Skylar
I didn't know how long I had been here, or how many of my worst fears had happened around me.
I felt small. Insignificant. Afraid. Weak. Cold.
Now, it was my mother, standing over me as I lay on the ground, trying to rid myself of the haunting words I had heard over the course of however long I had been here. I felt like I was five again, watching her leave on repeat. Only this time, Dad wasn't around.
"You were the biggest mistake I could have ever made." She glared at me. "You're the reason I'm leaving. I can't stand you."
The words echoed back through my mind.
Mistake.
Can't stand you.
You're the reason I'm leaving.
I screamed for what felt like the thousandth time.
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Please come back, Mommy, please!"
She didn't. The door slammed shut behind her, and the floor fell out from underneath me.
I landed in a darkened room that was completely empty except for one person.
Tyler stood in the corner.
"Tyler?" I asked, and he grinned.
But it wasn't Tyler's smile. It was a much crueler smile than Tyler's.
He waved, and faded from sight.
"Tyler?" I asked, a little more frantic this time.
He's only going to leave you. My thoughts spoke.
He'll leave.
Don't you remember the others?
No one could love a mistake like you.
I watched as he appeared again.
"You think you're so cool, don't you, Skylar?" He sneered. "Your mother was right. You're such a mistake."
He disappeared again.
I curled into a ball on the floor, blocking out the voices as Tyler appeared and disappeared.
"Stop it..."
"Idiot."
"Mistake."
"Why would I even like you at all?"
"Such a weakling."
"Pathetic."
I did nothing but scream, trying to drown the voices out.
***
I felt like I had been sitting there for hours, when I heard one voice that sounded the same as the others, but at the same time, different.
"Skylar."
I looked up to see another Tyler, only this one looked more concerned than the others.
"Skylar, come on, I'm gonna get you out of here."
I stayed put. He wasn't real. He couldn't be. He was going to disappear, just like all the others.
"Skylar?"
He put his hand on my shoulder.
Not one of them had done that yet.
"Don't touch me!" I yelled. "You're just going to disappear again!"
"Wait, again? Skylar, what are you seeing right now?"
"Stay...away...from me." I said, gathering whatever was left of my strength. Maybe if I got rid of the hallucinations myself, I would be rid of them completely.
I knew my sword was gone, but that didn't mean I couldn't fight him.
He tensed. "Skylar, I'm not going to fight you."
"I know you're not. You're only going to disappear. And then pop back up again, and again, and again..."
"What are you talking about?"
"I can't anymore, Tyler, I...I can't." I said.
A sword appeared on the ground in front of me, the first good sign I had seen in however long I had been trapped here.
I picked it up off of the ground, and he took a step back.
"You don't have to do this." He said. "Come on, Skylar, I know you know that it's really me!"
"No. I don't." I said. "I'm sorry."
And with those words, I swung first.
He fell backwards in an attempt to avoid it, and only received a shallow cut on his arm that tore his hoodie.
Before I could try to hit him again, he scrambled to his feet, and brought his hand to the chain around his neck.
I thought quickly, and sliced at his arm.
He pulled away as my blade cut him, and he gritted his teeth as blood began to stain his hoodie.
He expected my next swing, and he ducked, the blade narrowly missing his hair.
"Skylar, stop it, this isn't you!" He said.
"I already told you, you're not real, and I'm getting rid of you before you disappear again!"
I flipped the sword in my hand, and hit him with the butt of the sword as hard as I could. He toppled backwards, landing on the ground hard.
"I don't want to fight you!" He exclaimed.
"Good, it'll make this a lot easier." I muttered, and went to attack him again.
I aimed for the heart this time.
Yes.
Kill him.
He's only a hallucination.
You'll be free of them if you kill him.
Free from all this pain.
Just as I was about to stab him, he held up his hand to shield himself, and his sword appeared in his hand.
The blade of the sword I was holding slammed into the blade of his, and the sudden force knocked the sword out of my hands, causing it to clatter to the floor.
Could hallucinations summon Tyler's weapon?
"Skylar, I swear, it's me." He said, standing up.
I took a step backward. "I can't...I can't trust you."
"I know you can't. But I don't know how else to get you out of here then asking you to trust me."
"I've seen you appear and disappear for what feels like hours. You're just going to leave me behind. The others will too. You're all going to leave me behind just like everyone else I've ever given a crap about does."
"Your dad, he didn't leave you behind, did he?"
"There are exceptions to every rule."
"Yeah, I know. And I plan on being one of them."
I stared at him. "What?"
He walked closer to me, and this time, I didn't back away. My thoughts were struggling to reach an agreement.
It's Tyler.
It's not.
It's got to be him.
Hallucination.
Trust him!
Kill him!
"I don't know what's going to happen with this whole demon business, but I can promise you one thing."
Suddenly, he pulled me into a hug. "I'm not going to leave you behind. Never. I promise."
I felt frozen. I didn't know how to respond.
He let go of me, and held his hand out.
"Do you trust me?"
And then, I did something that was probably very stupid.
"I think so."

I'M SO SORRY THIS CHAPTER IS A WEEK LATE I FEEL HORRIBLE OH MY GOD
I hate to keep telling you this, because I feel like it sounds like a cheap excuse even though it's true, but school is kicking my butt. I have been under so much stress lately, you guys have no idea.
Hopefully, I'll be able to pull it together here and start to get chapters back to being on time like normal.
Also, no. I'm still not done internally screaming and crying over Gravity Falls. And I probably won't be for a while.
