Chapter 73

When you had entered your apartment to your displeasure you had found DongMin there, drinking coffee from a cup that belonged to you. Such a simple sight but it sure send your nerves on edge for his presence, especially after what had gone down earlier, it only reminded you of bad traces of bitterness of the past and how disgustingly much he was nothing more but a cheater, just like you father was.

If it wasn't for the fact that Jin was also present in your living room and awake, seated beside him, you would have thrown your bag at his head by now, accompanied by a yell to get the heck out of your sight, which you swallowed, as Jin stood up and questioned Jimin, where the heck had he disappeared.

"Well...Y/N needed a bit of help so...I borrowed your car. There are no scratches at it, I promise." Jimin defended himself as he threw the keys at him, knowing that Jin cared a lot about his car and rarely entrusted it to anyone besides himself.

"Oh yeah? And why did you not reply to any of my calls? I was worried?" You looked towards Jimin too once Jin had asked that for all the way here you hadn't heard his phone going off once.

"You called? Did I put it on silent accidentally?" Jimin played dumb as he searched in his pockets for his phone only to later pretend to be shocked seeing the miscalls displayed on the screen, while he was the one that had put the device on silent, after you had gotten in the car, and had ignored his calls even prior that, simply because he had no time to explain to him the situation and he felt tired to do so over the phone.

"Would you look at that? It's really on silence mode. It might have been stepped accidentally or something. I am sorry I worried you."

"Yah! Don't you think I am tired enough of seeing your stupid ass face acting on TV screens? Do I have to see you acting live too?!" Jin was ready to throw his keys at him as he did the movement for that, kinda mad for he had really been worried, but as Jimin covered his head while reminding him that he was an injured person still, Jin just left a tsk sound echo under his breath before walking up to him and smacking the back of his head, in a way that made you smile.

"I don't want to be the one interrupting but, why are you dressed like this Y/N? Weren't you supposed to be at work?" DongMin's observation got Jin's attention on you as he did have a point for you were dressed too fancy for work.

"You don't want to be interrupting yet you but in other's business, twice with one sentence" You gave him a death stare before you ignored him and walked up towards your room to change, leaving the living room in silence for a bit, until they all took a seat at your small couch, and remained like frozen statues in line.

"Did she slam that door a bit too hard or was it just my imagination?" Jin finally whispered, having realized that maybe you needed some time alone and they should get going.

"Let's just say that it wasn't her best night." Jimin gave his vague reply then he looked towards DongMin, trying to hint to him that especially he shouldn't be there for the moment, for his own health.

"What? I didn't do anything, I just made a simple question. She always does this. Just because I exist that doesn't mean she had the right to shove her anger at me every time she sees me. It's unfair." He complained before taking one more sip from his coffee cup, feeling still heavy and drowsy, and confused about how did he end up falling asleep and being such a wreck when he had barely drunk any alcohol.

"I really don't suggest you say that in her face...I may be a bit mad at you still but seeing you get murdered, is something I wouldn't like seeing." Jimin looked at him with a smile on his face, meaning his words and the more he stared at him, the creeper he started looking, to the point that DongMin started choking on his own saliva and coughing.

"I- I think I am in a better condition now. I will be able to drive. I am going." He concluded and stood up from his seat, to walk away, only for Jin's words to halt his feet, even those they weren't directed at him.

"So what did Y/N need help with that you left in your condition to go to her?" Jimin kept eye contact with Jin even though he had taken notice DongMin looking past his shoulder toward him, hesitating briefly to mention anything, for DongMin would question why was she involved with Jungkook, to begin with.

"She got laid off from work earlier because of a coworker or something and they went together shopping and at the shop, she tried that dress on and sleepy as she was walked out forgetting she had it on and they accused her of shoplifting attempt and she said she would pay for the dress but turns out she didn't have enough  money with her so~ I went and paid for it." If he was not good enough at keeping a straight face he too would have been surprised with the completely made-up story that was being created in his mind and rolling naturally out of his mouth, making him convincing enough for the moment.

"You are telling me that you got out, while injured, in the middle of the night, risking being recognised, to go get her out of trouble?" Jin raised his eyebrow at him and Jimin casually laid back on the couch before stating that there was no reason for him to be surprised by that.

"You know me, don't you? She is on my team now. There's no way I would let someone that is under my wing helpless when it's not even a big deal for me to help. It was nothing much, I reassure you no one saw me." He stated facts that he knew would convince both his cousin and DongMin who had turned around and was giving him a pretty piercing stare.

If Jimin didn't know better, he could almost think that his manager was slightly annoyed with him.

"Oh well, you know better but let me remind you one thing. You aren't allowed to develop feelings for her." Jin lowered his voice even more while he uttered the second sentence and Jimin just smiled before he shoved him away slightly by pushing on his arm.

"Don't be ridiculous. Why would I? Yes, when I like someone, I usually fall in love quickly but it's not like that." He tried to defend himself in between his laughter, which was covering a whisper inside his mind that he pushed further away.

"I don't think it would be a crime or anything, but It's definitely better if we keep this situation clean. "

"I told you it's not like that! Just leave it!" Jimin showed his irritation towards Jin for the topic was something he found unnecessary, then he let his gaze fall on DongMin, who broke his eye contact and looked away, his hand travelling to the back of his head and ruffling it a bit, nervously before he turned around and announced that he was going, leaving the two at the couch observe him vanish from their sight.

Once the door closing behind him was heard, DongMin made some hesitant steps on the corridor while his mind was processing the possibility of something being born between you and Jimin. A thought that made him feel bitter even if he was aware that he had no right and made him egoistic enough to halt his own feet and take his phone out of his pocket, texting you to meet him outside for a minute.

You had seen that text after you had finished dressing up in your comfortable clothes, making a mental note to return the dress to the one that had actually paid for, as you had faintly heard Jimin's explanation earlier which was the only clear words that had reached your ears among before DongMin's announcement of leaving which surely had made you feel relieved, for seeing him right now surely was hard for you.

You didn't want to snap at him just because you were charged negatively but the chances were high and him leaving surely was the best option to avoid that. Yet here he was, texting you to meet him outside for a moment cause he had something to talk about.

"It better be important, cause if not, I will end up in jail tonight." You mumbled to yourself as you put your phone in your pocket and stepped outside of your room, the two men on your couch, freezing visibly after your entry.

"I will go grab something from the supermarket nearby. Need anything?" You gave a simple excuse as Jin requested some snacks while Jimin said nothing as you walked away, leaving them to continue speaking about the true version of tonight's story, that Jimin was spilling to Jin in detail.

Once outside of your door, you took a deep breath before approaching DongMin who had halted near the elevator and was waiting for you. " What is it that you wanna tell me?"

"Are you okay, I heard what happened tonight and-"

"Spare me the sympathy. If this is what you wanted to talk about then I am going." You turned to walk away towards the stairs, unwilling to waste a single more minute with him but he took hold of your arm and brought your steps to a halt.

The way you glared at him, made him retry his hand quickly enough while an apology left his lips, guessing how much that could have possibly triggered you while you were already in a seemingly charged mood.

"God sure is testing my patience today...just tell me to want you to want already"  You took a step back and faced him properly and DongMin looked straight into your eyes as he gathered the courage to ask the question that had started eating him a bit more than usual. For it wasn't the first time you and Jimin had left space for misunderstandings but so far he had just thought it impossible, because of you being who you are and him being who he was.

"I know this will most likely annoy you, but I have to ask...Is there really nothing going on between you and Jimin?" You couldn't help but scoff upon hearing his question, finding it ridiculous and more annoying than the last time he had made that kinda assumption.

"For the last time, mind your own business. It's nothing to you even if something is going on. This better be the last time I have to say this to you." Your stern gaze let him understand well that he was out of line but still that didn't keep him from continuing uttering his thoughts.

"You can't Y/N. He is no good for you. No matter how he seems, never trust him. You hear me." His gaze begged you as he spoke those words, making you give him a confused gaze, as you were wondering if he was saying those things because he too knew what Jimin's mental condition was or there was something else he was referring to, which you were yet to be aware of.

"What are you talking about? He is a kind person, caring and loving-" You decided to provoke him a bit hoping he would go on, using words that you distributed to Jimin more or less by now and thankfully DongMin reacted before you even got to finish that sentence of yours.

"He is an actor, for God's sake! He is good at pretending. I know him for so many years. I am telling you, I don't think he is capable of love. I don't think he is capable of truly feeling any kind of emotion. He is odd Y/N."

"For someone that he trusts and keeps you by his side as a friend, you sure are speaking too much ill of him. Well not that I was expecting anything better to come from you." You tried to walk away after you gave him a downgrading look, only for Dong Min to step in your way and stop you.

"I am not talking ill of him. I am on his side and I am saying these things to you because I care. Yes, the thought of you loving someone new may not be the best, but it can't be him. He will never love you. He has never loved anyone he has dated. He gets from one relation to the other in such a short time and is exactly the same with each one that comes. They are all just a replacement, a search of his to feel something. I know him well and I am telling you, don't fall for that."

"Get out of my face. You think that you can tell me what to do and play worried about me in itself is freaking hilarious.  If you cared about my heart not getting broken so much, you should have been the one to not break it first. Don't tell me you forgot." You pushed him aside and spoke those words to him, maintaining eye contact with him, until he lowered his gaze in shame then you walked down the stairs, leaving him behind.

His words kept circling in your heart, making you angrier and angrier with each step you took for the audacity he had shown was infuriating. And the fact that he had basically requested from you to stay away from Jimin, was only provoking you to do the opposite.

However you had no feelings towards Jimin and playing with anyone's emotions by leading them on, was something you just won't do. Not to mention that the situation was nowhere close to what that airhead - as you referred to him inwardly- was thinking.

All you were was someone that was helping him find out something such so you could later use that information as your the step that will take you inside the dream job you had been wishing for. The only relationship you had with him, was clearly a beneficial business one yet maybe you could agree on the fact that you had both ended up being rather comfortable with each other. But what's the harm in that? A friendship can form under working conditions. It's not like a star like him would ever develop a liking for someone like you. And you definitely could never develop a liking for someone as mentally unstable and lost as he was.
