3: Adjustments

Drishti

Still mad at my friend for planning it up I maintained a distance from them. I had already changed into a normal black track suit.

Yes, my mind finally got some sense that running away in Indian bridal wear wasn't a good idea.

Even if it was pretty

There was a car parked in the backyard which could carry five people. And we were six. Looking at the guy's faces I suggested we put the small one in the back trunk but don't know why they didn't like my idea.

"To ek yahan nahi reh skta kya?" Lavanya asked the men.

"Nahi. Hum jahan jate hain sath jate hain" same, me, Lavanya and Divya went everywhere together too. "Upar se jisse hum bhag rahe hain koi chota mota admi to hai nahi vo. Agar kuch gadbad hui to hum mein se ek phase ye nahi hoga"

"To ab?" Divya looked at the car and then the two boys.

My eyes wandered across the backyard and saw the one who brought me here standing under tree.

Their talks seemed boring and my suggestions weren't welcomed for some reason so I walked towards him to initiate a conversation.

"Hi!" I tried scaring him from behind which worked.

However it caused the thing he was holding in his hand to fall on the ground. A deep groan of dissatisfaction spread across his face as he looked at me. Wondering what it was I looked at the floor and found a cigarette lying on the ground.

Turning his face to a side he blowed the cigarette smoke from his mouth and used his hand to send it to the other side.

"Kya?" He looked at me with his face holding no expressions of anger like a few seconds ago.

"Cigarette pina achi bat nahi"

"To tum ye kehne ai ho?"

"Nahi" shrugging my shoulders I leaned on the tree in front of him and held the fingers of my hand in the other hand "unki batein sun sunke mein bore ho gai thi. Tumhe yaha dekha to socha tumhare pas aa jau"

"Par mujhe bat nahi krni"

"Tumhe pata hai tum ache se bat kr skte ho mujhse? Chalo chodo, koi nahi. Maf kia tumhe. Mera dil bht bara hai" he suppressed the sudden laugh he had but the cheeky smile formed its way to his face. "Vaise I'm Drishti. Aur tum?"

Offering my hand for a friendly handshake, I smiled at him to ensure my intentions were of genuinely being friends with him.

He seemed unwilling to talk to me but upon requesting he shook his hand with me and said "Rakshit"

"Rakshit ?"

"Rakshit Shergill"

"Oo! Kya nam hai" I smiled once again cuz why not. Your smile is the best way if you wanted to show someone you were comfortable with them.

That genuine smile though.

Nowadays every smile got double standards and some fake one could not be even identified so nothing could be said.

"Vaise tum kya kam krte ho?"

He looked at me from head to toe before closing his eyes and opening then slowly "Filhal to dulhan bhaga raha hu kisi ki"

"Ooh! Nice job" I smiled. "Vaise kitne paise mil rahe hain tumhe?"

For a few moments he looked at me as if I was being a dummy asking that question but the look of seriousness on my face said it all.

"50 Lakh"

"50 Lakh!" I yelled.

This however, ladies and gentlemen, did not gain Divya or Lavanya's attention. Instead a shoe was thrown on my head by my girls and one of the guys yelled at me to be quiet.

50 Lakhs

I am gonna be honest with you. I would never pay a single penny for me yet these two morons were paying 50 Lakhs for me.

"Mein itni kimti hun?" I sighed, keeping a hand on my heart and thanking God for giving me such lovely friends.

"Vo admi zyada khatarnak hai" he sighed.

My self respect thus shattering into pieces.

"Ok" Now I was the person who can't stay quiet for much long. Thus I decided to poke him with my fingers.

As my fingers dug into his shoulders to start a conversation, he simply ignored it to take out another cigar from his pocket and light it in front of my eyes. Inhaling a deep puff of the smoke, he blew it out as if it was something to be proud of.

Typical smoker habits

Being unknown to the man I could not just tell him to stop doing it because I disliked it so I took the other way of explaining him the ills of smoking to which he turned a deaf ear.

Nothing seemed to alter his thinking whilst I kept explaining how hazardous active and passive smoking could be.

"Thats it!" One of the two men yelled as they reached Rakshit and started pulling him away with them. "The fucking man whose bride she is Arjun Kapoor"

"She is Arjun Kapoor's bride?" Said Rakshit, before a look of fear appeared on his face that he covered at the very moment. "They said the man is too dangerous. Didn't say he was the fucking Arjun Kapoor himself"

"Cause you would be scared faggots! Same as now" explaines Divya, rather politely.

"When they told us we were ready but thats not worth 50 Lakhs. We demandes 1 entire crore. Tumhe nai lgta ye sahi hai Rakshit?" From the conversation that I was kicked out of before, I knew this man was called Vicky and the other one- Romi.

"1 crore kis khushi mein? Tum apni bhua ki shadi mein ae ho kya?" Yelled Lavanya.

"Aisa to nahi ki tumhare pas itne paise nahi hai" We have, but that account with money is still to be mine when I turn-

What was the age again?

"Hamari bat 50 Lakh pe hui thi!"

"Are you bargaining on me?" I cried "mein sirf 50 Lakh ki hi hun?" Wobbling my bottom lip, I went and held onto Rakshit's arm "Le jao mujhe mere dulhe ke pas. Mujhe nahi rehna yaha"

"Drishti-"

"Shut up!"

"Drishti-"

"Meine kaha shut up"

"Drish-"

"Chup!" I yelled.

Thus another shoe falls on my head.

"Sorry" I mumbled before Lavanya started talking.

"70 Lakh" they bargained. But Rakshit was quiet.

"95"

"75"

"90 se kam nahi. Hume divide krne mein mushkil hogi. Ek ko sirf 30 lakh milenge. Kabhi socha hai ki hum ek ladki ke bhi 50 mang skte the, lekin humne tum dono ko free mein nikalne ka socha"

Romi didn't know Divya.

Maybe thats why he pushed her head with his forefinger.

Divya does not like people teasing her.

"Divya please" Lavanya held her arm before she created any nuisance.

"Hah, ok fine. 90 Lakh mein done. Par hume safely bahr pahucaho"

As the four were about to shake hands, Rakshit stepped between them. Thus intimidating them all by his prescence.

"Wait a minute" he spoke. Calmly "Ek shart hai"

"Kya?" I was the first to reply that made him look at me for a few moments before starting to present his demands.

"Kam risky hai so hum tum logon ke sath mein US chalenge aur sab theek hone pe tum logon ke sath hi vapis aenge. Vahan ka kharcha tumhe hi utahan hoga. Ab bolo, manzoor hai?"

Divya and Lavanya looked at each other and then me. Giving them a tight lipped smile I fidled with my fingers and blew them a kiss. "I love you"

They sighed.

"Ok fine!"

"Yesss!"

Third shoe of the day
