Chapter 32

Ian lands in the town square and looks around. Shops that used to be bustling with life are abandoned. The sunny streets are now filled the clanging of swords as angels fight demons.

"Hey."

Ian spins around and comes face to face with Libby, her sword in its sheathe.

"Did Adam and Julie ask you to meet here as well?" she asks.

Ian nods.

"Hey, thanks for the book. It made my time in your dungeon much more enjoyable. Maybe, when this war is over, I can go and read some more," she suggests. Ian grins.

"Sounds great."

Libby opens her mouth to say something else, but is interrupted by wingbeats and the sound of paws against the stone pathways. The angel and demon watch as everyone except Adam, Julie, and Notch approach.

"Why are we all gathering around here?" Wolfie asks, turning into a human. "Aren't we supposed to be killing each other?"

"That's what I was going to ask Ian," Libby says, jabbing her thumb at said angel. "I was hoping he would have an explanation."

At that moment Julie, Notch, and Adam walk into the town square. Everyone watches them walk through.

"Line up. Demons on one side, angels on the other," Notch orders. They do as he tells them without hesitation, even if they're demons.

"Why do we have to be in this formation?" Khali asks.

"It's for the game plan. Now shush," Julie orders. Khali shoots her a glare, but doesn't speak again.

"Now, how many of you actually want to kill each other?" Adam asks, gesturing to the angels and demons. Wolfie starts to raise his hand, then lowers it again after a moment of thought. Adam smirks. "That's what I thought. Anyway, Julie told me that the only way that the demons are going to be free is if we kill Herobrine. That's always been the main goal for the angels, but now it's also a goal for the demons. So what we're going to do is continue to fight without killing each other and wait until Herobrine is laid back. When that happens, Ann is going to report to our castle in secrecy and tell us. Then we storm the castle and kill him. We picked Ann because she's the fastest at flying out of the demons. Now, we want all the angels to fight the same demons every day and vice versa. This way, you get to know each others fighting styles well and you have less of a chance of hurting each other accidentally."

"Why are you helping us? We've been doing our best at causing havoc for years, and now you're going to free us from Herobrine?" Libby asks.

"We're angels. Saving people is what we do best, even if those people happen to be demons," Ian replies. Libby smiles at him, and he smiles back. Mitch and Jerome both attempt to hide their teasing laughter, only to get punched playfully by Ann.
