Introduction ☁︎

When you look at someone random for the first time in your life. Do you ever think what might be going on inside their head?
What they might be thinking when your eyes meet, and you start to memorize their face? Their words, or even when you hear their voice for the very first time?
It's always bubbled inside me, what they might be thinking when they see my face, because I'm always thinking when my eyes meet theirs.
Like the one person in particular. The one person who's always boggled my thoughts, and everyone's around him.
Some people come and go in your life, like an ocean wave crashing down on the stable sand, but him. Oh he was different. He was like a tornado. You'd hear about him, and prepare, but you'd stand no chance. He'd still be able to run into everyone, blowing them all away, causing them to hang on to those around. Stirring up anything's and everything's emotions, blowing them out, creating a horrible mess.
Twelve years ago.
"Raina! Will you please get your brother's box of toys from the car? I've got my hands full with Jason." My mother's calm, and soothing voice stated, as she bounced the little boy, Jason who was three months old at the time, on her hip gently.
"Yes mama!" I remember shouting, as I happily obeyed my mother's ask, skipping back to our minivan, we were at the time, unloading.
You see, twelve years ago we moved to this small, and quiet town from Chicago, Illinois. I was at least five years old at the time, with my three younger brothers ranging between three mouths and three years old.
I was the oldest. And proud of it. I enjoyed being in charge, and having the weight of my younger siblings on my shoulders, and I liked the responsibility. And I liked telling people what to do.
I was also excited to be moving away from the loud and busy city, to Organ, that's supposedly so different. And for me it was. Seeing all the green and life, compared to all the tall boring buildings, made it look like a whole other planet in my five year old mind.
As I picked up the box that was almost as big as I was, in my arms, I remembered noticing the house bedsides our new one. It was old, and small. The roof looked as if it were going to collapse any second, with its broken white, picket fence trembling as vines clung on to each board. To add, the back yard was full of over barring trees and plants. Overgrowing and overbearing, as if no one has ever stepped foot anywhere near it. It reminded me of a jungle, or a house you would see on one of those hunted shows. Making me curious to know what it looked like inside.
After I had finished bringing the box to my mother as she had asked, I ran outside into the back yard like any child would once they've bought a new house. And it was even more intriguing for myself since I never had a backyard to play in, I had lived in a tiny apartment my whole, small life.
It's was so green, so vibrant, so full of life; so different. I loved it.
I loved how the grass was long, thin, and a dark green, how it tickled my small pale bare legs as I walked through it. Or how we had actually oak trees. They towered over the yard, strong yet gently. I remember looking up to see their leaves tangled in each other, allowing small holes of light to burst through everytime the fresh wind would blow.
I really liked my backyard, and every tree that was in it. But my absolute favorite was the one that draped over my fence. It was huge, and a very dark green, its branches were strong, and looked snow white. At the time I didn't know what kind of tree it was, but I did know it was beautiful.
As I walked towards the beautiful, large tree, I began to notice it was actually placed in the neighbors house. The one who had a jungle as a backyard, and the one that looked hunted.
Looking up at the tree before me I was hypnotized by how the small, but vibrate green leaves moved along with the wind, and how some yellow butterflies gathered around the tree's branches. It reminded me of a painting. With its green foundation, and pops of yellow and as the baby blue sky peaked threw the leaves. Making it look magical.
I closed my eyes, taking in a big breath of the fresh, clean air, as I heard the trees crash together, making it sound like a waterfall was near.
When I opened them, I prepared to see the painting before me once again. But I was mistaken.
Blazing, orange hazel eyes. Like two sparkling suns, so wide and full of energy.
They scared me, I practically fell backwards, frozen in fear. At first I thought it might be a cat, or even a monster that lived in the nearby woods, those were my first thoughts that came through my young, imaginative mind.
I blinked. Thinking it might be my overactive imagination, but I was wrong. The bright, odd eyes still watched me from up in the tree. I soon realized this wasn't an animal or monster. But a boy.
In ragged coffee colored shorts, with his shirt gone, exposing his little chest that seemed bruised and scratched many times over his pale, peachy skin. His face twisted in what it seemed like curiosity, with his unusual hazel eyes that were pigmented with a dark orange more than any other color, as he scratched his head, allowing some of his shaggy sand blonde hair to fall over his face messily. Uncertainty and curiosity swirled in his features.
I held my breath. As we stared at each other for a moment that seemed like years at the time. Then like a monkey, he hoped down from the tree branch, and stood in front of me, scanning his scary eyes of me.
He was shorter than most boys at his age, and more petite. Small framed. He was a bit shorter than my five year old self as well. His eyes meeting my chin. With a serious expression and his brows twisting, as I stood complete still. Stunned. Finally he spoke. "What are you doing in my base?" He asked.
I blinked. His base? This was my backyard. It wasn't like I went in his yard, I was just admiring his tree that hung over my fence.
"This is my backyard. I just moved in." I stated, his eyes widened, as he looked over the yard again.
"No one has ever moved here in thousands of years. It's my base where I keep all my favorite things. You can't be here." He stated firmly. Crossing his small skinny arms over his pale torso in an annoyed fashion.
At the time I of course didn't know that house was only left ten years ago, but my young mind happened to believe him.
"Why a thousand years? Is it haunted?" I asked, a bit afraid. Allowing my eyes to leave his for a moment to gaze over my yard once more.
He blinked. Before stating. "Yes. Very. It's been penetrated with millions and millions of ghosts that were brought here from aliens that live on the planet Rurtain. They bring their dead here to live after."
"Oh no! Are they friendly?!" I asked, as fear started to run threw my innocent five year old mind.
After that, he had began to tell me about how he was the captain of that planet, and how only he was able to talk to his ghost friends. He told me that as long as his tree would stay health, alive, and if I would never touch it, no ghosts would ever bother me, or my family.
I agreed. And never touched his tree.
That was my first impression of Renegade.
