Chapter 12

It's been three days since I was sent to live at the town house with Prince Soma and Agni. I hadn't heard from my father since Agni called him to calm me down. Of course I was worried about Sebastian and Ciel, but I was having quite a bit of fun here with Soma, playing hide and seek, tag, and telling silly, nonsense tales at dinner.

I was currently in one of our games of hide and seek, searching for the prince, when the bell for the front door rang. Thinking nothing of it, I spotted Prince Soma's feet underneath one of the curtains, and ran over to him, yanking the curtain away from him.

"Found you!" I squealed in delight.

The prince lifted me up into the air. "Ahh, you're too good at this game, (F/n)!" He laughed.

Then, Agni's voice called out, "(F/n), there's someone here to see you!"

Hand in hand, the prince and I walked into the foyer to see who the guest was. Agni was half smiling when I noticed who was at the door.

I ran to my father, jumping into his strong arms. "Is she gone?" I asked quietly.

Smiling, Sebastian nodded. "Yes. Just as I thought, she came for you, but I was ready, and took care of her."

Crossing his arms, Prince Soma pouted. "Aw... I was hoping she could stay for another day or two..."

I smiled. "Don't worry, Soma, I'll come back to visit you soon!"

My father nodded. "Yes, but for now, we must hurry back to Ciel. It's almost time for lunch."

I waved to the two men standing in the doorway as Sebastian helped me into the carriage as we rode away towards the manor.

Or so I thought.

"Daddy," I asked, "where are we going? Isn't the manor in the other direction?"

Sebastian shook his head. "The Young master and I thought it would be best to get away for a while, so we decided a nice vacation at the hot springs would suffice."

I grinned. "Is Ciel already there, then?"

Smiling warmly, my father nodded. "Yes. Everyone is there, waiting for you."

I smiled, swinging my legs back and forth as I held my father's hand, gazing out at the passing trees, dreaming of the relaxation days to come.

But they would never arrive.

Prince Soma was halfway through his dinner when a loud crack of thunder shook the town house.

He shook his head. "It's amazing how one moment everything can seem fine, and the next, a storm is wreaking havoc on London." He wondered aloud.

"The weather can be a tricky serpent." Agni agreed, "Hopefully this storm, like the others, passes quickly."

Suddenly, snapping both of the men out of their wonderings, the front door bell chimed.

"I wonder who would be out in a storm like this." Agni questioned, heading out of the dining room and into the foyer.

He was surprised to find Sebastian standing in the doorway without an umbrella. "Mr. Sebastian? What are you doing here? And out in this storm, noless?"

Ignoring the pouring rain that was drenching the poor butler, he asked, "Where is (F/n)?"

Agnis brow furrowed. "You already picked her up, Sebastian, and took her back to the manor. Is everything alright?"

Sebastian grit his teeth. "No. Everything is not "alright"."

When we arrived at the hot springs, my father opened his umbrella that had been leaning against the side of the carriage, took my hand and lead me inside.

The short woman at the front desk smiled. "Welcome back, sir!" Stars dancing in her eyes, she gazed at me. "Is this your daughter? She's absolutely beautiful!"

"Thank you for such a lovely compliment." Sebastian thanked her, bowing slightly before leading me down the hallway.

We came to a door labeled "13"; Sebastian knocked before opening it for me to walk inside.

Sitting at the small japanese table was Ciel, eating a small plate of food that looked hurriedly prepared. "You're late, Sebastian."

My father bowed. "My sincere apologies, Young lord. The drive through the storm took longer than expected."

I sat down across from Ciel, happy to be in both his and my father's company once more. "How long are we staying here?" I asked.

"Just two days," Ciel answered, wiping his mouth, "I figured everyone could use a little relaxation."

I looked around the room. "Where are the others? Mai-Rin, Finny, and Bard?"

"They are staying in another room here." Sebastian answered.

I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but something seemed... off. "Is..." I started to ask, but decided against it. "May I go to the baths?"

Sebastian nodded. "Three doors down is where the baths are. Mai-Rin should already be there, so you may join her."

I quickly got to my feet and left the room, wanting to see id Mai-Rin was also acting strange.

Ciel looked up at Sebastian. "Do you think she suspects anything?"

The butler stared at the door where I had just left. "She is wary, but still unsure. We must keep a close eye on her, just in case."

I stepped into the warm waters of the bath, feeling all of my worries of the Lady in the Mirror melt away.

What could they possibly be hiding, I thought to myself, and why would they keep it from me?

I spotted a silhouette at the back of the spring that resembled Mai-Rin, so I swam towards it. "Mai-Rin," I called out, "Do you know-..."

I stopped speaking and swimming when I realized that it wasn't her. "Oh, I-I'm sorry miss, I thought you were someone else."

The woman, who had the same hairstyle as Mai-Rin but in an ebony hue, waved her hand. "That's alright, darling, but there's no one else in this bath. Are you looking for someone?"

"Well, my father said that the maid was in here, so I was looking for her. I'm sorry to have disturbed you." I answered quietly, and started to swim away.

"Wait, dear! I wouldn't mind having a bit of company!" She said quickly, "These baths can be rather disconcerting alone..." The woman looked around as though waiting for someone to pop out of the shadows.

So I stood in the water near her. "My name's (F/n). What's yours?"

She smiled a white-toothed grin. "My name is Ikari. I'm here with my husband, Yoshino."

"I'm here with my father, the other servants, and Ciel." I replied.

Ikari gasped slightly. "Ciel Phantomhive? Fancy that, meeting a friend of his!"

My mood picked up a little. "You know him?"

The womans hook her head. "No, but I've heard alot about him, being the Queens Guard Dog, and the owner of the Funtom toy company!"

I grinned. "That's him! My daddy is his butler, so I get to live with him!"

"No kidding?" Ikari beamed, "What's he like?"

"He's a little grumpy at times, but I know that it's just because he's got a lot of work to do all the time." My smile faded.

"What's the matter?" Ikari asked, concerned.

"Well... We came here on a bit of a vacation, but..." I looked around the bath to make sure no one else was around. "promise you won't tell anyone?"

The woman nodded. "I promise."

I leaned closer to her and lowered my voice. "I think something's wrong. Both my father and Ciel have been acting a little strange since daddy came to get me."

"Do you think Ciel is on a case?"

I shook my head. "No, but I know that they're hiding something from me." My eyes suddenly grew heavy.

"What do you think is wrong?" Ikari pressed.

The world started to spin slightly. "I don't... know..."

Slowly, the darkness at the corner of my vision crept in and swallowed me whole.

The last thing I saw was Ikari lunging forward to grab me.
