Chapter Two: Lost

Luca's POV

I growled angrily, slamming my hand onto the wooden desk that sat in front of me. I looked up to see my Beta not amused at my behavior instead he rolled his eyes.

"Don't worry Luca, you'll find her soon," Blake said in a calm tone for the millionth time.

I sighed, groaning loudly.

"No, it's not okay. I was supposed to have her 5 years ago, and she still isn't here with me."

My mate was out there somewhere and I still wasn't able to find her. I have just started to give up hope, maybe, just maybe, I didn't have one.

Ignoring Blake, I decided to continue with the stacks of paperwork waiting for me. This conversation wasn't meant to occur, it just did.

"Luca, you need to talk about this! We are one of the largest packs excluding Alpha Tracey. We NEED a Luna Queen. What if we hooked you up with an Alpha's daughter. I could call Alpha Jackson or even Alpha Davis, They have daughters with Alpha blood. At this point, there is no reason to wait for your ma-"

"ENOUGH! AND THAT'S AN ORDER!" I yelled, using my Alpha tone.

Standing up from my chair, I feel my eyes darken and canines grow out. Blake nodded, bowing his head down in slight shame.

"Whatever you say, Alpha," he started to open my office door to head out before he left, he said, "You're are not the only one heartbroken, we all need our Queen."

The door slammed behind him.

I sighed, putting my hands in my face taking a seat, then grabbing a pen getting ready to sign off some of the paperwork.

My vision started to blur as tears began to well up in my emerald green eyes, I sniffed trying to prevent the tears from pouring.

My sadness was soon covered by anger, as my wolf kept trying to take over. I wanted to kill Blake right now, my frustration increased by the second.

I roared in anger, flipping my desk, and throwing my chair across the room. My breaths became heavy as I growled in pure anger. My wolf wants to come out. I roared louder, breaking anything near me.

I tug on my black hair quickly running out of my office. I needed to forget this conversation.

Running out of the Packhouse while taking a deep breath of fresh air, there were many things I needed to worry about and a mate wasn't one them.

I decided to check on the pack warriors, wanting to watch them train to calm me down. I saw Blake with his arms folded, watching them also.

I used all my strength to not kill him right then and there. I walked up next to him, folding my arms also, squinting my eyes from the sun, watching my warriors training well.

"I'm sorry," Blake said blandly.

With a sigh, I rest my right hand on his shoulder, patting him on the back.

"You're cleaning my office, I need everything fixed before tomorrow morning. That's an order."

I turned away watching my men and women shift into wolves and learning self-defense. The sound of Blake leaving left me to think. What if I really didn't have a mate? There have been incidents in the past, so it's not impossible.

My mind began to wonder, how she would have smelled, or how she would have looked.

If she was tall or short. My mind wandered to how it would feel every time we would touch, kiss, mate. No, no more thinking, this was distracting me.

Shaking my head, I just couldn't seem to stop thinking about it. I am an Alpha King without a Queen beside me.

She was never coming and I need to stop making myself weak. I was alone, ruling a pack of 2500 people with just a Beta, who has already found his mate. I had no one and it seems like I never will. My wolf whimpered.

I sniffed the air, smelling a foul smell. What the hell was that? I shift my head away from the warriors and began to sniff the air more. Worry washed over me from the pack members and warriors, causing me to look around for danger.

'Alpha, we are being ambushed! We need help on the southern border!' A pack warrior had mind linked me. Again? I immediately shifted into my wolf ripping the clothing that I was wearing.

My pitch black wolf ran straight to the border where rogues were piling in nonstop.

I snarled to one who dared to challenge me, I bit into his neck throwing him into the mutt that was behind me.

A loud roar rumbled out of me, causing a group of rogues to run towards me. I howled loudly feeling a sharp pain in my lower leg.

I scratched the one in front of me, causing him to whimper in pain. My legs went up kicking the mutt behind me. I ran towards the pack warriors fighting off the rest of them.

At least I don't have to worry about a mate getting hurt. The taste of blood filled my mouth as I killed and killed until there was only a couple left. I growled before mind linking a few pack warriors.

"Take them to the cells, we will have a little chat soon." I snarled. They bowed their heads to me before taking the two rogues with them. I ran back to the Packhouse.

Howling once more I continue to run back to the Packhouse. Once I made it, I shifted back quickly and ran to my room to change into some clothes.

Blake was inside my office, cleaning up the mess I made. The vacuum turning on and off. We needed to talk to those rogues, it seemed like many of them kept coming, and more frequently. I needed to find out where they were coming from and why.

Diana's POV

The cold water was splashed into my face, causing me to screech loudly. Hayden burst out laughing swimming towards a few other youth kids. I suddenly felt myself being lifted off of the ground of the river.

I quickly grabbed onto the person's head trying not to fall. I looked down to see Daniel. I pulled his cheeks, making him look up annoyed, puffing out a warm breath of air.

I felt my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. I looked in front of me to see Lena on top of Aiden's shoulder. I folded my arms and raised my right eyebrow smirking. They just challenged me. I glanced down at Daniel before speaking

"Is that a challenge?" My voice was strong.

I saw Lena smirk with me before nodding her head once. Daniel started to move closer to Aiden. Bouncing me a little to get a better grip on my legs, before clearing his throat, signaling to me that he was ready.

"Ready...GO!"

Lena got a tight hold on my arms, trying to push me down and I did the same. I felt myself tilt back, yet I caught myself then pushing her.

She screamed falling back, bringing Aiden down with her. I raised my arms up in victory and did a little dance. I decided to lean back and feel the cold water hit my skin, I heard Daniel scream as he fell with me. I held my breath being consumed by the water.

The sudden rush of cold air hit my skin as I got out of the water, taking my hands and flipping my hair back, wiping the water off of my face. I got out of the water, my all-black one-piece swimsuit completely soaked along with my very short swim shorts. I started to walk back to the camp, humming 'words' by Anna Graceman, getting my towel off of the tree branch.

My body was soon engulfed by the pure white towel as I continued my journey back. The feeling of someone watching me came back, I started to walk faster and soon I made it to the camp. I laid my towel down onto the ground near the fire pit.

It seemed like this is my favorite spot. The feeling of loneliness washes over my body, causing me to think about life. Will I ever meet anyone who would love me? I crossed my legs, resting my arm on them and lying my chin on my hand.

"Here we go again, Diana."

Another day of feeling insecure and alone. Sure I had Daniel, I mean he's my friend, I know I had the whole gang, or well, they had me.

Alex, I helped him get over the death of his father. I was there in the hospital, and still here with him to this day. He is now happy and feels better than ever.

Daniel, his girlfriend broke up with him after three years, I was his shoulder to cry on. I was his date for all those dances at school. Now I am his good friend and he has found a place in our group.

Hayden, awe man. I convinced him to propose to Jade on our mission trip as we went to go pick up the foster kids to spend the day with them. Now he's having a kid and needs to worry about his wife and child. Jade never really told anyone she was pregnant, but it was quite obvious she was.

Aiden, I went to every single one of his basketball games, football games, and lacrosse games. I was his number one supporter. Though when I had a competition, he never showed up. He is great at pretty much everything. I was proud of him.

I sighed, stretching my arms, we are all too busy. That's okay because they knew I would be there for anything they needed in their lives, I was their number one. But they were never mine. I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard a twig snap. I swung my head towards the sound, gulping quietly, holding my breath. I stood up from my towel, heading near the sound with caution.

"H-hello? It's okay you can come out, I won't hurt you." I whispered softly.

A loud growl was heard, and a strong odor took over my senses. I gasped watching as the animal came out, he had those glowing eyes I saw last night. It was a wolf, except he looked very sickly, I tried to pet him, and comfort him. He snarled and began barking. I screamed the loudest I've ever screamed in my life and started to run deep into the woods.

Wood chips and rocks cut the bottoms of my feet but I didn't care at this point. I turned to see the wolf hot on my tail, running faster by the second. My feet took me anywhere, as to survive from the wolf chasing me. Checking around I needed to find a way to get rid of the wolf. I saw a tree that had branches you were able to climb.

That was exactly what I did, I climbed and climbed until I couldn't anymore. I breathed in heavily, I think I lost him. Closing my eyes, I looked up at the sky, it was getting dark fast. I saw a couple of stars gleam out a little along with the crescent moon.

Tears welled up in my eyes and I completely lost it, sobbing as loud as I can. The sound of bones cracking made me hold my breath, shifting my eyes slowly to see what was under me. I screamed once more seeing a nude man climbing the tree, trying to grab me.

Jumping off the tree, I fell to the ground, hurting my foot. I yelped in pain, crawling on the ground trying to getaway. With all my strength I got off of the ground, limping to anywhere. Every step was painful, bringing more tears in my eyes. I turned back to see nothing.

He was gone. I found a place to sit down, limping my way towards a large tree. I sat down, leaning my back against it and brought my knees to my chest, crying myself to sleep. Someone, help me.
