Chapter 29
The day came for the test, it was taking place at National Dagoba Arena. They all stood outside, staring at the building with the cases.
"Ugh...I'm getting kind of nervous," Jiro admitted.
"I wonder what they're gonna make us do," Mineta said as he bounced around. "Ugh. What if I can't get my license?"
"Mineta," Aizawa said bending to his eye level. "Don't ask if you can. Say you will."
"Right. Sure. I've got this!" Mineta panicked even more.
Aizawa stood back up. "If you can pass this test and get your provisional licenses, then you novice eggs will hatch into chicks. You'll be semi-pros. I expect your best."
"All right," Kaminari smiled. "I can't wait to be a heroic chicken."
"You seem excited, Yuki," Tsu noted as she looked up. Eva had hold of her feet as she was spinning in the air.
"When I pass this test, I will be the first fairy to ever be semi-pro, which means I'm a step closer to being the first fairy hero pro," Eva answered. "I am so excited!"
"Getting our license is going to be so sweet!" Ashido squealed happily.
"I will win the judges over with my mag-ne-fiq power," Aoyama said as he clapped his hands together, the rest of their class went a bit more happy and confident.
'Thank you, Yuki," Aizawa said to himself.
"Let's call out the usual, you guys!" Kirishima encouraged. "On my mark...Go Plus..."
"ULTRA!" Kirishima shouted at the same time as another. Eva stopped spinning she looked over to see a tall passionate guy, with a hat on.
"Y'know it's pretty rude to barge into other people's huddles like that, Inasa," a guy with purple hair said.
"What? Pardon me," Inasa apologized. "I am so...very...extremely...sorry!" He slammed his head into the ground.
"Who is this guy?" Kaminari asked as some of the class sweated. "I do not trust his enthusiasm."
"It's passion, not enthusiasm," Eva corrected. "I think it's great."
"I still do not trust it," Kaminari said turning to her. "And you shouldn't either!"
"Hey, look at their uniforms," Jiro pointed out.
"They're from that famous school on the other side of Japan," Sero added.
"UA in the East. Shiketsu in the West," Katsuki said.
"I wanted to say it just once," Inasa said as he stood up. "Plus Ultra! See, I really love UA High School! I am extremely honored to compete against such incredible students. I am so looking forward to it." Blood started to come out of his head.
"Oh. Blood," the girl said looking over at Inasa.
"Let's go," Shishikura ordered as he walked away. The other two students joined.
"Inasa Yoarashi," Aizawa mumbled.
"Do you know that guy, Mr. Aizawa?" Hagakure asked.
"Indeed," Aizawa answered. "He's strong." All the students gasped. "He's the same year as you all and received the top scores for students admitted through recommendations. But for some unknown reason, he turned down his acceptance to UA and went to Shiketsu."
"Wait. He's...our age?" Izuku asked.
"Before I go!" Inasa exclaimed as he popped over to the ground, he grabbed Eva's hand. "You are the very first fairy I have ever met! I am so happy we finally got to meet!"
"Nice to meet you as well," Eva smiled.
"Fairies have always caught my interest, even with no soul they are still filled with extreme passion!" Inasa said as he put his other hand on her. Izuku, Katsuki, and Shoto were becoming highly annoyed. "It is just as I read and seen before! You are so very beautiful!"
"Thank you," Eva said as her cheeks grew red.
"Let's go Inasa!" Shishikura ordered.
"Great to meet you, UA students," Inasa smiled as he turned around. "Please excuse me!" He joined his other classmates.
"Hold on. Is anyone else confused here?" Sero asked as Eva looked at her hand. "This guy says he loves our school, but he turned down his chance to enroll when it was offered?"
"Yeah. What a weirdo," Ashido said.
"Maybe, but he's the real deal," Aizawa said. "Keep an eye on him. "
"Eraser?" Ms. Joke asked, and their teacher immediately became annoyed. "I'd know that scowl anywhere! I saw you on TV and at the sports festival. But it's been a while since we were this close in person." They saw a woman walking towards their class, and their teacher's eye twitched.
"She looks familiar," Izuku said.
"Let's get married," Ms. Joke suggested.
"No," Aizawa denied. Mina became highly entertained.
"Ha, ha!" Ms. Joke laughed she turned away holding her stomach. "You're a real laugh-riot, buddy."
"As usual, you're impossible, Joke," Aizawa groaned.
"Oh, that's Ms. Joke! The smile hero!" Izuku began to fanboy. "Her Quirk is Outburst! She forces people around her to laugh, which affects their ability to think and keeps them from being able to move. Her fights against villains are always full of insanity!"
"Come on, imagine it!" Ms. Joke smiled as she gave a thumbs-up. "If I was your wife, you'd have a future full of constant laughter.
"That sounds like an actual nightmare," Mr. Aizawa said. Ms. Joke turned away laughing.
"It seems like you two are close," Tsu noted.
"Our agencies were near each other," Ms. Joke answered. "As young heroes striving to make a difference in the world, a mutual love bloomed."
"No, it didn't," Mr. Aizawa denied quickly.
"I do miss your quirk resorts," Ms. Joke said. "You're my favorite person to tease, future husband."
"So, Joke. If you're here, then that must mean..." Aizawa began.
"That's right," Ms. Joke smiled. She looked back at the other students. "Over here, everyone. This is UA."
"Oh, whoa. This really is Class A!" the first guy smiled as they approached.
"Wow, that's so amazing," the blonde girl smiled as tapped the first guy. "I've seen them on TV before.
"Second years from Ketsubutsu Academy," Ms. Joke introduced her class. "This is Class 2. They're my students."
"Hey, I'm Shindo," a guy greeted as he took Izuku's hand. "Seems like UA's had a lotta trouble this year, musta been tough for you."
"Uh, yeah," Izuku said.
"But even so," Shindo said as he went over to Kaminari, taking his hands. "You're still aiming to become pro heroes, despite those hardships." He did the same to Jiro. "It's wonderful. Heart full of fortitude! I believe that's what every hero in the world needs to have."
"You are pretty nice," Eva said.
"And you are supernatural!" Shindo stated as he took her hands. "Heroes should strive to be both. And Bakugo." He looked over at the guy. "It must've been hard for you with that whole kidnapping incident."
"Huh?" Katsuki grunted.
"You have an especially strong will, don't you?" Shindo asked. "Today, I'm gonna do my best to learn from you." He held out a hand. "I really hope you don't mind."
"Stop pretending," Katsuki ordered as he smacked away the hand. "What you say doesn't match the look in your eyes."
"Hey, man, don't be so rude!" Kirishima scolded. He turned to Shindo. "Sorry, he's just like that."
"It's fine," Shindo assured. "It proves how tough his heart is," Katsuki grunted looking away.
"Hey, Todoroki!" Nakagame greeted as she ran up. "Can I have your autograph? You were so cool at the sports festival! Yuki, what was it like kissing him? Must've dreamy, right?"
"Uhh..." the two breathed.
"Seriously?" Toteki asked. "Stop fangirling."
"I'd be happy to sign somethin' for ya," Mineta offered as he appeared behind the girl.
"Hey. Get your costumes and head to orientation," Mr. Aizawa ordered. "There's no time to waste." He went towards the building.
"Yes, sir!" the students responded.
"It's weird," Jiro admitted as they headed towards the building. "I always forget we're famous to other schools
"Oh, yeah, we're basically celebrities when it comes to hero course students," Kaminari smiled. "No pictures, please!" They went in to get into their costumes. The only section of the back open now, was for her wings to get through, so a giant circle. She had the same swirl designs in the front. Her skirt, arm pieces, shoes, and pants were all the same. Around her waist, she wore a belt that had two bags attached to her. One bag on each side. She also had those goggles from her internship. She was now standing in a large room, which was packed with thousands of other examiners.
"Look at this crowd," Izuku said.
"There as so many," Urakaka added.
Mera groaned into the mic. "Okay, then. Let's do this exam thing. I'm from the Heroes Public Safety Commission. Name's Mera. My Circadian Rhythm is so screwed up." He lowered his head. "Ah, man. I've been swamped lately and I haven't gotten much rest. We're too short-staffed. I'm so tired." He put a hand on his face. "With that confession, I'll now begin orientation. So, about the content of this license thing. Basically, 1,540 examinees compete in a free-for-all exercise, or whatever we're calling it this year."
"Seriously?" Sero asked. "That's not a lot of info."
"See, we've got a lot of pros around, and since Stain was arrested, many people expressed doubts about the status of heroes in society," Mera continued. But, when you really think about it, getting paid makes sense. If you're going to risk your life to save someone, why shouldn't you ask for a reward, huh? That's just the way the world works. God, I could use a coffee. Anyway, whether they're in it for compensation or out of a sense of duty, we've got too many heroes working together in the streets these days to keep villains at bay. Honestly, the time between an incident begins and when it's resolved is ridiculously short. You are all here trying to receive your provisional license so you'll be swept up in this tiresome mess yourselves pretty soon. Those of you who don't have the speed, frankly just won't cut it. Which is why that's what you'll be tested on." The screen changed. "The first 101 students to fulfill the requirements will pass today."
"There are over 1,500 people taking this test," Yaoyorozu said. "I thought they said about half of us would be passing."
"They must've changed it this time around," Eva said.
"This means...its actually less than ten percent who'll get a license," Tsu gathered.
"Oh, man, I'm getting way more nervous," Jiro panicked as she hugged herself.
"Well, the world can get pretty crappy," Mera said as he got to his feet. "I supposed I should say something about luck. So, anyway, here are the basic rules." He held up a ball and target. "The examinee will put three of these targets on his or her body. They can go anywhere you want as long as it's an exposed area. So not soles of the feet or armpits. Each of you will also have six of these balls. The targets are programmed to light up whenever they've been touched by the balls. If all three targets light up, you're out. Oh, and the person who lights up your third target will get credit for your defeat. You get through this round by taking down two people. Got it? Good." The people started to hand out the equipment. "What else? Uh, I guess we'll start passing out the targets and balls. Then, you'll have a few minutes to get situated after we open."
"Open?" Todoroki repeated. The ceiling above them started to open up, and as it opened more they saw that they were placed inside the arena already.
"I'm sure each of you have different terrains that you like or want to avoid," Mera said. "Use your Quirks well and do your best. Or not. Whatever. Yes, I know, it makes for a great reveal, doesn't it? And for what? So much sleep lost for this. Hopefully, some of these kids are fast and we can get this over with. Until then, I'm gonna rest my eyes." Eva placed two targets on the front of her shoulders and one target right below the belt on the left side. People started to go to their desired spots.
"Everyone!" Izuku called out. "Stay close together, we'll fight them as a group."
"Mm," Ochaco nodded.
"Got it," Tenya responded.
"Yeah, right," Katsuki denied. "This isn't a field trip." He started to go off on his own.
"Idiot," Kirishima grunted. "Wait up!"
"Kacchan!" Izuku grunted as Kirishima followed Katsuki.
"Kirishima!" Tenya shouted.
"I'm going on my own, too," Todoroki said.
"Shoto?" Eva asked as Shoto started to walk away.
"It's hard for me to use my power safely when a big group is around," Todoroki explained before taking off.
"Todoroki," Izuku breathed.
"Midoriya! There's no time, let's go!" Mineta ordered, Izuku nodded.
"I don't think it's a good idea for them to go off on their own though," Izuku said as they started to move as a group.
"How come?" Mineta asked.
"Think about it," Izuku advised. "Everyone already knows what powers we have."
"They did research?" Urakaka asked.
"They didn't have to," Eva answered.
"I see. The sports festival!" Iida exclaimed.
"The other schools have probably figured out the same way to win that I have," Izuku explained. "This is going to end up being a battle between schools. With that in mind. First, it's likely they'll gang up against Quirks they know."
"Does that mean?" Ashido asked.
"Don't tell me," Jiro grunted.
There was a loud beep. "The first test will now begin." A bunch of people jumped ready to take out the UA students.
"I knew it," Izuku grunted.
"I saw you on TV," Shindo said. "That power of yours also destroys your body. " A bunch of balls started to be thrown at them. "Well, I can't say I'm above taking advantage of that!
Eva sent out four large wind blasts, sending lots of the balls back at their opponents as Izuku kicked some away.
"Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami exclaimed.
"Got it!" Dark Shadow responded as it charged forward grabbing loads of balls. Urakaka made a bunch of the balls fall.
"All right!" Sero cheered as he trapped some with tape. Ashido took care of some with her acid. Yaoyorozu created a shield to protect Hagakure and Tsu as well as herself. Iida ran past them.
"Take this!" Mineta shouted as he captured some of the balls with his sticky purple balls.
"Oh?" Shindo asked.
"We've got this, you guys!" Izuku shouted. "Show them what UA can do!"
"Yeah!" Everyone responded.
"None of our attacks are landing," Makabe said.
"I guess we shouldn't be surprised UA won't go down without a fight," Shindo smiled.
"Maybe not," Makabe agreed. "But we have a plan." The balls he made became stiff. "All done." He threw them down to Toteki.
"I'll take it from here," Toteki said. "Just try not to be jealous when I end up finishing ahead the rest of our class. But I'm sure you won't mind since I'll be reducing enemy numbers with this elegant attack. Target. Lock-On." He threw a ton of the balls into the ground. Class A looked down to try to predict where they were coming from. "Boomerang. Crescent Moon Trajectory. My aim is always true. And since these projectiles are coming at them from underground, no one will have time to dodge."
"Where are they gonna pop out?" Izuku asked.
"Get back, I'll handle this," Jiro smiled as she stepped forward. Her earphone jacks lodged into her gear. "Sound Amplification Amplifier Jack!" She put them into the ground. "Heartbeat Distortion!"
"She's breaking the ground part," Toteki said as the balls started to reappear. "It won't help!"
"They're coming straight for me!" Mineta cried out.
"Maximum strength and viscosity!" Mina shouted as she ran over, Acid was coming from her arms. "Protect this perv, Acid Veil!"
"Wow, thanks!" Mineta smiled up at her. "That's such a great move!"
"It's my defensive special that creates a melty wall," Ashido explained.
"Black Abyss!" Tokoyami exclaimed as Dark Shadow went over him.
"Cooler name," Izuku commented. "And easier to say."
"Now, Dark Shadow. Piercing Twilight Claws," Tokoyami said. One arm shot right towards a girl who shrunk into herself.
"Whew," Nakagame breathed as her head poked out. "That was close.
"Interesting," Shindo smirked. "This isn't the Class A from the Sports Festival. It's obvious their training is making them better fighters."
"Mm. Looks like all the students are still in a stalemate," Mera said. "Not a single one's passed yet. Oh, And don't worry, students, I'll keep you updated with an announcement every time a few students move on to the next round."
"All right," Shindo smiled as he readied his hands. "Outta the way!" He put his hands on the ground. "Their defenses are too strong right now. I'll fix that. Maximum force! Tremoring Earth!" The ground broke up, forcing their classes apart.
"Not good," Eva coughed.
"Everybody run!" Iida ordered.
"What the heck is this?" Ashido asked as they rose with the broken ground.
"His power is insane!" Mineta shouted.
"Deku!" Urakaka called out as Izuku fell off the rising earth.
"We've got Ultimate Moves, too," Shindo smiled. "You didn't think you were the only ones, did ya?" Eva ended away far from her classmates; she was alone. But she had to be careful, opponents could be anywhere. She breathed in slowly taking in the area around her; she could sense everyone and everything within the vicinity. Eva used to hate how her senses were way more heightened than everyone else. She remembers hiding in the Midoriya's bathtub the first time she heard firetruck sirens, Izuku brought her All Might earmuffs to help. Now, her senses feel like an advantage more than before.
"Come on," Mera yawned. "There should at least be one or two who've passed by now. Stop biding your time and get this over with. Eva slowly rose in the air, she spotted Sero alone, surrounded and defending himself. Eva shot over appeared behind Sero, and then shot out the air cannons out of all four wings, the balls coming towards them, immediately got sent back to an opponent, Eva set three balls and hit a single person getting them out.
'One more to go,' Eva thought to herself.
"Can't say I'm not happy to see you," Sero smiled. "Thanks for the backup." He used his tape to deflect more of the incoming balls.
"Let's lose these guys and find the others," Eva suggested.
"Already on it!" Sero exclaimed. "All right!"
"Huh?" Mera asked into the mic. "It's about time somebody perked up and passed." He suddenly yelled into the mic. "What?! There were 120 people taken down? A single person managed to do that in just one attack? That actually surprised me so much that I'm awake! I assume we'll see a lot of people passing from now on. Everyone, let's get this out of the way so I can take a break. Good? Good." The people around them were now blown a bit away.
"Must've blown them too far," Eva said. "Sorry."
"There are still plenty of other opponents," Sero said. "Let's go find the others." They started to go in a certain direction.
"Do we fly or is that too much of a risk?" Eva asked.
"Let's fly!" Sero urged. "Not like you can't handle air combat!" Eva grabbed Sero and took off. She was going pretty fast, soon coming across Urakaka.
"Do you hear anybody from our class?" Urakaka asked as they hid by a rock.
"Some of our classmates went into a building, from what I can tell Kaminari and Kirishima are with Katsuki," Eva answered.
"Anyone close?" Sero asked.
Eva focused a bit more, taking in all the sounds around her. "Closes person is Izuku, currently surrounded by Shiketsu students."
"Then that's where we'll go," Urakaka huffed. "To help Deku." Eva grabbed hold of them and then went off to find the green-haired kid.
"Well," Mera yawned into the mic. "We've finally had a 30th-person pass. Still, a pretty long way to go, though. Can't you kids speed this along? For me?" Soon, they found Izuku fighting off a girl from Shiketsu, she was practically naked. Sero shot out tape blocking Camie from Izuku. It was attached to Eva, and she shot out wind making an even bigger barrier, Sero made sure he was stuck to the ground to avoid being blown away.
"Midoriya!" Sero shouted. "What's this enviable situation you're in?"
"Sero!" Izuku exclaimed. "Eva!"
"Urakaka!" Sero called out.
Urakaka jumped over Sero. "Release!" She went down towards Camie, ready to attack. Camie easily dodged. She then back-sprang on top of a rock and sat down.
"And here things were just getting good," Camie pouted. "Too bad. I really, really...wanted to talk to you some more. But not with so many people around. What a bummer." She looked over at the gravity girl. "Ochaco Urakaka. He really trusts you a lot, you know."
"Huh?" Urakaka asked.
"Come back, naked girl!" Sero called out as Camie took off.
"Don't follow her!" Izuku shouted.
"Aw, man," Sero groaned as he took a step back. "Why not?"
"It might've just been her Quirk, but it looked like she wasn't wearing her clothes or her targets," Izuku answered. "There's still a chance she might come after us. But think about it, we don't have much time left, and it would be hard to get a point off of her. Also...you three are you actually, right?"
"Huh?" Urakaka and Eva asked.
"What are you talkin' about?" Sero asked.
"Well, earlier, that girl transformed into Urakaka's clone," Izuku answered. All three of them yelped as their faces grew red.
"Was she naked then, too, Midoriya?" Sero demanded as he shook Izuku.
"That's what you're concerned about?" Izuku asked. "Of course not, she had a costume on!"
"So that hottie's Quirk is to transform into other people. Weird," Sero said.
"I think so," Izuku said.
"We can't underestimate how much those other schools have learned about us," Eva said. "They even know you and Urakaka are really good friends."
"Probably because we were on the same cavalry battle team at the sports festival," Izuku answered.
"Yeah, that must be why," Urakaka agreed.
"Anyway. How'd you guys find me?" Izuku asked. "It was perfect timing."
"Yuki found me first, then we saw Urakaka," Sero answered. "Then with Yuki's senses, she said you were the closest, she mentioned a battle, so we rushed over to help."
"I'm glad we got to help," Urakaka said as she clenched her fist.
"Yeah, me, too," Izuku smiled.
"So we're a quartet for now," Eva said. "What's next?"
"I wish we could meet up with the rest of our class," Sero said. "We're way safer in numbers."
"That's true," Izuku agreed. "But 30 people have already passed this test so far. We have to hurry. If we're gonna pass, we've gotta earn some points."
"If we can't find our classmates, we have to trust in them that they will make it out," Eva said.
"Let's make a plan," Izuku said.
"Let's see, where are we now?" Mera asked. "Things have been moving a lot more quickly. Looks like 52--make that 53 have passed. And, looking on the other side of things. It seems 230 examinees have failed. Less than half the spots are open. Now's the time to move. Don't dally, kids. More examinees have passed. We're at 60 people now. That means there are 41 spots left."
"We're running out of time," Sero said. "This is bad. What do we do?"
"Yeah. I knew we'd be in trouble if we got split," Izuku said. "But at least we can probably do something about the group that's near us and maybe make a few points."
"Really? What are you thinkin'?" Sero asked.
"Earlier, someone tried to outpace his classmates," Izuku began. "He was panicking that he wouldn't get enough points in. Since his class attacked as a group, they'd definitely end up fighting over their targets."
"Oh, so as people got worried, they'll break away from their classmates," Urakaka said. "And then they'll be at a big disadvantage."
"Wait. Then why were you saying we should all stick together?" Sero asked. "We'd be in the same boat."
"Well, to begin with, we were told to hit weak points with balls, so it's easy to think of this as target practice," Izuku explained. "And without knowing our opponents' Quirks, we're basically going in blind. But it's not easy or efficient to go after moving targets, 'cause after all, they'll be protected. Think about it. I wanted to make sure that we trapped enough people for everyone in our class to pass. Then we'd use our balls only after they couldn't move anymore. Our class has a lot of people who excel in restraining groups. So I kinda thought it wouldn't be any trouble."
"I see," Eva breathed. "It's true that if we were just doing target practice, they'd only be able to tell whether or not we were good shots."
"There's more to this test than I originally realized," Sero admitted.
"Shh!" Urakaka whispered. "Listen, you guys." They went quiet. "Does it sound like they're getting closer?"
"What should we do?" Sero asked.
"I can provide a distraction," Eva offered.
"I'll go after them," Izuku offered at the same time.
"Huh?!" Sero asked.
"We can be a decoy so you can move," Izuku explained. "Be on the lookout for openings that'll let you immobilize people to get some points. Your Quirks are better at that than mine. I'm more of a fighter."
"A decoy," Sero said. "There's four of us, so we'd need eight people."
"Seven," Eva corrected. "I got one earlier."
"Roger," Urakaka nodded, then got to her feet. "Sero. Let's do it."
"Okay, fine!" Sero groaned.
"Ready, Eva?" Izuku asked.
"Yes," Eva confirmed as she grabbed him.
"Now, move," Izuku ordered. "Not too fast."
"Right," Eva said as she flew into sight. Balls started to be thrown at them. Eva dodged them, as Izuku kicked some that came too close. Sero captured a few people, as Urakak struck some of the rocks. Eva let go of Izuku for him to strike an attack coming up from underground, as Eva blew a few balls away that was coming towards them.
"Currently, 70 people have passed," Mera announced. "31 people and we'll be done."
"Faster, Sero!" Izuku shouted as Sero caught up to them.
"Midoriya!" Sero shouted. "Carry me and jump! Just do it!" Izuku did as he was told, Sero put tape around Eva, pulling her closer, she was keeping them more in the air, just in case Izuku's quirk stopped. "You're up, Urakaka!"
"Release!" Urakaka shouted. Large rocks attached to tape in the sky, came down, trapping numerous examinees underneath.
"Tape? Seriously?"
"They stuck boulders on the ends and trapped us!"
"Not me!" one stood up, he was quickly trapped. "Wh-What?"
"I gave some tape to Urakaka and had her set some snares for us," Sero explained.
"Nicely done," Eva complimented.
"I said to get as many as possible, but this is nuts," Izuku said.
"In order to make sure that one was in a spot where they'd get crush by the debris. I hid and figured out the perfect timing," Urakaka explained.
"Looks like 76 people have passed at this point," Mera said. "We'll be at capacity soon."
"We don't have much time," Eva said.
"And I'm sure others will come for us soon," Sero added. "Let's take 'em out." They readied a ball.
"You guys are first years, right?" a guy asked as he tried to free himself. "C'mon, can't you give us a break? We have to earn our provisional licenses this time around."
Izuku touched a target. "I'm sorry, but so do I." They all got their points.
"That's 80 people," Mera announced. "Everyone's moving at an exhaustive pace now."
"Wow, that was fast," Sero said.
"Students who have passed the exam should congregate in the anteroom," the target announced. All their targets were now lit up blue. "Chop, chop."
"Can you?" Urakaka asked as she grabbed Eva's arm.
"Of course," Eva nodded. With Sero's help, Eva flew them over to the Anteroom.
"Hope, these kids don't take their youthful energy for granted," Mera said. "The battle royale format is nothing new for the exam, but this time, the patterns are a bit unusual. UA is always heavily targeted from the get go, but so far, all of those students are still on the board." Eva landed right before the doors. "Oh. Four more one after the other. Our totals' at 82..."
"Whoa, this entire arena's going insane," Kirishima said as his group walked over.
"Hey, look, some of our classmates," Kaminari pointed, Eva looked over, and saw that Katsuki was with those two. "Aw, yeah! Class -A represent!"
"Oh, you know it!" Urakaka smiled as they stopped walking. "Our class is amazing! We did it!"
"Class 1-A. Class 1-A," Sero, Kaminari, Urakaka, and Kirishima cheered with each other in a dance.
"So you passed, too," Katsuki said as he walked over, mainly looking at Izuku. "How'd you manage that, Deku?"
"Kacchan. Hey!" Izuku greeted nervously.
"Guess I shouldn't be surprised with that Quirk you got," Katsuki said. Izuku was surprised. "It looks like you've made that borrowed power your own."
"Did you see that wind guy?" Eva asked as she fluttered over to Katsuki. "I heard some of the other examinees talk about it."
"It was that one guy from earlier," Katsuki said. "The one who declined UA."
"I'm hoping I get to see it in action," Eva said. "It's not often to see another wind quirk."
"I saw, he's strong," Katsuki said taking her hands. "It's whirlwind; he was able to make himself fly with it."
"Whoa," Eva breathed softly. "That's amazing."
"Don't you start comparing yourself to him," Katsuki advised. "You don't need a quirk to fly." Upon entering the room, they saw some of their classmates.
"Oh, hey, what a relief!" Momo smiled in relief, she had some meat buns on a plate.
"No need to worry about us, Yao-momo," Kamianri assured. "What's up? When did you guys pass? You been here long?"
"We just finished as well," Shoji answered. "Todoroki beat us."
"I was kinda shocked Bakugo wasn't here already," Jiro admitted as she walked over. "But I get it now. It's because you were with him."
"Oh, come on!" Kaminari groaned. "Why is everyone dragging me today?"
"Where is Shoto?" Eva asked. "He must've gotten more of a glimpse at that whirlwind user. I have questions."
"He's over by Tsu," Momo answered. Eva looked over and saw that Izuku was over there as well. As Eva flew over, she saw that Inasa was looking over, mainly at Todoroki. She turned her attention to her class.
"Ochaco?" Tsu asked. "The key to take off your targets is in the back. They asked us to return them to the shelf now that we're done."
"Oh, cool. Thank you, Tsu," Urakaka smiled. "I'll do that."
"Looks like only 12 from our class have passed," Todoroki said.
"So nine more to go," Eva said as she began to take off her targets.
"And the announcements said only 18 spots left," Momo said as she walked over.
"Shoto," Eva said. "Did you get a closer look at Inasa? I heard his wind quirk is amazing."
"Not much," Todoroki admitted. "But he should be over there, you can always ask him yourself if that's what you desire." Eva looked at Todoroki, something seemed off about him. "You wanna talk to someone with a wind quirk, right?"
"I'm not sure how to approach," Eva admitted as she looked over at Inasa. "I don't wanna be rude." Mera kept making announcements as more students entered the room.
"As long as you are passionate, he'll wanna talk to you," Tsu assured. "Go on." Eva nodded, then flew over, just as she reached, Inasa looked at her.
"Hello!" Inasa greeted passionately. "I'm happy that you are approaching me!"
"I wanna talk to you about your wind quirk," Eva answered. "I heard it can make you fly...that is impressive."
"I am highly interested in your quirk as well!" Inasa exclaimed. "Let's make this a chat filled with our hearts!" The two talked about their quirks for a couple of minutes. Then the alarm blared.
"The last students passed!" Mera announced. "Every spot is now filled! One hundred and one students will advance! The end is finally here! Wah-hoo!"
"Yeah!" Kirishima and Kaminari cheered.
"Our entire class passed the test, I'm so excited!" Urakaka cheered.
"Aw, man! I am so proud of us!" Sero cheered.
"Ribbit, ribbit!" Tsu cheered.
"We really pulled it off, you guys," Izuku smiled.
"Yeah," Shoji nodded.
"Unfortunately, those who failed will now have to withdraw from the licensing exam," Mera announced. "Please leave the test area immediately."
"I should get back to my class," Eva said. "Thank you for speaking with me!"
"I should be the one thanking you!" Inasa exclaimed, his smile dropping, Eva looked over to see him looking at Todoroki.
"Something the matter?" Eva asked. "Did Shoto do something?"
"I despise people like him," Inasa admitted. "People filled with hatred should not become heroes. He is so cold."
"You've met before?" Eva asked.
"Yeah," Inasa grunted. "Why are you friends with him?"
"Shoto was cold when class first began," Eva admitted. "But a lot has changed since then, all of our class has changed." Inasa glanced at her. "He's a good guy, he's not as cold as his first impression."
"I'll believe it when I see it," Inasa said.
"See you later," Eva said before flying back over to her class.
"Did you have a good chat?" Todoroki asked as he handed her a cup of liquid; it was celery juice.
"Yeah," Eva answered. "Though it seems you must've made a bad impression on him. He says you met before."
"I don't recall him," Todoroki admitted. "It's eating at me, I wanna know what I did wrong." He looked at Inasa again. "Whenever we make eye contact, all that positivity leaves his eyes."
"You can ask," Eva suggested. Todoroki nodded.
