🔹 Two 🔹

Reeve stood on the grassy field with his legs braced apart and his arms crossed over his bare chest as he watched the two youngest recruits scrimmage. He could see several flaws in their technique, but overall, they were doing good.

Several times he called out an issue and watched as both tried to correct their errors. It was also a learning process for them to take criticism without becoming defensive. In battle, they would need to follow orders without hesitation.

A second of hesitation could cost not only their lives but the lives of those around them. Training to be a warrior wasn't demanded, but it was appreciated.

Reeve's was so intent on watching the two young ones that he hadn't registered fully that Gael was shouting a warning at him. He barely managed to duck as a blur of black swooped towards him and then back up again.

"What the hell is that?" He hissed as it swooped again. This time he realized that it was a bird, a raven. Now prepared, Reeve just stood there and waited. It swooped again and landed with ease on his shoulder.

"Start calling you the bird whisperer," Gael quipped barely suppressing his humor at his own wording.

Reeve's shook his head noticing something around the raven's leg. "Something is tied around its leg. Gael come get it."

Gael hesitated but did as asked. Once he had it freed of the raven it took off and didn't come back. Frowning, Reeve took the paper from Gael and quickly read its contents.

"What is it?" Gael asked, curious.

"A request for help," Reeve's looked toward the direction the bird flew off in and frowned deeper. Why would the Reed's pack ask for help? He wondered as he read it again.

"Say's that they need assistance and that they are defenseless again attack. It wasn't signed other than a T at the bottom." Reeve's handed the letter over to Gael who also read it with a frown.

"Are we going?"

"I can't let it go if they really do need help. I'm just wondering why it wasn't Alpha Steve who sent it. He has a son but his name is Cameron, so it wasn't him who sent the letter." Reeve knew he needed to tread carefully. For all, he knew it was a trap of some kind, but even if that were the case he couldn't ignore the cry for help.

He wasn't all that close to Steve but his father had been. He had met the man several times over the years, but since his father passed he hadn't been back down that way.

"Have Beau meet me in my office. Gather Sean, Troy, Joshua, and Mark. They will be going with us. Fill them in." Reeve walked away without waiting for Gael to respond. He knew that Gael would do as told without question and he would do it quickly.

It was one of the main reason's Gael was his Beta. They had grown up together always been best friends, but it was also because Gael never questioned Reeve's orders. Reeve was known for being fair and had yet to give Gael or any of his pack members a reason to question him.

A few minutes later a knock sounded at Reeve's door, "come in." Looking up from the letter he saw Beau walk in and shut the door behind him. "I hope that Gael updated you on what's going on?"

Beau nodded, waiting for him to give him his orders. "I want you to stay behind with the pack and oversee everything in my absence."

Again Beau nodded, "how long will you be gone for Alpha?"

Frowning Reeve sat back against his chair. "I hadn't thought about it as I don't really know what we are walking into." Honestly for all he knew it was a trap of some sort. He still didn't know who this T person was.

"I will give it three days, if we need to stay longer I will send Troy or Sean back to inform you. Otherwise, if we aren't back in three day's you know what to do." His orders made clear as well as the possibility of them not coming back, Beau agreed and left the room a few minutes later.

As soon as first light hit they would head out. It would take them a day and a half if they ran fully as wolves. It would take them longer if they divided that between their human selves and their wolves.

In a distracted gesture, he fanned the letter and stopped when the scent of vanilla hit his nose. Curious he brought the paper closer and breathed deeply. Looking over the handwriting again he sighed and put the paper flat on his desk.

All his questions and curiosity would be answered soon enough.

🔹 Will try to have updates our every other day. 🔹
