Chapter 4
Finding You
His footsteps echoed in the corridors of the university, as silence followed him wherever he went. His students kept their eyes on him secretly while they held their heads low, praying that they wouldn't get on his bad side today.
They had grown smart enough to know the changes in his mood by the way his pace would fasten and the difference in the weight of his steps. Students would pass down information to newcomers and have university group chats and guides on the university's web page about how to survive Professor Park.
From his hair color changes to habits that could risk a student's entire graduation, they had analysed him year after year, trying to make it through and pass his class. And whoever was smart knew to follow his rules by heart, for he was known to not be tolerant.
Curiosity, however, still gets the best out of them, and they can't help but gossip among each other about his moods. Hence, once he was out of sight, the silence would transform into a buzz of whispers.
"He looks like he is about to slaughter whoever crosses him," Yuki murmured by the side of Sira's ear as they kept their eyes still on his back that was far down the corridor.
"Good thing we don't have a class today with him. I will pray for whoever has to be in his auditorium today." She replied while looking upwards to the ceiling and murmuring a thank you to the sky for being spared.
"He looks so hot when pissed off, though," Yuki added, and they both looked at each other before they started giggling and playfully pushing each other away.
"Shut up. Do you have a death wish?" Sira shook her head at her as they both started walking away, towards the auditorium they should be at.
The two got engaged in some further small talk till they reached the door and met more of their classmates, who greeted them joyfully.
"Hey Guys, good timing. We were talking about Friday." A girl with short hair rushed and grabbed Sira's arm as she furrowed her eyebrows at her in confusion.
"What about Friday?" Yuki expressed her wonder before she had the chance.
"Taehyung is throwing a party, and this time he said the whole class was welcome!" The other girl popped up by the corner of the door, having overheard their conversation, her excitement evident in her face.
"I can't believe we got finally invited to one. His Parties are legendary!" The short-haired girl threw herself at the girl who joined them and started jumping up and down together, while Yuki smiled at them.
"I have been to his parties. He invites me often." She uttered, as she lifted her chin, the feeling of pride surging within her.
As the three girls started engaging in a conversation about how his parties were and if they were as good as they say they are, Sira remained quiet and just let his gaze travel to the seat Taehyung was in. As always, surrounded by a bunch of people.
Smiling, chatting, making others have a good time. It was an everyday sight for her. One that she disliked.
"Yeah, you all have fun. I am not coming." She uttered as she walked into the auditorium, ignoring the questions they threw at her as she went away.
"What?"
"Why?"
Sira just looked back at them and showed them her distaste, her eyes darting to Taehyung, then back at them, making the other girls laugh at how much she didn't even try to hide the fact that she disliked Taehyung.
Taehyung's eyes followed her figure as she stepped up the stairs to go take her seat, and a faint smile reached his lips as he returned his attention to the people he was talking to, choosing to ignore once again how vocal Sira was about her opinion regarding him.
---Time skip---
You were seated on the floor in the living room, among papers that were scrambled and thrown around, while you were trying to find a way to make everything work out again.
The night had passed after you had fallen asleep on the couch. Your mind was feeling drained from everything that was going on; hence, you had drifted off into overthinking spirals and anxiety. And then you had woken up this morning in the same place, which only reinforced the reality that this really wasn't a dream. Jimin's face right above your head after you had barely opened your eyes well enough had also established that, well, in a traumatizing way.
So traumatizing that even though most of the day had already passed, and you were awaiting him to get back home from moment to moment, you still felt annoyed.
First thing in the morning, not even saying good morning, he just starts ordering people around. He is a prick.
You complained as you recalled the way he grabbed you by your clothes and put you in a standing position, then dared to throw a glass of water in your face and question if you were awake enough.
"I am sure he chose cold water on purpose. It was definitely refrigerated!" You hit your palm against the table, feeling frustrated. Then you retrieved it cause it hurt and started rubbing it while looking at it with a painful expression.
That son of a bitc- wait, his mom was actually nice...no, that was not his real mom tho, the real one abandoned him as a baby. SON OF A BITCH IT IS!
You thought as you held your hand in pain, being frustrated at everything and everyone. The whole day has passed like this for you, feeling fed up. Wanting to disappear but not knowing how and roaming around the mansion like a ghost, looking at everything till you got bored.
"He is starving me on top of everything else. Like how is my mind supposed to find solutions when there's nothing in this house to eat!" You kicked your feet around, scrambling some papers that were in the way, then you turned to look at the piles of thrown papers around you.
"How the heck am I supposed to fix this! Writing clearly doesn't work!" You yelled in the air, then you just lay on the floor and swirled and turned around while whining. You stood back up after a few minutes, throwing around some papers that were in your reach.
It was not something you hadn't guessed, but you had tried writing anyway just to test it, but clearly it brought no changes. However, as you were doing that, you ended up trying to put everything to prespective and make a layout of the characters, which you had taped on the couch, using it as a board to look at.
"Okay, let's calm down, let's see this through." You encouraged yourself as you turned around to look at the papers with the names of each character, like a detective at that trying to solve a crime by looking at the board that connects the evidence.
"Taehyung is the Taehyung from the beginning, meaning he is still going after Jimin's life and trying to make him feel pain. "You pointed at the paper with his name, and grabbed the notebook again, noting the important problems.
"He is bitter from betrayal...tries to steal whatever women he suspects Jimin is involved with...Oh heck no! I need to make sure he never sees me with Jimin." You make a mental note, as you imagine how that could go if he were to misunderstand that.
"Now, Y/N." You point with your pen to the paper with your own name and purse your lips. "What the heck do I do with her?" You throw your head back in frustration, sighing loudly, for she was an introvert; getting her involved with Professor Park was not gonna be easy.
"I have to target Sira first; she is the only one who could get her involved in anything." You light up at the thought and turn your sparkling eyes on the paper with her name.
"What the heck have you done to my living room?" Jimin's voice, which boomed suddenly behind you, made your enthusiasm disappear for a second as you turned to look at him.
"Please tell me that the bags you are carrying have food in them." You stood up instantly, notebook still at hand, and he rolled his eyes at you for not recognising that they clearly had brand logos on them.
"I brought you clothes. You can't get out of here in your waitress uniform." He replied as he walked over and left the bags near the staircase.
"Are you a pig? What is this mess that you have made?" He looked at the papers that were covering the floor, his expression growing visibly disturbed by the state.
"Pigs eat three times a day at least! So I am clearly not a pig! I can't eat clothes!" You snapped at him as you threw the notebook above your head, and it landed behind you on the couch.
"Watch your tone!" He warned you, and you pursed your lips quickly and straightened your posture. "Why didn't you cook something?"
"I didn't find any food anywhere. The fridge was empty." You explained, and he walked right over to the fridge and opened it, bringing to your view shelves full of food.
"What the heck?"You rushed over to see for yourself, and he just laughed at you and shook his head, realizing that you hadn't known how to open the fridge properly.
"It has two clicks. If you open the door with one push, it opens the first layer that has only the drinks; then if you push the handle in deeply properly, the door opens to the actual fridge." He showcased it, showing you how now the door was very thick, cause the compartment with the drinks was the moving compartment.
"Why the heck did you buy a complicated fridge? Was this always like this? Can't you rich people just buy normal stuff?" You argued as you were observing the door in amusement, clicking on the handle, and leaving a phoneme of awe as now the drinks compartment opened also, and it made it look like a book with pages you could flip through.
"Get back and fix the mess you made, then go try on the clothes and see if they fit you. I will make you something to eat in the meantime." He offered as he slammed the fridge closed, and you looked at him with wide eyes.
"You are being nice?... That's suspicious." You narrowed your eyes at him, and he stared back at you with a raised eyebrow.
"I am not saying that you aren't capable of kindness...I was just...wondering"
"You didn't know how to open the fridge, so clearly you won't know how to use this stove either. I am just saving my kitchen supplies from the hands of someone that will damage them." He deadpunned, and you stared at him for a moment before nodding, for it made perfect sense, then turned around to gather the papers from the floor.
"Your apartment ain't as fancy as this place, right? I don't remember Y/N saying anything about it ."
"Who?"
"Y/N...You know...The girl that has my name, that I wrote about." You explained, but the more you did, the more his face morphed in confusion.
"Don't give me that look! You know who I am talking about! The love of your life!" You raised your voice at him.
"Y/N was her name?" He uttered, making you look at him, lowkey terrified.
"Since you undid everything, all I remember of her is my feelings for her and the moments we passed together. But her face is a blur and her name just wasn't coming to me." Jimin held his head as his face morphed into a painful expression, trying once more to bring the image of the woman he loved into his mind but failing. From the moment everything had returned to how it was for him, all that he lived and all you had written about had started feeling more and more like a distant dream each day; that's why he had grown so desperate. Afraid a day may come that he too will become like the rest and lose all memory of what had happened.
"Okay, I understand, this is serious...But now that you know the name, you will know who to approach." You encouraged him as you walked closer to him. "I plan on getting close to Sira since she is more social and through her to reach this Y/N, then I can find a way to make you two meet." You uttered some of your thoughts that were mostly on the air still and had no specific plans on how to do all that.
His face seemed puzzled again as he looked at you, and you hurried to clarify yourself. "Oh, oh, Sira is one of your students too. In case you have forgotten her face too, it's okay. We can check the names and-"
"I know, Miss Sira. I see her in my classes almost every day. I know the faces of all of my students and their names. But Y/N isn't one of them." His reply got you looking at him as if he had said the most absurd thing ever.
"Y/N's is the only face that has faded, because I kept seeing the others every day again. She was supposed to have been a student like the others, but she wasn't anywhere. I would have approached her myself while I still recalled her if she was around. But she isn't." He explained, and you gulped down with difficulty. "That's why I was so desperate to talk to you about it. You are the only one that can bring her back to me."
Jimin came close and placed his hands over your shoulders, eyes piercing into yours as his expression softened. "She truly was the love of my life, and I want to be with her. The fact that I can't remember her face hurts me. It feels like I am betraying her...but you are the only one I can trust to remember it all and bring it all back to me. " You stood there staring at him, eyes wide and heartbeat echoing loudly in your ears, realizing that there clearly existed a bigger problem than Taehyung.
And that was finding his Y/N. For if she wasn't attending this university, then that meant that she might also not be associated with Sira, and if that was the case, how the heck were you supposed to find the character you designed after yourself, in this vast world?
