Chapter 10

I went back to my room. I took out my sketchbook again. I started to draw me eating an apple. I drew everything around me too. The empty chairs, the windows, and even the old grandfather clock against the wall. I smiled as I drew, remembering the taste of the non-rotten apple. "So, you like drawing, but not coloring?" asked the beast.

"Yep," I responded. I started drawing the shadows.

"You hadn't seen me yet," said the beast.

"I know," I responded.

"Can I show you?" he asked. I sighed.

"Sure," I responded. I stood up. I felt a power run through my body. I felt my nails grow sharp and pointy, I looked in the mirror and saw my eyes were red. My teeth grew sharp and spikes grew down my spine. My hair turned black and black spiky wings came out of my back. I looked at myself in the mirror. I was pretty terrifying.

"Cool right?" asked the beast.

"Yeah," I responded. I walked around the room. I then tried to fly. I got about six inches high and fell. "How do I fly?" I asked. The beast snorted.

"Just like birds," he responded. I rolled my eyes.

"More details please," I told him. Another snort. "That's not helpful," I responded. He laughed really hard. "And it's not funny!" I told him.

As soon as he stopped laughing, he replied, "Okay, just flap your wings to a steady beat." I tried. "One two, one two, one two," the beast said. Soon, I was able to touch the roof.

"Look at me!" I said out loud. My smile must of been from my right to my left ear. "I can do it!" I also said out loud. I landed. "I'm ready to be normal again," I told the beats in my head. I changed back quickly. I grabbed my sketchbook and I had to draw myself. Every detail.

I heard a knock at the door. "Come in," I said. My mom came in.

"Sweet heart, we just got a letter in the mail for you. It's from your grandma, Granny," my mom said. She handed it to me an left me sitting there. I opened it and started reading.

Dear Bella,

I'm so happy you are now part of our family. I've heard great things about you already! I'm happy you enjoy this place. I'm like you, Bella. I was adopted because my family didn't want me. Things can get tough, but be strong through it all.

Love,
Granny

I smiled. She almost knows how I feel. Something happened though. I felt the earth shake a bit. Everything seemed to sway. I saw cracks running down the walls of our house. I ran out of my room. "Get out, Bella!" called my parents. It sounded like they were already outside. I ran down the stairs. A few pieces of the wall fell, almost hitting me. I tried to open the door, but a piece of the roof blocked it. I ran for the window, but something hit me in the head as the earth seemed to shake. I tried to stay awake, but I just lost all consciousness.
