Chapter 2
I woke up and jumped in the shower. The hot water felt great on my skin. I hopped out and got changed into something to fit in with the Capitol style. I put the locket back on and walked into the dining room where breakfast was set. This time there were limitless platters and two sets of plates, silverware and cups. I sat down confused, but just shrugged it off and never gave it a second thought. I put scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, and a chocolate chip muffin on my plate. I ate my food like it was a normal day, like I've been here forever. After I was done I sat in the living room and turned on the ending speech from the end of the Hunger Games last night.
"Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen had won the Hunger Games. Now they are going home to see their families. Isn't that sweet." I turned off the television with anger.
"It should've been me and Cato who got to go back home. Not Katniss and Peeta." I stated angrily not noticing that Snow had entered.
"Cato's death was Katniss's fault, not your own." Snow said putting air quotes around Cato's death.
"What were the air quotes for?" I asked confused.
"You'll see! It's all part of your birthday gift." Snow exclaimed and I remembered that it was my birthday indeed. I'm now seventeen years old. I watched as he sat by the random piano by the television.
"Why don't you play me a song?" He asked. How did he know I could play piano?
"What song?" I asked.
"Anyone of your choice dear. It is your birthday." He said and I smiled. I sat down. Sad Song by We The Kings is what I chose. I played and the notes flowed off my fingers like a beautiful waterfall. I reminded me so much of Cato. Tears filled my eyes, but I blinked them back. I missed having Cato beside me to turn the pages. He would help me get better when I played just by being there. I played as if he were really there. Towards the end I felt the presence of another person, but I kept playing till the end. I then turned around and I couldn't believe my eyes. Was that really Cato?? There was only one way to know for sure.
"That was beautiful Clover Flower." He said and I knew it was really him because that was the nickname he gave me. I got up and ran over to him engulfing him in a hug.
"I missed you Cato." I stated crying into his shoulder.
"I missed you too Clove." Cato exclaimed and before we could kiss, Snow coughed.
"I'm sorry, for a minute I thought you weren't here." I stated.
"That's alright, I just wanted Cato to get to eat his breakfast. We have a long day ahead of us." Snow stated.
"What are we doing today?" Cato asked casually.
"We are reintroducing you to the public as my special agents working for me. I have a feeling you two would be the best seeing how good you have done in the Games." Snow said and I smiled.
"Thank you, I really appreciate you giving us a job." I stated. We all chatted about it while Cato ate breakfast. I was so excited to be working for Snow. During the day I went shopping with Effie Trinket, the lady who announced the tribute names for the games. She was nice, but she thought it was cheating for Snow to save us like that. I stated that it wasn't cheating and that she shouldn't talk bad about Snow. They were his games and he can do what he likes with his game pieces. She was offly quiet after that. I picked out my dress and couldn't wait to spend some time with Cato. I really missed him and he missed me. I'm glad he's back.
