Ch. 1
"That which is unknown-"
"Welcome to Satellite City; the city of life- er, the long lost lights; similar to life for everything and everyone else, billions of light years away. Home of a special species of beings, Gaxitronians, or simpler put G-Bots. Welcome to a realm of peace."
• |That's what I thought, too, that it was all fun and games, a luminous, glowing, and happy world of dreams and daisy, a world of peace, something special. Really, all it is, is a living nightmare. A dreaded vicinity of parel, death. The land of broken fantasies. This is where I come from...
Gadget grunted, shifting and pushing herself into a sitting up position from where she lay in berth, glancing about her room; bare and simple, desk sat in the farthest right corner, berth near to the center where she sat placed against the back wall. Floor, walls, and ceiling colored a dark, dull grey. No shine to the colors whatsoever aside from the brightly lit chandelier hung high on the ceiling top, gold decorative hanging branches draped with lively blazing candles. Bright blue flames illuminating the somberly lit room.
She fiddled with her servos, rubbing her digits against her palms in a bored manner, optics dully shining like dying flames as she stared downward at her servos. Neck craned forward but only slightly.
Staring a moment longer, she forced herself to blink, turning slightly to grab her datapad off her nightstand. Holding it in her grasp, she then leaned back and let her frame relax before shifting into a more comfortable position. Now lounging on her berth, pedes elevated and one servo resting under her chinplate holding up her helm whilst the other was still grasping the tablet.
Well, don't think I've ever been this bored before, She thought, heaving a deep venting sigh as she glanced about her room again, optics clouded as if a haze of mist had engulfed them. As if her sight had ebbed away and all was unlit and dark as if she could see nothing to anything beyond her reach.
Was her life just withering away, from her reach?
The war, in general, all she had succored- not only one but two wars, the Great Predacon Overtake War against her own people and the Predacons so many years ago and the Great War for Cybertron, had both been put to an end. Hit a conclusion; everything did eventually sometime around, even life. What was the point of being around anymore?
::Illusion Prime, would ya mahnd meetin' me in thuh command center?:: Major's deep but highly feminine voice soon boomed over the comm unit, making Gadget shift. She thought of a simple reply, sighing as she pressed her digit to her audial.
::Uh, on my way!:: Gadget chimed, heaving herself into a sitting position, slipping her datapad into her subspace before going to stand. ::What, uh- what's the situation?:: She then decided to add in inquiry, receiving a hum from Major.
::Probem' at Outpost 2B. Thankfully, thuh rest awf thuh team's done down thair dealin' with thuh problem already:: She replied, old western accent thickly spilled into her words for the moment. As it had been for a while now anyway; always had been and no doubt always would be.
Gadget stopped in the doorway, then slowly proceeded to leave as she processed this. She had a fine fit idea of what this "problem" was. ::Shadows?::
Major heaved a sigh on her side of the comm, ::Likely so.::
::So, what you're getting at is that you're not entirely sure, or that you don't know?::
::Yeah, that sounds about raahyt.:: Major responded again, tone quite cocky for the situational status.
Gadget groaned loudly, ::Figures coming from you.:: She huffed sounding unsurprised.
::Not acock, ahr ya?::
Gadget raised an optic ridge at that question, still walking down the hall making her way toward the briefing room. ::Acock?:: She repeated the strange word, curious about what it meant.
Major sighed again, the sound of typing able to be distinctly made out in the background. She was already in the command center, of course. ::Means surprised. Didn't ya know? ah close-fisted, with how much ya're aroun' me, ya'd thihnk ya would.::
Gadget sighed heavily, turning another corner and entering the second corridor. ::Ah, usually I would-:: She rubbed the bridge of an imaginary nose, blinking, ::I'm just tired... Sorry, Maj'.::
::Ahh, it's alraahyt. See ya whe-yn ya git hair, ah guess.::
::Alright, see you in a few, Major.:: Gadget sighed again, cutting the comm as she rounded the final corner. Then came to step inside the command center briefing area after the automatic door opened.
"Howdy, Gadg'!" Major gave a brief wave in greeting, turning slightly in her chair to glance over from her tasking, then returning her gaze to the monitor. "Thihnk ah gawt this settled. Or well, figured out."
"As in?" Came Gadget's response after returning a slight wave, wandering over to examine the monitor screen. Eyeing all the information intently with a hum.
"Ain't Shadows, surprisingly-"
"Odd-" Gadget butted in with a glance towards her teammate, then allowed Major to continue.
"Actually it's sumthin' that ah would know squat about. Ya gawt any ideas awn what it maahyt be?" Major then finished what she had been going to say, returning Gadget's glance. Bringing up her servo, she pointed to something displayed on the monitor's screen; security footage from the University Towerline.
"What in the?-" Gadget cut herself off, analyzing what she was seeing, optics dimmed but intently staring. "It can't be..." She then muttered, exhaling almost breathlessly.
"What," Major spoke up, heaving a heeding sigh of interest. "What is it? A threat?"
"Not exactly, well, back during the war, yeah. But now... I thought we were on the same side?" Gadget scowled narrowly, eyeing the footage displayed before her.
"They some blame defouled idiots? Or thay jus' here t' kick up a row?" Major muttered, disgruntled.
"Were. Used to." Gadget corrected matter-of-factly, "They shouldn't be now."
Major frowned in confusion a moment, raising an optic ridge as she focused her gaze on Gadget. "But ther? ya jus' stated so yourself."
"When ever did I state that?"
"Started at it kay-yun't be." Major repeated the first thing said that had started this query.
"It can't be?" Gadget repeated but in question to make sure that's what she meant, and Major nodded.
"Ah, I see now. You weren't there though, my friend. It's hard to understand."
Major sighed heavily, "Ya know, ya really disgruntle me, Gadg'? Ah may not awf bee-yn thair, but this ol' 'Bot ain't ready for recyculin' jus' yet. Gitty-up awn, explain. Thihnk we gawt a couple minutes befo-wr we kay-yun head out t' help thuh team out."
"Shouldn't that be our main objective though, helping the team?" Gadget inquired, placing a servo on her hip. Doorwings flicking softly.
"Don't know, ya're thuh leader, not me." Major responded simply with a shrug, glancing back towards the monitor.
Gadget made a face, going to object as she opened her mouth. Thinking, however, she snapped it closed again. "Right..." She breathed in a sigh, running a servo down her faceplate.
"Ah bossin' ain't that bad, now is it? Can't be." Major patted Gadget's shoulderplate gently in reassurance, "Ya do a well 'nough job as it is."
"Oh, it's harder than you think; running a kingdom, keeping 'Bots in check, work... Ugh... It gets to ya, slips ya off your pedes in a second. That's for sure." Gadget retorted with a dry laugh, huffing softly as she glanced about. Optic ridges furrowed. They really needed to do something about the intruders.
Major stayed silent a few long moments to let Gadget regain her thoughts as best she figured she needed to before speaking again.
"Well, ya bettermost may-uk uhp yo-wr mahnd raahyt quick. Team kay-yun't hold 'em awk forever, don't ya know?"
Gadget let out a low sigh, "Yeah, yeah... I know, Maj', just-" She hummed, "Just let me think of something. A plan, that's what we need."
"It's all high-grade eend goodies with ya, ain't it?" Major spat in an unnecessarily aggravated tone, rolling her optics as they narrowed.
Gadget made a face, "All high-grade and goodies? What?"
Major heaved an agitated sigh, "Just hobble your lip, would ya?" She huffed, not feeling like explaining the meaning.
Gadget frowned deeper but decided against saying anything and shrugged instead. Hoping that would suffice.
It didn't.
Major facepalmed, groaning quite loudly, muttering a few incoherent words under her breath as she ran her servo down her face. "Kay-yun't we jus' git going, bettermost not ta cut a path thuh rest awf 'em alone awn thair own for much longer?"
Gadget hummed, pondering a moment. "Oh! Uh, yeah- yeah, let's go!" She then spoke, doorwings flaring as she turned and glimpsed at the screen of the monitor one last time. "Better get out there and help them." She then commented with a sigh, clicking her glossa against her denta lightly, turning on her heel as she gestured for Major to get up and follow.
"Thayse punks ahr gonna be knocked galley west," Majaor commented as she stood from her chair, pumping her fists together as she went to follow Gadget out the door. Optics glistening and narrowed in a sharp glare.
Gadget frowned, "Whatever you say, Maj'." She honestly wasn't trying to decipher Major's old western sayings anymore at this point, and was just going with the flow. Giving a simple shrug as she continued down the hall.
"Means 'knocked senseless'." Major huffed, "An' ah tay-uk it that thuh spacebridge is thuh bettermost option for traynsportation?" She then inquired, looking to Gadget as they continued on walking.
"Depends," Gadget hummed, "You got the coordinates?"
Major nodded, "Ah, awf course! it is maah job after all, ah don't work in thuh command center for no reason." She stated, clicking on her visor as she focused her mind on the thought of the coordinates she had recorded earlier, number after number displaying on her almost transparent gray visor afront of her optics. She scanned the numbers.
"Gawt it!" She exclaimed with a prideful grin, before sending the coordinates to Gadget via comm system.
Gadget knew immediately that she had received the coordinate numbers when a loud ping sounded from her mini groundbridge panel that was located, hidden, under her left arm armor plating, humming as she retracted said armor, optics scanning over the panel. "Easy," She stated, "We don't even have to head to the laboratory. Forgot about this little attachment." She laughed, stopping in her tracks, Major doing the same aside her.
"Smart move," Major commented with a smirk, laughing lightly herself.
This was a serious matter and they were wasting precious time, how could they be laughing?-
~time skip~
Gadget groaned, venting hitched as she stared at the infuriated mech in front of her who had just shoved her against the wall, optics wide.
"Y-you know what?! This is your damn fault, you understand me?!" He snarled, scowling as he glared her down. Keeping his servos roughly pressed against her chassis, keeping her against the wall. "I lost my mate because of you." He snarled behind gritted denta.
His intentions had turned homicidal. Murderous thoughts running through his mind, in a quick mild way, merely due to a simple mistake. He had already shot Honeybee, the defenseless, frail, and highly susceptible medic of the Route Tower Team, not only a worker at the highest-ranked medical facility on the planet but also a well-known fraction of Gadget's team, The G-Team.
"I did absolutely nothin'!-" Gadget retorted only to get cut off.
"You did! You're a fibbing slagger! You hear me?!" The mech snarled, shoving his face in Gadget's, breath most definitely unpleasantly hot against the femme's faceplate.
Gadget managed to free one servo from his hold, slapping him hard across the face. "Get the frag away from me!" She growled, clearly feeling threatened as she shoved him away harshly then went to move off the wall. Pushing herself up and positioning herself into a fighting stance, ready to throw quite a few punches if it became necessary. Which was likely.
The mech, surprisingly, went to make the starting move, apparently fed up with her sudden change of attitude.
This was her fault.
She did deserve this.
Gadget swerved away from his reach, but let out an abrupt yelp when he grabbed hold of her doorwing as she turned and went to try and maneuver his moves. Yanking on it, the mech tried to shove her against the wall again, grip tight.
"Try again, femme." He sneered, blood red optics locked with hers, "Oh, our almighty and powerful leader so vital to our living... Really..." He trailed off, shoving Gadget back against the wall with utter ease for him, of course, sniggering loudly as he glared her down, like a phantom burning it's eyes through to her spark, seizing her soul and breaking it into small chunks before her very optics. Einexx running cold through her circuits as she stared deep into his optics, oblivious to the fact he had just attained a blade into his clutches.
Gadget's optics were wide as she let out a brief gasp that gradually faded to the sudden rapid and unstable sounds of her venting.
She choked, optics shuttering as she staggered back and collapsed there on her knees. Using her servos for support with what strength she could muster, stifling a couple harsh coughs by barely a fraction of a moment, as she shakily brought one servo up and set it over her new, gaping wound. The bright golden, sticky substance known as einexx bubbling from the wound, pungent scent hot against her smell receptors, burning like a blaze through the atmosphere around her.
Ultimately, it went from bad to worse; einexx not only leaking from her gaping wound that ran from one side of her chassis to the other, but now drizzling down her chinplate, slipping passed her derma as she tried to force down a rough cough to no avail.
The mech cackled, "Seems you're getting what you deserve." He stated, wondering over and kicking her down. Which caused the femme to collapsed further, merely laying on the ground at this point. Staring up at him, optics clouded and vast.
Her and Major did regret taking it all as a joke. Lives were lost. It was their faults. Just because of a simple mistake.
And this was her demise. Their demise.
Was this really the end?
The day- that week, in particular, had started out so straightforward, regularly scheduled in Gadget's book. Her and her team just chillin', of course, besides for that morning, the call, the false emergency call. The one her and Major had been joking about, taking their sweet time as if it was zilch to them.
That-
That was the wrong choice...
~three weeks earlier~
Major chortled, "Goodness, y'ahwl ahr a riot!" She clamored, slamming her servo down on the slab of a tabletop roughly yet playfully with a sneering grin. She was definitely drunk. Then again, she had already drank about five cubes of high-grade since arriving. And it wasn't even mid-day yet.
"Really? We're the riot, Maj'? Think that suits you." Gadget joked, lightly fumbling with her cube she held in one servo. Optics glazed over. She was drunk, too, of course.
"Think you both are being a riot right now." A gruff voice spoke up, Megatron making his way over to their table with his own glass.
"Engex?" Gadget inquired, noticing the fizzling orange drink Megatron was holding. Glancing over and giving a shrug.
"Yeah, just a small dose. You know I won't go over the top." He hummed in response with a nod, "Unlike you and Major, apparently." He then added, gesturing to the load of empty glasses surrounding the femmes.
"Oh, that ain't engex-" Major spoke up, then cut herself off, frowning in confusion. "Ain't?- er, idn? Anyway, it's level high, well, high-gray-ed."
"Figures with you two,"
"What, femmes can't take breaks? I work all day, Megsy, what do you do?" Gadget scowled, pouting slightly as she sat there sipping her drink. Pedes placed atop of the slab lazily, optics unfocused slightly. She was OVERLY drunk no doubt.
"You do realize I work alongside you right? I'm part of your team." Megatron huffed, seating himself aside the two drunken femmes. "I guard the castle for a living now." He then stated matter-of-factly.
"Riiiiiiight-" Gadget slurred, swiveling her servo in a circular motion next to her helm; as if to say Megatron was insane in a silent and taunting manner. "You're part of mmmmy team... When did I get a team again?" She gave him an utterly confused look.
Megatron heaved an exasperated sigh, placing his glass down a moment as he ran a servo down his faceplate. "Primus Gadget..."
"Yes?"
Megatron glanced up, "What?"
"You said my name," Gadget responded, taking another swig of her high-grade before clacking the glass onto the table and setting it there, empty.
Megatron made a face then just waved her off, "Oh, for Primus' sake nevermind..."
Gadget simply made a face, but didn't go to question him further. Knowing well he was quite the temper-mental type. Big temper; big attitude, cocky, snarky, the whole bucket full; BIG ego. Megatron, oh, he was all those things and more.
Instead of trying to irritate him further, she sat in silence. Dull gaze glancing around the bar, all sounds drowned out by the whirring of her audial receptors shifting, the sound of her thought process overtaking her mind as she sipped on her newly glassed Engex. She had taken it down a notch now. Knowing ever so well, even though she was highly through the roof drunk, she was already bound to be on somebots' nerves.
That's the last thing she needed, or wanted for that matter.
So, her best bet with anything right now, even with how rowdy the bar was amidst already, she accepted that thought as the most decent out of any.
It was her best thought of all, after all...
|Well, well, well... Guess who's back after almost a month- or longer(can't recall XD)
Guess life's a real pain in my ass, or has been being one, Idk lol
But anyway, I'm back and at it again, this time with nearly +3000 words for a first chapter.
-rubs back of neck nervously- Yeeeeeah... This took me about a month.. Oof|
