Chapter Four
I look out my bedroom window the next morning into the dim sky after I'm ready for school. Cupping my head in my hands, I wait to see if Blake will walk down the street so I can walk with him and maybe learn a bit of telekinesis, which I'm very eager to learn.
By 8:00 am, he still hasn't come, and I have to leave now if I want to make it to school before the late bell. Sighing, I grab my bag and head down the stairs and out the door of my house onto the front sidewalk. The air has a slight chill, but I ignore it and walk on.
It's 8:07 by the time I enter the school, which leaves me with 3 minutes to put my things into my locker and get to class. I put in the 3 numbers to open my lock then yank it, but it doesn't open. This happens very often, and makes me want to hit my head against the locker door, which I have done before. The consequences of these actions was quite a lot of pain and a red spot on my forehead that turned into a bruise, which lasted close to a month.
'Now would be a great time for Blake's telekinesis,' I think, then proceed to spinning the dial of the lock swiftly around multiple times before attempting to open my locker again. Before I do, I try yanking the lock open with telekinesis, twisting my hands in odd ways and forcing it to unlock. After multiple attempts, I can't get it, and the lock sits there, unmoved. I sigh and twist the lock's dial accordingly, to which it opens with a click.
After putting my things away, it's 8:09. Hurriedly, I go to my first class of the day; literacy. Rushing into the class, I slide into my desk just as the bell rings. The class starts and the teacher walks through the rows handing back the papers we wrote yesterday. He drops the paper on my desk as I hang my bag on the back of the chair. A 96% is written in big, blue writing. I smile and put the paper in my bag.
As I sit in my desk, listening to the teacher, I think about Blake. As this lecture is quite boring, I think that maybe I can tune into him. Since he's not here, I'm not exactly sure how I can tap in, but I try anyway. I imagine him, his face with his sharp blue eyes and dark brown hair, then imagine what tuning into him would be like if he was sitting right in front of me. Suddenly, I can here the many thoughts of Blake. He blocks them though as soon as he can feel that I'm there.
'Good morning,' I think to him.
'Good morning? I'm at school, and therefore, it is not a good morning.' he thinks back.
I roll my eyes, but then remember that he can't see me.
'Well it's a good morning because you get to talk to me!' I think cheerfully. My head is starting to hurt from the long distance effort I'm putting into the conversation.
'Yes, that makes my morning so much better,' He tells me, then laughs. I smile, though my head is starting to hurt more.
'I have to go now, since this is hurting my head,' I think, 'Talk to you in math.'
'Ok. Goodbye, Stacy,' he says with understanding. That must happen to him when he taps into long distances too. As soon as he says this, I let go. I rub my head then turn my attention back to the lesson.

The class breezes by, and before I know it, I'm walking the busy hallway to math class. I sit in my usual spot, the desk in the middle of the room and gaze at the students coming through the door, looking for one in particular. I smile at Blake when he walks in the door. He comes and sits at the desk to the right of me.
'How was literacy class?' Blake asks, his presence in my head becoming a more familiar thing now.
'It was fine,' I pause for a second, 'how did you know I had literacy class first thing?' I ask puzzled as I continue to watch the door where students trickle in, mumbling that their day has only just begun and they still have more school to do.
'You told me, remember,' he tells me quickly. I try to remember our few conversations, then let it go as the teacher starts the class. He teaches a quick lesson before instructing us to do questions 1 through 20 in the textbooks, but I struggle to pay attention through all of it. I know that I can be talking to Blake, or out trying to practice telekinesis or one of the other cool powers Blake learned to do, but since math is my worst subject in terms of marks, I should focus and learn. By the time I'm done question 2 of 20 questions, I break and go into Blake's mind out of the pure state of boredom I'm in. I can just tap into one of the advanced, mathematician like teenagers in this class during the test if I get lost.
Blake's thinking about the current question he's on, but stops when he feels me present in his mind.
'Hey. What's up?' he starts the conversation.
I pretend to read the equations on my page. 'Nothing really. Just bored.' I complain. I notice that this time, there isn't a barrier around his thoughts as usual. I could probe his mind a bit but seeing as he tends to be a private person most of the time, I respect the trust he is displaying to me and not go deeper into his mind.
Blake lets out a loud sigh making some heads turn to him. He just rolls his eyes. 'Yeah, me too. How about this; after school, if you're not busy, I can teach you telekinesis,' he offers.
I nearly squeal aloud from excitement. 'I would love that!' I accept his offer with joy in my thoughts. He lets out a quiet chuckle from my happiness.
I let go of our connection and stare up at the clock. There's still 35 minutes of class left. Not an extremely long time, but still enough to make me dread that I have to wait so long to be done with math. I sigh but endure it, having the training session with Blake be my motivator to get through the textbook. I begin question 3 and start the countdown.
