Chapter 33
Adam concludes the meeting and the angels and demons start heading back to their own castles for the night. As Quintana walks down the street, too tired to fly, she hears someone behind her.
She spins around and faces Wolfie.
"Aren't you supposed to be going home now?" she asks. He shrugs.
"Yeah, but I wanted to talk to you."
"About what?"
"I wanted to apologize for trying to kill you earlier. That's all."
Quintana smiles.
"That's sweet of you."
"Yeah, I'm basically maple syrup," the wolf replies. The girl laughs.
"How about we get some sleep and I'll "fight" you tomorrow?" she asks. Wolfie nods in agreement and turns into a wolf, running home with his tail wagging.
Quintana keeps walking to the castle, smiling peacefully the whole way. When she walks through the doors Jason looks at her, a confused look in his eyes.
"What's with you? And what took you so long?"
She snaps out of her trance and shakes her head.
"My wings were tired, so I walked home," she says. "And I'm just feeling really peaceful."
Jason nods and grins.
"How about we get some sleep? It's late, and we have a lot of fighting to do tomorrow."
The angel girl obliges and walks to her room. As she falls asleep, she slips into a dream.
Quintana stands amidst a raging battle. On one side, her angel brethren have their weapons out and are fighting the demons on the other side. The angels look bloodthirsty, and they're in a complete frenzy.
Notch stands beside them yelling, "Kill them! Kill the demon scum!"
"Stop it!" Quintana screams as Mitch drives his sword straight through Julie. She crumples lifelessly to the ground, blood seeping from her wound. Quintana's stomach lurches. "Mitch! Stop! You're better than this!"
No matter how much the girl screams, her siblings won't listen. One by one, demons and angels fall to the ground dead. Eventually, it's just Quintana standing there amongst the fallen angels and demons. It's horribly poetic in a sick and twisted way.
She falls to her knees and buries her face in her hands, letting the tears flow. Suddenly, she hears a voice from behind. When she turns, she's met with the glaring white eyes of Herobrine.
"Quintana, Quintana, you're all alone. Why don't you join me? Together, we can rule the world..."
"Quintana!"
The angel wakes with a start, cold sweat drenching her entire body. Tears are flowing down her cheeks. Her brothers stand in the doorway, looking at her with concern.
"What's wrong, Quin?" Adam asks. All she can do is shake her head and pull her blankets up closer.
They come and sit beside the mudkip, pulling her into a group hug. She smiles, all of her fears disappearing.
