Chapter 19
I felt really groggy this morning and it wasn't funny that Bellamy was teasing me.
"Still can't believe you punched him," Bellamy smiled as he brought my soup over to me.
"Shit happens," I shrugged blowing on my soup.
"Here, " Bellamy walked over to me holding something in his hand "You left your phone down here last night,"
"Thanks." I muttered, taking my phone from him. Unlocking it I read a text message from Nathan.
'Call me. Now.'
I had about thirteen missed calls all from him. I dialed back his number as Bellamy grabbed the medical kit to bandage up my hand. He picked up on the third ring.
"Why didn't you call me last night." He said sternly.
"I was tired." I muttered frowning a little. Jeeze someone was grumpy.
"That's not an excuse."
"Well pardon me! After everything that happened last night I didn't think calling you was my main priority." I raised my voice and hung up throwing my phone on the sofa beside me.
"He's just angry at himself because he wasn't there with you when it happened." Bellamy said strolling over with a bandage.
"Well its none of his business." I huffed.
"Gretch, he is your boyfriend."
"I can take care of myself," I rolled my eyes.
"I know that ok? Just chill." He spoke as he took my hand, a little too roughly.
"Ouch!" I moaned.
"Sorry..." He shot me an apologetic look. "Mum and Dad will be here later."
"Oh shit!" I cursed. I totally forgot that our parents were coming to stay, they only visited out of pity for leaving us. The up side was that they gave us money and limited edition gifts from New York or something like that. "They're going to be pissed when they find out about my hand."
"We won't tell them then," Bellamy shrugged as he finished bandaging my wrist. "Just say you walked into a door."
"I'm not that stupid!" I frowned at my brother.
"Well you are really." He smirked as he skillfully dodged a cushion I threw at him. "Just catch some sleep Gretch, before they arrive."
Nodding I snuggled against the blanket I had and laid down on the sofa and soon drifted off to sleep again.
***
I woke to the sound of a doorbell, I jolted upright.
"Gretch! Brace yourself." Bellamy said as he headed for the door.
"Jesus Christ...." I mumbled throwing the blanket to the floor and straightening out my clothes and flattening my hair. Bellamy opened the door to reveal my parents.
"Hi Mum, Dad." Bellamy nodded.
"Hello darling, you can get our luggage from the taxi," she waved her hand about as she stepped into the house. Her brunette bob cut bounced as she walked, she looked like she's just come out of a meeting with her black pencil skirt and matching blazer almost covering up her yellow silk shirt underneath. I remember I bought it for her birthday three months ago.
"Mum," I plastered my face with a smile.
"You look tired sweetie," she spoke as she placed her expensive hand bag on the kitchen counter.
"Jeeze thanks Mum." I rolled my eyes as I moved over to hug her.
"Sorry sweetie, I do worry." She hugged me back tightly, I wish she was more caring all the time. "It's lovely to see you."
"Come here Gretchen," my Dad held out his arms and I ran to him as he lifted me up a little. His black hair flopped across his eyes as he placed me down, his black suit made him look very dapper and the red tie looked amazing on him. "Missed you."
"Missed you too." I smiled. Bellamy came back in with four luggage bags.
"Where they going?" He asked.
"Just by the door," Dad nodded and Bellamy dumped the bags where he was told. I watched as Bellamy hugged our parents tightly an arm slung over each of them.
"So what are we having for dinner?" I asked. Trust me to have food on my mind.
"Was thinking we would call Chinese in." Dad winked remembering my food habits well.
"Crispy duck here I come!" I sung.
***
"You have a girlfriend yet Bellamy?" Mum asked.
"Muuum..." He moaned.
"Honestly Jenifer, give the boy a break." Dad chuckled.
"No come on son, is there a lucky lady?" Mum pressed for answers, I scoffed and tried to stop myself from laughing, Bellamy shot me a glare but then smirked.
"No but Gretch has a boyfriend." He smirked. He literally just chucked me down the deep end so much so that I nearly choked on my own spit.
"No....I...don't!" I blurted out between coughs.
"Gretchen!" Mum squealed. I think my eardrums just burst.
"Do we have to talk about this stuff?" Dad complained.
"I'm with Dad on this one." I agreed.
"Well I'm with Mum." Bellamy smirked.
"I hate you." I shot at him.
"Love you too sis." He winked.
"What's his name?" Mum asked. Seriously didn't want to go down this path tonight.
"Nathan..." I sighed.
"Have you got a picture?"
"No Mum! Stalker much!"
"Well you have to ask these things as a mother." She smiled. The doorbell rang interrupting the awkward situation.
"I'll get it!" Bellamy shot up and darted to the door. There were a few minutes of silence till Bellamy called out. "It's for you Gretch!"
"Thank God!" I muttered under my breath as I stood and headed for the door. Bellamy wiggled his eyebrows at me as he went back to sit down.
"Nathan..." I whispered as I saw his beautiful figure on the doorstep.
"Listen Gretch, I'm sorry for what happened on the phone earlier... I was just worried about you." He ran a hand through his hair and rested it at the back of his neck as if he were nervous. God I love it when he does that.
"No Nathan there's no need to apologise, I snapped at you and I'm sorry." I smiled sheepishly.
"So we both good?" He smiled his boyish grin.
"More than good." I smiled back as I stepped out into the summer evening air to hug my gorgeous boyfriend.
"Gretch, we're dishing up!" Mum shouted to me.
"Shit!" I muttered throwing my head back.
"Oh fuck! I forgot your parents were here for today," Nathan cursed.
"It's fine," I smiled, "You just don't want to get roped into anyth-"
"Gretchen what are you- oh..." She stopped mid sentence and grinned. "Are you Nathan?" She pointed to him.
"Yes Ma'am." Nathan shot her a perfect smile and I swear I saw her blush a little.
"So your the famous boy that's swept my Gretchen off her feet." She smiled.
"Oh God Mum...please just no." I face palmed.
"Shhh honey," she shut me up and turned her attention back to Nathan. "Well you can call me Jenifer," she smiled.
"Nice to meet you Jenifer." Nathan smiled.
"Nathan why don't you come in and meet my husband."
"I'd love to." He chuckled lightly and stepped in shutting the door behind him.
"This way!" Mum beckoned us. Taking Nathan's arm I pulled him down so I could whisper in his ear.
"I apologise now for everything." I sighed as he looked at me with amusement written all over his face. He was rolling in it.
"Carl, this is Nathan." My Mum introduced them. Nathan outstretched a hand to my Dad and he took it firmly.
"Nice to meet you Mr.Rousso." He was so smooth. Damn him.
"Likewise Nathan, please call me Carl." Dad nodded in appreciation.
"So Nathan do you have any family?" Mum asked. Oh my God.
"I do, I have a mother, father and three brothers." He smiled "Used to be quite hectic when we were younger," he joked.
"It's still hectic now." I laughed a little, all eyes were on me. Bellamy was smirking so much at me.
"You've met Nathan's family Gretchen?" Mum asked.
"They had me for dinner..." I answered.
"That's very kind of your family, thank you Nathan." My mother thanked him.
"Our pleasure." He smiled before smiling down at me, and I couldn't help but smile back. "It's been a pleasure to meet you all but I should get going." He nodded.
"Of course Nathan, lovely meeting you." Mum beamed. Jesus she was staring at him like sunshine was pouring out of his arsehole.
"And you," Nathan nodded to both my parents, "Later Bellamy." He waved and my brother waved back. Nathan tugged on my hand and I walked him to the door.
"I'm soooo sorry." I huffed, somehow I knew this would happen.
"Gretch, its fine. It was nice meeting your parents." He smiled as he took both my hands in his.
"Shame they're not around all the time." I rolled my eyes.
"You have us." He said, obviously meaning himself and his family.
"I know." I smiled.
"Well I should get home," he smiled as he quickly planted a gentle but firm kiss on my lips.
"Okay," I whispered as he started walking backwards.
"I call you."
"You better." I laughed as I watched him turn round and walk till he was out of sight. With a huge grin on my face I returned back to my family.
"He's wonderful Gretchen! I'm glad." Mum beamed.
"He seems very respectable." Dad nodded in agreement. Well at least they liked him.
"So how's school sweetie?" Mum asked me changing the subject as she laid out plates on the dinner table.
"It's fine," I shrugged as I shoved some noodles in my mouth from a plate which Dad was currently piling up. "I'm all on track and everything, so I gue-"
"What did you do to your hand!" Mum screeched.
"Um, walked into a door." I nervously glanced at Bellamy.
"Honestly honey, I know you too well." She shook her head. Something in my head clicked, she didn't know me. She barely knows me at all.
"You don't know me." I spoke.
"Excuse me?" She put down the cutlery with a clatter.
"Your never here so how do you know me." I shrugged.
"Now Gretchen..." Dad begun.
"No Carl." Mum held her hand up. "Listen young lady this is our careers on the line if we don't go away on our business trips."
"And we're your children!" I frowned.
"Less of your cheek young lady!" She shouted.
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes as I made my way upstairs to my room and slammed the door. Brilliant. Just brilliant.
