Chapter 2

"Code Purple! Code Purple!" I heard D.D. saying through the radio. "Code Purple" means that she has another plane of people and needs the hatch to be opened.

I walked across me and Elle's huge office and pushed the bright yellow button that was flashing which means that D.D. was closer than expected. As I was pushing the button Elle walked in the office and waited until she was right behind me to say, "What are you up to, girl?" This startled me and made me jump a little. With my hair standing on end I half-yelled at her, "Elle! Don't scare me like that! And I'm opening the hatch, D.D. is Code Purple."

"Oh, okay. Do you know if we have anyone around our age group this time?"

"No. Remember they stopped telling us because we kept bugging them about it?"

"Oh, that's right." Elle said with a smile on her face obviously remembering how we would repeatedly ask if there was anyone our age on the flights until we got in trouble and stopped being told. Now that I was thinking about it, I started smiling and soon we were both holding our sides from laughing so hard about those memories.

"Okay," I started still holding my side, "Come on lets go check out if there actually is anyone our age this time." She nodded her head and we started walking through the City Hall to go to the Station, still holding our sides and laughing about all the fun times we've had together.

As we showed up at the Station, I remembered the first day we were here and how confused I was about where we were. As Elle and me were standing on the platform looking around for anyone around our age I saw all the confused faces as people took off their blindfolds. Our hopes were quickly dwindling as all we were seeing were adults, small children, and babies.

"Anyone?" Elle asked. At the same time she asked this I saw a boy next to a girl with a mess of blonde wavy hair, they looked to be around our age, and related to each other.

"Yeah, far right corner." I said getting a little too excited. We started walking over to them and I got butterflies in my stomach from my excitement as we haven't gotten anyone around our age on a flight in a while. We were about five feet when the boy locked eyes with me and I could see that he had the same bright blue eyes as Elle.

Realizing that they boy was looking behind her the girl turned around, since she had her back to us, and smiled at us and her eyes were the same bright blue as Elle and the boy; and my anxiety set in as I was the only one without bright blue eyes instead I had bright green eyes outlined in black. Elle, that has become very accustomed to knowing when my anxiety kicks in, whispered in my ear, "Calm down. They shouldn't judge you. An if they do I'll kick them in the shins." With a small smile playing at my lips, I calmed down a little and Elle spoke up and said in a nice and excited tone, "Hi! I'm Elle..." I cut her off and finished the sentence, sounding more nervous than I wanted to, "And I'm Belle."

The girl spoke up and said with a smile on her face, "Hi Belle and Elle! I'm Hannah," she pointed at herself then at the boy and said, "And this is my twin brother Elliot!" She sounded even more excited than Elle. I didn't even know that it was possible to be more excited than Elle, I thought.

I spoke up before Elle catching her off guard as I usually let her talk and asked in the nicest tone I could force, "It's nice to meet you two! Would you like us to show you around?" Elle was staring at me wide eyed and astonished so I decided to give her a little kick to her foot to snap her out of her daze.

Elliot spoke up and said in a wobbly voice, "Yes, that would be awesome! Thank you!" Now Hannah was staring at Elliot and me with astonishment written on her face. Seriously, what is up with people looking at me astonished? Is there something on my face or my hair messed up? I unintentionally fixed my fair to cover my face a little.

Elle seen how uncomfortable I was and asked them, "Do you guys have your house card yet? If so we can show you where your house is and help you two unpack."

Hannah reached into her back pocket and pulled out a white card that I recognized as a house card and handed it over to me since I was closer, it read, '10F' meaning that they lived in row 10 house F. I gave it back to Hannah and asked, "Do you two need help with your luggage?"

"That would be nice if you two could help us, we don't have that many bags but it would still be helpful." Hannah said looking relieved to have someone to help them.

All four of us walked over to where all the luggage was, and Elle and I grabbed the two bright pink bags that Hannah pointed out to us, I figured they were Hannah's as her and Elliot grabbed two black bags.

We all had a bag when I spoke up "We'll show you the way to your house and help you unpack and if there is still time after that we can show you around, and also show you some of me and Elle's favorite places." Elle was staring at me obviously shocked by how much I'm talking as I usually don't talk this much to people other than her but was pulled out of her staring when Elliot asked curiously and putting quotation marks around what I said with his fingers, "What do you mean by 'if we still have time'?"

"At seven o'clock the lights go off and you aren't supposed to be out after they turn off as there is no light at all." Elle explained to answer his question.

"Well in that case we better get going," Hannah said. Elle and I started walking towards the exit with Hannah and Elliot following close behind when Elle quietly asked me, "What was that about?"

"What are you talking about?" I asked as quietly as Elle but clearly confused.

"Belle, I think you know what I'm talking about."

"If I did, don't you think I would have answered you when you asked me the first time?" I asked raising my voice a little and getting angry.

"That's true, but Belle you never talk that much unless you're talking to me, it's not normal for you to talk to people." She has a point. Doesn't she always have a point? Anyways, she doesn't understand what it is like to always have someone to talk for you because you are too coward to do it. The voices in my head were having an argument with each other.

"Well I decided that in order to make more friends I have to step out of my comfort zone." Lies. I didn't feel like having this kind of conversation with Elle so I turned my head to the side a little so I could see Hannah and Elliot and asked them, "So, how old are you two?"

"We are fifteen," Elliot said.

"That's cool, we are fifteen too, but if you are fifteen where are your parents? Don't you have to be eighteen to be on your own?" I asked, vaguely remembering that you have to be eighteen to live on your own.

At the mention of their parents, Hannah and Elliot stopped dead in their tracks, I turned to look at them and their bright blue eyes turned dark and were filled with hurt and I realized I shouldn't have asked that.

"Gosh! Why am I so stupid sometimes?" I said, accidentally thinking out loud while slapping my palm to my forehead which made an unusually loud slapping noise. I really need to work on not saying my thoughts out loud.

Elliot apparently seen how frustrated I got as he said, "It's alright, you had no way of knowing..." I held up my index finger in frustration to stop him from finishing his sentence.

"I could have at least guessed that something happened since you two came alone." I rambled while turning so my back was facing them to hide my embarrassment of being stupid for not guessing that something happened. I heard Elle say to Hannah and Elliot, "She's alright."

A cold hand was placed on my shoulder that was bare due to me wearing a tank top. The hand on my shoulder was instantly recognized as Elle's when she said, "Let's just forget that this happened, okay?" I mentally yelled at her, Easy for you to say, you don't remember every bad or embarrassing moment you have ever had!

Elle managed to turn around without me knowing but I was done mentally yelling in time to hear her ask Hannah and Elliot, "So where are you two from?" I've knew Elle long enough to know when she actually cares and when she is just doing something for my sake, and right know she is just asking for my sake.

"We are from California!" Hannah said happily, obviously catching on to what Elle was trying to do, which was to change the subject.

Putting on a fake smile I said, "That's cool! We are from Florida!" by the way that Hannah and Elliot looked at me I could tell that they didn't believe me.

Seriously I know that I'm very pale and all but I would not lie about where I'm from. Suddenly feeling very offended that they didn't believe me. By this time we were at row 9 so we didn't have that much longer of a walk so we walked the rest of the way in silence as no one tried to start a conversation.

We turned down row 10 and after two minutes of looking at the similar two-story designs of the houses, we reached house F. Elliot opened the door for us three girls and as I walked into the house, saying thank you to Elliot as I passed him, I got the same feeling I got walking into my house here in Aneuro the first time. I felt out of place.
