Chapter 32
Sally listened intently as the man in colors, named Steve, explained the situation they encountered her son and all Sally could think about was how she was going to wring Poseidon dry on his throne.
How come no one told her about this? It's been just over a decade and she knew nothing about what has happened to her son. Sure a few months or even one or two years without hearing something she could consider normal due to Percy's past with all of the wars going on and everything, but to have the first people asking or even saying anything about his death or continued life to be businessmen and a cosplayer she didn't know what to think.
"So you're saying that my son, my Percy just appeared on the top of the empire state building and what...blasted you off the roof?" Sally asked and Tony shook his head.
"No he appeared on the building and fought one of our team-members before fleeing the scene." He said and Sally just sighed. None of this was helping her understand what was happening and she was starting to wonder whether she would just go up to Olympus herself and demand what happened. Then again there was the problem of getting past the elevator, so maybe she could just yell at the sea and get Poseidon to appear that way?
"Anyways we wanted to come over and ask if you knew anything about his whereabouts but since you don't we'll take our leave" Steve said getting up and heading out the door while the others followed. Tony paused at the door and looked back at Sally before pulling out a card of paper and putting it on the small shelf next to the entrance-way.
"If you hear anything about his please call." He said, "We need to have a talk with him."
Sally waited until they were out of the door and then she looked out the window and ten minutes later a jet turned visible and took off, "No. I will talk to him myself." Sally then looked at the water for a second before realizing something and going over to her purse. She opened it and grabbed a large golden coin from a hidden pocket before whispering something and flicking it into the air. Since the cabin was enchanted to keep out any unwanted visitors Sally was able to use Drachmas like this without needing a fountain or rainbow to use with it.
"Get Poseidon for me please" she said and the portal shimmered in the air for a moment before spreading out a little at the top and bottom to form an oval as the image of a man sitting in a chair cleared on it's surface. "Poseidon get your ass over here." Was all she said before cutting through the portal with a hand. The Drachma used to form the portal was on the floor in-front of her and soon back in it's place.
A moment later there was a flash outside and a knock on the door. Sally went over and opened to door to see the husk of a sea god. He was very thin now and his hair was turning grey and white. He was looking at his feet in shame and Sally lent on the doorway and sharply growled:
"Explain"
-------------------------------------
The five avengers gathered around a single platform in the back of the hovercraft. They were about five miles from the little cabin by the water-front just in case this mysterious visitor was someone more prone to violence than others, but it seems that it was the mother they should've been worried about.
The talk went on for about half hour with Sally scolding this new figure, whom was identified as Poseidon, and she seemed to be digging his grave for him so that she might bury him alive in it. Her tirade of questions and accusations were seemingly endless and it astounded the five as to how fear-inducing such a nice woman could be when angry.
Apparently Percy has been missing before and when that happened it was for a few months, unlike this time where it's been over a decade with no information as to how or where he was. Poseidon was revealed to be Percy's biological father, and apparently the god of the sea, but for some reason he disowned Percy and along with the other god's support--with the exception of some minor gods and goddesses as well as a few of the other 'Olympians'--they cast him into what seemed to be their version of hell.
And that was also why he looked the way he did according to Tony, as they had cursed him into becoming a Greek monster known as a werewolf, but apparently he was stronger than the last one...whom wasn't named, and since he had the blessings of all the gods in order to make him immortal Percy didn't have the curse of turning into a wolf during a full moon.
There also seemed to be a sort of time dilation between their version of hell and the 'mortal world' where time was estimated to pass by ten times faster there than it did for humans and those on Earth. So that explained why Percy was so proficient with his weapons, and why he was able to escape so easily, but the next thing arose some concerns regarding the cage that had been constructed.
Apparently normal metal didn't effect supernatural beings...
Tony and Bruce both hoped that the metal in consideration having been mixed with different types of unknown and known origin helped patch that issue, but it still weighed on both of their minds as the verbal scolding came to an end. Sally threw Poseidon out of her house with the warning to never come back until he's fixed the mess he caused and the place was quiet for a while. Natasha ended the transmission and the team was surrounded by silence and the low humming of the engines.
"Tony. Bruce. Are you sure that whatever it is you built will be able to contain such a threat?" She looked at the two geniuses with considerable scrutiny and while Bruce looked unsettled with her gaze, Tony didn't look bothered at all and acted like his normal stuck up self.
"Of course it'll hold him, we built it after all." He said tapping a pen in the table. "It should even be able to hold The Hulk for a while if necessary."
"Seriously" Banner said, "Does everything have to compare to that guy when we are designing an object for containment?" Everyone looked at him pointedly and Clint pointed it out.
"Have you met anyone that can compare to The Hulk in strength as of late Bruce?" He said and Bruce looked at Clint for a moment before giving in and sighing.
"Okay fine leave it to me to unwillingly design the very thing that could potentially lead to our demise." He said before walking off to a seat on the lower deck. There was a moment of partial confusion and partial amusement before everyone went to their positions: Clint piloting and Natasha in the co-pilot's seat; Tony, Steve, and Bruce on the lower deck strapped in and waiting in awkward silence.
When they got back to 'The Giant Flying Base Mark II', as Tony named it, they all disembarked to their places on the ship and did their own things...after debriefing Fury as to what they did and how it went of course. After the whole thing with Ultron and the city-turned-meteor Tony wasn't allowed to augment any AI systems other than do some basic improvements and systems updates. Vision and Wanda were rarely seen around as she was busy showing the android the world, and the only reason she'd been on that roof to meet Percy was because she and Vision were in New York to explore it for a few days...the places that they didn't know about anyways.
Monster sightings all over the world were getting more and more frequent...along with sighting of groups of kids walking around with weapons. Mainly small things like knives, swords, and the occasional spear, but it was still enough to cause people to panic and thing that the world was ending. There were riots in Canada the northern parts of America and parts of Central and South America, all with different sightings of monsters and mythological creatures: from big foot to the chubacabra and other things like so.
The team was stuck. They all were thinking about different things but they all had the same common factor. Where was Percy? He hadn't been seen again since that time Tony tried to take him on alone, and it seemed that he had no other family than Sally, who didn't know where he was. Not to mention his father was supposedly an actual god of the Greek world and that he's been in a few wars that none of them had the slightest clue of hearing about.
Natasha and Clint were in a separate room together looking at a board of known places, people, and things related to him. Bruce was in the lab studying a few things related to recent sightings, and Tony was in his office, of sorts, spinning around in a chair and throwing a ball up and down while he thought about what he'd heard. And Steve was in the gym thinking about home, and what Peggy must've felt when he didn't come home...like Percy hadn't.
Suddenly there was an alarm sounded throughout the base and everyone stopped what they were doing and headed to the main bridge, where Fury and a room full of people and instruments were preparing for something.
"What's happening?" Natasha asked as she got to the scene along with the rest of the team and Fury turned to them, to the right of course, and explained the situation.
"A large ship has breached the upper atmosphere and it currently on a collision course with central New York." He said and a screen of a burning space-ship was shown to be falling towards the planet. "We are currently trying to make contact but if it does not change course we will be forced to shoot it down." Commander Maria Hill approached from Fury's left side and handed Fury a file, and he turned to look at it and then her before opening it as she walked away.
"It seems that there are similar things happening all over the world. Moscow has a giant cruiser over it. Paris and Rome are both under siege, and there seems to be a reoccurring bomb exploding in the center of Beijing..." Fury said closing the folder again even though there seemed to be much more unsaid in it by how thick the thing was.
"Okay then were are we going first?" Clint asked and Fury looked at him for a second before nodding.
"You and Natasha will be going to Paris and hopefully you can deal with the problem quickly and get over to Rome. Bruce is staying here, we'll need his help examining whatever come in...or if a worse threat appears, Tony is going to Russia to take care of that Cruiser, and Mr. Rogers is going to the ground here to hopefully calm the public." Fury said and three of the two headed out of the room while Steve and Bruce walked towards the railing. "Tony on your way over why don't you get up to that craft and try to make contact before we're forced to shoot it down."
"I hope this isn't like the Chitauri incident?" Steve said and Bruce scoffed.
"No. This will be worse." He said watching the screen and the three fell into silence.
Hi peoples. I am worry for my crappy updates and I feel like I am rushing this ending a bit more than needed but I hope I cleared everything op with Sally's involvement, or lack thereof recently. I'm not going to ask about the Patreon thing anymore. I need to figure out what to do with my life and right now I am sucking at doing that currently...I have this story that i believe would be REALLY GOOD, with multiple Arcs and everything, but I have no idea how to actually go about writing it.
I know that most stories aren't actually planned before hand and that having past context and lore chapters as well as info-dumps helps storylines and getting the whole thing in motion, but I am really bad at sticking to one thing over another and I have a hard time keeping to consistency unless I've been doing something for a Long while...I'm assuming that it might be because I probably have ADD but I'm not sure either as I don't actually have a diagnosis and only 9/10's of the symptoms...of which many could be in relation to stress.
Anyways I hope that you enjoyed this chapter and I am telling you now that while it will be spotty and I will still be as inconsistent as ever I am going to try something new and try to write for at least a half hour to an hour each day on any of the more popular books I have. I also have to find another job since the seasonal one I have is ending soon so that's a hassle I don't like dealing with but needs to be done.
See you all next time!!
