Chapter Three: Xavier

Diana's POV

A bright light hit my skin, causing me to groan and rub my puffy eyes. I sat down, stretching my arms and back, feeling sore around my whole body. I hissed in slight pain, trying to get up off of the ground so I can find my way back to the camp, or anywhere else but here.

"Come on Diana, you can do it. Just a little adventure, that's all you are on."

I gave myself small words of encouragement, finally pulling myself up. Yes! mental high-five! I smiled brightly, before walking deeper into the woods trying to find a way to get the hell out of here.

Many sounds were heard, some calming me down, like the birds chirping, while others terrified me, like the wolves howling, or even the bunnies and deer running. Every step I took was sharp, as my foot wasn't doing too well.

I looked down, watching it bruise a tiny bit and I thanked God it wasn't broken, I sigh in relief and continue walking, well limping to find a way out. I heard a twig snap behind me, shoot not again.

I groaned, quickly hiding behind a tree and looking around to find some sort of weapon for self-defense. My head shifted down to see a broken tree branch. I guess this will just have to do. The sound of footsteps was coming closer to me making my heart race faster and faster.

I let out a shaky breath, holding the stick tightly ready to hit the man. I saw the man turn and stand next to me. I screamed closing my eyes and hit him in the head causing him to back up.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow..."

I peeked open one eye to see a man, a fully clothed one at that, holding his head, hissing in pain. My eyes widened as I dropped the stick and covering my mouth, my eyes tearing up again.

"Oh my God! I'm so sorry, I-I thought you were someone else. Please forgive me!"

I stared at him, observing his every move, watching him squint his eyes open in pain, staring at me. The only thing heard was my sniffling and hiccups.

The man walked closer, blocking the sunlight and causing me to back up with caution. I saw him, and my breath hitched a little. He was cute. The way his jawline was sharp and had a very clean face it seemed like he shaved recently.

He was well built and might I say tall, he had a very pale tone. His eyes were blue like the ocean. I saw him smile at me awkwardly, watching me staring at him. A blush creeps onto my face making me look down.

"It's okay, don't worry about it, I would have done it myself if I heard someone following me." I smiled a little, sticking my hand out politely.

"Hi, I'm Diana."

He grabbed my hand with his large one, making me feel small in front of him. I looked down again, clearing my throat.

"I'm Xavier." I gaped at him.

Xavier was looking down at my foot, He looked angry? I saw him sigh and ask me about my foot with worry,

"What happened? Are you okay? Who did this to you?"

He looked at me with a stern look.

I gulped at him, wide-eyed.

"You won't believe me, plus I literally just met you and you would think I'm crazy."

He raised an eyebrow crossing his buff arms across his well-sculpted chest. I tried so hard not to stare, though I glanced once or twice without him noticing I hope. I sighed in defeat, breathing in some air and letting it out slowly. Here we go.

"I went swimming with my youth group last night, I decided to head back to our campsite just so I could be alone. I saw these eyes, they were glowing like a yellow color. I reassured the animal, letting him know that I wouldn't hurt him. It was a wolf. Forget it, you are really going to think I'm insane after this."

"No no no no keep going. I was getting interested."

I saw his eyes, they looked like they were desperate and begging to know. I nodded continuing on with my story.

"It was a wolf, he smelled awful, though I didn't let it get to me. I tried to pet him, letting him know that he was safe with me. He began to bark and snarl, chasing me away from the campsite. I ran and found a tree I could climb, you know since wolves can't climb trees? or so I thought. I heard bones crunching and saw the wolf turn into a man. He began climbing and I jumped out of the tree, hurting my foot in the process. Which brings us to now."

He stared at me with a look that could kill someone in an instant.

"You saw a wolf, turn into a human?" I groaned. it was my turn to cross my arms.

"I knew you wouldn't believe me."

Xavier shook his head, his eyes closing, chuckling slightly before scratching his neck.

"Well you are hurt, and we need to check that foot out. Come, we can head to my house and I can call a pa- doctor to check that out."

I raised my eyebrow, putting my hand on my hips. I felt a sheer type of cloth, I snapped my head down, remembering that I am only in a swimsuit. I gasped loudly, trying to cover myself.

"I'm so sorry! I totally forgot that I was wearing just a swimsuit!"

My face became flushed as I saw him laugh. Xavier grabbed my arms, putting them down to my sides.

"Don't hide, you're beautiful," he whispered, coming closer to me.

I swallowed my spit, breathing heavily. I laughed awkwardly, moving back a little.

"As I said I had just met you, do you really think I would just go with you to your house?"

"You told me your story, I'm pretty sure we passed the 'I had just met you' part." he made air quotes while talking.

I glared at him with caution.

"Touché."

"Great! Let's continue this way and we will be there in no time." I flinched when he yelled happily. I could tell he noticed as the smile on his face faded away in an instant.

"Sorry." I giggled, shaking my head.

I saw him take his shirt off, making me cover my eyes in an instant.

"Woah, what the HELL are you doing?" He uncovered my eyes with his warm hand, giving me his plain white t-shirt.

"Just in case."

He winked at me and continued walking. I stared at him in awe, before putting on his shirt. It smelled just like him, making me melt slightly. Diana get yourself together! You shouldn't even be thinking this. I tried walking and hissed in pain. Xavier stopped walking, hearing me and turned around, jogging to me immediately. I saw him bend his knees, his perfect back facing me.

"Get on."

I was skeptical and hesitant before climbing onto his back. He pushed me up, trying to get a better grip onto my thighs. I wrapped my arms around his neck moving my head close to his shoulder.

"Wow, you're really light." I rolled my eyes, huffing out a puff of air.

"I weigh 135 pounds, thank you very much."

He chuckled deeply, making my heart jump a tiny bit. I decided to get to know the stranger who was carrying me on his back.

"Wanna play 20 questions?" I waited for a reply until he nodded.

"Sure." I started by asking him a simple question.

"What's your favorite color?" He laughed at me.

"Really? Alright, I guess blue." I hummed in delight, glad he actually answered. It was his turn to ask me.

"Do you have a...boyfriend?" I didn't reply for a moment. Wow, right to the point kind of guy.

"No." I felt his shoulders relax. My turn.

"How old are you?" He stopped walking for a moment, clearing his throat. He mumbled,

"22." My eyes widened.

"22!?!" I shrieked, putting my hand over my mouth, as I saw Xavier flinch at my high pitched tone. He began walking again.

"How...uh...old are you?" He mumbled this time.

"18."

I knew he heard me. We suddenly came to a complete stop and I looked up. Woah. The house was beautiful, it was a nice brown color on the outside, with a large patio in the back, which is where I assumed we were. I shifted a little trying to get a better look. Xavier tightened his grip on me and walked towards the front door.

The creaking door opened leading us right into the kitchen. I gasped in shock looking at how beautiful it was. I was put down onto one of the stools by the island, and Xavier turned to look at me.

"Are you hungry? I can make you something to eat until we wait for the doctor to show up."

I nodded a little, playing with my hands that were resting on my lap. I heard his feet shuffle to get to the other side of me. Then I heard the fridge open. I started to play with the cross on my neck, reminding me that I had to go back. I needed to find them, my group.

I sighed, turning to watch Xavier making me a sandwich, his back was facing me and I could see his muscles working as he continued. I basically had to ask myself not to drool. I yelped, when I heard the kitchen door slam open revealing a handsome man, much shorter than Xavier, seemed more my age.

"Alpha! Rogues near the territory again. It seems like Alpha Mason has been having some trouble also!" I saw Xavier's back stiffen. What the hell is an Alpha? Are they talking about what Jesus had said to his disciples? Rogues? I don't even know what that means. I saw the man suddenly look at me with a shocked look, before turning his gaze back to Xavier.

"Xavier, who is she?" He raised his thumb at me. I heard Xavier sigh and quickly jog towards me.

"Listen, Diana, I need you to stay put! Do you understand?" I gave him a look of worry.

"What? Why? Xavier, what is going on?" I kept asking him questions, but he ignored me and ran.

"Matt, I need you to look after her!" He ran and ran, never turning back. My mouth was open as I watched him leave me alone with yet again another stranger I have never met. Matt, I believe his name is turned to look at me, giving me a goofy smile. I just smiled back.

"Hi, I'm Diana." I raised my hand out politely, waiting for him to grasp it.

"Beta Matt." I looked at him confused, shaking his hand very slowly.

"Beta what?" He looked at me confused too.

"Beta....as in second in command...you know?"

I shook my head, looking at the ceiling.

"No, I don't know."

"How do you not know? Did Alpha Xavier not tell you anything?" I shook my head once again no, urging him to tell me.

He chuckled slightly before looking at me straight in the eyes. I stared right back.

"Babe, we're werewolves."
