Chapter One: Diana
Xavier's POV
'Wow, she is beautiful.' My wolf said breathlessly.
I hummed in response and hid further behind the tree. A gasp left my lips when she turned her perfect figure to face me.
I bit my bottom lip, trying to get rid of all the sinful thoughts that were roaming my head.
Her smooth toffee skin looked so pure, her brown eyes showing curiosity.
She fiddled with the silver cross on her neck as she played with her pitch-black hair with one hand.
"You ready?"
I glanced at her left seeing another girl, a friend maybe?
She had the same skin tone, long dark brown hair, and was slightly shorter. They began to walk in my direction. Shit.
"So how does it feel being 19, birthday girl?" I heard her beautiful voice ask.
Her friend scoffed ignoring the question completely.
"How does 18 feel?"
My eyes widened and I covered my mouth from yelling something. She was 18?
Alpha King Xavier Tracey's Luna Queen, an 18-year-old. It sounded so right.
"Same old, same old." She replied.
"Dianaaaa, I'm seriously like getting old, that's not good." Her friend whined.
Diana, beautiful name.
The way she laughed made me feel all sorts of things, things that are completely unexplained.
Rustling was soon heard in the bushes, causing both of them to stop. I grew my claws out and canines, ready to get rid of any harm that came her way.
Two boys jumped out, causing both of them to scream loudly, I growled in anger at the puny boys who were laughing.
"Not funny Daniel," Diana muttered to the peach skinned boy with ashy blonde hair.
He shook his head and pulled her into a side hug.
I felt jealousy rise in me.
"Oh come on, it wasn't that bad."
He gave a cheesy smile to the tall dark-skinned man.
Diana pulled away from his grasp, making me smile. What has this girl gotten me into?
I stepped back a bit and broke a twig with my foot. Damn it.
Diana's POV
"Did you hear that?"
I turned my head towards the direction the noise came from.
Fear crept into my body and I felt shivers running down my spine.
"Let's head back, it's getting a little dark anyway," Lena said.
My head shifted to the pretty girl, agreeing with her. The boys walked in front of us, leaving both of us behind.
"Idiots," I muttered under my breath.
We started heading back to my group where everyone else was.
You all are probably wondering, what the hell are they doing in the middle of the woods?
Well, we decided that camping was the best way to get to know each other a little more, yet somehow I still felt like I didn't fit in.
As soon as we made it back, the smell of s'mores hit me, making me moan in delight.
"Finally you guys are back."
I shifted my head to my side seeing Hayden's tall figure, he was well built and wore glasses. His tanned skin made his body more toned.
For a firefighter, he was still a pretty big dork.
"Lena had to go...pee," I said awkwardly.
Lena gave me a small smack in the head, making Daniel and Aiden snicker.
I rubbed my head trying to get the painful sensation to go away.
"Hey, not nice Lena." Hayden disciplined.
I stuck my tongue out at her and folded my arms in a childish manner.
"Knock it off Diana."
A growl was heard from the trees causing me to quickly hide behind Daniel.
"What the heck was that?"
"Diana really?" Aiden asked annoyed.
He was tall, a tint darker than Lena, and I, also known as my dumb ass cousin.
"You aren't afraid of anything, but a small noise in the woods terrifies you, how confusing," Aiden added.
I shook my head, holding onto Daniel's shirt.
"You all don't understand."
In the corner of my eye, I saw Jade walk to Hayden, giving him a quick peck.
She was beautiful, red hair and pale, she had electric blue eyes. Freckles covered her body giving more beauty than she already had, she was slim, very slim.
"What's going on here?" She asked, her soothing voice calming everyone down.
"Nothing." We all said simultaneously.
This was seriously going to be a long week.
*****
"Want one?"
Daniel handed me a s'more, the marshmallow oozing from the sides. I took it from him taking a small and slow bite.
I moaned as the sweetness of the chocolate and marshmallow combination touched my taste buds.
"Yum." I giggled.
My eyes looked up at the sky seeing the moon-shaped like a crescent. My mouth was agape in amazement.
"I would close your mouth Diana, you'll catch mosquitoes."
I closed my mouth quickly and gave Daniel an irritated look. A feeling of someone watching me started to fill my gut, but I shook it off.
My vision went behind Daniel, checking the dark woods seeing yellow eyes staring at us.
"What?" Daniel questioned as he looked back.
They were gone.
"Diana, what's wrong?" He asked, worry filling his voice.
"There was something behind you."
I pointed towards the darkness. He scoffed bringing his attention back to me.
"If this is your way of getting back at me, you're doing a pretty bad job." He joked.
I gave him a stern look, letting him know that I wasn't joking around.
"I'm serious Daniel, I seriously saw something. It-it was like glowing." He sighed and started walking to the place where I had seen those eyes.
"No, no Daniel don't go there."
I grabbed a hold of his hand, trying to pull him back down.
"Don't worry Diana, I'm just going to go check it out."
He pulled away slightly and headed further into the woods. I was left alone, the same feeling of someone watching me washed over again.
"Beautiful."
With my head on a swivel, I turn around. Who the hell said that?
"Nothing. I'm sure you are just getting paranoid...are you sure you're okay Diana? You seem a lot more jumpy than usual."
My body jolted when Daniel spoke. That was fast.
"I-I'm fine, just having a weird feeling, telling me that something is going to happen," I replied.
Daniel grabbed my hand and pulled me up off of the ground.
"Hayden's planning on going swimming in the river tomorrow morning, why don't you get some rest?"
I nodded agreeing with him.
"Sure, where's Alex? Haven't seen him in a while," I questioned.
Alex was the youngster in the group, a year younger than me actually. Though I was Ms. Goody two shoes, he was always better than me. I respected the kid.
"He's been at the camp, just watching over everything, and just been chilling around," Daniel spoke.
He was okay, that's good. A cold breeze passed by causing me to shiver, Daniel seemed to take notice. He took off his hoodie, handing it to me.
"Thank you," I whispered.
We headed back to the fire pit where everyone was sitting and making s' mores.
"How was the walk?" Aiden asked as soon as we made it back.
I stayed quiet and sat next to Lena, lying my head onto her shoulder.
"Diana, what's wrong?" Alex asked.
"Alex!" I squealed hugging him as he sat next to me.
He pulled away giving me a funny look causing me to shake my head laughing and put my forehead on Lena's shoulder.
"How are you?" I asked Lena.
"Alone, single, getting ready to die alone." I clicked my tongue.
"Don't say that you'll find someone, this man will be a daddy and I know it OR woman!" I predicted,
She burst out laughing, pushing me off of her.
"Like hell, you know! But thank you." She appreciated.
I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment, loving every second of it while breathing heavily. I soon covered my mouth immediately, trying not to gag.
"Do you smell that?" I asked the group sitting around me, disgust clear on my features.
Everyone shook their head. I really am going crazy.
"It's the outdoors Diana, not everything is going to smell like perfume and pancakes." Aiden answer giving me sass.
I sniffed a little more air, trying to trace the scent. It was coming from deeper in the woods. Standing up slowly I shuffled to the smell of rotting eggs and well...death.
My lips parted, as I saw those yellow eyes again. It growled at me and ran away. I fell to the ground in shock, What in God's name was that? Running back to the group, I decided to stay quiet, not wanting them to think I had gone completely insane.
"Find anything, Diana?"
"N-no," I stuttered.
"I think I'm going to head to sleep, a big day tomorrow," I added.
I made my way to the tent Lena and I was sharing, changing into some clothes. A pair of Aiden's old basketball shorts and a baggy shirt to be exact.
"Thank God." I moaned relieved, feeling the comfort of my blanket dosing me off to sleep.
Xavier's POV
She made her way into the tent, the flashlight on. I saw her shadow as she began undressing slowly. My wolf howled, tongue sticking out.
Horny bastard.
Diana began taking her pants off, her slim legs now in perfect vision. I tried my hardest not to drool or barge into that tent, claiming her as mine.
Goodnight Diana, please be safe.
I headed back to my territory, which felt like forever as I walked away from her.
Once I made it back, I walked through the kitchen door, opening the fridge and grabbing a beer. Sighing, I made my way to the living room seeing Matt, my Beta, laying on the couch, watching some dumb t.v. show.
"Sup, Alpha. Where the f*ck have you been?"
Rolling my eyes at his choice of words, a clicking sound rung in my ears as I popped the lid off of the beer bottle with my claw.
"I've...been around the, um, territory. Just looking out for the rogues, seem to be a big problem nowadays."
I knew he didn't believe me, yet he wouldn't dare question me. I took a large swig of the beverage in my hand, sighing in relief afterward.
"All day?" He questioned, his eyes never leaving the t.v.
"It doesn't matter, I'm here now."
My thoughts kept wandering back to Diana, I just couldn't help myself and neither could my wolf. He wanted her, though she wasn't our mate, there was a connection between us for some reason, I could feel it.
'Oh, now you are just exaggerating.' Sean, my wolf spoke.
I blocked off my connection with him and thought about a future we could have together. Problem is, she's not meant to be mine AND she's human. It would never work out, but I am going to try my hardest to make it.
"Something's on your mind Alpha, what's bothering you?" Matt asked, finally peeling his eyes off of the t.v. I grumbled and glared at him.
"I'm fine." My voice was deeper than usual. Another lie, right off the bat. Of course, I wasn't fine, she brought actual feelings in me, lust, and love at first sight.
This was getting way too weird. I stood up from the leather couch, balancing myself before heading into my bedroom.
The oak door slammed open and I soon threw myself on the large king-size bed in the middle of the room, the cool duvet sheet touching my back.
These past couple days I have done nothing but stalk...well in my defense...protect her. I avoided all of my Alpha duties, ignoring any problem that would come my way.
I knew that this would come to bite me in the ass at the end of the week, but I didn't care.
"OH SHIT!" Matt yelled at the t.v.
He was watching a game I believe. I set the beer bottle down on the nightstand next to me, kicking off my shoes and socks. My eyes began to feel heavy and soon later I fell asleep dreaming about Diana.
