Chapter 6
I woke up the next morning to the sound of my father's voice. "Good morning, (F/n). Did you sleep well?"
I nodded but shivered. "Y-Yeah. I... I guess so..."
Sebastian looked at me from where he pulled the curtains open. "Is something wrong?" He asked, walking over to the side of my bed.
I nodded a little. "Y-Yeah... I just had a scary dream."
My father kneeled down next to me and lightly touched my cheek. "Were you scared?"
I shook my head and smiled. "Nope! Because I knew that my daddy would save me if I needed him!"
Sebastian smiled and stood up, taking the plate of food from the cart and giving it to me. "The master will be waking up soon, so I must go. But the master needs me to go with him to investigate a case. Will you be okay staying here with Finny, Mai-rin, and Bardroy?"
I nodded, eager to go play with them. "Yeah! We can have fun outside like yesterday!"
Sebastian chuckled and left a cup of sweetened tea on the nightstand before pushing the cart through the door. "I must go wake the young master. Please get dressed and then as soon as the others are done with their jobs for the day, you all can go play."
I started taking big bites of food and grinned. "Okay!"
Sebastian walked into his master's room after knocking on the door. "Young master, it is time to wake up." The child stirred in his bed before sitting up. "We shall leave for the Scotland Yard headquarters promptly after breakfast to start the investigation." Sebastian informed him, pouring Ciel's tea into a cup before handing it to him. The butler then walked over to open up the curtains, letting the sunlight stream in and light up the room.
Ciel took a small sip of his tea. "Is (F/n) going to be okay staying here?"
Sebastian nodded, picking out Ciel's clothes for the day from the closet. "Yes. If anything, I think she could keep the others out of trouble."
Ciel chuckled. "Right."
I wrapped my tiny arms around Sebastian's neck as he wrapped his arms around my tiny figure. "Be careful, daddy! I love you!" I smiled, placing a small kiss on his cheek.
My father smiled back at me. "I will, and I love you too. Don't get into trouble, and do whatever these three say. Unless it's bad."
I giggled as we parted, nodding. Ciel had his arms crossed and rolled his eyes. "Let's go Sebastian." He ordered turning towards the door.
Sebastian bowed to everyone and followed Ciel out the front door. I turned to the others. "So what should we do?"
Finny grinned. "We could go outside and look for butterflies!"
My eyes widened and sparkled. "Yes!! I love butterflies!" I quickly ran outside with the others and started searching for butterflies. When we would spot one, everyone chased after it. Mai-rin and Bardroy even had nets. Finny tried to get it to fly towards them since he didn't want to hurt the creature. I tried to catch it with my hands. Everyone laughed and laughed, having the most wonderful time. We didn't even go inside for lunch until a few dark clouds appeared overhead.
I laughed as Mai-rin accidentally caught Bardroy in her net and Finny tripped over the both of them. They all fell to the ground, tangled up in a pile. I looked up to find a beautiful white butterfly that seemed as if it were glowing. "I want that one!" I breathed, hurrying after it.
"(F/n)!" Finny called, trying to get untangled from the others, "Hold on!"
But I was fixed on catching this one, beautiful butterfly. I chased it out of the yard and into the forest, forgetting to stay close to the manor. I followed it for a while, ignoring the calls of the other servants from the edge of the forest which were growing more and more faint as I ran. It had started to rain significantly, so I quickly became worried about the poor creature's wings. "Hold on!" I called to it as if it could hear me. The air had become so frigid that I could see a bit of my breath as I spoke. Growing even more worried, I threw out a small bit of my powers and wrapped the creature in a dark cage of shadows. It flapped around frantically, trying to escape.
I wiped a bit of wet hair from my forehead as I took the small box gently into my hands. "You're safe from the rain now," I panted lightly, "I'm gonna take you home!" But when I looked up, I couldn't even remember which way I had come from. I looked around, searching for my footprints or anything that would lead me back, but found nothing. I shivered and wrapped my hands around myself, knowing that wherever I went, the cage would follow.
Suddenly, I heard someone whisper my name. "(F/n)..."
I quickly turned around, hoping to see someone I knew. But there was no one there. "D-Daddy?" I called, "Finny? Mai-rin? Bard-y?" I could feel a few tears spring to my eyes. "Who's there?"
"(F/n)..." I heard the voice call again. I shivered at the sound of the voice that was so familiar.
I froze. "L... Lady in the window?"
"Come with me..." The voice whispered.
I squeezed my eyes tightly shut. "Daddy... I'm scared!" I said softly.
"(F/n)!!" I heard my father's voice from behind me, so I turned. There he was, standing in the rain, his eyes a bright glowing pink. He was holding a briefcase in his hand. "Where have you been?! We've been looking for you everywhe...." He stopped when he saw the tears trailing down my cheeks.
The cage around the butterfly disappeared and the creature flew away. "I... I'm scared...."
Sebastian suddenly dropped the case in the mud and rushed to me, wrapped his arms around me. "Oh, (F/n).... I'm so sorry that I didn't come sooner..."
I wrapped my arms around him as well. "I-I just wanted to catch this butterfly to show it to you..."
My father picked me up and grabbed his case. "It's alright, (F/n).... Let's get you inside."
Sebastian helped me into a new, dry outfit and brought me some warm milk and honey, even though it was still light outside. I looked up into my father's eyes and blinked. "How... How long were you in the forest?"
Sebastian shrugged. "Only about fifteen seconds. Why?"
I shivered. "S-Someone... was calling my name..."
I could see my father stiffen in my peripheral vision. "Did you know who it was?"
I swallowed. "Th-The lady in the window..." I looked up into his wine-red eyes, frightened.
"She's coming to get me."
