Y A S M I N
I kept chanting hasbinallahu wa ni'imal wakeel. I know by now my face is all over the news. I heard the sound of my phone which had been continuously ringing for the past 5 minutes but knowing exactly what the call is about, I decided not to pick.
What should I do?
I know Mr. Marwan must be cursing at me right now.
It is not entirely my fault.
My phone rang again for the 6th time, I let out a small hiss. Mom's name flashed across the screen. I held the phone tightly my heart beating fast.
"Assalamu Alaikum mo-" before I could finish my greetings she caught me off.
"Yasmin what I'm I seeing on the news,"
"Is that what I sent you there to do."
"Mom-"
"I'm really disappointed in you, this is not how I brought you up" before I could utter another word the line went dead.
I felt my throat tightening up. My body became weak, I slouched down on the floor not believing my ears.
I'm disappointed in you.
This is not how I brought you up.
For the first time in a while, I felt weak, a sob escapes my lips which I didn't try to stop. I cried my heart out to the extent that I couldn't feel the tears again, I just sat there staring into space.
This is not what I intend to happen.
It's all my fault I shouldn't have agreed to work for him knowing very well how risky it is.
Mom's word had been constantly ringing in my head. I reach for my phone which had been lying on the floor ever since I spoke to mom. I dialed Marwan's number tapping my foot rapidly on the floor.
Please pick Marwan.
The line went silent with no answer, I tried again still the Same thing. I decided to message him.
Assalamu Alaikum,
Please call me ASAP if you see my missed call. We need to talk.
I slouched down on the floor holding my head with both hands.
"You know that crying will not solve the problem right?" I heard my aunt's voice. I didn't even realized I was crying again.
"Aunt..." The words caught up in my throat when another sob escape my lips. She sat on the bed beside me.
"Shh... It's okay I want you to stop crying and explain everything to me." She said in a low voice.
"Aunt... Mom-" I tried saying in a shaky voice. I told her everything from how I first met Marwan and Amir too, and the day I brought amir to the house and how I started working for him.
"I'm so sorry Aunt, I should've told you everything from the very first time." She kept silent for a while just listening to my sob before she spoke again.
"I know that you're just trying to help the little boy, but you should've thought about how your life will be if people find out about you. Marwan is a powerful man, and now this. People will try to find out about you they won't bother about him, you will be the main target. I'm not saying its all your fault, he's also to be blamed, he clearly knows what will happen if you're caught with him but he still made you work for him. I hope he will be a gentleman and solve this problem before the news gets more viral. And as for your Mom I will try talking to her, I know she's just angry, go and wash your face, you look pale" she said patting me on the back before leaving the room.

Hours have passed without hearing anything from Marwan, I'm starting to get impatient we need to get this done before things become worst again. Putting on my jacket, I wore my hijab and a face mask to cover my face to avoid getting noticed.
"Where are you going?" Aunt asked me seeing me wrapped up.
"I'm going to Mr. Marwan house, he's not answering my calls and I don't want this to get more worse" I ushered back while wearing my shoes.
"Just be careful Yasmin," she said in a worried tone.
"Insha Allah, I will be back"
I tried so hard to cover my face without getting noticed, though the taxi man had been looking at me through the mirror. My mouth hung low by the number of reporters I saw in front of Marwan's house.
Ya ilahi!
Why are they a lot of reporters?
Don't be stupid Yasmin, of course, there would be a lot of reporters since they're looking for gossip on top of that Marwan is not an ordinary man.
What do I do now?
I tried calling Marwan again, hoping he will pick this time. I hope he's at home, still the same thing no answer. I decided to text him.
I'm in front of your house right now, there are reporters outside.
After some minutes when I'm about to lose it, my phone vibrates indicating a message.
Go to the back of the building, you will see a door, wait there someone will come and get you.
Wait did he just say at the back of the building?
A door.
Ya Allah, I hate it when I have to hide, it's not that I did something bad, but if by mistake the reporters caught me, things will get worse, it was hard for me to get there without being noticed. Just as he said I saw the door, a small one, you won't even know there is a door until you look closely.
I'm there already. I texted him. After like 2minute, the door flung open revealing a young man dressed in a black suit wearing black glasses, and what I assumed as a gun on his left hand, I moved back a little. He turned around leaving the door open. I quickly follow behind him assessing the surrounding, it feels like I'm on another house, this doesn't look like his house, Marwan living room came in view, my mouth hung open in surprise but I quickly mask it up seeing the Man itself sitting on one of the couches his hands folded, he face shows no any form of panic.
"Why didn't you pick my call, I called you like 4 times and I know you saw my missed call but being the arrogant one you are you choose to ignore my calls, I want you to explain to me how my face got up on the news." It's as if, I was talking to myself he didn't even move an inch.
"Hey Mr. Man, I'm talking to you or are deaf." I placed my hands on my hips, biting on my lips.
"Calm down young lady."
"Wait let me finish wi-" I trailed off hearing an unfamiliar voice. I saw an old man sitting one leg crossed on the other, sipping what I assumed is an orange juice.
Was he here all this while?
"Young lady I know the solution to your problem, I have a proposal for you." He said once again in his manly voice.
"Who are you?" I find myself asking.
"I'm Marwan's grandfather."
"So-" I started raising an eyebrow.
"Let me get straight to the point, I know what I'm about to say will be a surprise to you but I'm trying to save my Grandson reputation which will also save yours. So I Want you too to get married."
"Marriage!" We both said at the same time.
