Emma considered asking Caiden where the killer was, since he claimed to know everything about the case but refrained from doing so because that would only make her look immature and unprofessional in front of the detectives who were watching them both with keen interest.

"We had another victim last night." Detective Rhodes stated, breaking the uncomfortable silence that ensued after Caiden's last comment. "Jason Keebler was murdered in a similar fashion to the other victims."

It was yet another person Emma could care less about. It seemed someone was ridding the world of all the unpleasant people she knew. Regardless of her personal feelings towards the victims, she knew the maniac had to be stopped. If not for justice, then she had to stop him to prove a point. McDouglas wasn't as good an agent as she was and she was prepared to prove it.

"We need to run a background check on everyone in the class of 96. We need to know what everyone has been up to and what enemies they've made along the way."

She had barely finished speaking when Caiden brought out a large file from his briefcase and placed in on the table. He slammed his hand on the file just to be dramatic, soliciting a mental eye roll from Emma.

"I already ran a background check on everyone. Everything you need to know is in there." Caiden stated.

It took all the willpower within her to stop her fists from finding his face. He was a shameless show off. He knew the logical steps she was likely to take to uncover the killer's identity and he made sure he was one step ahead. The scumbag was literally withholding information to make himself look cool in front of the detectives.

"If you informed us of the steps you had already taken, you would have saved a lot of our valuable time, don't you think?" She asked with a smile Caiden knew was downright sarcastic.

"Special Agent Roosevelt is right." Detective Rhodes interjected. "Let's have all the facts so we can come up with a plan."

"You can save your hero moments for when the case is closed." Caiden replied him, earning himself a death glare from the detective. "She doesn't need a knight and she certainly is no damsel. Besides, running a check on everyone associated with an established trend is standard procedure."

"Agreed." Detective Chase cut in. "How do we proceed?"

"Did you see any red flags in their history?" Emma asked, ignoring Caiden's rude remark.

"I found a couple. First, there was someone named Aaron Rustle. He pretty much fell off the radar a few years after high school. Next, there was Simon Cullen. He had a pretty bad falling out with two of the victims a few years ago. The third person that made me raise an eyebrow was Isabelle Steele. She dated both Jason Keebler and Thomas Drew at different points in time. Both relationships ended in not so pretty breakups. Here's what interesting about it. Both Jason Keebler and Thomas Drew cheated on her with Rebecca Riley, and Thomas dated Eunice Donald shortly after his breakup with Isabelle."

"I think we should look into all three cases but I don't see a real motive here. These killings look to me like the actions of an angry person. Someone with a personal vendetta against these people. What we should be looking for is a trend. All the victims were closely knit in high school and they weren't the nicest bunch."

"Right. I didn't find anything after high school that looked anywhere close to a motive. My hunch says the killer is someone who was in high school with all of them." Caiden replied.

"I was actually thinking the same thing." Emma concurred but was interrupted once again by an annoying remark from Caiden.

"Can't you see how easy it is to get along with me?" He asked.

"Get over yourself." She replied.

"Ouch." 

Caiden pretended to be hurt, making Emma just a little more upset at him. The smile on his face shortly after proved he was anything but.

"Pretty much everyone outside their group of ten didn't like them. You should look into the other people and pencil anyone with a motive like that."

"Let's get to work then." Caiden replied, getting up from his chair and walking out of the room.
