Okay, I am going to start this book with the faults/mistakes/imperfections/turn-offs - that's what they are to me, others might not see them as such, though XD - (whatever you would like to call them) relating to...

{WEREWOLVES}

I have to remind you though, what I find as a turn off might not apply to all, but it certainly does apply to a few if not many readers.

And what I include are my thoughts and by no means, I am speaking on behalf of all readers.

As a reader and a huge fan of the werewolf category, I present to you the major turn-offs:

1] "mine," he growled. She gasped. He kissed. She kissed back. Blah blah blah And they lived happily ever after.

Some stories beginning are very intriguing and good written, but some of them - if not all - comes to the point when the main characters meet and I feel that when it happens the writer's mind shut down.

Before you decide to throttle me, let me explain.

Have you not noticed the same thing over and over again?

Every time the main characters in a werewolf story meets, it ends up with the same thing: the male acting all horny and possessive while the female gets scared at first and goes 'Oh, no I never wanted a mate' but then he kiss her and her minds go blank. After the heat cools off, she either starts protesting and plays hard to get or she accept him and you know the rest.

To me, it is very annoying and it makes me regret choosing the book to read because it was so good at first and I was very excited to read it, but then when it turns out like this I get disappointed.

My recommendation to you is to try and avoid this scene not only because it has been used way too many times, but also because it is weird.

Either you paint the female personality in a way that when this time comes - I am speaking about the first time she interacts with the male hero in the story, not the scene - it comes off to reader as natural and sensible or you include this scene mentioned above but with a twist at the same time.

Readers are looking for something new, giving them something they already read will not make them interested in continuing the story even if it will get interesting afterward.

2] don't write when you are overly excited *cough* horny *cough*.

I know you want to kill me, haha, but guys, it is as obvious as a neon sign.

Spicing things up is a good way to keep readers interested, but don't overdo it. It is not an erotic book and if it is, it is better to mention it.

In my opinion as a reader, too many adult scenes will divert the attention from the main plot and the story will lose its essence.

Besides, do you want the readers to become horny 24/7? Have mercy on us please XD

3] obsession, possession, and jealousy.

This thing gets on my nerve. I know - especially when it comes to young readers - that they find it romantic when the male character acts possessive or jealous. But guys, it is a disease not something to admire and I am talking about the unhealthy amount of possessiveness and jealousy the writer includes.

If you imagine it was real, would you accept this?

The answer to this question will determine whether the reader will continue reading or not.

I don't mind a little bit of possessiveness, after all, even in real life, if your boyfriend doesn't act a little possessive then he cares little about you. but there is a limit to everything.

The thing is the picture you paint in your story - whether you notice it or not - is that at some point the male is going to lock up his female in a room and growl at every insect that comes near her.

When I read, I abandon my life in the real world and imagine myself as the female hero in the story, but at the same time I don't abandon my personality and beliefs and that's why if I can't relate to the female character I find it hard to immerse myself in the story and enjoy it. Eventually, I stop reading it. I am telling you this because I believe I am not the only one with this mindset, many are like me and if you lose me as a reader, I am sure you lose others as well.
