Chapter 2
Me (skating down an alleyway, drinking a Carprisun):Yeah, I'm what the kids' call 'an emotional mess that gets too attached to fictional characters'. (⌐■_■)
Ryuu lays the boy down on the parlor's couch, his blood staining the white upholstery red. Now that I can see properly the hole in his stomach is really obvious.
"I think he's been shot!" When Ryuu does nothing I smack him on the shoulder.
"What are you doing? Go get the doctor!" yes, we have an on hand doctor living with us. Every since I cracked my skull on the driveway when I was seven and the closest hospital was six miles away my mother installed an infirmary in the south wing of the house. We have one doctor, a young guy, straight out of college and just with enough luck to land a job at my family's estate. I believe his name is Leo, though, I can't be sure.
"R-right." Ryuu runs off to get 'Leo'. It odd seeing him so freaked out. Usually, Ryuu laughs off tough situations, though, not this time. The last time I saw him this jumpy was when he found me bleeding on the driveway.
I take my shirt off and press it on the bullet wound. Blood still flows freely causing my wrinkled, white dress shirt to quickly become heavy with it. The boy hasn't moved since we brought him inside. He's deathly pale.
What if he dies in the house? He'll probably haunt me forever because I didn't save him.
The sound of two people running made me glance up from the couch. 'Leo' takes one look at the boy and his face becomes one of a professional. He pushes me aside, immediately trying to stop the bleeding. He curses softly, taking out his lighter. But before he does anything he turns to Ryuu.
"Get the Mistress out of here. I don't think she would like to see this." I feel a blanket cover me then arms wrapping around my waist, pulling me out the room.
"What's he going to do to him?" I ask, worry lacing my voice. Ryuu ignores my question and keeps walking me back to my room. I tug on my hand forcing him to stop. His blue eyes hold a wildness in them, his white hair fluffed up like a scared cat's tail.
"Doctor Leo has the situation under control. He's just closing the wound so he won't bleed out. Don't worry."
Oh, so the doctor's name really is Leo.
Ryuu gives my hand a reassuring squeeze then continues down the hall. The same hall we're running down not ten minutes ago. It felt like it was hours ago that I was smiling and laughing. I also have a feeling that I won't do any of that for a while now. The sound of muffled screams coming from the parlor make me sure of that.
---------------------------------------------
I wake up to the afternoon sun blinding me. Groaning in annoyance, I roll over to get a few more hours of rest. Since my parents are away I don't have to be with my homeschool teacher until whenever I pleased. The woman teaching me would be too shy to call me out anyway. She'll just have to wait patiently again cause I'm not planning on moving anytime soon.
The sound of someone quietly knocking on my door does nothing to wake me up. My door opens slightly then the soft footsteps of someone's bare feet makes their way over to my limp form. I open my eyes just a bit to see who it is. At first, I don't recognize the boy in front of me. He's wearing a plaid button up, that's a bit baggy on him, and tight fitting denim jeans. His skin looked ashen. I sit up in surprise.
"What are you doing in here?" My voice comes out a little garbled because I'm still half asleep, however, the authoritative tone is still distinct. His bottle green eyes widen and steps away in alarm. It takes a few more seconds for me to recognize him as the boy from last night. He opens his mouth but I cut him off.
"Who are you? What happened to you?" I get out of bed, forgetting that I just wore one of Ryuu's old shirts as a nightgown. I grip the boy's shoulders and lay him down on te bed.
"You shouldn't be walking around in your condition! You got shot, you know!" He doesn't say anything just stares up at me. I click my tongue and put my hand on his forehead. He's burning up. Great, just great. I have a sick gunshot victim in my house. When will my parents be back? Six months?
"Do you know who shot you?" I try to grab the pager by my bed to call up Ryuu and doctor Leo when a hand stops me. I turn to glare at the boy but his haunting eyes mesmerize me. It looks as if he's about to cry. I suddenly want to hug him, so I do. I feel him shake underneath me. Glancing at his red face I can tell he's holding back a sob.
"I-I can't remember...anything." He clutches my back tightly, pulling me toward him even more so that I'm basically sitting in his lap.
"Ssh, it's ok. You're probably still in shock. I'm sure you'll start to remember soon."
"Mistress, I have your break-" Ryuu stops immediately when he sees me. I hear his breathing halt as he looks me up and down, his cheeks revealing his blush. Then he notices who I'm hugging. An odd expression crosses his face before he covers it back up with a forced smile. I attempt to pull away from the boy but he holds me by the front of my shirt, a wicked smirk on his face as he watches Ryuu.
"Am I interrupting something?" Ryuu says with an edge to his voice. Though, I couldn't imagine why.
"No," I say as the boy says,"Yes."
"No, you're not." I pry his hands off me and take my breakfast try from Ryuu, placing it on the coffee table in front of my fireplace. I swing my head back toward the two to find their staring at each other with matching expressions of annoyance. I clear my throat but neither of them notices. Rolling my eyes I ask,
"So, do you remember anything? Your name, maybe?" The boy shakes his head in dismay then abruptly brings stops and whispers.
"Katsu."
"What?" I lean in toward him to hear better when he grabs the back of my head.
"My name's Katsu, babe." He says before he brings his lips to mine.
--------------------------------------
"Are you sure you should allow him to stay here while your parents are away?" Ryuu asks me for the tenth time in the last thirty minutes.
"He's injured, Ryuu. And he doesn't remember anything so we'll just let him stay until he has another place to stay, ok?"
Ryuu huffs and says, "Remembers nothing but his name. Also, you are the only one who is letting him stay. If I had any say in this you know I would kick him to the curb in a second."
"But you don't so he stays." I stick my tongue out at him brooding in the corner. We are currently in my room. I'm finishing my book, or would be if Ryuu would stop interrupting me every ten seconds. After the boy, Katsu, kissed me Ryuu stepped in and called the doctor up. Katsu's new room will be the infirmary until he can function without a bunch of painkillers in his system.
He may be a floor below but he may as well be right next to me because my thoughts haven't wondered far from that kiss. His lips were so soft with a hint of chappedness that created the perfect friction. It was only a few seconds, except it felt much longer. I loved his confidence. The fact that he didn't care that Ryuu was in the room with us was amazing. My parents, we're never really daring, having gained their wealth from pure inheritance and even Ryuu always seemed to hold himself back around me. Katsu was a refreshing new person.
I must have been smiling to myself because I hear Ryuu scoff at me. I blush having been caught thinking of Katsu again. Ryuu pushes off the wall to walk over to me. He sits down on the couch with me, noticeably closer than usual. I try to ignore him but I keep feeling the heat of his gaze on my face, causing me to blush even harder. My fingers start to twitch when I feel his breath brush my cheek. He leans so his mouth in level with my ear. Electricity burns through the air around us and time seems to stop. His voice is husky as he breathes in my scent. I involuntarily close my eyes as he brings his hand up to my face
"You are such a dork." Ryuu pokes my inflamed cheeks with his finger. My eyes fly open in surprise. I swing my fist to smack him but he dodges, chuckling.
"I hate you so much!" I giggle, running after him.
