Chapter 30

Jungkook:

"Jeon Jungkook!" Jungkook lets Lilly go as Seokjin and Jimin rush into the room, looking angry and shocked. Lilly takes a step back, looking at the floor. Taehyung groans in his sleep, rolling over and snoring.

Seokjin rushes forward and pulls Jungkook away from Lilly.

No, don't.

Jungkook looks at Lilly, begging her to look at him. But she avoids his eyes completely, looking up at Jimin.

"I'm sorry, Lilly," Jimin chuckles awkwardly, "He's a little drunk,"

"It's okay," She smiles sadly, "I know what's going on, you don't have to lie,"

The smile slips from Jimin's face. He looks to Seokjin pleadingly.

"He told us... he was working on ignoring it," Seokjin murmurs, "We wanted to avoid this... and any confrontation with Yoongi,"

"Don't tell Yoongi," Lilly blurts, glancing at Jungkook warily. Jungkook feels his heart break a little.

Is she worried to look at me? Have I ruined everything?

"I'm glad you agree, but out of curiosity, why?" Seokjin asks. Lilly opens her mouth, and closes it again, looking flustered and embarrassed.

"I... I don't want Yoongi to hurt Jungkook," She murmurs, fiddling with her shirt.

"Lilly..." Jungkook murmurs, but Seokjin smacks him on the top of his head.

"Go to your room, Jungkook, I'll tell the other you decided to go to bed early," Seokjin mumbles.

All of a sudden, Yoongi enters the dorms, as if summoned by his name. Namjoon is with him.

"Where is everyone? Why does Hoseok look dead?" Namjoon calls out. They spot everyone in Taehyung's room and rush in, looking around at all the guilty faces.

"What's going on in here?" Yoongi snaps, looking around.

Lilly starts laughing, looking around at everyone. Jimin and Seokjin join in, laughing at some unknown joke.

"We put Taehyung to bed," Lilly points to the unconscious Taehyung, "We were laughing at how drunk he is. You saw Hoseok, right?" She chuckles a little more.

At first, Jungkook thinks Yoongi isn't going to fall for it. However, he steps forward, ruffling her hair.

"Having fun with my drunk friends?" He asks, smirking cheekily. She nods, beaming up at him.

Whilst Yoongi isn't looking, Namjoon takes Seokjin's hand off Jungkook, giving him a knowing look.

At least Namjoon understands the situation perfectly.

"Yoongi," Lilly pouts, causing a knife to pierce Jungkook's heart, "I'm a little drunk,"

Yoongi chuckles, standing beside her and holding her by the waist.

"I can tell," He looks up at Namjoon, "Think you can deal with these drunkards?"

At first, everyone looks too sober. Seokjin panics, turning to Jimin.

"Jiminie~ Jiminie~" He wraps his arms around him, jumping up and down.

"Jiminie doesn't want to~" Jimin responds, pouting.

"Yeah, I can look after them," Namjoon smirks.

"I'll take her and go then," Yoongi leads Lilly from the room, pausing to grab his phone and Lilly's handbag.

At the door, he turns to look at everyone. His eyes fall on Jungkook, who is still shocked and hurt. His eyes narrow, but he doesn't say anything.

"I'll see you guys tomorrow, okay?" He grins.

"Bye Yoongi hyung!" Jimin waves, swinging his arms with exaggeration. Yoongi shakes his head and exits, closing the door behind him.

Everyone falls silent, looking at Jungkook. He looks at his shoes, biting his lip to prevent himself from crying.

Why do I want to cry? I knew it wouldn't work.

Why did I do it?

"What happened?" Namjoon asks seriously, looking between Seokjin and Jimin. Jimin steps forward.

"Jungkook kissed Lilly," Jimin mumbles.

Namjoon shakes his head stepping in front of Jungkook. Jungkook looks up at him, his eyes red.

"Why, Jungkook?"

Jung Kook shakes his head slowly, stepping away. Seokjin reaches out and grabs his arm, but he throws him off, glaring at him.

"It hurts," He whispers, "I want to be alone,"

"Jungkook," Jimin reaches out but Jungkook pushes him away.

"Leave me alone," Jungkook murmurs, turning and rushing to his room. He slams the door behind him, looking around at his silent room. He feels disconnected by it all. He falls to his knees, cradling his head.

Jungkook... Just do it.

Let it all out. Get rid of all the built-up emotions your hopeful heart has put there.

Tomorrow, Lilly is your friend, and you're the bad guy who made a mistake.

Only friends. Only friends.

Let it out.

A sob escapes Jungkook's lips. He clamps his hand over his mouth as tears slide down his cheeks.

Let it out.

He stands and rushes to his bed, kicking a random box lying on the floor. He grunts in pain, letting out anguished sobs. He doesn't care if they can hear him. He doesn't care. Not anymore.

He slides onto his bed, looking up at the roof.

Let it go, Jungkook.

Let it go.

. . . . .

Lilly:

"You're practising today, right?" Yoongi asks as a way of greeting me as I shuffle out of my room. I'm not hungover, just extremely tired.

"Yeah," I murmur, sitting in front of the food Yoongi prepared. It's hangover soup.

"Here," He passes me a tall glass of water, "You're going to be really tired today,"

"I know," I mumble, taking a big swig of the water.

After we finish breakfast, we head off to our separate rooms to get ready. When I leave my room I notice Yoongi's bag is beside the door. My heart tenses as the memory of Yoongi breaking up with me flashes across the forefront of my mind.

"Our last night together and it was spent with BTS anyway," I spin around to see Yoongi leaning against his doorway. I smirk and walk up to him, wrapping my arms around his middle.

"It was fun though," I smile.

I like you, Lilly.

The smile slips from my face as I remember why we left so early. Jungkook... how did I not realise?

"What's wrong?" Yoongi asks, frowning.

I was planning on telling him last night, but I must have been more exhausted than I thought. I went straight to sleep. But now is not the time. I can't tell him now.

You're about to spend the day with Jungkook, then tell him what happened?

Are you stupid?

I bite my lip, looking up at him.

"Can we... can we hang out tonight?" I ask. Yoongi smirks, chuckling at me as he places his arms around my back.

"Miss me already?"

"I do... but I need to talk to you about something," Yoongi stops smiling.

"Tell me now," He mumbles, letting go and taking a step back.

"I can't... it'll take too long. We'll be late,"

"If it's important, tell me now," Yoongi folds his arms, his eyes narrowed as if he is trying to read my mind.

I sigh. If I tell him later, he'll be extremely mad. I turn and head to the dining table, sitting down calmly. Yoongi saunters over pulls the chair out roughly, and sits. He entwines his hands in front of him, his head tilted as he waits for me to speak.

"Last night... something happened," My heart beats violently.

"What happened?" Yoongi growls, his hands clasped so tightly in front of him that his knuckles are turning white.

"Jungkook... confessed to me," I peek up at him.

A little at a time.

Yoongi sighs, looking down at the table.

"I was waiting for it..." He smiles bitterly, lifting his head, "What did you say?"

"I said I'm with you," I recite. Yoongi smirks proudly.

"Good," He takes a deep breath, "Is that all?"

"No," I bite my lip as he frowns.

"What else?"

"I need you to understand, Jungkook was really drunk, he didn't know what he was doing. I'll talk to him today and I'm sure he'll apologize or beg for forgiveness," I stammer, panicking a little.

"Did he..." Yoongi's eyes go wide, "Did he touch you?"

"Not like that!" I say loudly and quickly, blushing a little.

"Did he kiss you?" He whispers, shock and fear in his eyes. I nod, unable to say the words aloud.

Yoongi stands and begins walking to the door, his fists clenched at his side.

"Yoongi, wait!" He stops, and I rush up to him, standing between him and the door, "What are you doing?"

"I'm going to kill him," He whispers, the deadly anger bubbling just under the surface.

"Please don't do this, Yoongi," I bite my lip to stop myself from crying, "He was drunk, he didn't mean it,"
"Was it before we arrived?" He asks, glaring at me. I nod.

"Just before you came in,"

"So that's why you were all in that room?" I nod again.

Yoongi scoffs, glaring up at the ceiling. He begins breathing deeply as if barely holding onto his sanity.

"Why shouldn't I kill him?" He breathes.

"Because he didn't mean it. Jimin told me he cried all night, and this morning he said he will beg me to forgive him and that he's fine being friends and that it was stupid to do that," I blabber, my hands shaking.

What if I can't stop him?

Yoongi stares down at me for a long time, his jaw tense as he grits his teeth. He takes a few deep breaths as I wait.

Please, Yoongi.

Please.

I don't want to ruin your friendships.

Yoongi turns and heads to the lounge room. This sudden movement startles me for a moment, but I follow him automatically.

He sits down, his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands. He pulls at his hair, still breathing deeply.

"Yoongi..." I murmur, taking the seat beside him. He ignores me, still running his fingers roughly through his hair.

I sit and wait patiently, hoping he decides against confronting Jungkook. If they fight because of me, again, then I don't know what I am going to do. I've essentially created a rift in their group. I couldn't live with myself if he hurt Jungkook, not after everything that happened with Jimin.

After a long while, he looks up at me. I'm startled to see his eyes are red. He looks down at my lips, clenching his jaw.

"How..." Yoongi croaks. He clears his throat before continuing, "How can you ask me to ignore this? How can you ask me to forget it? How can you expect me to trust you? He kissed you!" He yells the last part, making me wince a little. I look back at him calmly.

"I know, I understand. What he did was wrong," I pause, trying to ignore the impulse to cry, "But why can't you trust me?"

Yoongi seems thrown by this statement. He looks away from me, his hands clasped in front of him. He takes a long time to reply. I wait patiently, hoping he agrees.

"You can't stop me from saying anything to him," He grunts.

"But..."

"But I promise I won't hurt him. Not a hair on his head," He looks back at me, smiling sadly, "Okay?"

I smile back, nodding. A tear falls down my cheek as the tension of the conversation, my fears, and worries, all come tumbling out.

Yoongi shuffles closer, pulling me into him so I am crying against his shoulder.

"However," Yoongi murmurs, "If he does it again, I'll kill him. Fair?"

I chuckle weakly.

"Fair,"

Yoongi lets go of me, standing up before holding his hand out for me to take.

"Let's get to work," He smirks. I nod, wiping my face roughly as I take his hand.

My shoulders feel weak. Apparently, I was more worried about Yoongi's reaction than I thought.

We head out, feeling closer to each other as we hold hands. I can feel his nervousness, but I can also sense his trust, something I didn't think was there.

Ironically, Jungkook kissing me might have brought us closer together.

. . . . .

Jungkook:

Jungkook arrives at the practice room, nervousness invading his every thought. What if she doesn't show up? What if she doesn't want to do the dance anymore? What if Yoongi sends him to the hospital? These thoughts run through his mind a mile a minute.

He sits down, stretching, glancing at the door every few seconds.

He opens his phone, deciding to text her.

JUNGKOOK: Hey, are we still practising today?

She responds almost immediately.

LILLY: Yeah I'm almost there.

JUNGKOOK: Okay, good.

LILLY: However... someone wants to talk to you.

JUNGKOOK: Yoongi?

LILLY: Yeah... but I promise he won't hurt you.

JUNGKOOK: Think I can't take him?

LILLY: This isn't the time for jokes.

JUNGKOOK: I'm sorry... I'll see you guys soon.

Jungkook puts his phone away, taking a deep breath. He wants to leave. He'd rather run away and give up his dreams of being an idol than face an angry Yoongi. No, a livid Yoongi.

He doesn't think he'll survive the conversation. Either Yoongi will destroy him and his ego, or he'll defend himself and lose Lilly as a friend.

What's more important right now?

After 15 minutes, the door opens. Jungkook looks up nervously. In the doorway are Lilly and Yoongi. She smiles sadly at him, walking over to where he is seated. He stares at Yoongi, his heart hammering in his chest.

What do I do? What do I do?

"Hey, Jungkook," Lilly smiles, trying to be friendly. He smiles a little in return, his eyes still on Yoongi.

Jungkook can't remember a time he has ever seen Yoongi this angry. No fight has ignited this much hatred and fire in his eyes. No cruel comments from the public have made Yoongi clench his jaw and fists this tightly.

Jungkook instinctively gulps, still watching Yoongi warily. He remains in the doorway, his arms folded, and his eyes narrowed. If looks could kill, Jungkook would be a pile of ash on this floor, along with this entire building.

After a long, cold silence, Jungkook realises something. Yoongi doesn't plan to hurt him. He's not sure what it is, his clenched fists, or his silent demeanour, but something seems more restrained.

After Lilly is finished stretching, they stand together, walking over to Yoongi.

Yoongi looks away, closing his eyes and breathing deeply.

He looks to Lilly, who smiles kindly. Has she really succeeded in asking him not to hurt him?

"Yoongi," Jungkook murmurs, "You have no idea how much I regret what I did," A tear falls from his swollen eyes, his pride in a destructive heap on the floor.

"I know," Yoongi growls, looking at Jungkook.

"You know I'm not like that, right?" Jungkook asks.

"I know," Yoongi sighs, his nostrils flaring as he tries to control his temper.

"I never intended on even telling Lilly about my feelings. I just lost myself that night, my feelings were too raw and new," Jungkook steps closer to Yoongi, close enough for Yoongi to reach out and strangle him. This thought increases Jungkook's uneasiness.

"I know," Yoongi looks to Lilly as if begging her to let him do what he really wants to do. Jungkook looks at Lilly.

"I'm sorry for making you feel uncomfortable," Jungkook sighs deeply, "I just want to be friends. Don't even worry about my feelings,"

"Are you sure?" Lilly asks. Yoongi glares at her. Jungkook nods quickly, smiling slightly.

"You're not mine, you're Yoongi's. I don't want to take you away, especially not from Yoongi," Jungkook glances briefly at Yoongi, their eyes linking momentarily. Yoongi's eyes are still narrowed, not satisfied.

Lilly starts beaming, standing between the two of them.

"Well, that's settled. Jungkook just wants to be friends and he understands where he stands with me," Lilly concludes, placing her hand on Yoongi's chest. Jungkook almost considers this a loving gesture, but she's subtly telling him to stop now.

Yoongi looks to her, almost pleadingly. Jungkook didn't notice when he was sitting down, but Yoongi's knuckles are so white from clenching them, all the blood has left them.

Maybe I should step back, just in case.

Maybe I deserve it... No, not maybe. I do. I deserve it. It'll be a wake-up call. A snap back to reality.

"You... you can hit me if you want," Both Lilly and Yoongi look at him, shocked. Jungkook smiles sadly.

"Jungkook..." Yoongi murmurs gruffly.

"I deserve it," Jungkook grimaces, "And it'll make you feel better,"

They turn to look at Lilly, who looks frightened at the direction the conversation is going. She looks up at Jungkook, little worry wrinkles in the middle of her forehead.

"Do you want me to make him snap?" Jungkook asks, "Just do it already. Get it over with,"

Yoongi frowns down at Lilly, his eyes begging her to let him do it.

Lilly shakes her head; her big eyes look so beautiful at this moment.

Jungkook smirks, looking at Yoongi.

"Fine, I'll taunt him," Jung Kook murmurs, folding his arms as well, "I just thought that her eyes looked so beautiful right now,"

THUD!

That was all Yoongi needed to push him over the edge. His fist collides painfully with the side of Jungkook's face, right across his jaw. He gasps, surprised Yoongi has such a hard and forceful punch. He falls onto the ground, hitting his back. He feels winded as a sharp pain jumps across his face.

God damn...

After a moment, Yoongi smirks.

"Now I feel better," He smiles happily, waiting for Lilly to get angry at him.

However, she turns and helps Jungkook up, her eyes tense and worried. Jungkook looks at Yoongi warily, but he appears calm.

He lets her help him, trying to hide the pain. But it hurt, a lot.

"That's going to bruise, you should get some ice on it," Yoongi murmurs. Jungkook smirks, holding his hand out for Yoongi to shake.

Yoongi sighs and takes it, pulling him into him and patting him on the back, a little too hard.

"Just so you know," Yoongi whispers, "If you do that again I will kill you, okay?"

Jungkook chuckles pulling away.

"Don't worry, you knocked some sense into me," Yoongi laughs as they turn to beam at Lilly.

She looks between them, torn between humour and frustration.

Yoongi pats Jungkook on the back again before turning and heading out the door. He pauses, just outside, turning to look at them.

"Have fun practising," Yoongi smirks evilly, "1 metre from her at all times,"

Jungkook nods vigorously. Lilly rolls her eyes at them, spinning around and heading to the stereo in the corner. Yoongi and Jungkook smile at each other once more before they both turn and head in their own directions.

Jungkook, ironically enough, feels a lot better after the encounter.

I will stop loving her. I will hide my feelings and let them fade.

Yoongi deserves her so much more than I do.

Jungkook lets these thoughts console him as he gets ready to practice.
