Chapter 58
While everyone was dealing with the fact that Izuku left UA in April, in a discreet area in a cavern in the cave; Eva stayed in a large circular room divided into two; one side held all the equipment used to dissect Eva; poking around her body, including the table. The other side was more for a living area, with a couple of large flat stones, a tall circular wooden bathtub for washing up, a mirror, and a couple of other things. Eva was strapped to a 30-degree slanted operating table. Toya, Skeptic, and Spinner were in the room on standby. The moment she opened her eyes she saw Skeptic, Toya, and Spinner staring down at her.
"Look the sleepy-headed finally decided to join us," said Toya leaning closer. "Rise and shine."
"I'll go get the Shigaraki," said Spinner exiting the room.
"Where am I?" asked Eva.
"You aren't getting out even if we tell you," said Skeptic; he became irritated his laptop wasn't working as well as before.
"How long have I been out?" asked Eva.
"About two days," answered Skeptic as Eva went to sit up; she didn't get very far; her arms and legs were chained to the table. Eva laid back down. "You are stuck with us." She looked to see her wings had been strapped and locked away in waterproof, quirk-proof material.
"Consider yourself lucky we are letting you live so far," said Toya. "Villain or hero; you are nasty work to deal with."
"I have a couple of questions for you." They looked to see Shigaraki at the door; Eva saw iron horseshoes in the doorway.
"You truly went to the extent to keep me here," said Eva. Spinner entered the room with Shigaraki.
"My question is why can't your power be transferred to others?" asked Shigaraki ignoring her statement.
"It's a quirk the same as the others," answered Eva.
"Not that power," said Shigaraki as Toya put a hand on Eva's stomach; he pulled the gown open in that section and then pulled apart a cut, revealing the gold and white glow. "That power; why can't I read or take it." Eva remained quiet; she saw two ghosts standing on the other side of the doorway.
"I'm guessing two people died from it," said Eva.
"What makes you think that?" asked Spinner in alarm.
Shigaraki stood beside the table staring down at her. "Even just a little bit was enough to make someone go blind, how come?"
"Quirk or quirkless; the human body won't be able to handle my life force," answered Eva. "Putting it into someone's body sends it into overdrive in other words, short-circuiting it."
"How come you were able to transfer energy to the heroes on the battlefield?" asked Shigaraki.
"Magic works in mysterious ways," answered Eva. "Why did you name it the Paranormal?"
"Fitting for a bunch of villains," said Shigaraki. "Wouldn't you think?"
"But all of you are human," said Eva. "And alive." All of them, but Toya left the room; he was circling the table, Eva's eyes followed him as he went around four times.
"I know what you are thinking," began Toya straddling her around the hips. "How can that little masterpiece's older brother be so mad? How can he be so ruthless?" He started laughing. "It shouldn't be hard for a smart insect like you to figure out." He put his hands on Eva's abdomen; pulling it apart to see her life force. "I'm not kind like Shoto and have no desire to be." He lit up one finger, and stuck it in the gap; Eva's toes stretched out trying to not react loudly to the pain; the blue flames created a gap between the magical energy. "Don't even think about trying to kill us."
"I won't," Eva assured. Kill them and Eva would be trapped there forever. "Toya, right?" He removed his hand, focusing his eyes on her face.
"This isn't the same thing I was wearing before I passed out," said Eva. "Who--"
"We had Skeptic's puppets change you," said Toya cutting her off.
"As for the suit?" asked Eva.
"Too torn, so I burned it," answered Toya.
"What about my flute?" asked Eva.
Toya put his hands on her shoulders. "You got a lot of questions."
"So what happened to my flute?" asked Eva.
Toya leaned closer to her. "Nothing has happened to it." He began to undo the restraints on her arm. "It will remain out of your reach."

Back in 1-A dorms, Bakugo was sitting in Eva's hammock, staring at a picture of the two of them from middle school. Eva had requested that he be her date to the school dance; they were dressed up a bit. He had been calling it stupid to his buddies when Eva came up to him with the flyer, he said yes to it right away. He looked at her desk to see another picture of the two, a recent one of when the cherry blossoms bloomed, they were on a break during the work study, she had her cheek pressed up against his. In her closet, Bakugo had found a birthday gift that Eva getting ready to give to him. It was a laundry basket she had made, he had complained his current one was falling apart just earlier in the month. Inside was a wooden tooth brush, a new wash cloth and a jar of this powder. It was to mix in drinks to help replenish his electrolytes. He was big on personal hygiene, of course, she knew that.
"Go away," ordered Katsuki as soon as the door opened. "Get the hell out of here, pink cheeks."
"Bakugo," said Urakaka. "It's time for training." He didn't move. "You need to have hope."
"They never did before, so how can I be sure they will this time?" said Katsuki, his voice cracked a bit trying to not cry."This whole time she never mentioned the truth about the hero society; cause she didn't want me or Deku to lose faith, she didn't want either of us to turn away from our dreams...why?"
"I'm not sure how to answer that," admitted Urakaka. "What I do know is how she looks at you, like how the rest of the world looked at All Might." He looked at her. "Even if All Might didn't inspire hope in Yuki, you did."
Bakugo looked back at the photo. "She knows I hate dishonesty."
"She wasn't trying to lie," said Urakaka. "She probably told as she saw, those heroes she saw them as villains." Bakugo turned over in the hammock. "When Eva answered questions, she probably made sure to stay blunt about it, not let out too much detail." Bakugo thought about it, Eva did it each time she got abducted; she was telling the truth which is unpleasaent, she just never specified what all happened. Not getting her eyeball removed, not being put on a eletrocution chair. Not being skinned. Just 'it was awful. Lots of pain. Feeling sleepy. Bakugo kicked himself for not trying to get her talk more about it.
"I need Eva to survive whatever they throw at her," said Katsuki. "Even if it gets in bed with them for the sake of survival."
"Yuki, wouldn't do that," said Urakaka. "She gets flustered easily watching make-out scenes in films."
Katsuki looked at Urakaka. "Fairies are very sexual. Eva is of an age where she is allowed to attend a certain spring festival back home." He sat up. "She was supposed to attend one in fall, but she passed it up." Urakaka walked over to him, she took the picture from his hands. "I don't care if she is no longer 'pure' when she comes back, I just need her to be alive."
"Yuki has a way of bonding with anyone," said Urakaka. "She attracts them unintentionally. Are you worried about what might conspire where she is being kept?"
"I won't be shocked if she manages to friend them," said Katsuki. "Eva is kind, she knows how to listen and understand people, make them feel acknowledged. I know I am aggressive it drives people away."
Urakaa laughed. "Yuki says to her, it's comfort. She'd be weirded out if you weren't loud and aggressive." Katsuki smiled a little.
***Back in the cave.
Everyone was out of the room; allowing Eva to get up, as long as the iron horseshoes remained up she couldn't leave. They had been digging around in her body for most of the day; sticking all kinds of needles in her; trying to figure out the 'science' behind her life force. She was pacing back and forth at the doorway communicating with the ghosts across the entrance. Both ghosts were men; a short man with long arms named Yota and a tall man with a turtle head named Taiko. There were a couple of other ghosts, but some of them had been there way before quirks started.
'Can't you just move the horseshoes?' asked Taiko.
'Would if I could,' responded Eva.
'Like with your mind,' said Yota. 'You are a fairy, aren't you?'
'Yes,' answered Eva. 'If I could; I'm pretty sure the iron would intervene with the magic, in case you haven't noticed the iron is working against you too.' Both the ghosts stared up at the doorway. 'Quirks have really made people just stupid about the supernatural. You get meta powers and suddenly you think you are just invincible to everything else in the world.'
'Rude,' said Yota and Takio.
"Quite pacing around you, insect," ordered Spinner walking down the hallway. "Your footsteps are giving me a headache."
"If you'd just freed my wings," said Eva; she glanced back to see them still held captive.
"Like I'd fall for that," said Spinner, crossing his arms. "You stupid, false wannabe hero." Eva looked to see Takio and Yota both looking at Spinner angrily.
"You oughta watch your back, Spinner," advised Eva. "Kill one too many people; sooner or later, a spirit is going to be vengeful."
"Like I'd fall for that too," said Spinner, standing at the doorway. "You heroes underestimating villains will always be your downfall in this broken hero society."
"Villain or hero, you humans never change," said Eva.
'Just sucker punch this guy,' said Yota.
'I can't,' denied Eva, looking at the horseshoes. 'But you two can...both of you start with a right hook.'
'What if he tries to hurt us?' asked Takio
'You are ghosts!' said Eva. 'You are intangible!' Eva heard footsteps approaching; she went to stick her head out the doorway, just for it to get stopped by an invisible force.
Spinner looked at her. 'The Creature Rejection Clan sure wouldn't like her.' Eva repeatedly began to hit her head against the invisible fall; each time caused a ripple effect, and blood started to spill out of her head. He stared at her blood; it was so different, yet deadly. Toya and Skeptic's scent was approaching. "Cut it out." Spinner pushed her further into the room. "You are getting blood everywhere."
***
Night came around; Eva sat on a mattress that was a little smaller than her wingspan with iron horseshoes surrounding it. She was tending to the injuries on her left leg from trying to fight being put into the invisible cage. She kept glancing at her hand with the missing finger.
"Are you going to go to sleep anytime soon?" Shigaraki asked; Eva looked back at where two futons, Shigaraki and Toya were in. They got placed in the room with her at night to make sure she didn't try anything. He was looking at her. "I sleep better with the lights out." Her body glow was keeping him awake, Eva turned back to her injuries. "I said I sleep better with the lights out."
"Me going to sleep won't change anything," said Eva. "Just turn around or pull the blanket over your head." She looked back at the sound of movement; Shigaraki had gotten to his feet. "Are you really planning on destroying everything?"
"What? You want to make some sort of deal with me?" asked Shigaraki walking over. "I was told to never make deals with your kind, it always ends badly for us."
"Wise advice," said Eva as a blanket was put over her; extinguishing most of the light from the room.
"Tell me," began Shigaraki sitting beside her. "What do you love about this world?"
"How do you know about my abductions and past?" asked Eva looking at him. They both remained silent.
"What was your goal as a hero?" asked Shigaraki.
"I wanted to help people who gave up on heroes," answered Eva, he looked at her. "I know I did a long time ago. The people you mentioned, the ones heroes pretend they can't see who they can't protect." Shigaraki looked away, and so did Eva. "When my people are in trouble, the heroes don't seem to go the lengths to protect and save. By becoming a hero myself, I would be able to do what they tend to neglect."
"Your motives are genuine," Shigaraki admitted. "You want to protect the people you love."
"I also planned on putting my hero work in the more supernatural areas," answered Eva with a small smile. Shigaraki gave her a strange look. "Help people who still mess with magic, and things go a little haywire. Definitely look after kids."
"What do you mean by haywire?" asked Shigaraki.
Eva looked at him. "You know, get trapped in books, accidentally summon a demon, those sorts of things." Eva looked away. "It's been a long time since things like that happened with quirks being around. Though you never know, and it can be good to have someone with knowledge of that stuff around." Shigaraki smiled a little.
***
Morning came around; Eva was now sitting in a large tub of water, the tub went up to her neck when she sat down; Eva scrubbed away at her body as Skeptic sat at the doorway with his back to her.
"Why did they place you at the doorway?" asked Eva.
"We all have jobs to take with you," said Skeptic. "This is the one I was given."
"But aren't I interrupting the service on your laptop?" asked Eva.
"It's annoying," said Skeptic as he typed away. "Being near you makes my stuff go haywire. How do you fairies gather information without technology?"
"Simple," answered Eva. "Most fairies can turn invisible, read minds, talk to animals and other stuff."
Skeptic sat up straighter. "What if there is something you don't know anything about? Like...demons?" Eva looked back at him. "I'm being serious."
"Supernatural knowledge," answered Eva. "Fairies are much older and wiser than humans. You know I don't entirely hate the idea of free usage of Quirks; saying it's a basic human right."
"That's because it is," said Skeptic. "The same way that your magic is your right." He sat up more. "Sink lower in that tub." Eva did as she was told as Skeptic faced her. "Why is a wannabe hero like yourself...fine with Quirk liberation?"
"Long ago, humans used to practice magic," answered Eva. "They used to have these protection rituals to prevent inviting in evil spirits and energy, with Quirks, you don't have to think twice about inviting that type of evil in your life."
"All For One is a Symbol of Evil," said Skeptic. "What could be worse than that?"
"I've met real demons during the short time I've been alive," answered Eva. "There is a side of hell that even its inhabitants fear and despise."
"Just how horrible is one of the demons down there?" asked Skeptic.
"There was this yellow-eyed demon," answered Eva. "Centuries ago, he went around pinning people to the ceiling; slashing open their stomachs without touching them, causing them to burst into flames." Skeptic's eyes widened. "No one knew about his former life; but while in hell; he was chosen by Lucifer to become one of the Princes of Hell; he died about 1,000 years ago; Great Granpapa said yellow eyes were so powerful that his presence alone could cause thunderstorms; and intense windstorms."
"Have you been to hell?" asked Skeptic.
"A couple of times on a school field trip," answered Eva. "About twice a year between ages 3-12, after that trips to hell are done by one's self."
"What kind of school trip lands you in hell?" asked Skeptic in alarm.
"Otherworld school," answered Eva. "Though being of fae. I've gone down to the Underworld multiple times due to one of my teachers."
"The Underworld and hell?" asked Skeptic.
"Same thing," answered Eva. "It's a large endless place." Skeptic crossed his arms.
"So who was your teacher?" asked Skeptic.
"Being an earthy garden fairy, Lady Persephoone," answered Eva this caused Skeptic to be alarmed. "That being said, I know a couple of backways into hell." Skeptic was filled with curiosity. "I will only tell you if you do something for me."
Skeptic frowned. "I am not stupid to strike a deal with you."
"I am not asking for much," said Eva; that still was not enough to get Skeptic to budge for a deal, none the less Eva still told him stories about hell.
****
After getting washed up and given some milk and honey, Eva was back on the operating table; All For One and Shigaraki stood around the table, and she kept her eyes focused on the ceiling. Her hospital gown was pulled down, making it as if it was strapless.
"Master," said Tomura. "What happens if the light around her body goes away?"
"It simply means she died," answered All For One as he put a knife by the top of her sternum. "When we can extinguish once we no longer have use for this particular paranormal." He dragged the knife down to the top of the hospital gown; Shigaraki pulled the skin apart; being careful not to put down all five fingers.
"What do you call your life force?" asked Shigaraki.
"Living magic with some skin over it," answered All For One. Shigaraki placed his whole hand inside the hole; he stretched it out but nothing decayed. "Magic energy is something intangible, like all energy it can't be created or destroyed, only transformed."
***
The captors besides All For One were quick to learn that Eva wasn't all that good on her feet, and tripped a couple of times throughout the day. The first person she knocked down due to tripping was Spinner. She used a pebble to play catch with herself when she tripped.
"Ah!" Spinner cried out as Eva fell into him; they both landed in the tub.
"Apologies," mumbled Eva.
"You damn, insect," growled Spinner. "Look what you've done." Eva sat up; she saw that his hand was bleeding.
"Let me," said Eva taking his hand, and he ripped it back.
"All For One won't like it if you are not on the table when he gets in the room," said Spinner getting out of the tub. "Get moving." Eva grabbed his wrist pulling him back. "Hey!" He looked back to see her wiping the blood away with her hospital gown; she put two fingers over the injury for a few seconds; Spinner gasped to see the injury had completely disappeared. "Why did you—"
"I'm the reason you got hurt," answered Eva getting out of the tub.
****
Eva was once again conversing with Yota and Takio in her alone time.
'Okay, so Spinner, Toya, and Skeptic all don't have that strong of wills,' said Eva. 'Which means they will be easier for you to possess. I suggest Spinner and Skeptic.'
'Possession?' asked Yota. 'But I don't have that quirk, neither of us has a quirk like that.'
Eva clapped her hands together in irritation. 'Are you telling me neither of you knows how to possess someone?' They both blinked. "Ghosts have gotten really pathetic these days."
"Just who are you talking to?"
Eva looked to see Spinner standing at the doorway. "Yota and Takio."
"Who?" asked Spinner.
"The two humans you fed my magic to," answered Eva. "One short, and one with a turtle face." Spinner blinked in alarm. "You are here earlier than yesterday."
"Operations are continuing sooner," said Spinner.
"It hasn't been 30 minutes," said Eva.
"Continuing sooner," repeated Spinner.
'Takio and Yota, find the oldest ghost here,' instructed Eva. 'Have them teach you how to possess someone and then come to me.'
'Wait we don't need quirks to that?' asked Takio.
Eva shook her head. 'Ghosts used to be able to get in less than one lesson; I hope it'll only take you both three.' Eva could sense All For One's presence approaching the room with Toya.
"I am stepping out to go to a store to get essentials," said Spinner. "Been ravaged since the prison break, I doubt heroes will turn up there again."
"Oh," breathed Eva looking at him. "Could you get some books?"
"What do you want books for?" asked Spinner.
"To have things to be preoccupied with," answered Eva.
Spinner stared at her. "Kind of strange a hero in training is asking me to steal something for her." He then sighed. "Is there a particular genre you like?"
"Fantasy, romance, action," answered Eva. "I like reading the fantasy ones cause I like to see how far off they are from the actual creature." This got Spinner to smile.
"If I find a manual of League of Legends I'm bringing it to you," said Spinner. "A species description at least."
"Some things are accurate, so are far off," said Eva. "I can tell that Alistar is based on Asterion and Cassiopeia, sort of Medusa."
"What do you mean by sort of?" asked Spinner more intrigued.
"I'll explain more if you find the character and species description."

Only after two days of being awake, a routine had been set in place.
1. Bathe in the morning
2. Milk and Honey
3. Be dissected
4. 30 minutes of alone time
5. Be dissected

It was another late night, Eva was staring in the mirror wide awake as everyone slept. She was thinking hard about everything including her past, including her trips to hell when she was younger.
***Eva's memory***
Eva was six years old; she was in the Otherworld having a tea party with a bunch of fairies her age and a beautiful woman. She was dressed in dark robes and holding twin torches. She had black hair and green eyes
"Now, who would like to show me their improvement?" asked the woman holding up a mirror. "How about you Ami?"
"Yes, ma'am," nodded Ami; she was a fairy dressed in pink, and she had silvery hair and blue eyes. The girl picked up the mirror. "Show me...Niagara Falls." The image on the mirror changed showing a blurry waterfall.
"You need to practice more deary," said the woman.
"Yes, Lady Hecate," said Ami.
"Evalina, your turn," said Hecate turning to her. "Show us what you desire to see." Eva picked up her mirror, and tapped the mirror; the image rippled into All Might in the middle of Hosu City fighting a villain. "A hero from the mortal world?"
"I know it seems strange," said Eva as the image disappeared. "I was just feeling curious about the number one hero. I hear whispers of his name a lot."
"You keep up on it, and you'll be able to use a window's reflection to communicate with others," said Hecate raising a teacup. "Keep up the work, Evalina."
"Yes, ma'am," nodded Eva.
**Eva's memory transformed into a dream**
Eva was sitting at the tea party table by herself; the mirror was in front of her; along with a couple of other things.
"You've disappointed me, Evalina," said a familiar voice. Hecate. "You were one of my brightest students and you barely use anything that I taught you. That any of us has taught you." The woman put her hand on Eva's head. "Threw everything you learned just so you can blend in with the rest of human society. You need to wake up and realize you will never ever be one of them no matter how hard you try." Hecate sat next to her. "There's a war coming, and you need to be at your best for it, so stop putting everything that's been taught to you to waste."
"Yes, ma'am," said Eva. Hecate snapped her fingers; suddenly, everything around her lit up in flames.
***End of dream***
Eva jolted awake, sat straight up, and panting.
"Bad dream?"
Eva looked over to see Toya looking at her; he was perched up on his elbow as Shigaraki slept next to him.
"No," answered Eva laying back down.
***Back At UA***
A new day was beginning, Tokoyami was in his room getting ready for the day, the lights in his room started to flicker as he was fixing his tie when he looked up to see Eva looking at him in the mirror.
"UNHOLY REFLECTION!" cried Tokoyami making Dark Shadow come out; the lights in his room went out. He saw that Eva had fresh cuts along her cheek and lip.
"Oh, relax Tokoyami," said Eva. "I don't have a lot of time so listen closely."
"Y-Y-Yuki?" stuttered Tokoyami. "Where are you? How are you---"
"Member of the paranormal, remember?" said Eva, he nodded. "I need you to go into my room, on my bookshelf; grab the green book written in a different language; flip to page nineteen; write down the 6th line. I'll be visiting you tonight in your dream, so be prepared with the message."
"But--but why are you coming to me?" asked Tokoyami.
"You've stared into the abyss," answered Eva. "You are a creature of the dark." She looked at Dark Shadow. "You too, Dark Shadow." She looked back at Tokoyami. "Remember, green book with unfamiliar lettering, page nineteen and 6th line." She then disappeared, and Tokoyami shakily walked out of the room, 1-A had taken on a serious matter since Deku's disappearance and Eva's abduction. Once Tokoyami reached the bottom of the elevator; he immediately went to the girl's side and up to the 5th floor to Eva's room. Tokoyami stood outside hesitantly. Bakugo had been very keen on making sure nobody entered the place.
'This is a request made by, I think, Yuki,' said Tokoyami. 'I need to trust it was her and not some other creature of the dark.' Tokoyami opened the door; and passed out on the bed was Bakugo, still fast asleep; holding a stuffed raccoon animal. It was clear he had been crying due to the wastebasket full of tissues. "Dark Shadow."
"Aye," said Dark Shadow; he entered the room, going directly to the bookshelf. "Green book, green book, green---found it Fumikage." He went back to Fumikage; skimming through the pages. "This language...is ancient, Fumikage." Tokoyami closed the door and then walked away from the room.
"All we have to do is copy down a message and deliver it to her tonight," said Tokoyami taking the book. All day he had spent trying to figure out what number 6 was, but nothing in the school, Iida's library, or even his had anything on it.
"Whatever that book is turning you into an angry Yami," said Ashido looking over, they were on a couch. "What even is it?"
"I don't have an honest answer," admitted Tokoyami. "It's a dark message that I need to deliver to another in my dream."
"What message are you trying to send?" asked Iida leaning over. "I've never seen a language like this before." Sero took out his phone scanning it over the text.
"Nothing," frowned Sero looking at his phone. Shoto walked over; he leaned over picking up the book. "You know something, Todoroki?"
"I've seen this book in Eva's room before," recalled Shoto. "I think she has things to help translate in there."
Ashido sighed. "The only problem is that Bakugo's not letting anyone in her room, not even to tend to her plants."
Shoto's memory***
Shoto was in Eva's room waiting late one night, waiting for her to come back from the Otherworld. He grew curious about some of the books on her bookshelf. So, he had one picked on up, the only problem was he had never seen the language before. He was in her hammock, flipping through the pages on a skim when a strong forest smell filled his nose. He looked up to see Eva stepping through the tapestry, no matter what it was like watching it happen for the first time. Eva wore a blue petal top that looked like a slinky twist top, a long-sleeved crop top, and a blue skirt that went just below the knees. She had a green swirly armband around her left bicep. She had her hair down which was complimented with the moon headpiece he gave her for Christmas. Shoto felt his cheeks heat up due to the top pushing up her chest a bit, creating cleavage.
"Shoto," Eva greeted looking over at him. "What are you doing here?"
"Waiting for you," answered Shoto watching Eva close to the portal. "You've been gone since yesterday." It was the weekend, and as soon as Saturday classes were over, and spending time with Eri, Eva had gone to the Otherworld for the rest of the weekend. Eva studied him as she went over to the hammock, she looked down to see the book he had in his hands. "The language."
"My native tongue," answered Eva climbing in the hammock. "This is a combination of stories told to me by my elders and others. Is it alright if I don't change out of my normal clothes?"
"Yeah, it's fine," said Shoto as Eva sat next to him. "So, these stories, just how long ago?"
"Some of them are from the time of Aristotle in 346 BC," answered Eva looking at him. "They serve more as lessons." Shoto had a look of admiration in his eyes, and he didn't seem alarmed by how far back the story was. "Do you want me to tell you a story...or...I can translate it for you."
"I wanna hear you speak in your native tongue," said Shoto adjusting himself till he could put his head on her shoulder, and wrapping his arms around her. He closed his eyes taking in her floral scent and feeling the sleeve of her top. Eva responded to him in her native tongue making his eyes open, he looked up to see her staring down at him. "Hm?" Without a word, Eva gave him a sweet gentle kiss, making him smile more.
****Flashback over***
"Todoroki," said Sero shaking him. "You spaced out there."
"Sorry," said Shoto shaking his head and becoming saddened by the memory. "This is Eva's native tongue, it makes sense why it is not recorded anywhere else."
"If it's her native tongue, then perhaps we should pay a visit to her family," suggested Kirishima. "They are on campus, right?" Tokoyami stared at him and cursed himself for not thinking of that sooner.
Later that night, Shoto pulled a journal from his bookshelf. He stared at the writing, the familiar penship marks. Eva had translated a few of her stories, the first one dated back to before Atlantis sank into the ocean. It was about a family that lived in Atlantis. The other stories Eva had written for him traced back to Pompeii. The Wind in the Pine Tree. Stories from Babylon, the Jomon period, and stories that surrounded the building of the Great Wall of China. Shoto read everything that Eva translated for him on repeat.
****Tokoyami's dream****
Tokoyami and Dark Shadow found themselves outside a cemetery; they had a slip of paper with the message.
"Tokoyami!"
Before he could react, he got engulfed in a hug; Dark Shadow circled them tightening the hug.
"Yuki," said Tokoyami as he pushed her back. "How are you contacting me right now?"
"Dreamwalking," answered Eva. "You got the message?" Tokoyami held up the paper, she went to grab and he pulled his arm back.
"Don't you want to know about everyone?" asked Tokoyami.
"I know Izuku left UA," said Eva. "Despite the horseshoes in place to hold me captive, I can still hear far echoes in the cave." Tokoyami gave her the paper. "You are a lifesaver, Tokoyami."
"What did you have me deliver to you?" asked Tokoyami.
"A curse," answered Eva, the bird man became alarmed. "It won't kill anyone, but it will do what I need it to do."
"A curse?" repeated Tokoyami.
"Yeah, as soon as the ghost on my end has possession down...I should be seeing you all soon." Her mood changed. "Tell the others to focus on Izuku and bring him back. Please tell Katsuki to care of himself, and that I love him." She tilted her head. "How is my best friend?"
"Jiro and Shoji say they have him crying at night from your room," answered Tokoyami. "He's stressed about Midoryia and you."
***
Morning came around, and Tokoyami was sitting at the table staring at nothing.
"So, who did you deliver that message to?" asked Iida.
"Was it truly as dark as you said?" asked Ashido.
"I delivered it to Yuki," answered Tokoyami.
"Eva?" asked Bakugo from the couch, suddenly appearing at the table; he grabbed Tokoyami by the shirt. "Is she alright? What did she have to say? Where is she?"
"Calm down, man," said Kirishima pulling Bakugo back. "Tokoyami probably just had a bad dream."
"No, Eva's capable of dream walking," said Katsuki, the others became shocked. "She's capable of a lot of things, something me or any of us can only dream of doing. How is she?"
"She was in this hospital gown and had fresh cuts along her cheek and lip. From what I can tell they are probably dissecting her a bit," answered Tokoyami. "Other than she seemed fine." Bakugo was definitely not happy with that answer.
"Where is Yuki?" asked Urakaka.
"Yuki said she's being held in a cave, she said something about horseshoes," said Tokoyami putting his hands together.
"So why doesn't she escape?" asked Mineta. "She's fast like Hawks."
"She can't," said Katsuki making a fist. "The damn horseshoes are preventing her from leaving; hang iron horseshoes above a doorway and it'll keep away spirits or trap them. Kill any of the people holding her captive, and it'll be a long time before she is rescued." He sat in a chair folding his arms.
"How did you find out about the horseshoes?" asked Yaoyorzou.
"When we were younger if we passed by one of those religious spot, she'd get this horrible rash, make comments that she felt she was burning from the inside," explained Bakugo. "What sort of message did Eva have you bring to her?"
"A curse she said," answered Tokoyami. "Nothing to kill, but it will do what it needs to do." He studied him. "Did you know Yuki is capable of doing such things?"
"Of course I did," said Bakugo, staring at the table. "I've known since the day I learned she was fae."
"I am concerned about Yuki as we all are, but isn't cursing someone, really bad?" asked Tsu putting a finger to her face. "Like really bad, ribbit."
"I am concerned as well," said Tokoyami. "She would not even tell me what the curse was about. All she said was a green book, page nineteen and line six." Bakugo smiled a bit.
Kirishima noticed right away. "Do you know something about it Bakugo?"
"It's a sleeping curse," answered Bakugo.
"Those are real?" asked Shoto tilting his head. "Sleeping curses like from that story are real?"
"Yeah," Bakugo nodded looking over at him. "As real as she is." He thought back to the memory that came with the curse. "When we were 9 Eva spent hours trying to perfect this particular one. Deku spent twelve hours trapped in a dream. He didn't realize he was in a dream until he woke up." Bakugo smiled a little thinking about the memory.
"What the hell?!" demanded Mineta putting his hands on his face and shaking. "I didn't think Yuki could be so scary."
"She always stresses to us not to kill the bugs," said Koda.
Bakugo frowned a bit. 'I can see why Eva never really used magic in front of people'.
"There is no reason for you to be suddenly scared of her," said Todoroki. "She is still Eva."
Urakaka nodded. "Todoroki is right, Mineta." She looked at her fist. "Bakugo and Deku don't fear her and she is our friend." Bakugo looked at his hands, it was the reverse, Eva was pretty scared of him and Deku for the first two months of knowing them. "I want to know why Yuki has hidden this from us."
"Eva wanted to appear and act as human as possible around others. Blend in with everyone," answered Bakugo with a frown. "I never knew why. It wasn't until UA started she started to slowly be more comfortable not appearing as soon." Bakugo looked at Tokoyami. "I didn't know she was fae until just over a year of knowing her. Did she have anything else to say?"
"She told me to tell all of you to focus on bringing Izuku back," said Tokoyami. "Focus on him." He looked at Bakugo. "She wanted me to tell you to take care of yourself and that she loves you."

Back at the cave, Eva was sitting on her knees across from Shigaraki during downtime.
"What else can you do?" asked Shigaraki taking one of her hands, he focused on her pulse not increasing, how could she not be scared of him.
"Well...do you have any teeth on you?" asked Eva. Shigaraki tilted his head. "Do the Nomus have any loose teeth?" Shigaraki got up; disappeared for a few seconds then came back with a handful of teeth. "A-"
"They can rejuvenate," Shigaraki reminded her. Eva nodded taking one of the teeth. She showed it to him, closed her hand, and opened it revealing a coin. "How--" He took the coin; examining it thoroughly.
"I went to teeth school between 10-12," answered Eva. "If I had passed the toothy fairy examination, probably wouldn't have ventured to down the hero path." He looked at her oddly, she put her hands on her face and closed her eyes. "I know that probably sounds really stupid to you."
He suddenly dropped the coin; grabbing his head and making sounds of pain, Eva opened her eyes.
"Get out of my head." His arm started to transform; puffing out with mutations; then went back down. Shigaraki looked up at Eva angrily; his hand jolted forward; she raised her arm; striking his wrist with hers; pushing it away. He then laid back; not groaning as much as before. Eva went over to his head gently putting her fingers on the sides of his temple. "Get your hands off me."
"There is this technique I know that gets rid of headaches quickly," said Eva as she began to rub the side of his head. Shigaraki remained silent for a second; taking her the gentleness of her hands just after All For One tried to take control of Shigaraki's body even more. He then started to shift; turned his head, putting it on her chest, and his arms lay beside her. She circled her hands around his head, Eva then used some of her magic, cutting off All For One's consciousness in all forms from Shigaraki's mind as long as he was in this room. The enchantment will break the moment Eva makes her escape.
Later that night, Eva was sitting around the fire with Toya, Spinner, and Shiagraki, they were all staring into the fire, listening to the rain above.
"So...." began Toya. "What is power to you, fae?" Shigaraki and Eva slowly looked at him
"My power is my people," answered Eva looking back at the fire. "Life would not be worth living without them." Toya stared at her, thinking back to his father discarding him due to not being strong enough with his power. "I was talked into going down the hero path in order to protect them more."
"The hero path wasn't your original plan?" asked Shigaraki looking at her in surprise.
Eva shook her head. "No, originally I was just going to blend in human society like my dad as a forest ranger or just be in the Otherworld."
"A forest ranger," repeated Spinner.
"They are super cool, like cooler than heroes," Eva answered with a smile, they both looked at her. "They patrol protected areas and wildlife, prevent poaching. Every time Dad finds a creature extremely hurt, he brings it home to be taken care of and to recover. Just this summer we had a family of raccoons with us, trapped in a cage, in some abandoned house." Eva looked up. "By now, they should be back in their habitat." She looked at the two of them. "Being fae we can understand what animals are saying. We can hear their cries for help more clearly and help them more directly with whatever problem they have."
"How much does he get paid for it?" asked Spinner scooting closer to her.
"We don't get paid," answered Eva as Shigaraki scooted closer as well.
"Then how do you live in a house?" asked Toya in surprise.
"Oh," breathed Eva looking to the side. "A little of this." She rubbed her fingers together. "And a little of that." She continued to rub her fingers together.
"You use magic to get out of bills and taxes?" asked Shigaraki. "That's against society."
Eva looked at him. " Don't get at me for not doing the human thing of paying taxes and bills, when you are trying to destroy society as a whole." Shigaraki opened his mouth and then closed it realizing she had a point.
"What were your plans when you were 5?" asked Spinner. "Your big plans here?"
Eva tilted her head. "I didn't step foot inside a human villagee till I was 8...my plans had nothing to do with humans."
"So, what were your plans?" asked Spinner.
Eva tilted her head. "At the age of five, I had a passion to become a singer." The three looked at each other. "I thought it would be fun be one of those voices that lure men into forests. I used possess dolls for fun." Eva had to watch her tongue; if she mentioned mirror magic, they'd take away the one in the room.
"L-L-Lure men?" stuttered Spinner pulling at his scarf. "What for?"
"Fun, of course," answered Eva with a shrug. "We fae do love a good laugh, though not delivered the same for person."
Toya grabbed a strand of her hair. "Ever lure people?"
"Yes," she answered, she paused. "I won't deny villains are my favorite to lure." Shigaraki looked at her with annoyance. "No matter who a person is, the unknown of a dark forest makes people jittery. It's fun watching a villain, sweat with fear. It's the feared developing fear."
"It sounds you like to remind villains that they are still only human," said Toya. "Humble them." Eva looked at him. "Gotta say, I respect the tactic."
"If I do it well enough most of the time, they walk away from dark deeds," said Eva. "I've seen them turn themselves in willingly."
"What would heroes say about this?" asked Shigaraki. "Going behind their backs?"
Eva looked at him. "They don't know, and most don't like tangling themselves with the supernatural." Shigaraki opened his mouth. "Even your boss doesn't."
"How about the old bastard?" asked Toya, referring to Endeavor. "You were at his agency."
"That is a complicated matter," answered Eva. "He and my mom dated; has a picture of her in the office." All three looked sharply at her, especially Toya.
"That bastard got a fae to date him?" asked Toya in disbelief.
"They met when they were 8," answered Eva looking at him. "He was terrified of my mother."
"Did you resent your mother for being terrifying?" asked Shigaraki.
"Admired her," answered Eva. "Once watched her take control of a whole yakuza group from afar and have them march into a river where a couple of kappa were relaxing. The police were never able to get to the bottom of it." Spinner just nodded.
"So, if you decide to step away from hero life, what would you do?" asked Toya.
"Open a sanctuary for Griffins," answered Eva without a second thought. "Severely misunderstood creatures. I'd move deeper in the forest, higher in the mountains."
"I still don't think I'd consider you a true hero," said Shigaraki putting a hand on his face.
"There's no such thing as a true hero," said Eva looking at him, this surprised Shigaraki and Toya. "Even the gods have flaws. If the gods have flaws do people truly think heroes would be perfect? That is ridiculous." Eva looked back at the fire. "I mean look at Achilles, his greatest flaw of all was his pride." She smiled a bit. "Plus, I do enjoy playing tricks on people, I'm not ashamed of it." Shigaraki and Toya looked at each other for a second and exchanged small smiles.
"You are okay with people having flaws?" asked Toya in surprise.
"Aren't those reasons to love someone even more?" asked Eva tilting her head. "If something seems to be perfect to be true then it probably is. If I'm going to love someone then I want them to have flaws that way I know they are real." She looked at Shigaraki. "Why did you call it the Paranormal?"
"It was designed to be a little more inclusive," answered Shigaraki looking at her. "Do you not like it?"
"Not really," answered Eva.
"Not surprising from a wanna-be hero," said Spinner.
"No, it's not that," said Eva looking at him. "I am not sure if you are aware, but I am a paranormal person, born one." Spinner looked at her. "You get offended for not being considered human while I now get annoyed if I am considered one."
"I guess I see it from your point," said Spinner. "Why else don't like that name?"
" Even though you three are villains, you can enter holy ground, while I can't," answered Eva.
"Huh?" asked the three, they were filled with curiosity.
"Holy ground is designed to repel evil, such as demons and some ghosts," answered Eva looking back at the fire. "Fae." She looked at her hands. "The og villains with supernatural abilities."
"You?" laughed Shigaraki. "You are considered evil?"
"Yeah," answered Eva smiling a little. "I can try to be as good as possible, but if I manage to step onto holy ground without being repelled first, I'll burn up." Shigaraki reached out, grabbing a strand of her hair, he raised it to his nose to get a whiff of it.
"Oh," breathed Spinner as he grabbed a bag by him. "I grabbed a few books for you as requested."
"Much appreciated," smiled Eva as she was handed them, she flipped through the books, she saw a character and species description sheet for League of Legends." Eva put down the books and flipped through the League of Legends book. "Ahri is is accurate to a kumiho...they can be nasty to deal with when hungry...they probably think the same about me during the full moon."
"Why the full moon?" asked Skeptic.
"Fae are more likely to be vengeful during a full moon," answered Eva looking over at him.
"Back to Ahri," said Shigaraki as he looked down at the page.
"Kumiho prey on men," answered Eva looking at him, Shigaraki flipped the page all the way over to Yasuo and Yone. They all stared at Eva as she took a minute to read.
"Well?" asked Toya and Spinner.
"Reminds me of Lord Susanoo and Lord Tsukiyomi," answered Eva. "The myths are not wrong about Lord Susanoo having a bit of temper."
"You met them?" asked Spinner with wide eyes. "Truly met them."
Eva nodded. "Lord Susanoo was furious when he learned I had a quirk, he did not quite understand them at the time."
"So why would he be furious with you about your quirk?" asked Shigaraki. "Sounds like something he'd wanted to learn more about."
"It was due to my quirk, wind," answered Eva looking at him. "Lord Susanoo is the god of sea and storms, that means he knows what he's doing when it comes to wind." Eva looked back at the book. "When I first developed my quirk, the village had decided to turn to others before humans. I still work with them from time to time to understand the element more since it was not a natural element or elements I was born to which is as you know by now, its earth."
"So what is it like working with gods?" asked Toya.
"Intense," answered Eva. "I doubt that demon lord down the hall will truly be able to accomplish whatever he is going for. He will get humbled quickly if he decides to piss off any of the deities."
"About the older brother?" asked Spinner pointing at the page.
"Kind," answered Eva. "Strong and powerful, yet mannered and polite. Respect him and he will do the same to you. I learned a lot about wind from Lord Susannoo, but kindness from his brother."
"What do you hate most about being a hero?" asked Shigaraki, changing the topic.
"The number of times I get asked if I have any stupid magical beans to spare them," answered Eva, flipping the page. "It's cute when kids do it, but adults are very annoying." This made Toya and Spinner laugh.
