Chapter 71
Like a storm that comes in uninvited and swipes everything in its way, felt his presence as he entered from a door and fell to your notice, making your emotions sway furiously inside you.
A polite smile on his lips and a straight proudful posture as his figure walked towards his wife, making you unable to tear your eyes away from your father's figure and witness reaching there instead, smiling at her and wrapping his arm around her waistline.
You sure had seen such a view before between them for they were married however, no matter how many times you were to observe it, it never failed to make you feel like puking out all your stomach could have in it, while simultaneously a wave of anger would wrap you in its clutches.
It was barely a few minutes prior that you had said to Jungkook that he should be the better person yet at that moment you found yourself unable to do just that. Even after so many years, you had the same urge of screaming at him, erasing that smile from his face. That stupid happiness of his that you so much hated seeing. He was your father and him being happy should be a good thing but to this day, you saw his happiness as nothing more than unfairness.
How could he be happy after everything he had done to your mother, to you. Why did he have to be happy, why no matter how much time passes he never seems to be showing the smallest sign of understanding or feeling of guilt? That alone was one of the reasons you never want to forgive him. Why forgive someone who never was sorry, to begin with even though he destroyed you so much.
The urge to walk up to him and erase that smile from his face by just showing your presence passed your mind, but it also made you feel scared because you were not like him and unfortunately you had felt that he always managed to get out of control just by showing himself. And that was why you turned around and tried to exit that place, in an attempt to avoid a collision that could potentially scratch the wounds of the past.
Once outside of that place, a trembling breath left your lips, displaying the fact that his sudden appearance had indeed already made an effect on you. You straightened your posture while you encouraged yourself to forget about it and walked away, only to halt by the entrance of the villa. The worker by the door bowed to you slightly after he handed to you, your coat and then you stepped outside, in the familiar cold wind that you had tasted more than enough tonight.
You walked a few steps while you searched for your phone and send a text to Jungkook to let him know that you will be waiting for him outside for you didn't plan on returning in there and risking being seen by your father, then you texted Jimin, telling him to drive back till the gate and wait for you, only for him to call you exactly after he read that text.
"Don't you know how to read?" You replied, finding the call unnecessary
"Someone sure is being bossy tonight. If someone was to hear us someone would things that I am working for you and not the other way around." He left his sarcastic words to echo through the line and you opened your mouth to speak, only to halt yourself upon realizing that you were basically snapping on him without a reason.
"I am sorry...I just...ah" You left a sigh escape your lips as Jimin placed the phone on speaker and brought the engine to life.
"Did something happen?" He questioned as he drove away to reach the gate and you just paced a bit towards that direction while you kept your head low.
" Nothing...I guess this night has just been too long and I am sleepless and tired...my patience is running out." You admitted and heard him laugh a bit.
"You did well. You did more than enough Y/N. You have every right to be tired. It's okay, I will get you home soon." For some reason his comforting words made you nod your head even though he wouldn't be able to see you, feeling a bit warm over the fact that he seemed so understanding.
"Hold up, now that you said home. Is DongMin still at my house?" Jimin hesitated to reply at that for he was guessing that you wouldn't like his reply.
"Oh well...em...you really hate him being in your house, right?"
"Absolutely! I would burn the cushions he touched if I didn't like them and they fit well with my couch." Your firm reply had him pressing his lips as he reached by the gate and pulled at the side.
"Jimin? Why did you fall silent? He is still at my house isn't he?" You halted your steps as you questioned him, feeling your mood getting worse and worse by every second he remain nonresponsive.
"I guess we have to buy some new bed pillows and bed sheets before we get home. I am sorry. I will buy you a whole new bed if it makes it better, even a new couch. How about an air purifier?" He started, trying to lure you with his options so you could be less mad, but honestly, you became so angry at that moment, that you wanted to punch a wall.
"That bastard! How dare he-"
"Y/N" The voice that called your name, brought your angry expression to a freeze along with your words. Your eyes remained looking at nothing ahead while a bit of wind rose and made your hair dance softly, enough to prove that you were not a real still frame.
"Y/N?...what's going on?" Jimin's faint voice reached your ears as you saw your father walking around and bringing himself to stand before you, your hand slowly leaving your ear along with the phone that you were holding and to the open line which you no longer gave a reply, making Jimin put on his mask and his hat and step out of the vehicle.
"I am really surprised to see you here. How come you are at such an occasion?" Your father questioned you as you just took a step back and rushed to collect yourself inwardly.
"I wasn't expecting nor wanting to see you either. So how about we just pretend that we didn't?" Your usual unfriendly gaze fell on him once again before you tried to walk past him but he took hold of your arm and pulled you back to the place you were before him. An action that had you push him away, feeling your skin aching under the clothes he had touched, out of irritation.
"Is it so hard for you to behave in a way that doesn't embarrass me?" His gaze grew strong on you making you scoff at the audacity and only for he had no right to be looking mad at you.
"I don't think you need me to embarrass yourself, father. You do a great job on your own." You spit out without a second thought, not expecting that for that comment you were to receive an abrupt and hard slap on your right cheek. The sound echoed around on a cold night and made Jimin's feet halt as he had run inside to come to you, only to hear through the phone what was happening and have a sight from afar as he had yet to get close enough.
The silence that followed after his action proved to be nothing but a time frame that allowed you to let his actions sink in and as you turned your gaze back to him, his gaze had not to change to anything softer or regretful.
"I am sick and tired of you disrespecting me like this." He uttered and you broke into laughter, while tears had already filled your eyes, finding it ridiculous that those words were coming out of his mouth.
"Disrespecting you would be if I was to return that action of yours in the exact same way. But one of us has to have better self-control."
"Oh, God...You never learn, do you? Just what do I have to do for you to understand your place? Why do you have to be so unreasonable and stubborn! Why do you have to be so much like your mother!?" The tone of his voice kept getting higher and higher as he spoke and your attention was no longer in anything else but him, for his words had managed to trigger you beyond return, making your peripherical vision nonexistent and as such not noticing Jimin that had made his way, and was now standing at a ten feet distance behind your father or so.
"You hate that don't you? The fact that I am so much like my mother...That fact will never change. So maybe it's time you abandon me once and for good like you did with her back then and me." Your words escaped through greeted teeth as your hand had gathered in a fist at the side of your body, feeling a weight forming on your chest and a lump on your throat.
"You chose to stay with her! I would have never left you behind! It was your choice!" He pointed with his index finger at you, putting the blame of his actions on you as he usually does and you couldn't help but chuckle as your tears started scrolling down your cheeks.
Why could he not see, how desperately your eyes were searching in his, for a sign of regret that you never found? How could he not think that every time he keeps being the same shameless coward, it only hurts you more? Why did he have the stupid belief to think that because he cheated on your mother, that should not affect you in any way? Instead, he was the one blaming you and being mad at you for choosing her instead of him.
"Is it so difficult...is it really so difficult to see why I hate you?" Those words left your lips as you brushed your tears away and let him see, the brokenness in your eyes.
"You don't really want me to forgive you...you chase after me because of your ego. You just want to be able to say and brag that you are a good father and that you are loved. You want to have the satisfaction of being chosen and forgiven but I assure you, I will never do either of those things for you." The pain in your chest grew as you spoke those words, the tears in your eyes drying off as the emotions of hate, of pride and ego, took over the ache he was causing.
"You are dead to me. You died that day that you chose that other woman over your family and left a high schooler to take care of a mother that was in her death bed! You have no right to be calling me your daughter and asking for my respect when I had to stop my mother from suicide because of you! When I had to hear her cry in pain every night because of you! When I had to carry the pressure of trying to find the money for her hospital bills because you were nowhere to be found! YOU LEFT ME TO DEAL WITH EVERYTHING THAT YOU BROKE!" You didn't even realize when your voice had grown so much nor did you realise when your anger had taken the best of you and you had ended up pushing him with all your force, making the man stumble on his feet as he stared at you in shock.
"You destroyed my life! You tore my heart! I HATE YOU WITH ALL MY BEING!" Your breathing had become visibly rapid as you screamed those words to him, words that tore your throat and made you feel like you had tasted poison, for the fact that it was like that was more than painful. And the fact that you were lying was more than hateful.
Because you were aware deep down, that you didn't truly hate him but he deserved to be hated. You wanted to hate him so much and the fact that you couldn't fully reach that made you sick and hateful over your own self. Every once of love that remained within you for him, was nothing but a betrayal towards your mother and your own self and as such you wanted to erase those feelings. Erase any good memory he had ever given you before he had done all those things. Accept that he was nothing but a liar from the start and he does not truly love you. For if he did, he would have shown some mercy on a child that had her father as a beloved figure that you looked up to.
"Y/N...Y/N, that's enough, let's go." Jimin couldn't help but interfere at that moment, seeing the rage that was being displayed throughout your whole body that had started trembling and the pain that he could distinguish visibly in your glassy orbs, despite the angry expression that was veiling over them.
He took hold of your hand and started pulling you away, his eyes coming to contact with your father's briefly as you passed him by, leaving him behind standing there as if he was caught still on time, most likely shaken by the harsh words you had so strongly and passionately uttered at him.
Your hand kept trembling in his hold as your vision got blurrier and blurrier with each step you let him lead away from that moment, only to halt near the gate for you could no longer see a thing, because of your tears. You retrieved your hand from him once you got still then proceeded to whip away tear after tear in frustration for you didn't want to cry. He deserved not a single tear that could run out of your eyes.
"Ah...he just had to be there...So annoying." You murmured as you kept trying your best to bring your tears to a stop, sniffing a bit here and there before you lifted your eyes towards the night sky, inhaling and exhaling some deep breaths until Jimin stepped before you and he brought his hand to cup your cheek. An action that had you lowering your head to face him.
The delicate gaze he was giving you, had your mind come to a halt for no one had ever looked at you with that kind of look. It felt like he was feeling your pain, it felt like he taste the same awful taste that you had in your mouth at that moment. The way he sympathised with you had left you staring at his eyes for some seconds, before even realizing that his thumb has been caressing against your skin softly and slowly, in a comforting manner.
"It's okay Y/N...It's not your fault that you don't hate him. It's okay." Those simple words escaped his lips in a whisper but managed to make your eyes grow wide instead at the unexpectantly of the fact that someone had seen through you in depths you never expected anyone to see.
It was something you would never admit even if it was to your own self, yet hearing him speak those words out loud, felt like someone had pulled a string around your heart and had liberated a heavy feeling of guilt and shame that you had coloured your heart with.
No words were able to escape your lips as his words started echoing in your mind and Jimin just placed his hand on your neck and pulled you on his shoulder, offering it to you, to hide and lean on. An action generous and kind that you found yourself hesitating to accept until you heard him speak again.
"I am here for you...You said you wanted to be my friend, so I am here for you. I got you." He uttered right before he brought his other hand to pat your back reassuringly, his warmth making the fearful thoughts and the hesitation of accepting anyone's help, melt away.
Trusting anyone and letting anyone in was surely not easy for you. Allowing yourself to show weakness and lean on someone was almost unthinkable, yet at that moment he sure felt like someone who would not let you fall. He felt like he was on your side and as you let your arms wrap around him, accepting his comforting embrace, Jimin's heart started beating louder in his chest, while he felt relieved and thankful that you were not trying to avoid those emotions of yours.
That's right Y/N...don't be like me...don't break alone and cry alone...I don't want to see any heart walking through pain in loneliness. I know I can't keep anyone from being hurt...I am not that strong...but...I will try to keep you.
