Destiny Rules

Stevie awoke to Christine gently shaking her, "Love, wake up," whispering a little louder. One realizing what was happening, Stevie shot up and started demanding answers. "Stevie, let me speak. It took me a good while to reach him, but he is on his way and wanted you to be in bed sleeping by the time he got home," Chris smiled and helped her to her feet. "Chris you know I won't be able to sleep now! What else did he say," Stevie asked, wondering if he let on why he was away. "Just that he would talk more in the morning," sighing, Stevie nodded and headed towards the stairs to wait on her husband. "I'll stay until he gets here, you try to get some sleep," Christine called, sitting down on the couch until Stevie was out of sight, then sneaking into the kitchen to treat her self to another glass of wine.

Hearing the door open and close, Christine lifted her head from the couch and looked towards the door, seeing Lindsey trying to sneak into the house quietly.

"Lindsey, what took you so long? It's going on three in the morning," scolding as she tried to keep her voice down.

"I just stopped to get a few things," gesturing to the bag in his hand. "Is Stevie sleeping?"

"Yes, but listen Buckingham, you have no clue the ideas you have put into her mind, so I want you to think about nothing but treating her like a Queen so she can get those disgusting images out of her head," pointing her finger at him.

"I understand," he nodded

After seeing Chris out safely, Lindsey made his way to their bedroom, truly worried about what state Stevie may be in.

Slipping off his shoes, shirt, and jacket, he crawled under the blanket and pulled her to him, immediately waking her as she clung to him and cried.

"I'm so sorry," Stevie sobbed into his neck. "No baby, no. I'm the one that was in the wrong," caressing the back of her head and shedding a few tears himself. "I didn't mean to say those things to you, I don't want you to leave me," she continued to cry, soaking his shirt. "I won't, I won't. I promise," lifting her shirt over her head as skin-to-skin contact always worked to calm her down quickly when she got too overwhelmed in emotion.

He could feel the tension being drained from her body as she held him tightly against her. Rubbing her back he spoke again, "I love you, I love our children. I don't want to lose you either, but how will this child fit into the album-we already have plans and people putting this into action..."

"We'll make it work, you know we will. This doesn't have to be that big of a deal though, I mean- it's our baby, we can't just give this up. It might not have been planned but that doesn't mean that they aren't loved," peering up at him through her lashes. In return, Lindsey kissed her forehead, letting his lips linger there for a few second. "I'm sorry for how I acted, Steph. I was so scared when Chris called me and told me that you weren't dealing with this well. I started thinking about our babies and I know I can love this one just the same," Lindsey smiled and gave her lips a kiss. This was the man she loved, not the asshole he was earlier. This was her Linds.

"I love you, Lindsey," stifling a yawn and snuggling into him. He chuckled, if she got any closer she'd be pretty much underneath him.

"I love you too, Angel."

In the morning Stevie was actually awake before Lindsey; noticing that they had actually stayed in the same position all night. She reached out to touch his face, trailing her hand down to rub his chest, "Lindsey," she whispered. He woke up halfway in a groggy haze. "Uh huh?.."

"Come on, I wanna watch the sun rise," shaking his shoulder as if she were a little girl waking her parent. Stevie crawled out of bed and walked over to the window, not acknowledging that she didn't have a shirt on. He groaned only wanting sleep. He opened his eyes slowly as he got up. "It's really early...you know you don't have a top on right?" He said as he laughed slightly. "You've seen my boobs before, Lindsey," she replied, chuckling. Stevie took his hand and pulled him to her back, wrapping his arms around her. Stevie smirked "Something tell me that you don't mine though." He leaned into her and kissed her cheek. "Not at all"

Their attention focused back on the sun rise outside of their bedroom window, "It's so beautiful."

"Eh, not really." She elbowed him. "What? Look what I have to compare it to!" She blushed at his words.  "You're so corny Mr. Buckingham," jokingly elbowing him. "And you love it." He said coyly. "Just pay attention to the sun rise," she turned her head back towards it, though it was almost over now. They stood in silence for awhile. Until the topic of yesterday loomed back into the room. "So, we're okay right?" She asked nervously. "We can make it work right?"

"Yea, Angel, I think we can," he softly smiled down at her.

"I do too. I just needed..to hear it straight from you, ya know? I love you so much and this beautiful gift you helped me create."

"You really should go talk to the kids by the way, they're pretty upset with this whole thing," Stevie added

He sighed. "You're right.. I'm such an idiot."
"True. But you always know how to fix your problems, your kids love you. You just need to talk to them it'll all be alright."

Lindsey nodded and gave her a chaste kiss. "I'll go talk to them now, let them know I'm home," Lindsey have her a squeeze and headed for the hallway. "Alright, I'll start on breakfast."
He nodded as he made his way out of their room and down the hall.

He stopped by Will's room first, carefully opening his door and seeing him buried under the mound of blankets Stevie had made sure he kept on his bed to keep him warm.

Lindsey sat on the edge of the bed and smoothed his brown curls away from his face. The spitting image of his father.

"Will, wake up buddy," Lindsey rubbed his arm.

He barely woke up. "Dad?"

"Yea, hey, I wanted to apologize for last night,"

"Where did you go? Mama was really upset, I was worried."

"I went out for a little while, I got her something, but you'll see later. I'm so sorry bud, I promise you that I won't leave mama upset like that again,"

Will looked thoughtfully at his blanket while he rubbed his eyes tiredly. "Where's mommy now?"
"Making breakfast."
"Pancakes??" He was suddenly wide awake. Lindsey just shrugged. "Maybe, you gonna go check?" Will nodded excitedly and ran downstairs leaving Lindsey chuckling to himself.

Next...Leelee, it'd be harder to explain to her because she was just too young to fully understand.

"Lee....." He opened her bedroom door to find her already up and playing with her dolls in her bed.
"Daddy??"

"Hey sweet girl," Lindsey sat on the end of her bed and picked up one of her horses. "Did you sleep well last night?"

"Yeah...I guess so. No bad dreams. But why weren't you here to tuck me in?"

"I had to go get something for mommy, I felt bad about yesterday,"

"Oh okay. What'd you get her?" She asked excitedly. "You'll see...so, we good here?" He asked

"Yeah. Do I smell pancakes?"

He laughed. "Probably."
"Yay!" She started to jump out of bed. "Wait Leelee, don't tell mama bout the surprise okay?"
"Okay!" And after that she was running towards the kitchen just like her brother. Lindsey laughed and then made his way out and into the hallway.

He could hear Stevie singing to his little ones in the kitchen, the sound warming his heart. Not being able to contain his excitement of witnessing the sight!

"Stevie why don't you sit down and I'll put the finish the food."

"Well aren't you my hero this morning," she smiled, kissing him on the lips, causing the little ones to giggle at the sight.

"I'd like to think I am." They all laughed. He finished making their breakfast and sat down at the table with them.

"I can't remember the last time we had breakfast as a family," Stevie smiled, bouncing Lee in her lap as Will tucked into his food.

"Yeah it's been way too long" Lindsey agreed as they ate. A few moments later the kids got full and restless and they ran off to their play room. "They're just like us, can't stay still for too long," She smiled. "Not us. You. As you may remember before Will got here I had no trouble staying in the same spot on the couch for hours." Stevie roles her eyes. " Okay, I'll admit I was like that too up until the seventh or eighth month of my pregnancy and then I barely even moved for the rest of it." He laughed and then stood up as Stevie cleared the table and put the dishes into the sink, "Maybe we can have a game night tonight? I mean if you're up for it?"

"That sounds great!" She said enthusiastically as she wrapped her arms around his middle. "Great! And then ice cream?" Lindsey rested his chin on top of her heads. "Sure."

He kissed her head and started on the dishes "You don't have to do that." She told him motioning towards the dishes. "We won't have to do it later," he smiled and shrugged, reminding her of the young Lindsey that was sitting on the floor waiting for her to return home from her job at the restaurant. She nodded then reached up to kiss his cheek. "I'll be right back, I'm gonna check on the kids."

"Tell them to start getting their bathing suits on, we'll spend some time in the pool."

"Well you're just up for anything today aren't you." She said teasingly as she went out of the kitchen. "You know it!" He called out after her.

The little ones were contently playing monster trucks and barbies when Stevie entered their play room. Leelee made Will give one of her dolls a ride; he'd always been a softy for his little sister. Stevie smiled and sat down on the floor beside them.

"Mommy play with us!" Lee handed her a Barbie. "Alright Lee, but we gotta include Will." Lee-lee smiled and attempted to hand her brother a Barbie to which he scrunched up his face and pushed it away. "Mama, Will won't take the Barbie!" Stevie stifled a laugh, "That's fine sweetie-he can just drive them around. You wanna do that for us honey?" She said then asked Will.

"Yea! I can do that," Will let Leelee load them into the truck before he shoved the truck forward which hit the wall, causing the dolls to fall out. "Will!" Leelee yelled at him. He laughed. "Look mommy! They crashed!" Stevie laughed then turned her attention to Lee-Lee. "Oh honey, he's only playing." She crossed her arms.
"He's rude!" She pouted.
"Awww, Will apologize to Lee please." Will shook his head. "Mama! I didn't do nothing!" She gave him her famous 'mama look' and he sat down beside of her defeated. "Fine," he looked up at Lee-Lee. "I'm sorry sissy" Lee kept her lips pouted then finally softened at Stevie's waiting glance. "It's okay....wanna watch the tv?" Will shrugged, "Alright. Mama, we're gonna go watch tv upstairs okay." They both stood up. "Alright babies. Be good to each other." Lindsey snuck up behind her, "are they ready to swim?" He asked. "Well they just went up to watch tv but I bet if you told them they could swim they'd be ready before us!" They both laughed. "But you were supposed to tell them," he fake pouted. "Well they were playing-I got caught up in it-you know how it is." He smiled and hugged her around her middle. "Yea, I know," kissing the side of her head and gradually moving his hand to her stomach. "I'm sorry, Steph."

She bit her lip. "It's okay." She placed her hand over his. "No it's not, I couldn't have acted more like the asshole I used to be, I can't seem to forgive myself for saying and suggesting those things to you," Lindsey replied, sighing and closing his eyes. "Well please do. I've forgiven you. I'm still a little hurt but I love you and I've forgiven you." He hid his face in the crook of her neck and hugged her closer. "I do love this baby, Stephanie." He placed his other hand on her hip and kissed the crook of her neck. She smiled and a few tears rolled off her face and onto his shirt. "Thank you. I needed to hear that. Just..thank you." They hugged each other as tight as physically possible. "I'm gonna be there-for you-for them. I promise." She turned her head to kiss his face. "WE love you."

"Come on, let's lay on the couch, we don't have to swim," Lindsey led her into the living room. The kids would be occupied at least until lunch time so that gave Lindsey some time to spend with Stevie. "Sounds good."

Lindsey laid her beside him and stroked her hair back from her face. "Have you made a doctors appointment yet?"

"Not yet..all I could think about when I found out was telling you... I hadn't really thought too much about it. I'll call the office later."

He nodded "How long have you known?"

"I found out yesterday.. I mean I had a suspicion about a week ago but I figured it wasn't even possible..then I got curious yesterday morning and went out and got a test.. You know the rest." She laughed a little. "Actually, I'm not even sure how far along I am."

"Baby, this is so exciting! I mean-we get to experience all of this together! I've never gone to the first appointment before." Linder beamed. She smiled, happy with how excited he was. "I know! I promise you I'll schedule one first thing tomorrow morning!"

"I'll be sure to wake you up," he joked, knowing that she liked her sleep. "Ha.ha. Very funny.." They both giggled. "Hey! 'I Can't Wait'!" He said quoting her. She elbowed him gently. "Well Mr. Buckingham I could let you 'Go Insane' with the kids for the rest of the afternoon," Stevie replied. He laughed. "No thank you Mrs.Buckingham. I think I'll just lay here with my lovely wife." She grinned. "Well if that's what you wish to continue doing you may want to shut up." He laughed. "Yes ma'am."

She reached up and kissed his nose, face to face and staring into each other's eyes. "I could lay here forever."

"Me too"

She noticed that his eyes were starting to get heavy, probably from the stress and lack of sleep the night before. "Hey how bout you take a nap." Stevie suggested. He laughed slightly. "You're the one who should be taking a nap."
"Yeah but YOU'RE the one who got like three hours of sleep last night. I'll keep an eye on the kids, you just rest." Bopping him on the nose with her finger.

"Thank you baby," he kissed her nose and snuggled into her chest and neck like one of the kids would. She just wrapped her arms around him and held him close, softly brushing through his curls. "No problem, get some rest honey. Just get some rest."

Stevie felt him relax in her arms and could feel Lindsey's breath even out against her neck. He was the basically biggest child she was taking care of. She smiled to herself, still not quite sure how he could have had a change of heart so quickly but very very thankful that he had. She also couldn't believe it actually. They were having a baby. Another one. Another baby. A baby. She was approaching her 50's and had two kids with one on the way, how's that for destiny? And the best part is that she got to do all of this with Lindsey. She was beyond happy. Destiny rules...
