☆\\ Chapter Twenty

~A  W E E K   L A T E R~

After submitting all my assignments in one hour, I had nothing else to do than sit in the living room and watch a movie. Avan was at school and my parents were at work which meant that I was alone.

I chose to watch 'Alchemy of Souls' which was surprisingly interesting at the very first episode. Imagine living in a world where you had powers to do what you want and no one looks down on you. Imagine being the most powerful amongst all mages in the Songrim kingdom!.

I was too enthralled by this series.

I paused the TV before leaving the living room and head towards the kitchen. I ate earlier but a small snack doesn't hurt anyone. I opened the cupboard and took out a bag of potato chips before closing the door.

I tore the top of the bag and empty its contents in a small bowl. I took one in my mouth enjoying how sweet it was. I was about to take up another one when I noticed a figure passing by the kitchen window.

I stayed still wondering if what I saw was actually there or was I being paranoid. I got my answer when I heard a knock on the front door. I went to the knife drawer and took out the sharpest one and held it to my chest. My heart was pounding against my ribcage as I thought about what to do next.

Who was at the door and what did they want?.

There was another knock and I moved from the kitchen and into the living room. I wasn't going to open the door without knowing who it was. Not only was I without a hand but I couldn't fight if it was someone dangerous.

I let my legs carry me towards the front door. I peered through the small hole in the door and noticed a man standing there. I couldn't make out his face but he was dressed in a black shirt and dark blue jeans. I didn't see any weapons in his hands but that didn't really mean anything.

I shrieked and jumped back when I heard the door handle rattling. Was he trying to break in?. I backed away slowly as I tried to control my breathing. I heard him chuckle as the door clicked and then it opened.

There infront of me stood a guy who was way too tall for comfort. His eyes were a dark shade of brown which complimented his blonde hair. He had a tattoo on his neck and also on his hand. I swallowed as a smirk formed on his face.

"Hi gorgeous, are you going to invite me in?", he said in a voice that sent shivers down my entire spine.

I held the knife tighter trying not to show how scared I was. I didn't know why he wasn't entering the house. He seemed to be stuck at the doorway and can't go any further.

"W-who are you?", I asked feeling stupid for stuttering. He only smirked wider before crossing his arms over his chest.

"I'm your worst nightmare angel. If you let me in I can turn it into a wonderful dream", he replied before releasing a lengthy laugh.

"What do you want with me?", I asked not taking my eyes off him for a split second.

"Hmmm, let me guess...Your blood", he said before revealing his fangs. I gasped and took a huge step back.

He was a vampire.

But how was that possible?. Aren't they suppose to be afraid of the sun?. This didn't make any sense to me. Once a vampire enters the sun they turn to dust but he seemed to be perfectly alright.

"Come on angel, I don't have much time. Just one taste and I'll leave you alone. Invite me in", he said as his voice got dangerously low. I didn't have much knowledge of the supernatural world but for vampires they had to be invited in. He couldn't enter my house without an invitation.

"You can't come in without an invitation. I suggest you leave me alone", I replied not feeling as scared as I was earlier. He couldn't enter through any door in my house or even the window. That seemed to piss him off because his eyes turned a very dark shade of red.

"Dane?"

Both our heads to turn to the sound of the voice. I glanced over his shoulder and saw the one person I wasn't expecting.

Clyde.

He was standing there with a serious expression on his face as he eyed the man who he called Dane.

Wait - he knows him?

"Ah brother, didn't expect to see you here. Why don't you invite me in?", Dane said before I saw Clyde glance over his shoulder at me. Our eyes met and he pushed past Dane and came in. I held the knife out, stopping him in his tracks.

"Lina, I'm not going to hurt you ok?. Did Dane lay a hand on you?", he asked glaring at the vampire. He only rolled his eyes and placed his hands on his hips.

"Stay away from me Clyde. I know you're working with him", I said eyeing the two suspiciously. If I let my guard down both of them will attack me and I wasn't going to let that happen.

"I'm not working with him ok?. He's my half brother and I fucking loathe him!"

I shivered at Clyde's sudden outburst. Dane didn't seemed fazed as he continued to stare at me a small smile playing on his lips.

"Tsk. You've always loathed me just because dad favored me more. But that isn't important right now. I want a taste of her blood so be a good mutt and invite me in", he replied as his nails elongated into claws.

Clyde growled as he shot his brother a dirty look. I didn't know if I should trust him or not but he wasn't attacking me or seemed he was planning to.

"I rather not. I suggest you leave before I tear your fucking heart out!", Clyde shouted not taking his eyes off Dane.

"You know she's special, you know what her blood can do".

My eyes furrowed in confusion at what Dane just said. My gaze was completely on him now as a wide smirk danced on his lips. What did he meant by me being special?. I wasn't a supernatural being and if I was I would've known from I was born. I wanted to know what he was talking about so I lowered my knife and took a few steps closer.

"What do you mean by that?", I asked but he only chuckled and started rubbing his chin.

"Hmmm, you're a-

-THAT'S ENOUGH!", Clyde shouted making me jump in my tracks.

Dane only laughed in a very sadistic way before stepping back. I watched as his eyes turned blood red and his fangs lengthen even more. He knew something and I was too curious to not try and find out what it was. But seeing the situation before my eyes, I knew something bad was going to happen.

"Lina, go to your room", Clyde said but I stayed glued in my spot. There was no way I could walk away not knowing what Dane meant by me being special. This wasn't something you brush off easily and forget about.

"It's been a long time brother, but you won't get in the way of what I want", Dane growled before I saw Clyde ripping the shirt off his body.

I felt myself moving backwards as I witnessed Clyde transforming into his wolf form. His wolf was large and had a mixture of grey and black. His teeth bared as he growled at Dane who was waiting for whatever was to come.

Even someone with half a brain could sense that they were going to fight. And it won't be one with a pretty outcome.

With a howl, I watched as Clyde pounced and attacked Dane. A rush of wind came and slammed the door shut. I wasn't seeing the fight but I knew it was deadly from the sounds and growls. Will they really kill each other even though they are brothers?.

I still didn't have any clue as to why Dane said I was special and if Clyde does kill him I will never know.

I slid down the floor and clutched the side of my head. I didn't know what was happening but my body started to feel weak. My eyes were beginning to shut down and I forced myself to keep them wide open. I couldn't black out now especially with everything that's going on.

I went lower until I was lying directly on my side. I couldn't concentrate as my body started to lose its life. My fingers felt numb. My eyes were burning. My heart was racing too fast.

I heard the sound of the front door being opened before I completely blacked out.
