"I want to know more," Jackson says, as he climbed onto the bed. "Why do I have to relax?"
"You said your head was hurting," Mark says, "The doctor said if you got headaches that you needed to rest."
Jackson pouts. "But it's not that bad,"
Mark looks at him, sighing heavily. "Jackson, I'm trying really hard to be calm right now. It is bad. Please just cooperate."
Jackson huffs, being persistent. "My headache isn't even that bad. I'm okay."
"Jackson, you don't remember who anyone is! You're not okay!" Mark says, gripping the blanket he was holding in his arms. "You didn't even remember who you are!"
Jackson stays silent, looking at him with wide eyes.
"I'm sorry..." Mark says, "Please just get some rest. When you wake up, I'll tell you about more things." He drapes the blanket over Jackson, making sure his bandages were secure.
Jackson nods, looking up at him with big eyes. Mark slowly walks out of the room, and back into the living room.
Kunpimook had his head in his hands, light sobs coming from his mouth. Mark rushes over to him, resting a hand on his back.
"Bam," he says, "What's wrong?"
Kunpimook looks up at him, his eyes lined with tears. "M-My best friend doesn't even remember me," he says, stammering. "This is the worst day of my life! I don't even have a soulmate and now my best friend doesn't remember me..."
Mark sighs, wrapping his arms around the younger and letting him cry into his chest. He rubs circles on his back, trying to calm him down.
"It'll be okay..." Mark says, biting his lip. "Once he wakes up, you can tell him all about you..."
"It just won't be the same," Kunpimook says, "He doesn't even seem like Jackson anymore. Just some robot that you brought home."
Mark blinks hard, the younger's statement really hitting home. He was right, it didn't even feel like that was Jackson. He seemed like a different person.
"I'm sorry," Mark says, hugging him tightly. "You're completely right... but there's not really anything we can do about it. We just have to help him until he's somewhat back to normal..."
The younger sniffles, nodding. "It still hurts though... how are you not crying? Your soulmate forgot you..."
Mark takes a deep breath. "I'm just trying to stay calm... Of course I'm sad about it... but I have a job to do and things to take care of." Kunpimook nods, wiping his eyes.
Jackson sat in the bedroom, listening to it all. He stared up at the white ceiling as he did so, biting his lip. He wished he wasn't acting like a different person, but he didn't know who his old self was; what his old self was like. He just couldn't quite remember it. His head started throbbing when he tried to think hard and remember something, but it didn't work. He just couldn't seem to remember what the past was like.
