|2| Werewolf

I havent chased you off yet?! Good ;)

Here are more for you and remember you have free rein to voice your thoughts, if you feel that you agree, disagree or have another thing to say then don't hesitate, but don't be rude about it.

If you don't like what you are reading or you think what is mentioned doesn't apply to you, don't be hurtful, consider me an angry person who is trying to unleash her anger this way or consider this book as a confession for what I dislike on here (its better than commenting it directly on your story, right?)

If you think I am being rude or unreasonable, then keep your thoughts to yourself...kidding XD

Do tell if you think so, sometimes my tongue run loose...or my fingers in this case ;)

Lets start this chappie with...

1] rejection fever.

What's up with all the rejection stories people?

Aren't mates supposed to be destined for each other, that the moon goddess picked them because they are compatible, the two faces of a same coin? That they complete each other? Then how come rejection is possible. Even if it is, isn't the moon goddess supposed to retaliate, unleash her wrath or provide some justice?

All I find is that he either regret the rejection after she comes back somehow stronger and more beautiful or there is a second mate.

It kills the main point of having a soulmate. Soulmate people! Meaning these things aren't suppose to happen. Period.

Oh, and don't get me started about when you - the writer - make her disappear to train or whatever that makes her change and then come back, miraculously more beautiful and stronger.

First of all, change is never easy. You have to differentiate between attitude, behavior and thoughts/believes.

They are very difficult to change and even so it takes time and vary from one person to another. Some people are more open and can change their beliefs on things if you present true facts and evidence, others not so much.

Some people are willing to change other are not.

So, even after her changing, how do you expect she will fall for him if he is the same person, with the same faults she hated when he rejected her only after SHE alone changed.

And if he accepted her after she changed, don't you thing that he is shallow and that is not true love - not a soulmate thingy.

Besides, making your character change for someone - even if it is not possible with the amount of time you mention - is a No/No for me.

If I put myself in her shoes, I would never change for someone. Change is good especially if you have a fault in you and it is hindering your life, but if you want to change then do it for yourself, your sake, not for someone as fickle and shallow as the male characters you make.

Werewolf stories containing rejection are plenty. If you are thinking of coming up with another one, make sure it stands out, meaning: NO DUPLICATION.

Come up with a new twist, like: include a vengeful witch who wipes out/ alter the character memory or emotions that results in rejection. You can also include things from real life, for example: parents objection to the match, an accident whatever.

Be creative and do not make your story another forgotten piece.

2] make it real.

What I mean to say here doesn't only apply to the werewolf category, but every category with a female lead character.

It is beyond irritating when the female character starts talking or protesting and them the male character shuts her up by kissing.

Seriously!!! Are you for real?!

I mean there is so much wrong in this that many overlook or simply do not notice.

First, when this happens, it gives me the vibe that the female character is brain free.

Lets take a second to look back at the problem here.

It is okay to make her appear that she is lost in the passion, but by doing so you make her appear as brain dead. That she is a bundle of sexual desires, when it is triggered all rationality flow outside the window.

If it happens once, that is okay, but when it happens a lot I can't stand it.

Women are not a breeding machine or sexual creatures with dead brain cells, don't make them appear as such (unless that is what your female character role in your story) especially, when you make their personality as strong, smart and independent when you introduce the character, it doesn't make sense.

Second, if this is done frequently, then how can you claim the male character as her mate - the one who is destined for her, her soulmate and other half. It doesn't make sense. If you intend to show that she is very attracted to him, then you are doing it wrong, because it appears as if he is abusing her feeling by using her desire for him against her.

There is a time for everything. So when you want to spice things up between them, make sure the time is right and she is not about to reveal something important and urgent.

3] you smell what?!!!!

Werewolf are creature with an acute sense of smell.

I'll let you get a peek inside my head when I read a paragraph in a werewolf story about the male character smelling his mate.

He took a deep smell. The intoxicating smell rendering his nose numb from the powerful smell of her. He took another long sniff, spreading his arms wide as if he is embracing the essence of her.

A weird smell attack his nose, blending with the smell of his mate.

Why can't I separate this foul smell from her? He wondered confused.

The female mate noticed her mate lost in her smell, he hasn't noticed her yet, but she did and she realized something and gasped.

"Stop smelling you idiot!! I am on my period!!" She hollered, mortified.

The end XD

Mwahahahha, oh God! *wipe tears*

it is shocking that many scenes when the werewolf male smell his mate scent he only smells either fruit, spices or flowers (her scent) or her lust for him.

What about sweat?!

Or *ahem* when she is at that time of a month?

Unless, your character doesn't bleed, but how come she get pregnant?
You paint an unrealistic vision of your character, it reminds me of old movies where the character have children and then grand children but they never grow or change (and no they are not supernaturals) or when the characters go to sleep and wake up beautiful and perfect, with fresh looking make up and not a single wrinkle on their dress (or am I the only one who likes to place my print on all sides and angles of the bed by rolling and changing positions?)

You might argue with me that it is a minor detail and it doesn't have to be mentioned and I agree. But then you have to STOP overusing the characters sense of smell, that way my over thinking, realistic mind will stop paying attention to these gaps.

4] exaggeration.

This is a huge turn off. A very humongous one.

You see I am a huge K-drama fan. But because they exaggerate a lot especially when it comes to comedy, I find myself disliking the shows more and more to the point they doesn't even grab my attention any longer. That's why I find it hard watching new Korean dramas.

It is the same for me in werewolf stories. But instead of exaggerated comedy scenes, writers exaggerate when it comes to pain.

How many times your character have to be abused and beaten to finally break?

Personally, I hate these kind of stories. True, I liked them at first when I was younger, especially when I was sad or depressed because I needed a good cry, but it isn't funny people.

Your characters suffer more than Cinderella and still comes out of it somehow sane, innocent and good, even a saint can't handle that much!

Hard labor, physical abuse, verbal, mental and emotional abuse and in some cases sexual abuse as well. You put your character through all this AT THE SAME TIME and consider it normal. Even for a supernatural being as a werewolf, she must be immune to torture if she doesn't break under all this.

Tone it down a bit, exaggeration is never good in a story. It is unreal and gets boring.

****

That's it for werewolves guys.

Thoughts?!

Id like to know your opinion about the werewolf topic. Is there other things I've missed or you disagree with some points I mentioned. Feel free to comment below.

Your annoying critic,

Eva.
