Chapter 1
I was dead. I'm sure I was. The last thing I remember was Thresh hitting me over the head with a rock and now I'm back in the capital. They are keeping me the Penthouse where Katniss and Peeta had stayed before the games. I was upset, angry. Cato was there watching and didn't even try to save me. I loved him and he left me to die. Why should I have trusted him? It was the Hunger Games for gosh sakes. He probably would've killed me anyway. But why was I still alive? What did they want me for?... I really have a bad feeling about this. I looked at my outfit. It was like they had a funeral service for me. I added a flower crown and walked out. I walked into the living area. President Snow was there watching the games.
"She lives again. Come join me." He said patting the seat next to him. I went over without questioning him and sat down.
"Here they send the dogs." Snow stated and I watched as Peeta and Katniss fought with Cato.
"I'm already dead. So is she." Cato exclaimed and I started to cry as Katniss shot Cato's hand letting him fall down to the mutts. I couldn't help myself. I lost it. I cried as President Snow pulled me into a hug.
"There, there, we will avenge him. I promise." Snow said. I knew I could trust him.
"Thank you... for saving me, but why?" I asked.
"You'll know in time, but for now you need rest. I'll be back to check on you after the games." Snow stated and I nodded.
"Goodnight President Snow. It was a pleasure to meet you." I exclaimed putting my hand out for him to shake. "It was a pleasure for me to." He said shaking my hand. He left and I was soon alone. I shut off the television and cried into my hands. How could Peeta do something like that?! He's the weak one. Cato should've killed him when he had the chance... and because of Peeta and Katniss Cato is gone. The girl avox who stood by the table with a plate of different desserts looked a bit sympathetic towards me. She came over to me and let me hug her. I felt a little bad for her... I mean the girl is living without a tongue and can never taste anything ever again.
"Would you like to join me for dessert? You can have some if you want." I said and she nodded happily. I walked into the kitchen to see a blender. I picked it up and brought it into the dining room. I plugged it in and let her put whatever she wanted into the machine. I picked up a champagne and raspberry cupcake. They are my favorite seeing as my mom would only make them on my brithday. I took a bite and thought about my sixteenth birthday. I invited Cato over to celebrate with me. That's when we told my parents about our relationship. That was only a year ago and now he was dead. I finished my cupcake and excused myself from the table. I went into my room and sat on my bed. I noticed that the there was a locket on the table next to my bed. It wasn't just any locket, but the locket my grandfather gave to my grandmother who gave it to my father who gave it to my mother. Now I had it. I opened it to see a picture of Cato and I. My tears hit the locket as I cried. I closed it and put it around my neck. They can't just win like that... it's not fair. I'll see Snow tomorrow after its all over and I hope he's doing something about this because if he won't, I will.
