" Sam asked, crossing his arms over my chest.

Balthazar shifted uncomfortably. "Well, yes, yes. Yes, of course he did. Yes." It was clear that he was lying.

"Oh, yes, of course. We can read it all over your face." Sam muttered sarcastically.

Ariel took a small step forward and spoke with compassion, "Look, Crowley and Cas took two people who are very important to Dean." Balthazar still had no care in the world.

"And I care about this because? Quite frankly, I'm surprised that you care about this, Ariel." Balthazar stated.

"Because maybe there is a shred of decency underneath this — this snarky crap." Dean paused, in which Balthazar sipped his drink. "They're innocent people and I'm asking for your help." He continued.

"Hmmm. I see. Fair enough." Balthazar stated before disappeared with the sound of wings flapping.

The three left let out groans of annoyance. "Son of a bitch!" Dean screamed.

"Look, Dean. Let's just call Cas. Maybe he doesn't know anything about this." Sam stated, hoping to get him to give in. It didn't work that well.

Dean sneered, "We are not calling Cas."

"Dean-" Ariel started to say something but was cut off.

"We're not calling Cas!" Dean screamed again, hitting the roof of the car.

Ariel and Sam both flinched noticeably before Sam said, "So what then?"
