Chapter Three
I released a breath I'd been holding the entire fifty-three minutes as I made my way out of last period, already thinking of the earful I was going to give my mom when she came to pick me up. I'm ahead in almost all my classes, making it pretty boring for me to have to sit through their lectures and a struggle to not fall asleep and die from choking on my own drool. The only thing that kept me from doing just that is how angry my mom would be if she had to tell people how embarrassingly I died.
I made a few friends after meeting "the jerk with no name." Jamie, who I met in science nearly cracked her face open when she saw me and instandtly knew I was new. Saying everybody pretty much grew up with the whole town and that they were excited to have someone to spice things up. I politely said I wasn't much of a cook, she laughed so loud that I had to hold back both an eyes roll and a heavy sigh. Great, I'm going to be the outsider of people who have no normal sense of humor.
Then I met Rachel in English, I mean, we didn't really meet. She asked me for a pencil and I said sure, and I found out her name from looking on her paper when she leaned down to pull something out of her bookbag. She seemed kind of nice though, said thank you when I gave her the writing tool and remebered to give it back at the end of class but I told her to keep it. I think we'll be good friends in the near fututre though, I can just tell. Or maybe I'll just continue some light stalking, either way.
And lastly I met Monique, whose name I'm pretty sure isn't Monique since I later learned is only her "French" name. I'm mean, seriously? Is the teacher trying to make it hard for me to make friends? She gave me a long list to choose from in the beginning of class. I still haven't chosen, deciding this was something I'll have to think on. I'm debating between Pierre and Victor.
And thank the lord and all his glory that I was able to avoid going to my locker for the rest of the day because seriously, if I had to talk to one more smirking bastard I will have to whip out some of the skills I learned from all those kickboxing videos I binged watched in anticipation of High School. And I have to say, I'm extremely disappointed that I didn't witness a single fight all day.
I leaned against a tree, waiting to spot my moms Honda civic in the parent traffic. I bet she stopped to buy a cake to celebrate my first day at school. Fingers crossed it's vanilla.
"Hey, you're new right?" I looked to my left and was met with three girls that resembled the cast from Mean Girls. They had the blond hair, glossy lips, and matching colored cloths. I froze. Am I going to join their ranks, be betrayed, make friends with the weirdo's and want to exact my revenge? I shook myself, I'm just being paranoid they're probably just gonna say hi.
The girl who asked the question stood in the middle, clearly the leader. Her prestine white teeth had me running my tongue over my own, damn I need to start brushing. "Yeah, today was my first day. I'm-"
"Alex, I know. The whole school does silly." She laughs a little and looks at her two brainless companions and they join her.
Wow. Talk about creepy. I pushed up my glasses with my ring finger, "And you guys are..?" I inquired, raising a brow.
"Katrina," the queen bee said, making me cringe at how she seemed to relish in saying her own name. "And this is Erica and Amber," she vaguely waved behind her giving me no indication on who was who. I coughed, the amount of ego in the air was overwhelming.
"We wanted to say hello, and invite you to a party I'm holding at my place tonight. Only the best of the best is coming," she bragged. "And since your new we'll throw away whatever that is that your wearing and help you out." As if I was walking around in a trash bag with tissue boxes as shoes. I concentrated on keeping a straight face. I think I'd rather listen to my mother talk about Keeping up with the Kardashians then wear the amount of pink they had on.
I smiled."Omg, thanks soooo much for inviting me and offering to show me what to wear cause like, I'm only seventeen hahah," damn my fake laugh is pretty good. "BUT, I really have to catch up with some studying. I'm trying to master Japanese before winter and I'm not too confident in my Kanji." Japanese is way harder to learn compared to Korean. It is seriously kicking my butt.
They looked at me as if I had grown several heads. Katrina backed away, her minions following suit. "Oh sweetie," her voice oozing of pity for some reason, "I thought the glasses were just decoration. I didn't realize you were a nerd."
She looked me up and down. "Tsk, its a shame. You'd look great in our cheer uniforms." And with a simultaneous hair flick, the trio walked away. I stared after them, exsqueeze me? Me? Cheerleader? I broke into a fit of laughter, gripping my stomach as I struggled to breath. HA, as if I'd ever be caught wearing a skirt. Just then I heard the sound of my moms car beep, and her voice ring out. "Alex! I'm over here! Hurry, the ice cream is melting!" Ice cream? Hell yes.
I sighed, wiping the last of the tears out of the corners of my eyes.
"What's so funny?"
I turned and saw you know who standing there in all his glory, looking at me with some hidden emotion. I paused, then spoke.
"Your face," I stuck out my tongue and then took off without a glance back.
