Chapter Twenty-Five
The last thing Althea needed was dealing with a prince of hell. She wished that there was some way to stop the demon from attacking, but they needed to get away. If they didn't get away things would not go so well.
Althea wasn't exactly thinking. She and Abigail stood between Mammon, Peter and Ezra. Together the girls knocked the demon back against the tree, giving all four of them a chance to escape and race for the dormitories. The arrived and the gang raced inside. Althea covered the crevices around their room with salt so the demon couldn't come through.
"Alright, now that we've somehow dealt with the demon," Althea said. "What are we going to do? We can't keep the demon from getting into this dorm room."
"Yeah, for all we know, she could try anything," Abigail responded.
"I never thought we were dealing with the seven sins, and therefore the princes of hell..." Peter said. "I knew little about them, even my friends. That was not what I'd pictured."
"Ezra? You seem quiet over there. Is there something you want to tell us?" Althea asked.
Ezra paused. Althea had felt that something was off with her angel ever since they interacted. She was worried about him, as if he was hiding something. "Are you hiding something?"
"Huh?" Ezra said. "What did you say?"
"I said. Are you hiding something?" Althea repeated. "Do you promise not to get mad if I told you the story?" Ezra asked for reassurance. The group nodded without hesitating. "Alright fine."
*~*~*
Telling his story wasn't what Ezra wanted to do. They should have been spending most of their time focusing on defeating Mammon. Since they didn't know what to do about the demon. Seeing him again, he really didn't want to think about it.
"I can't tell you everything," Ezra said. "This isn't my story, so I won't take over. But Mammon and I have a history." Before Althea could open her mouth to say something, Ezra turned to her. "No, not that kind of history. He is my sibling. But Mammon was amongst those who went against everything my father said, and join with Lucifer. If I'm right, then things are about to get nasty."
"Wait, what does that mean?" Abigail asked.
"It means that they'll move on to the next location," Peter explained. "Before I switched sides, there were plans—plans that I saw in a book and a map on the table. I can't quite recall everything, but I believe that they're going to all the ritual sites and summoning the other princes of hell."
Ezra knew all about it. He couldn't help but think about what his father and his brother said, that things were going to get a lot harder for everyone. Even if they're only there to help, things were going to get hard. Ezra worried he might not keep everyone safe, but he would not give up. The world needed to be protected and spared from Damnation. Besides, if he couldn't do it, then nobody could. All he could think about was protecting his charge and making sure that she understood her abilities.
*~*~*
"Then we need a plan," Peter said, deep in thought. "If we can't stop Mammon, then who knows how many of the demons they're planning to summon. Any ideas?"
Peter looked at Althea, Abigail, and Ezra, who were struggling with the idea of the demons getting summoned. Sometimes Peter wished he had never joined forces with the Servants of Evil. He only left to join them because Ezra had betrayed him and hurt the one closes to him.
But, he wanted to make up for everything that he said to the angel. Sure, he had told him to go back to Empyrean, but Peter was angry. Angry that everything he did made Ezra more worried than he already was. Now here Peter was, back with his angel. The only difference now is that he was with Althea, a newer and more special person than Peter ever was. Pushing his jealousy aside, he focused on the things ahead of him.
"If we can figure out what they plan to do, we can hunt him down and send him back to hell," Althea said.
"But that won't work," Abigail responded. "He's going to come back to earth and wreak havoc. I think we can go one better."
"And what do you propose we do?" Peter asked. He looked over at Ezra, who was deep in thought. He gasped like an idea came to him. "Ezra? What?"
"We can use a demon trap," Ezra responded.
"Um, this isn't supernatural. I thought that was a myth?" Althea asked.
"It's not, there are different types of demon traps. The one in the show doesn't exist, there is something similar to it," Ezra responded.
Peter knew what Ezra was talking about, in terms of the different demonic traps. There were traps that were in the form of three triangles crossed in front of each other, and even one with multiple slashes on it. He wondered which one they planned to use and where it was going to be used. After a thorough discussion about their plan, the group decided that they'd use the lines that crossed over each other.
"Are you sure this is going to work?" Peter asked. "Mammon is one of the strongest, aside from Lucifer. He doesn't get taken down so easily."
"Why did you say his name?!" Abigail exclaimed. "Don't say his name. It'll give him power!"
"Oh relax, buttercup," Peter said. "It's nothing serious."
"BUTTERCUP?!" Abigail exclaimed.
Out of the corner of his eye, Peter saw Ezra and Althea back up. He didn't think it was such a big deal, but then again, if Peter needed to hear more of her voice, he'd have to shoot himself.
"I am no one's buttercup, you asshole! Don't ever call me that again or I'll ruin your ability to have kids!"
