Chapter 3
A couple of hours later, six of the seven friends gathered in front of Yoongi and Misun's shared apartment. Jimin did, in fact have to work that day, but had offered his own expletive-laden "encouragement" for Yoongi before promising to meet up with them later at Namjoon's apartment.
Yoongi sighed as he shakily unlocked the door for the last time. He allowed everyone else to enter before him, delaying the inevitable of having to face his situation.
He had just about composed himself enough to go inside when he heard the elevator ding behind him. He turned around slightly, hoping beyond all hope that Misun wouldn't, for some reason, have returned home early.
He held his breath as the door opened, but to his great relief, a girl he had never seen before exited, carrying a large box. He turned back around to go inside, but was stopped as the girl walked closer to him.
"Hey! 3B!"
Yoongi turned yet again and looked at her. "Are you Yoongi?" she asked, a bright smile on her face.
"Uh." Yoongi furrowed his brow. "Yeah."
"I'm Hana," she said. "I'm moving into 3D! Sorry for the confusion; I'm just trying to meet all my new neighbors! Junho in 3A told me your name," she explained. "Said you live here with your girlfriend...Haesun?"
"Misun," Yoongi corrected. "But she'll be your only neighbor here. I don't live here anymore."
"Oh," she said, confused. "Sorry, I thought – "
"It's okay," Yoongi interrupted. "Junho doesn't know yet."
"Well," Hana said, still sounding slightly confused. "Either way, it was nice to meet you." She struggled to shift the box onto her hip, then gave a small bow.
The move snapped Yoongi back to reality. "Oh my god, I'm sorry," he said as he reached out to take the box from her.
"It's okay," she chuckled, though she allowed him to take it. "You don't have to do that."
"It's no problem," Yoongi assured. "You said 3D?"
Hana nodded. "Thanks," she said as she led the way. She quickly opened the door, and stepped aside to let Yoongi walk in and place the box on the floor. He looked around for a moment, noticing more boxes littering the floor.
"When did you start moving in?" he asked as he walked back into the hall.
"Just this morning," Hana answered. "I figured everyone was already gone to work and such. Glad I ran into you, though."
Yoongi nodded. "Well, it was nice meeting you. I'll be moving out today, though, but if you need any help, my friends and I can assist."
"Thanks," Hana said. "It's just me moving everything, so that might be nice for some of my bigger stuff. But I'll let you know either way."
Yoongi nodded again, then turned to head back to the apartment he no longer called his. He noticed Namjoon standing against the door frame, arms crossed over his chest and a cheeky smile on his face. "What?" Yoongi asked.
Namjoon shook his head. "Nothing."
Yoongi rolled his eyes as he walked inside, and almost ran smack dab into the others. They were all hovering just inside the door, all wearing similar smiles to Namjoon. Yoongi once again rolled his eyes as he pushed past them.
"Where should we start?" he asked, looking around and sighing.
"Furniture," Jungkook said. "Get all the bigger stuff out first. We can start on that while you start packing your other stuff into boxes."
Yoongi sighed as he looked around at the couch and chair in the living room. "Maybe we should just leave it," he said quietly.
"Why would you do that?" Taehyung asked.
"How big of a piece of shit am I going to be to leave her with no furniture? Not even a bed."
"How big of a piece of shit was she to cheat on you?" Hoseok replied. "Let her go stay at his place if she needs somewhere to sleep."
Yoongi blinked. Hoseok was a bit harsh, but at the reminder of what Misun had done, his bitterness returned and he realized his friend was right.
"Where are we going to put all of this, though?"
"We can each keep some of it at our places until you can find a new apartment," Jungkook said. "Anything to get it out of here. She doesn't deserve to keep it," he said, agreeing with Hoseok.
Yoongi nodded. "Okay," he finally agreed.
They spent the next few hours moving everything out, and periodically returning to each of their places to drop off some of the furniture. The boxes went to Namjoon's, where Yoongi would be staying until he could find his own place. They were just about done when a knock sounded on the front door. Yoongi stood to answer it, and was only slightly surprised to see a sheepish Hana standing there.
"Hey," she said, sounding a bit shy. "Does your offer still stand to help me move some bigger stuff into my place?"
"Of course," Yoongi said immediately. "What all do you need brought in?"
"Some furniture," she said. "My brothers were supposed to help me out today, but both got called into work. And there's no way I can move a couch and a bed up here on my own."
"We'll help," Yoongi said, turning back around to look at his friends. "Do you guys mind?"
"Not at all," Seokjin said kindly. "Happy to."
Yoongi barely caught the sly look Taehyung and Jungkook shared before he turned back around. He scowled at them both, knowing what they were thinking. They simply returned his scowl with innocent smiles, and he rolled his eyes.
"Let's go," he said, turning back to Hana. "Lead the way."
They all followed her downstairs and, once they helped her get everything up to her apartment, dispersed to their own cars to head back to Namjoon's. Yoongi, however, joined Hana in the elevator, heading back to the apartment to lock up.
"Well, again, it was nice to meet you," Hana said. "I'm sorry if I caused any trouble for you and your friends."
"You didn't," Yoongi confirmed. "And it was nice to meet you, too. I hope you'll like it here."
Hana nodded. "I think I will."
She walked with Yoongi to what used to be his apartment, and stopped as he opened the door to look around one last time. Then, he sighed as he closed the door and locked it. He then placed the key under the mat in front of the door. Hana watched him curiously.
"Do you mind if I ask why you're moving out?"
Yoongi tensed before standing up straight again. "We broke up," he said flatly.
Hana nodded. "That's what I assumed. I'm sorry," she offered.
"It's alright," Yoongi said, sounding a bit sad. "I guess it's for the best in the end. She found someone else. Now she can be with him."
Hana's eyes widened. "Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pried."
Yoongi shook his head. "No worries. She's a great girl otherwise," he said. "You'll enjoy being her neighbor, I'm sure."
Yoongi didn't miss the hint of a scowl that crossed Hana's face. "I'm not sure I could be friends with someone like that, but as long as she doesn't disturb me, I'm sure it'll be fine."
Yoongi nodded. "I understand. But she really is nice. Don't not give her a chance on account of me."
"You're awfully kind to still have nice things to say about her."
Yoongi shrugged. "I don't hold any ill will toward her. It's not like I want her to be miserable or anything."
"Like I said, kind," Hana said with a smile. "I'm bummed I won't see you around anymore, Yoongi. You're kind of one of a kind."
And for the first time since he'd received Misun's text, a small smile crossed Yoongi's face.
"That's kind of you to say," he said finally.
"Well, thanks again for all your help," Hana replied.
"No problem," Yoongi said. "Enjoy it here."
Hana nodded. "Bye, Yoongi."
"Bye, Hana."
-
"So, what the hell was she thinking?!"
Yoongi sighed. "I don't know, Jimin. That I wasn't good enough?"
Jimin's angry expression softened. "I didn't mean – "
"I know," Yoongi replied. "I'm sorry. I'm just still trying to figure it all out myself."
"She better hope she never crosses my path," Jimin muttered.
"You guys don't have to stop being friends with her," Yoongi said quietly. "I know you all really liked her."
"Are you kidding?" said Hoseok. "Why on earth would we continue being her friend?"
"Yeah, we all liked her," Taehyung said. "But that was back when she was a decent person."
"Or, at least, when we thought she was," Jungkook agreed.
Yoongi shook his head. "I can't think of her like that. I mean, I wish I could now, but I still have to believe she's somewhat of a good person. Otherwise, the entirety of the relationship would've just been a waste. A year of my life, not worth it in any way."
The other guys looked around at each other, sympathetic looks on their faces. They couldn't help but think it was a waste. But that was Misun's fault, not Yoongi's, obviously. But they wouldn't dare voice their thoughts. That's not what Yoongi needed right now.
"I can't help but wonder how long it's been going on, though," Yoongi said suddenly. "How long was I fool for?"
"She said it hadn't been going on long," Namjoon said. "But either way, Yoongs, you're not a fool."
Yoongi sighed, but said nothing further.
"I have an idea," Jimin suddenly said. "Let's all go out tonight. You need something to get your mind off of all of this. Let's go to dinner, then head to a bar or club or something. You deserve to let loose, Yoongs."
Namjoon smiled. "I think that's a great idea."
"I'll stay sober," Seokjin said, immediately accepting his role as the responsible one as the eldest. "Keep you chuckleheads in line."
Yoongi shook his head. "I don't know, guys."
But Namjoon just returned his head shake. "Nope, it's settled. We're going. You're going to let yourself have some fun and forget about all this for awhile."
"You're not going to let this go, are you?" Yoongi asked.
"Nope," all six of the others answered at the same time, and Yoongi couldn't help but chuckle.
"Fine," he said. "Let's all get ready, then."
