In the auditorium students looked on as the match was Jaune vs Cardin. Things weren't looking good for Jaune, and you had the gut feeling that something may go wrong.

Y/N: (whispers) Rubeo, get ready to drop a textbook.

Ruby: (whispers) Why?

Y/N: I have a feeling that Cardin will go too far if you get what I mean.

Ruby: What are you going to do?

Motioning to your side Ruby was shocked to see your sidearm.

Ruby: I thought we can't bring our weapons with us?

Y/N: My talk with Ozpin allowed me to have my sidearm. Well what I am allowed to have on my person except my main weapons.

Ruby: Why would he allow that?

Y/N: Well I still would've regardless of what he told. That and he mentioned how my dad sent a message detailing some certain needs. Special conditions given the circumstances.

Ruby: I can see why but it's still odd.

Y/N: I have a hazmat suit. That alone shows what Ozpin has to take special precautions of. Besides there's something with him.

Ruby: That reminds me when I first met him. He talked about my silver eyes.

Y/N: Hmmm. Odd but they do look nice. As for Ozpin you don't just become the youngest headmaster for nothing. He isn't the same as others. Another would have denied me but he does it.

Ruby: I guess you're right. Then again we've only seen Beacon.

Y/N: I have my own personal theory. Ozpin either finds these things amusing or there's a teaching moment. Though you want to know the oddest part?

Ruby: What?

Y/N: Well during that talk it was kinda like poking in his mind. Interesting person. Well the strange thing was he put more resistance of allowing to have my hat indoors than Red.

Ruby: Well you kinda aren't suppose to.

Y/N: I have seen pictures of my dad and his squad. One even went so far as to have a gas mask and paratrooper helmet. In fact if you look at this you'll see (pulls out scroll). Wait just in case (covers her mouth).

Ruby: Mphm. (gets mouth uncovered) What are you doing?

Y/N: I'm not taking any chances that you'll geek out over the weapon.

Ruby: Oh it can't be th (sees the picture) OH MY (gets mouth covered again).

Y/N: See.

Ruby: Fine. You were right but can I see it later?

Y/N: Sure. I even have the schematic and the weapon blueprints to look at.

Ruby: Why would you even have it in the first place?

Y/N: Can't say even to you.

Ruby: But we're friends.

Y/N: I'm doing you a favor by not. You kinda let things out without knowing it.

Ruby: Uh eh wait... Yeah you know me too well.

At that moment you both heard the distinct noise of Jaune being knocked to the ground. You attach the suppressor and loaded in the shock rounds. Ruby held the textbook.

Ruby: Rats. We missed a lot of the battle.

Y/N: Sadly we know the outcome.

Ruby: Yeah but I like to at least thing it will turn out different.

Y/N: It would take a miracle.

Ruby: It sucks that suppressors don't work like they do in video games. Then I wouldn't have to do this.

Y/N: We can switch places.

Ruby: Hmfh?

Y/N: Just one round is all it takes.

Ruby: (grabs Red) For Jaune. Wait should I be worried? Like some of your gadgets.

Y/N: It would take a full magazine to pierce someone's aura. (thoughts) Probably should get an extended magazine for it.

Ruby: And how do you know?

Y/N: I tested it. Also I suggest to put it under my backpack so people won't see.

Grabbing your backpack it would have been a lie if Ruby did not wondered what you meant by testing it. Not wanting to find out Ruby did not press it further.

Y/N: Shock rounds. Low yield.

Ruby: Did you prepare for this?

Y/N: Yes. I had a run in with him. Make sure to grab the bullet casing.

Looking back to the duel you both see Jaune's shield fly off with him with it. Surprisingly he lasted longer than what you expected. Even if it was bad Jaune look like he was not ready to admit defeat.

Armed only with his sword left Jaune presses on. Sword and mace lock Cardin overpowers Jaune, standing over him triumphantly.

Cardin: This is the part you loose.

Jaune: Over my dead-

Jaune was kneed in the gut. Right as Cardin raised his mace you drop the textbook. Ruby shot the one shock round as everyone looked over to you.

Y/N: It slipped out of my hands.

Everyone turned back to the stage as they all saw Cardin kneeling. Not knowing what has happened they assumed the fight took a lot more out of him.

Glynda: Ahem. Now that the abrupt scene is over Y/N I can talk. Students as you can see...

Her words were drowned out as Ruby tug at your shirt. You shook your head as you could not grab it at this time. After her speech class was over and it was on to lunch.

Y/N: (walking and then suddenly stops)

Ruby: Now?

Y/N: Yup (holsters Red).

Ruby: It slipped out of my hand. Really?

Y/N: It was stupid enough to make it sound believable. So far from what I'm seeing I may be the only one with a backpack.

Ruby: Yeah but they don't know what it has. If you didn't have those gadgets you wouldn't be wearing one.

Y/N: You're right on that. They may actually think I'm carrying snacks.

Ruby: Can we go to lunch. I'm hungry.

Y/N: Then use your semblance R.

Ruby: (laughs) R?

Y/N: I am going to use your actual name for this. Ruby, you know how hard it it to make your nicknames at times? Your name simply has two syllables. I think my next ones will be Rubyrube or Rubaroni.

Ruby: (grabs Y/N's hand) Let's go!

Meeting up with your friends you sat at your table. Forgetting a drink you got up but not before everybody starting saying what they wanted as well.

Y/N: Who asked for water?

Ren: Me.

Y/N: Strawberry soda?

Ruby: Me!

Y/N: Screw it. I'm just going to put it in the middle and y'all can grab it. What did I miss?

Weiss: It's not good.

Pyrrha: We were discussing about Jaune's problems with Cardin.

Yang: He's in denial.

Jaune: No I'm not.

Nora: Didn't we all have flashbacks for was that just me?

Grabbing out your knife you began cutting up piece of apple before eating it.

Y/N: Want me take care of him? It can even be mild if you want. Tear gas maybe?

Pyrrha: Y/N!

Y/N: What?

Jaune: No. No thanks.

In the edge of your field of vision you see how Cardin is staring at you. Turning, facing him a throat slitting gesture was done.

Ren: Was that really necessary?

Before you could respond you all heard cries coming from the same direction.

Cardin: (pulling Velvet's ears) See! I told ya they were real.

Y/N: (pulls out backpack) Ugh.

Weiss: What are you planning?

Y/N: (pulls out blinder firefly) Watch.

Throwing it the blinder firefly heads towards Cardin blinding him just long enough for the student to escape. Velvet looks to see where it came from only to see you waving. She waves before leaving.

Blake: Thank you.

Y/N: No problem. You see that is the thing with people like Cardin.

Grabbing another blinder firefly you throw it
in the air. They all as it flew in circles around you until landing on the palm of your hand.

Ruby: (shakes in excitement) I'm still not used to your gadgets.

Ren: It's nice seeing you didn't go too far.

Y/N: As I was saying that is the thing with people like Cardin. Sometimes you have to-

Nora: BREAK THEIR LEGS!

Y/N: Sure. They can't be reasoned with. Take me for instance. By association of me hanging with Jaune they thought I am easy pickings.

Jaune: Sorry about that.

Y/N: Don't be. One badabing badaboom later it was taken care of.

Ruby: I'm almost afraid to ask what.

Nora: I'm not.

Weiss: Sometimes I find Y/N's methods to be questionable.

Y/N: They're effective aren't they not?

Pyrrha: No one said that Y/N. We're simply saying that if we used an alignment chart you would be chaotic good.

Yang: He would be- Wait I'm not good with the alignment chart.

Y/N: I did nothing wrong. All I did was grab one of my fragmentation grenades and faked pulling the pin while dropping it. Then again after he saw it was not actually going to blow I did told him I was not afraid to pull it.

Weiss: So how is it that you get these again? I'm still having trouble with it.

Y/N: I kill something and sometimes it just appears.

Ren: Like magically?

Y/N: I don't know. It kinda freaks me out but it's free so take it what it is. Okay now Jaune.

Jaune: Yeah.

Y/N: Sorry for sidelining you but you get my point.

Jaune: It's okay.

Taking one look around the table you give off a sadistic smile that didn't help your case.

Y/N: Sure I could've hurt him but doing it in the mind seemed fitting.

Blake: (looks up from book) Should we ask what part of your training was it this time?

Y/N: Oh this one was from training in both the mind and the body.
 
Nora: Go on.

Ren: It doesn't sound so bad. Even pleasant. (sees your reaction) It isn't is it?

Y/N: No, not at all. My dad asked beforehand if I wanted to go through with it. I simply said that I wanted to train like he did.

You saw how they looked worried with Ruby looking the most worriedly due to her nature and how this was the only times she saw you like this. There was this side she got to know  and the one she was learning.

Ruby: Why would you do that? You had the option to not.

Y/N: I'll tell you later. Though don't worry. I have all of you to help my psyche and balance out my life. Like last week Ruby showed me a funnel cake. It was my first time trying one.

Ruby: It was funny how you looked the first time you tried it.

Yang: And the time I accidentally punched you through a tree.

Y/N: That did hurt.

Yang: Yeah sorry about that.

Y/N: We all had our own way of getting here. Would I change mine? Nope. It is what made me, me.

While the group did agree Jaune looked down as he remembers how he got into Beacon.

As the day passes you were just minding your business doing your homework until you hear the door opening.

Ruby: Y/N.

Y/N: (stops) Oh hi Rubyrube.

You saw how Ruby was fidgeting a bit as she messes with her fingers as they touched each other in a nervous manner.

Y/N: Something wrong?

Ruby: Oh no.

Y/N: Oh it's what I said earlier. You see I did it because my dad told me how agents did get captured. People went out of their way to and given how we are most chooses to die. (sighs) They knew what was at stake.

Ruby: What!? No it wasn't that.

Y/N: Oh.

Ruby: Don't do that.

Y/N: Ruby, in the event I do I will try to hold out as long as I can. Would I tell them for the sweet release of death? I like to think not but if it means that nothing bad will happen that will give me something to hold on. It will give me a reason to hold out.

Ruby: Nooooo.

Y/N: It wasn't that wasn't it?

Ruby: No.

Y/N: At least I got a cool watch out of all of it. Though for some reason it cannot tell time. I should probably do something about that.

Ruby: Remember first day? Then we got too busy to do it.

Y/N: Oooh. You mean the weapons. Well I haven't changed my mind.

Grabbing your weapons you two head off to the academy's shooting range. It was empty given the time but you saw it as a plus.

Y/N: (gives Ashes) Okay so my TAC-50 C rifle like I promised.

Grabbing Ashes Ruby looks through its scope before stopping.

Ruby: Huh. I thought it would be you know more futuristically.

Y/N: You don't see what I see. When I aim at enemies I see a marker above their head. That and what type of enemy they are. Then how it also highlights weak points.

Ruby: Woah. Crescent Rose does have a lot to live up to.

Y/N: I've seen the way you are. Like you said with weapons being the extension of who we are. Crescent Rose is meant for you. As such you utilize it your way. I use my weapons my way and vice versa it won't be as good.

Ruby smiles at your comment as most people would ignore those comments thinking that it went to far.

Ruby: I want to shoot this.

Y/N: Have at it.

Ruby: (shoots) It has a kick to it alright.

Y/N: I'm sure you're used to it. Now shoot it while holding it.

Ruby: What? Isn't it a sniper so what gives.

Y/N: Oh it is but I made it so I didn't have to be prone in mind.

Ruby: Alright.

Firing at the target Ruby flew back but you expecting this was behind to catch her.

Y/N: Ah right. You use recoil in your fighting style.

Ruby: Thanks. Now try mine.

Y/N: (grabs Crescent Rose) Alright.

Quickly aiming you fired at the target's head nailing it.

Y/N: Huh. Interesting.

Ruby: Sooooo?

You said nothing but examine Ruby's weapon before you transform it into its other form.

Y/N: I actually used a scythe once before.

Ruby: Really?

Y/N: Lost my weapons in battle and I had to use a weapon from a Huntsman. Sadly he was struck down. Let's move to a more open area.

The next room over was more meant for this kind of practice. The kind that just was not shooting but movement as well.

Y/N: Let's see. Ruby.

Ruby: Yeah?

Y/N: I need your other type of ammunition. You know because of the weight difference.

Ruby: Are you going to use the recoil also?

Y/N: After the fight my dad asked if I wanted to train with a different weapon. He said how he could find a scythe user to train me.

Ruby: You said no.

Y/N: Yup. It would've took too long to train. Even though I'm willing to it wouldn't make much sense given how I lived. That's even if he found one as you know what happened to the other.

Ruby: (hands a magazine) Here.

Y/N: (breaths in and out) Okay.

Three targets sprung from the floor. Taking a final breath you then use the Crescent Roses's recoil to propel yourself forward you quickly slashed at the target midair.

Upon touching the ground you immediately combat rolled to get just close enough to the second target to slash at it before throwing the scythe, nailing the third target's head.

Ruby: WOW! YOU DID IT!

Y/N: (walks to grab Crescent Rose) It was a simple tactic. If anything I was hoping that once I threw your scythe it would nail it and not hit it with the opposite end.

Ruby: That last part did surprise me.

Y/N: I am not going to lie. That entire time I thought I was going to stab myself. It is one of the more dangerous weapons.

Ruby: Well it won't be for you soon. We can train with it and I can show you to better use a scythe if you want.

Y/N: Sure. Want to make a smiley face with our weapons?

Ruby: Do I!

Y/N: Okay you make the circle.

Ruby: You make the mouth.

Y/N: Then you do the eyes.

Ruby: And you make both the eyebrows and monocle.

Y/N: Ready?

Ruby: Yup.

You two began firing trying to make a smiley face with a monocle. A minute later you look at the target in all its glory.

Y/N: Wait. Forgot the pupil.

Grabbing out Red you shoot in the eye before you two took a few steps back to admire it.

Ruby: It's beautiful in its own shooty way.

Y/N: Yeah.

Ruby: I was serious about showing you how to use a scythe.

Y/N: Well we got two hours.
