Chapter 4
Jimin:
Wallet? Check. Room key? Check.
Do I smell good? Yes. Does she look excited? Yes.
Jimin begins ticking off his mental list for the night. The members gave him some advice to keep her entertained, but so far Jimin hasn't been able to tell how well he's doing.
When he first saw her standing next to the lobby doors, his jaw dropped.
She's wearing a denim shirt paired with a blue and white striped skirt. So simple, yet so cute. He remembers how her eyes lit up when he looked at her. She was standing there, staring dreamily at him.
Thank you, Hoseok, for choosing my outfit.
Now, as they move closer and closer to the restaurant, Jimin can't help but glance at her. He wants to please her. He wants to prove himself to her. Like a young boy falling in love for the first time, he's above and beyond anxiety, as butterflies bloom and flutter throughout his body. He wants to be chivalrous and take control. People like that, right? Sure, not everyone is traditional, even Jimin has never really considered himself traditional. But, somehow, she brings it out of him. As if her existence has awoken a strange desire to be considered masculine. His entire being is aware of this change.
Every move he makes has been thought through carefully.
Will it be enough?
"Park Jimin, have a good night. Call us if you need an early lift home for whatever reason. Don't make too much eye contact with the staff and customers. Keep your glasses and this hat on," Jimin's manager passes him a hat from the front seat, "Be careful. We'll be back in 2 and a half hours, okay?"
"Yeah..." Jimin mumbles, blushing out of frustration.
He's making me feel smaller next to her...
"Alright, have a good night you two," Lilly nods and opens the door. The manager gives Jimin a thumbs-up as he closes the door.
Embarrassing...
They stand there, watching as the van drives off. Lilly fiddles with her handbag, biting her lip.
"Uh... we should go in..." Jimin mumbles as he gestures for her to head in first. Lilly smiles as he opens the door for her.
1 smile point.
Jimin and Lilly approach the counter. Jimin lets Lilly communicate with the waitress. He has been embarrassed enough tonight, he doesn't need to accidentally fumble his English as well.
The waitress leads them to a secluded corner, at Lilly's request.
"I'll come to take your order in a moment," She smiles as she returns to the register.
Jimin pulls her seat out for her, before shuffling into his own seat. Lilly smiles, causing Jimin's heart to beat harder.
For a moment, Jimin can do nothing but stare. Lilly is wearing her hair down, her chocolate hair appearing much lighter in the restaurant light. She has applied a little bit of makeup, making her eyes appear brighter and deeper. He could explore the depths of her mind for hours if he could.
What is she thinking? Is she disappointed?
What if she likes Namjoon because he spoke to her first?
"Do you like it here? I'm sorry it's not too romantic," Lilly flushes as she leans forward a little.
She doesn't mind romantic?
They are in a little corner of the restaurant, hidden from everybody. Other than a private room, he hasn't been in such a secluded spot in any restaurant.
"This is pretty romantic," Jimin smirks. Lilly's eyes widen slightly as she quickly busies herself with the menu.
"You've never eaten here before, right? I'll go through the menu with you," She giggles uncertainly. Jimin lets her explain the menu away, going through the vegan section, the salads, and how you make the order. Eventually, Jimin has decided on a dish Lilly says they are well known for; a steak.
The waitress comes back, takes their order, and leaves them in silence again.
Jimin can't take it anymore. He must say something and get a conversation going. He leaves for America tomorrow, how can he leave a good impression on her if they don't talk?
"So... are you an ARMY?" Jimin says before instantly cringing inwardly.
ARMY? You could only think of that?
Lilly frowns as she tries to think of a response.
"Do I work for the Army?" She frowns.
"Oh, no, no," Jimin laughs, "ARMY is the name of our fandom,"
"Ahh," Lilly nods, "What was the group name again?"
Of course, she doesn't know who we are. Is this good?
"We are called BTS or Bangtan Sonyeondan,"
"Bulletproof?" Lilly smirks, "Where did that name come from?"
So, they begin talking about BTS and where it all started for him. When they debuted, what their debut song was, and how far they've come.
"We just finished touring for our previous album last year. It was really fun. We got to meet so many awesome American artists and be on many cool shows,"
Lilly bites her lip again.
Ha... I want to bite that lip...
Jimin! Park Jimin! What is wrong with you?
"Wow... I don't know how I missed you guys," Lilly grimaces, "I'm sorry..."
"No! I'm glad you haven't heard of us!" Jimin chuckles awkwardly, "It means you don't like me because of what I am, rather who I am,"
Lilly blushes deeply.
"L-Like you?"
What the hell Park Jimin!
"I... I didn't mean... I mean... don't you...?" Jimin begins umming and ahhing, digging himself a deeper hole.
I might as well have gotten down on one knee and proposed! This is what Namjoon told me not to do!
Damn it, flirting is a lot easier when there are no strings attached.
Suddenly, the waitress arrives with their food, startling them both.
"Enjoy," She smiles, giving Jimin a long side glance.
Fuck, I didn't stop to think whether there would be any fans in this restaurant.
Jimin does a quick glance around him but realises quickly that the place is full of older people and families. The only younger ones seem to be the waitresses.
He notices them huddled near the front counter, whispering and pointing in their direction.
"uh... I think..."
"It's okay, Jimin," Jimin freezes as he takes a moment to allow her voice to envelope him. His name echoes throughout his mind, calming him.
Who cares, really, if some people recognise him? He's here, alone with Min Lilly. No members encouraging him, no family watching over her shoulder. Just the two of them.
"Huh?" He asks.
"I... I do like you," Lilly's cheeks light up, along with everything around her. His heart has leapt into his throat and is beating a tattoo against his Adam's apple. She mumbles something else, but Jimin can no longer hear her. All he can hear is how she said his name, and how her eyes flushed with happiness.
How is she able to make me feel this way? Is this my first real love?
"Huh?" He mumbles stupidly as Lilly says his name again.
"I said, let's change the topic," she smirks, "Are you guys on tour now?"
"Oh, yeah," he remembers the gruelling practice sessions, and the long flight tomorrow, "Yeah, we just finished performing in Australia. We head to America tomorrow morning,"
"Oh," Her face falls. She looks down at her food, pushing around the salad she has ignored.
Suddenly, an idea pops into his head. It's so crazy, yet simple, it leaps out of his mouth before he could even consider what he is asking of her.
"Do you want to come with me?"
Lilly's eyes widen again as the piece of hair she was fiddling with falls across her chest.
"Huh?"
Jimin blushes, realising exactly what he has done.
What if she says yes?
"I mean... if you want to..." As his mind becomes set on convincing her, he quickly leans forward and grasps her hands in his. His chest swells as he realises her hands fit perfectly in his.
Stop wandering off into fantasy land! Convince her!
"It's just... I can't stand the thought of jumping on that plane tomorrow without you, knowing I can't see you again for another few months. It hurts, so much. I want to take you away with me. Don't worry about school, your family, or money. I'll make sure you don't starve, and we'll come back often so you can see them. Please," Jimin takes a deep breath in, "Please move to Korea with me,"
Jimin holds his breath as he watches her brain tick. Her expression is blank, but she isn't angry or upset, just shocked.
Jimin begins absentmindedly stroking her knuckles to keep his mind off her answer.
Please say yes, please say yes.
Run away with me, Lilly Min.
"Jimin..." She mumbles. She takes a deep breath in, her eyes alight with passion and sincerity.
"Yes?" Jimin beams, waiting for her to agree.
"I..." Lilly blinks a few times, pulling her hands out of his, "Jimin, I can't move to Korea with you,"
. . . . .
Yoongi:
"Hyung, wake up," Yoongi's eyes flutter open slowly, coming to rest on a floating grin inches from his face.
"Huh? What?" Yoongi whines as he shuffles onto his side causing Hoseok to laugh aloud.
"Wow, how can you be asleep right now? Jimin is on his first date! I can't sit in this hotel room silently!" Yoongi frowns as the bed begins rocking. Hoseok must be releasing his feelings on Yoongi's poor bed.
"Fucks sake... go!" Yoongi pulls the doona up over his head. Suddenly, Taehyung's face appears inches from Yoongi's under the covers.
"Yah!" Yoongi sits up, "Go annoy someone else,"
"Yoongi, why are you being like this?" Hoseok asks cutely, "Is it possible that you are more grumpy than usual?"
Taehyung giggles as he starts a conversation with Hoseok. Yoongi avoids Namjoon's searching look as he pulls the doona over his head again.
He hasn't mentioned this to anyone, but he knows Namjoon can make you confess to things you didn't know about yourself. He knows them too well.
As soon as he is hidden, Yoongi begins thinking about that girl.
He remembers when he first saw her. He had thought she was staring at them because she was a fan, but after seeing her at the restaurant he knows she is not a fan.
Something about her intrigues him. As much as he wants to learn more about her, he doesn't want to set off Jimin. Of all the members, Jimin is definitely one that would be jealous. Plus, his members come first. Always have, and always will.
But he can't stop thinking about her. Something about the way she holds herself sets him off. Like the way, a rapper holds themselves before destroying their opponent. The sort of stage presence people say BTS have, or any of Yoongi's favourite artists. She just screams charisma.
If this girl is into music or composing, or anything related to hip-hop...
She's mine.
But every time he thinks this he feels guilt overwhelm him.
How can I do this to Jimin?
Yoongi sighs as he rests his hand over his eyes, closing them. Her figure appears before him, his imagination speaking more than he ever could. Jealousy courses through his body as he imagines what they could be talking about right now.
Jealousy is an ugly emotion, Yoongi.
"Hey, Jimin is here. Let's go meet him," Namjoon smiles as everyone jumps up and begins putting their shoes on.
Yoongi follows, pushing aside his confusing emotions and fixing a huge grin to his face, masking everything easily.
