I was sitting in the living room watching television with the twins when the front door bell rang.

"I'll get it" said Alex standing up and running out.

After a few minutes he came back with dad.

"How are my ducklings doing?" He said as Daniel jumped on him.

He picked Millie up in his arms after hugging Daniel. I stood up and walked towards him. He looked at me and smiled before embracing me in a big warm hug, the kind only fathers can give.

He sat on the couch the three kids surrounding him, telling him all the stories they have memorized just for him. I sat next to him, taking in my little family.

"How are you feeling?" He asked me as the kids got busy in the television again.

"I'm feeling a lot better, I think I can start going to school soon" I replied.

"That's really great-"

"Dad when are you taking us back home?" I cut in.

He paused for a second and then looked away.

"Eva this is your home too"

"No dad this is not my home, it does not have my room or the same view outside-"

"Eva I think its better you staying here with your mom, you need someone to take care of you all the time and I can't with my job" he said.

"But dad, I'm okay now, there is nothing wrong with me, I can take care of myself" I huffed.

He leaned forward and kissed me on my head.

"Just wait a little longer okay?"

I was in my room when the door burst open and Mason walked in.

"I have brought you last two days lectures and homework" he announced as he jumped on the bed.

"Thankyou Mason, I wouldn't know what I would do without you" I said.

"You'd probably fail" he replied sitting next to me.

"I really would"

In the next one hour, he taught me everything that was taught in the school in the past two days and we did our homework together. I am so thankful to Mason for doing this, he comes after every one day to help me with my studies so I don't fall behind. And in the process of doing homework together I have got my friend back.

"How is Nina? I haven't seen her in awhile"

"She's fine. I guess" he replied his eyes focuses on the math sum he was doing.

I stared at him, waiting for him to explain what 'I guess' means but he didn't say anything else, he didn't even look up.

"What does I guess means?" I gave voice to my thoughts.

He closed his eyes and sighed, then looked up at me.

"I guess means I don't know cause I also haven't talked to her in a week."

I was surprised to hear this. Mason and Nina always seemed so happy.

"What do you mean? Did you two had a fight?"

"No, not really. She just seemed a lot distant lately and when I asked her about it she started arguing and that was it. She didn't try to contact me after that."

"Really? Wow." I said.

"I don't know what's up with her Eva, she's great, she really is but she's so controlling. I sometimes feel she only cares about herself, its always me who runs after her, is worried about her but I've never seen her do the same.

"I'm sorry to hear that" I said.

Seeing him sad like this hurt me alot, I want Mason to have nothing but happiness, he deserves it so much. I knew Nina had been acting wierd lately, Ally has been telling me about it. She didn't sit with our friends in the lunch break and was missing school more than usual.

"Nevermind her, lets focus on you. How are you and Carter doing huh?" He said breaking my thoughts.

"Oh, me and Carter, we are going great" I replied with a smile as guilt from that night washed over me all again.

I was in the kitchen drinking water when my phone rang in my pocket. I took it out and saw Kaiden's number flash on the screen.

What should I do? Should I pick up? If I do what do I say to him? Thinking for a second more I sighed and picked up his phone.

"Hello" I heard his voice.

"Hey" I replied back.

"How are you?"

"I'm good"

There was a pause and then he talked again.

"When do you think you'll come back to school?"

"Kaiden I don't know where the drugs are" I said.

There was silence and for a moment I thought he had hung up.

"Did you ask him?" He said finally.

"Yea I did but he didn't tell"

"Really? I thought you were his girlfriend and he can trust you with anything"

"Its not like that, he's doing that to keep me safe"

"Like he kept you safe the night you got kidnapped?"

I didn't reply cause I didn't gad anything to say. I wanted to kill Kaiden right now for starting all this. Things were going great between me and Carter until he came and starting putting thoughts in my head.

"Eva?" He called his voice soft again.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to be rude, I am just-"

"Its okay Kaiden, I have to go now" I said and before he could say anything I hung up.

I took in a deep breath and filled myself a glass of water to drink. I was alone in the house today, mom and the kids had gone with Henry to have dinner, I didn't feel like going, my head had been hurting the whole day.

The phone buzzed again in my pocket, I took it out thinking it was a text from Kaiden but instead it was from Carter.

'I'll come pick you up for dinner be ready' It read.

I thought for a second and then texted back.

'I'm having dinner with my family some other day?'

'Okay' he replied back.

I placed my glass on the sink and walked out of the kitchen. Just when I reached the stairs there was a knock on the front door, thinking mom and the kids must have returned I walked over to it.

I opened the door and took a step back after seeing Carter on the other side.

"Why are you ignoring me?" He said.

He was wearing a grey sweater, his car parked on the street.

"Is it about the drugs? If it is I'll tell you where they are but please stop ignoring me."

"I'm not ignoring you and its not about the drugs" I replied.

"Then why are you not looking my way?"

I looked up into his eyes, they looked so beautiful at night, like dreams that came true.

"Because I did something wrong and I'm scared you won't forgive me" I said finally.

He didn't say anything just stared at me, I waited for him to ask me what it is but he didn't, he just stood there in the doorqay looking at me.

"Are you not going to ask me what I did?"

"No. You can tell me when your ready" he replied stepping in.

He grabbed my hand and walked towards the kitchen.

"Have you had dinner yet?" He asked searching around the kitchen cabinets.

"I was asking you about drugs because Kaiden wanted me to find out and let him know. I wasn't going to tell him I promise but when he asked me if I knew where they were I got curious and asked you"

I couldn't look at Carter, I was scared to see anger in his eyes or worse disappointment. I didn't know what he was thinking, was he thinking about breaking up with me? Is this it? I waited for him to say something, anything but there was just silence. After an eternity he spoke again.

"So have you had your dinner yet?" He said and returned back to the cabinets, taking out a pan from the fifth one.

I stared at him, shocked at his reaction, wasn't he angry at me for betraying him? Why wasn't he saying anything about it?

"Aren't you going to say anything?"

"Like what?"

"Like be angry at me or-"

"Eva you were just trying to help me, that something you do, try to help people you care about. That's one of the reasons why I love you"

He walked over to me and held my hands.

"And besides you didn't betray me, I know you can never do that"

I didn't know what to say to him ao instead I hugged him, he held me in between in arms with tenderness that was just for me.

What did I ever do to deserve this man?

Hi everyone here you have another chapter. I wrote all of this right now, sitting in an official building waiting for my turn to get my id card made and my number HAS STILL NOT COME. I have been sitting here for a WHOLE THREE HOURS now. Anyways I hope you all like this update thankyou for your concern about me before it made me feel so special.
