Chapter 10
Bardroy grabbed my hand as we all started running towards the foyer. I suddenly stopped at the top of the stairs. "Wait!"
"Shh!" Finny quieted me softly, "Come on, we need to hurry!"
"But what about daddy? He said he would come to my room to get me!" I turned back towards my room, "I have to go back!"
"(F/n)!" Mai-rin called, hurrying after me.
I ran into someone and fell to the ground, disoriented as a flash of pain shot through my back. When I looked up, I felt my whole body catch fire.
The Lady in the Window.
Holding Ciel with a knife to his throat.
There was a bellow from somewhere in the mansion, causing the Lady to look behind her. Before I could stop her, she slid her knife across Ciel's throat. I watched in horror as he started to choke in his own blood. With my now white tendrils, I struck the Lady as hard as I could, sending her flying into the wall, snapping her delicate neck. I started sobbing as Ciel fell to the floor. I ran to him, kneeling down, blood seeping into my dress. Sebastian ran towards me from the hallway, but my sobs drowned out anything he was saying; they made the mansion shake.
My powers threw up an invisible wall of pure power, keeping everyone away from Ciel and I. Sebastian and the other servants pounded on the shield, but it was no use. Ciel looked up at me, his eyes pleading and the life fading out of them. "P-Please, Ciel! You're my friend! I don't want you to die!!!"
A sudden memory flashed through my mind of my mother when I kept the doctors away from her. 'I'm doing the same thing again!!' I thought, tears streaming down my face. When I snapped back to reality, the life was already gone from Ciel's eyes. The shield disappeared and not a second later, Sebastian pushed me away from Ciel.
He pushed me so hard that I slid and hit my head on the wall. Sebastian pulled Ciel's limp body into his lap as I stared in horror at him, feeling a warm, wetness trickle down my scalp. He had pushed me. My father hurt me.
I started to sob again. I was terrified.
So I closed my eyes and screamed.
I screamed until the windows shattered and the walls started crumbling.
When the roof started falling, I opened my eyes.
Only to find that the roof was not falling.
And I was back in my room.
Sebastian jumped up from the side of my bed, gripping my hand tightly. "(F/n)! Are you alright?"
I looked around the room, panicking. "Where... is Ciel?" I asked.
Sebastian, a bit confused, replied, "What do you mean-"
"Where is he?!" I said as loud as I could, which was barely above a whisper since I was hoarse from screaming.
Sebastian turned towards the door, never letting go of my hand. "Young master!"
When Ciel entered the room, a wave of relief washed over me. My breathing started to even out after a moment. "He's... alive..."
Sebastian looked at Ciel for a moment before turning back to me. "What do you mean? Did something happen?"
I shook my head, closing my eyes again. "N-No.... I-It must have been a nightmare..." I opened my eyes again and smiled at Sebastian. "It's alright, Daddy..."
Sebastian squeezed my hand slightly. "I'm so glad you're safe... I don't know what I would have done had you..."
I squeezed his hand back. "It's okay, daddy... Everyone's safe..."
Ciel cleared his throat. "I-I'm going to go fill out the rest of my paperwork for the case." He announced, quickly leaving the room.
I groaned a little as I shifted slightly on the bed.
Sebastian's brow wrinkled slightly. "Does it hurt?"
I nodded a little. "Y-Yes, but... It was for the ones that I loved, so... I don't mind..." I smiled up at him.
My father leaned down and kissed my cheek. "I'm just sorry that I made you go through so much pain..." He held my hand in both of his. "It hurt me just as much as you to see you being hurt like that..." A small tear escaped his eye. "I keep seeing you bent over crying..."
I sat up, ignoring the pain the best I could and placed my tiny hands on either side of his face. "Daddy... I'm alright... I promise..." I smiled at him as wide as I could. "I love you." I whispered and gave him a small kiss on his cheek.
Sebastian smiled and leaned his forehead against mine. "I love you too, darling."
I started to stand up from my bed, but Sebastian stopped me. "(F/n), you need to rest."
I shook my head and continued to stand up. "I-I don't want to stay in bed."
Sebastian gave me a little smile before taking my hand, and leading me to Ciel's office. I sat down in the chair across from his desk being extra careful not to lean against the back of the chair. I watched in silence as Ciel looked over papers, signing a few, and stamping others.
When the silence grew to near shouting, Ciel almost slammed the papers down on his desk. "Is there something on my face?" He snarled.
I grinned and shook my head, my (h/c) strands flopping a little with the movement. "Nope!" I started to swing my legs gently back and forth above the ground.
Ciel visibly swallowed. "C-Could you please go somewhere else?"
I giggled. "But I want to watch what you do, Ciel-sama!"
Ciel shuddered. "I-I have to go out to... Get Lizzy a present! It's her birthday tomorrow!"
I smiled, standing up. "May I please go with you?"
This time it was Sebastian who spoke. "I'm not so sure that's a good idea with your injury, (F/n)."
I crossed my arms. "But... I-I want to go with-"
"You're staying here." Ciel interrupted, walking past both me and my father. "Come Sebastian. I want to get this over with."
Sebastian bowed before turning back to me. "If you don't want to rest, please stay in the manor. If you are hungry or anything, ask one of the other servants, but do NOT let them use the oven or Bard's flamethrower."
I nodded, averting my gaze to the floor in silence.
My father's eyes softened as he stepped over to me and gave me a kiss on the head. "We will be back soon. I promise."
I nodded and did my best to smile. "Have fun!"
And with that, I was alone once more.
