Chapter Three
Ugh. I really, really dislike school. -_- But enough about me! What do you guys think of the second book so far? I haven't put in much 'Yandere-ing' yet but this chapter has a lot!
Until next time, my Lovies!! (~ ̄³ ̄)~
"Can you please stop staring at my Mistress." Ryuu all but growls at Katsu, who ignores him and keeps watching me read.
The three of us sit outside in the mid-afternoon heat. Though, it isn't the unrelenting sun that's making me sweat. The forecast called for storms later on though.
Ryuu stands behind the stone bench I sit on, Katsu to my immediate left. He has been showing up randomly ever since he escaped Leo's notice and came to visit me in my room. I stopped caring a while ago, I can't control him like I can Ryuu, he's not my servant. Ryuu, on the other hand, isn't shy about sharing his disapproval. Even now he's watching the space between both of us. I sigh and close my book. I'll never get peace and quiet with the two of them.
I get up without a word, heading back into the house. Not skipping a beat, Ryuu follows but Katsu gets to me first.
"So, what are we doing now?" He puts emphasis on the 'we' causing me to roll my eyes. I also didn't miss the smirk he shot Ryuu.
"We aren't doing anything. I'm going to the library and you are going to see the doctor. You half dead a few days ago, I don't think you should be moving around too much. You might open up your wound." I then ask Ryuu to escort him to Leo and meet me after. He's all too happy to do that. It may have been just the way the sun hit Katsu but I could have sworn his eyes dilated and his nostrils flared when Ryuu touched his shoulder. He rips out of his grasp. With a flash of bared teeth , Katsu pins Ryuu against a nearby tree.
"Don't touch me!" I gasp as Katsu pulls out a scalpel from his back pocket. Fire blazes behind Ryuu's eyes as he struggles to keep the tip away from his neck.
I don't think I just act and suddenly I'm in the middle of the two. I honestly don't know where my courage came from, though, soon after I lost it again. I stumble back from the blade but not before it cuts me across my cheek, blood quickly painting my face.
"(Y/n)!" Ryuu grabs my waist to keep me from falling. Once Ryuu calls out my name the pain disappears. I gasp. I haven't heard my real name for so long it sounds foreign. My parents never refer to me by that name, usually just saying 'you' with the occasional 'sweetheart' but never my name.
Looking at Ryuu, he hasn't seemed to notice his slip.
"How dare you hurt (Y/n)!" He catches Katsu by his collar and switches their positions so that Katsu is now against the tree.
"Do you normally hurt those who help you? I knew she should never have let you stay here."
I'm about to intervene again when Ryuu suddenly drops Katsu and takes my hand. He walks me back into the house, locking the door behind us. I glance back at Katsu still out in the yard. He stands abnormally still. The soft wind slowly shifts his hair away from his face. I gasp when his eyes meet mine through the glass door. They're completely fogged over, his green pupils like little beacons of light under a white sheet. He watches as the blood on my cheek drips down my neck, licking his lips. I blink and he's suddenly gone.
"/n). (Y/n)!" Ryuu yells in my ear bringing my attention back to him.
"I told you he was nothing but trouble. Should I send out the guard to walk him off the property?"
"What?"
"Did you see what he just did to you? He pulled out a knife and cut you!" Ryuu gently takes my face in his hands to examine my cut.
"He didn't mean too. He was just frightened. You need to calm down!"
"Calm down? Why are you defending him? You just met him a few days ago, half dead I remind you!" I have never heard Ryuu yell this loud before and never at me. He was always composed. I would be lying if I didn't find the new emotional side of him sexy.
What am I thinking! We're fighting! Well, kind of. But still, this is no time to be thinking about that.
"Fine, whatever. I'll ask the guard to take him to the city but remember: I didn't do this because of you. I'm doing this because of Katsu." Ryuu flinches back like I've struck him. I stalk past him, heading towards the guard's station at the head of the house. Ryuu doesn't stop though I feel his eyes on me until I finally turn the corner then I release the breath I didn't know I was holding.
I reach the guard station quickly. We have four guards but two of them are currently out on vacation so it's Asterid and Goro who greet me. They're talking pretty loud so I can hear theri comversation before I get there.
"Stop! You can't fit that whole thing in your mouth! It's so big, you're going to choke!" The voice sounds like Arterid's. I round the corner expecting to witness something tramatizing.
"Good afternoon, my lady!" She yells, smiling warmly at me from behind the plexiglass at the same time, Goro is shoving an entire donut in his mouth. His pales and he almosts choke when he sees me.
"'ood afta'noon, um...my lady." Chucks of icing spray out of his mouth. Ew.
He swallows his donut and wipes his face with his sleeve. "What brings you over here today, my lady?" Goro gives me a lopsided smile. If it weren't for his disgusting eating habits I would find him attractive. He has a lean body and sharp features. I think I would have fallen for him a few years ago but he got engaged to Asterid.
They notice my cut, which is still open and bleeding, at the same time. "Are you ok?" They say at once. I shake my head 'yes', stopping myself from rolling my eyes at them.
"You may have seen a boy about my age walking around here the past few days?" The look at each other with matching expressions of embarrassment then agree hesitantly. I sigh and take my phone out. Katsu had snatched it from my hand today to take a selfie of us. Katsu is looking into the camera with a Cheshire cat grin with his arm around my shoulders, foot outstretched to trip Ryuu. He was carrying out breakfast back into the house so he didn't see his foot before it was too late. But he tipped the tray so that the half eaten toast and hot tea spilled on top of Katsu. I hate to admit it but I laughed when he yelled in pain as the tea fell on his lap.
"Here. This is what he looks like.
If you see him at all please alert me. Only me, ok? Don't tell Ryuu to tell me." I don't break eye contact until they nod their heads. I just had my first argument with Ryuu and I want it to be our last so if him not knowing something
"But what if we can't find you?" Asterid said, finally becoming serious.
"Then tell him to wait in your office until you can or just ignore him."
"Can we ask why?" They lean toward me, knocking into each other's heads. They way they act sometimes makes me question how they got this job.
I was about to explain the situation when I stopped myself. I didn't want to talk concerning Katsu with them. I felt strangely defensive about him. More than I should have at the moment so my answer was simple.
"No."
-----------------------------------------------
"Goodnight, Mistress."
"G'night," I say, rolling away from Ryuu. After I came back from the guard's station he was back to his normal conservative self. I missed hearing my name on his lips already. When I told him what happened with the guards, twisting the truth a little here and there, he relaxed again.
Though I'm not very confident in Asterid nad Goro's ability to watch out for Katsu let alone tell me about any sightings, Ryuu trusts their judgment enough to allow my bedroom windows to be unlocked and open. Of course, I am on the second floor so if Katsu did attempt to climb in through my windows it would be difficult.
I can hear a strong storm forming outside. I hope Katsu isn't in any danger. I can only imagine the worst as the wind and rain beat against the house. A puddle gradually grows underneath my window on the marble floor. Lightning strikes a tree a couple miles in front of me. It quickly catches fire and just as suddenly is put out by the buckets of rain following it. I count the seconds before the thunder roars above me. It's so loud I jump, nearly falling out of bed.
Clutching my heart I breathe out controlled breaths, trying to slow the adrenaline flowing through me. Eventually, I calm down enough to begin to fall asleep again. Glancing out my window one last time lighting, closer, this time, lights up the forest surrounding the house. Thunder cracks through the humid air but it doesn't scare me as much. No. My heart jumps for a completely different reason.
The bolt of electricity reflects off of a set of green eyes. They seem to shift and change as the light flickers out, revealing sinister desires covered by a mistly lens. I may be over reacting by running out of my room and racing down to Ryuu room in te servant quarters, except that those eyes were staring at my inches away from my window screen.
I frantically run down the grand staircase and past the kitchens to Ryuu's room. Why does it have to be so far away? I feel like I'm being chased but I can't hear anything behind me and I don't want to turn around to check. I think I hear the sound of my window's screen popping out of place, though, the blood rushing in my ears makes it hard to hear anything.
Ryuu's door is visible now so I stretch my hand out. I open and close it in the same movement. I close my eyes and let out a relieved breath, leaning against the solid oak wood door.
"Mistress?"
I freeze, quickly remembering who's room this is. I look up to see Ryuu in the middle of changing. He holds his button down shirt in one hand, the other about to take his pants off. The blush on my face feels like a bad sunburn, it physically hurts. I only saw Ryuu without a shirt on once. It was when I was in twelve and I had the about the same reaction I'm having now. I'm having trouble breathing for a completely different reason now.
I put my hand on my face and wait until he says it's ok to look. There's a small blush on his cheeks but other than that he wears a slightly cocky grin on his face. He must have caught me peeking through my fingers. Whoops.
"Mistress, is something wrong? You look a little pale." He walks over in pajama pants and an old shirt. He wraps his arm around me, pulling me to sit on the bed with him. I don't want to tell him that I saw Katsu on the property because he'll tell the guards and my lie will be found out. I just shake my head and curl up with him like old times.
Since my parents weren't the best at being parents whenever I had a nightmare I would go to Ryuu and sleep in his room with him. He would comfort me by taking me into the kitchens for late night hot chocolate then I would tell him my dream. I loved those times, he would always make me feel better afterward. Though, right now it doesn't feel as innocent. Ryuu tucks his face in the crook of my neck and inhales my scent. I should probably question the strange behavior yet I find my eyes falling shut. I grow limp in his arms as he lays us down, turning out the bedside light so that the only thing illuminating our faces is the random lighting outside. It feels so perfect in his arms like this. I'm quickly falling asleep like this, though, not quick enough to not feel him lightly kiss my lips.
I think, I liked his kiss better.
