Chapter Four

Lynn's POV

I woke up in bed and rolled onto my other side with my eyes closed. I felt like someone was there so I opened them and was apparently face to face with Cade.

"Ugh, Cade! What are you doing in here?!" I yelled at him and he got up.

"Waiting for you to wake up. I got bored because Zoe left to go spy on that one guy." Cade told me and I rolled my eyes.

I got out of bed and grabbed clothes from my chest of drawers.

"Yeah because that really gives you a reason to be creepy and watch me sleep and-" He cut me off as I turned around.

"And make you breakfast?" He asked me.

My eyes glanced down at the food he had laid out on a tray for me. Chocolate chip pancakes, bacon, and eggs. How cliche.

"Wow. You made that?" I asked him and he nodded. I put my clothes down and took the tray from him. "What is this for?" I raised an eyebrow.

"For letting me stay here. I know I've been a pain and Zoe and I don't exactly get along all the time, but I just wanted to say thank you." He told me and I slightly smiled at him.

I walked off to the table and sat down, and he joined me by sitting across from me.

"So, may I ask, why are you staying with me?" I asked him, curiously.

"Well, you're the only one who really talks to me, other than Zoe now. I tried staying with other Ghosts, but they were depressing, always talking about the life that they used to have. I needed someone who wasn't like that, someone who was.. alive.. to make me feel alive too," He told me, sincerely. "And also who could see me, so you know, it wasn't a one sided conversation." He added with a smirk, making me laugh.

"Well, I don't understand, Cade. Why don't you just pass through then?" I asked him and Cade was hesitating to answer.

"I-" Cade began but was cut off by Zoe coming in.

"You know, that guy is too cute. He was with his girlfriend and he took her out on this really thought out date, every detail was perfect, and.. oh, sorry. Did I walk into a serious conversation?" Zoe asked and Cade shook his head with a smile.

"No, uh, we just finished up. Anyways, I'm gonna go take a walk. Enjoy your breakfast, Lynn." Cade said and I watched him suspiciously as he walked away.

Zoe came up to me, confused.

"What's wrong with him?" Zoe asked and I shrugged.

"Not sure." I replied.

"Anyways.." Zoe carried on to talk about the guy she loves spying on and I'm still curious about who he is. She talks about him like she likes him, but other times, she talks about him like he's her son. It's a bit weird if you ask me.

I sighed as I kept looking to my front door, waiting for Cade to get back. Honestly, I was worried that he wasn't coming back.

"He'll be back, and you know, he is a Ghost, so he might not come walking through the front door." Zoe said and I scoffed at her pun before sighing.

"I'm just.. worried." I said and she shrugged.

"What is there to worry about? Nothing can happen to him." She stated.

"I know that, but I'm just worried that he won't come back." I told her, honestly.

"Are you kidding me? Have you really not noticed?" She asked me and I gave her a confused look.

"Noticed, what?" I asked her and she chuckled.

"Hun, for someone who can see Ghosts, you see right through them." She said and I rolled my eyes.

"What's your point, Zo?" I asked her.

"He likes you, and I don't mean as a friend." She told me and I raised an eyebrow.

"Funny, joke, Zoe. Ha ha," I said, sarcastically and she gave me a 'I'm being serious' expression. "Wait, you're not joking?" She shook her head.

"I'm being dead serious," She said, and I sighed in annoyance from her puns. "Sorry. Okay, I'm being serious." She corrected herself.

"Yeah, but it wouldn't work. That would be like being in a long distance relationship. He's here, but he's not really here." I explained to her and she sighed.

"I don't know then." She shrugged. She looked at the time and stood up. "I've actually gotta get going." She stood up.

"Zoe, wait a second. That guy you're always visiting.. who is he?" I finally asked and she smiled.

"That's my son." She replied before walking away.

Her son.. now it makes sense.

I decided not to wait up for Cade anymore after that and went straight to bed. I stared at my ceiling before pulling my covers up and switching my lamp off. I sighed as I snuggled into my silky sheets and soft comforter.

I thought that I would just fall straight to sleep but I didn't. I kept thinking about Cade. As much as I didn't want to admit it, I've become fond of him myself. I blame the British accent.

"Lynn!" I heard Cade's voice from the living room.

I hopped up and ran to the living room to see him there. He smiled at me.

"Hey, sorry, did I wake you?" He asked me and I shook my head.

"No. I was actually waiting up for you." I told him and he smiled warmly.

"Oh. You didn't have to do that. And sorry I took so long." He apologized.

"Oh, that's okay." I waved him off.

"I um.. Lynn, I actually need to talk to you about something." He told me, sternly.

"Oh.. what's up?" I asked him, stepping closer to him.

"I'm a Ghost Seeker."
