Catnip
“I’m just gonna say this now, I’m not getting sunburnt for science,” Danny said, seeing Secilia glance at him with an almost evil look.
“Aww, come on,” Secilia said.
“No,” Danny maintained.
“And you are not getting sunburnt for science either, young lady,” Amelia said, coming into the room.
“Yes mom,” Secilia said, ducking her head.
“Did you want to tell me something?” Amelia asked, glancing at Secilia’s open laptop.
“Oh, yeah,” Secilia picked up her laptop, expanding it further. “Eli, the kid that was just here, is actually related to Loraine. She’s his mom. Previously, he’d been living with his aunt and uncle, but I guess he disappeared a year or so ago.”
“He went down to Slugterra,” Amelia said.
“How’d you know?” Emma asked, leaning forward slightly.
“Loraine told Adam before they were married about her previous marriage. Including the legacy of the Shanes. When we moved in, Adam told me,” Amelia explained.
“And you didn’t think to tell me?” Secilia asked.
“It was around the same time Emma and Colyn had their run in with Eli. At that point, you all knew about it and didn’t need to hear it from us,” Amelia replied.
“I guess that makes sense,” Emma said, absentmindedly rubbing Flamingo’s head.
Secilia picked up her laptop. “I’ll forward the information to social services, and hopefully, we’ll have him in an hour or so.”
Danny frowned as his stomach grumbled, and glanced towards the kitchen. “Are there any snacks ready?”
“Danny, it’s almost lunchtime, I think you can wait 30 more minutes,” Onyx said.
Danny slouched, then straightened up again. “Well, tell me when it is lunchtime, I’m going for a flight.”
“I’ll join you,” Secilia said, hitting a final key, then closing her computer. “You’ll get the notification in a little while mom. I’ll leave it up to you to tell Loraine and Adam.”
Danny looked a little put-off, but he transformed nevertheless, flying through the ceiling. Secilia followed him, the pair disappearing.
“Well, I’m going to start on lunch. Sabanthia mentioned she had a free period after her lunch, so she was going to come eat here,” Onyx said, disappearing into the hallway that leads to the kitchen.
“I have some school work to finish,” Emma apologized. “I might be a little late for lunch.”
Colyn just shrugged, walking off without a word.
Arrow grinned. “I have to finish a couple of the chores. Call me in when it’s time for dinner.”
Annmarie didn’t move, except for picking up her book and continuing to read.
Annmarie was still there half an hour later, when Catnip charged through the doors, looking for Kat.
“Where’s Kat?” Catnip asked, her ears swiveling to face Annmarie.
“Um, I think she’s taking one of the horses out for a ride,” Summaria replied. “She should be back soon, why do you need her?”
“And, more importantly, are you staying for lunch?” Onyx asked.
“I guess I can stay for lunch, but then I need to borrow Kat for a while,” Catnip allowed.
“Well, have her back by dinner,” Onyx replied. “Merlin and her family are coming over.”
Catnip nodded. “You said she’ll be back soon?”
“She’d better, lunch is almost ready.” Onyx replied.
“I’d better what,” Kat asked, appearing behind Onyx.
“Be back before dinner. Catnip’s taking you after lunch.” Onyx replied, turning to face Kat.
“Do you need help with a new kid?” Kat asked Catnip.
“Yeah, winged scorpia, she’s having pretty much the same problems you did, so we’re sending her to stay with you guys for a while.”
Kat nodded. “Name?”
“Xiomara. We nicknamed her Mara.”
“That’s a cute name,” Onyx remarked.
“Yeah, it is,” Kat agreed.
(A/N) Yeah, it’s late, I’m calling it a night. Bye!
