Chapter 3

What a day! I yawn as I make my way down the front steps of my university. I am studying for a Bachelor of Music at the University of Sydney. One day I hope to become a well-known songwriter for popular singers.

I don't want to take the stage myself. I could never have the charisma – or the death wish. Becoming a singer means I lose everything. My privacy, my family, my friends, my thoughts, everything. They look happy on TV and in photos, but in reality, many of them lose what makes them human, or the will to be human. I'd rather be behind the stage making it happen for those crazy enough to do it.

Thinking about my dreams makes me a little nervous.

I want to be in a production room with foam sound-proof walls, surrounded by talented kids nervously making requests and slowly working on their skills.

Then, I want to be in a room surrounded by legends wanting my production abilities. I want to be one of the producers that are mentioned in famous albums that get labelled legendary albums.

I want to be involved in that process. But I don't want to be the star of the show, just one of the people who helped make it happen.

I am rudely awakened from my thoughts and dreams as my phone vibrates in my pocket. I pull it out and check to see who's calling. It's a private number.

Strange, who could it be?

"Hello, this is Lilly speaking," I answer, perplexed.

"Uhhh..."

"Can I help you?" I hear a shuffling and scraping in the background, followed by some muffled whispers I can't make out.

"Hello?"

"Hi, who's this?" I ask, a crease appearing on my forehead.

"Hey, this is Namjoon from the other night, what's up?"

Oh, it's the Korean singers from work the other night. I should save this number.

"Hey, Namjoon," I switch to Korean, "Why have you called me?"

"Ah, it wasn't me. Jimin wants to speak with you, but he got startled when you answered in English," Namjoon chuckles, switching to Korean as well, "Do you want me to put him back on?"

"Yeah, sure," I quickly check my surroundings, hoping no one can see me blushing.

"H-Hello," Jimin mumbles quietly. I blush even more. I don't know why, but this guy gives me butterflies. It's not because he's famous, I can talk to Namjoon easily. Something about him is... cute.

"Hello," I mumble, grinning, "What can I do for you?"

"Ahh," Jimin chuckles cutely, "You don't have to be formal with me,"

"Ah, sorry," I giggle.

Jesus Christ, why does this guy make me so giddy?

"I was wondering... if you're not busy... or anything... if you'd like to meet up with me later, or...?" Jimin mutters, obviously flustered, "If you're too busy I can call back, or not call, or..." I laugh, butterflies erupting violently in my lower abdomen.

"No, I just got out of school, that would be nice," I grin as I hear one of the members cheer him on in the background.

"Shut up!" There is some more shuffling, which suggests Jimin has left the room, "So, uhm... where do you want to go?"

"How about I pick you up and show you some of the nice sights we get at night?"

"Well, uh, normally the guy takes the girl around... and stuff..." I smirk, rolling my eyes. I recall my grandma warning me not to date a traditional man: "They're too chivalrous! They want to take charge!" she said to me many years ago. So old-fashioned.

"Well, how about when you take me to Korea, you can show me around, okay?"

Jimin chuckles, obviously ecstatic that I am suggesting there will be more dates.

"All right, it's a date then. Meet me in the lobby of The IBIS Sydney World Square at 5 pm?"

"Sounds good, see you then," I grin as I hang up.

Suddenly, I can't take it. I start jumping up and down, clapping my hands like a child. My chest is swelling like a balloon ready to pop. Why does he make me feel this way? How does he make me feel this way?

It's something about those eyes, and that smile, that adorable smile.

I can't wait to see him. But what should I wear?

Time to get ready.

. . . . .

At 4 pm I receive a text:

JIMIN: Hey, what is your plan for the night?

I smirk. Is he getting cold feet, or did he miss me so much he had to message me now?

LILLY: I'm thinking about taking you to a restaurant that I like. It's one of my favourites and it really encompasses Australian culture.

JIMIN: Ooo Hehe~ what's it called? I'm really curious.

LILLY: It's called Hogs Breath. It's one of my favourite Australian restaurants.

Jimin takes a while to reply. I frown. Does he not want to go there?

LILLY: We can go somewhere else if you'd like...

JIMIN: No, it sounds nice! :D

LILLY: Why did you reply so slowly ;(

JIMIN: Stop being so cute~ I had to ask Namjoon to translate it... I thought you were suggesting my breath smelt bad ;(

I can see why he made that mistake. I shouldn't have translated Hogs Breath. I laugh out loud, cutely kicking my feet up in the air. Why is he so cute?

Suddenly, I blush at the thought of being close enough to smell his breath. How can he make me flush cool and warm at the same time? He's making me all hot and bothered.

LILLY: I haven't even smelt your breath!

JIMIN: Sorry, I promise I've brushed my teeth.

What is he suggesting?

I throw my phone from me, burying my face in my pillow.

He's coming on strong for a guy who couldn't ask me for my number. I smirk.

Texting must be where he feels most comfortable.

I grab my phone quickly and reply.

LILLY: >,< I'll see you soon!

JIMIN: All right, see ya!

I pick up my purse and chuck my phone in there, cringing slightly at what I've become. I imagined having a cool relationship, like in the movies. I always cringed at the sight of anything cheesy like this, but I can't help it. What is he doing to me? How cheesy is it going to get?

I sling my purse over my shoulder, grab my keys and head to the door.

"I'm heading out, see you guys later!" I call out to my mum and dad. I get a grunt in return. Grinning, I rush into the cool night air, feeling giddy and nervous.

It'll be fine, Lilly. You'll be fine.

Finally, I'm here. I'm 5 minutes early, but that's okay. He'll probably like that a lot. I sit in the car, fiddling nervously with my purse.

You'll be fine! Go get him!

I slide out of the car and head into the lobby.

At first, I don't see him. Maybe I'm too early?

Then, I spot him.

He is wearing light beige shorts, a white-collar shirt, and sneakers. He looks sexy, yet adorable. How can a man look both sexy and cute? How can he be handsome, yet squishy?

As he pulls out a mask from his bag, we make eye contact. My organs jump to attention and race each other around my abdomen as his handsome face turns into an adorable, bubbly smile.

He turns and saunters over to me. I'm too shocked, paralysed by his beauty and grace. How did I not notice he is a famous singer? He walks like one, looks like one.

He reaches me, stopping about a metre in front of me.

"Hi..." He mumbles nervously. I grin, my emotions getting the better of me.

"Are you ready?" I ask, trying to hide my own nerves. He relaxes a little more, "Let's go,"

He steps forward, and we begin walking out of the hotel. Suddenly, he stops.

"Uh... my manager wants to take us if that's okay..." He blushes.

Cute...

"That's fine. You're a celebrity, we have to be careful," He smirks, making my insides jump again.

"This way," He leads me to a car in a dark part of the building, and suddenly it hits me.

What if this guy isn't famous, but lying so he can murder me?

Jimin turns around as I stop, frowning.

"Are you okay?"

I bite my lip. I really don't want to say what went through my head. What if he gets offended?

"It's okay," Jimin steps closer to me, "You're leading this one,"

I blush again and give in.

Fuck it, If I'm going to die, this is how I'm going.

I nod and begin following him again. As we reach the car a man opens the sliding door, ushering us in. He quickly glances around, closes the door, and climbs into the driver's seat.

"Hogs Breath, right?" The driver asks.

"Yes, please..." I mumble as he speeds off.

After a moment of awkward silence, Jimin speaks.

"Sorry..." I turn and look at him. He looks nervous, yet a little upset.

"Why?"

"Well, this isn't exactly how I pictured our first date..." I blush again. What a hopeless romantic.

"It's fine," I mumble, "I'm just flustered you asked me on a date,"

Jimin blushes as well. We just blush all the time, don't we?

"That's good," He nods happily to himself, looking out the window. I smile happily.

Tonight is going to be good.
