Chapter Eleven
Two armies faced off, one undead, one with very few combatants. Sure, the one with the smaller army had a ship designated for war, but it was no match against the undead predacons. With the warship down, it was just the Autobots and Rescue Bots left.
Silverdust watched in horror as Unicron began to send his army towards the few bots holding ground against him, only to let out a breath of relief when breaths of flame attacked the undead army. That relief was short lived though, as the living predacons were only able to hold the undead ones back for a minute.
Everything else happened in a blur for Silverdust. Wheeljack and Optimus returned with the allspark, and Unicron immediately started targeting that. The Prime and the Chaos Bringer had a huge battle, before Unicron finally managed to get hold of the container holding the Allspark. Silverdust watched in horror only to be confused when the Lord of the Undead was siphoned into the container that held the Allspark instead of destroying it as he had planned.
Silverdust watched a purple energy was sucked from her sire's body and was trapped within the container that once held the Allspark. Megatron's body fell to the ground, and Silverdust assumed that he was dead once more. A few minutes after that, she was joined by her fellow Autobots as well her favorite predacon and his two new subjects.
"As a being comprised of pure energy, Unicron's antispark was vulnerable to this reliquary of the Primes."
"But if he's in there, where's-" Smokescreen was cut off by a high pitched voice that everyone recognized as Starscream's.
Silverdust turned as Starscream spoke. "Praise the Allspark! Master! You're alive!"
And indeed Megatron was. Silverdust gaped at the sight of her sire beginning to stand again, and ignored the shaking that her servos were doing. She was caught of guard by her servo being taken in someone else's and Silverdust smiled when she realized that it was her Heatwave.
"Indeed", Megatron panted, putting a servo to his helm as he finished standing up. Silverdust couldn't help but freeze softly as his gaze shifted to look at her.
"Your knew battle armor will take things to the next level, my liege!" Starscream proclaimed while Megatron started looking at his servos, finally noticing the change. "Together we will reunite all Decepticons, and once again grind Cybertron under your mighty heel."
Silverdust flinched when Megatron shouted "NO!"
"What?" Starscream said dumbly. "Why?"
Megatron turned to look at Optimus with a remorseful look in his optics. "Because I now know the true meaning of oppression, and have thus lost my taste for inflicting it."
Silverdust shot a glance at Optimus registering the shocked look on his face, before turning back to the former Decepticons.
"You've clearly been traumatized, master. A good power down, and a stroll around the smelting pit will put you back in touch with your inner warlord."
Silverdust saw Megatron fist clench as he spoke sharply to his former SIC. "Enough! The Decepticons are no more! And that is final!"
After that, the former warlord turned to Silverdust, who Heatwave stepped protectively in front of. Megatron reached out to touch her face, but when she flinched, he stopped and looked at the ground.
"I'm sorry, daughter. I should have treated you better."
With that, he turned and ran off, transforming after a few seconds, and flying away. Megatron, former leader of the Decepticons, had put himself in exile. Silverdust stared after him, wondering what had occurred with Unicron that gave her sire a change of heart.
After that Starscream ran off, with the predacons following him. Silverdust turned to Optimus, who led them over to the Well of Allsparks, where Ratchet and Ultra Magnus waited. Silverdust instantly went over to Ratchet, quietly asking how Ultra Magnus was doing.
"In order to both protect the Allspark, and secure Unicron's defeat, it was necessary for me to empty the vessels contents", Optimus finally answered the question that had been burning in everyone's mind.
"To where?" Bumblebee asked.
"The Matrix of Leadership", Optimus said solemnly. "As such, my own spark can no longer be separated from the multitude of others within me."
Ratchet leaned forward a bit, disbelief clearly showing on his face. "Are you telling us... that you are now... one with the Allspark?"
Smokescreen chuckled nervously. "That's what you say when someone... kicks the..." He trailed off at the end, and Silverdust stared at Optimus, not sure of what to think or say.
"To not return the Allspark to the Well would be to prevent future generations of new life from existing on Cybertron. My quest must be completed."
"Optimus..." Ratchet growled. "I didn't return to save a life... only to lose the one I care most about."
"Ratchet's restored planets. He'll find a way to save you", Bulkhead said optimistically. Silverdust wished it was true, but she knew in her spark that it was not to be.
"We can turn to Vector Sigma, just like we did before", Arcee said, already coming up with a game plan. Silverdust shook her head.
"Guys... it's no use. Vector Sigma can't help us. It's not the same as before. Optimus... Sire... really has to go."
Silverdust choked back the pain in her voice, and stared at her adopted sire, wishing that he could stay for longer. He smiled softly at her, before turning to address all of them as a whole.
"Because the Matrix must now be relinquished with the Allspark, it cannot be restored, or passed down to another. But while this may very well mark the end of the Age of Primes, leadership can be earned with or without the Matrix. And in my view, you have each acted as a Prime."
Silverdust heard Knockout mumble something, but she couldn't make out what it was. Optimus continued as he turned to face the Well. "As even Megatron has demonstrated on this day, every sentient being possesses the capacity for change." Glancing back, Optimus requested one more thing from them all. "I only ask this of you, fellow Autobots: Keep fighting the noblest of fights."
"You can count on us to keep the peace", Bumblebee said as he stepped forward. Silverdust smiled, knowing that he'll make a great leader one day.
Optimus smiled at them one last time, before taking off into the sky and letting himself fall into the Well. As he fell, he sent out one last message to the Autobots standing at the Well.
"Above all, do not lament my absence, for in my spark, I know that this is not the end."
Towards the end of the message, a multitude of sparks in many different colors flew out of the Well, almost looking like fireworks going off.
Optimus' last message continued, ending with "But merely a new beginning." A red and blue spark left the multitude and hovered in front of them, and they could hear Optimus' voice resonating from it.
"Simply put, another transformation."
The spark hovered in front of Silverdust and she smiled sadly at it. "Thank you, Sire. For everything."
With that, Optimus rejoined the other sparks, and he lost in the multitude. Silverdust turned and hugged Heatwave, who held her tight. As soon as the light show from the sparks was finished, the Autobots began to head back to the warship to clean up the mess from their final battle.
They continued to rebuild until finally Cybertron was what it used to be. A glorious, living planet with lots of sparks milling about. Former Autobots or Decepticons, it didn't matter. As long as they agreed to keep the peace, they were welcome. And so, they all lived happily ever after.
The End.
