"Why can't they be normal?" Cecily complained while Teaghan continued her push-ups, "idiots! What happens when rogues attack, Tea?"

Teaghan didn't disagree but decided that her sister Cecily would continue with her complaining if she didn't respond. Pushing up once more, she moved back and sat on her butt. With a huff, she wiped the sweat from her forehead.

"I don't know Cece," and she didn't. She wished she knew what happened to Alpha Steve to make him neglect his pack the way he was. It was dangerous and it was the reason Teaghan pushed herself so hard.

"Look at them," Cecily pointed, not caring if they saw her or not. Teaghan followed her pointed finger and looked at the group of male's who did nothing but dick around.

They were loud, obnoxious and honestly, pigs. "Stop pointing or else they will notice and come over to give us shit."

"Ha," her sister laughed sarcasm dripping from her expression. "They're too afraid of you to bother us. Besides, without you, we would literally be defenseless."

"I'm one person and female, Cece." Even though she hated adding the last, it was true. She may be smaller and in turn, quicker on her feet but against a large male or several and she wouldn't stand much chance.

"Perhaps, but you could take all these bastards on."

Teaghan grunted, sending her sister a warning.

"Come off it Tea. Me cussing doesn't mean I don't have respect for - well I don't have respect for anyone other than you."

"True," Teaghan stood up and stretched. She should go on her run, "Cece, want to go on a run with me?"

"I don't have anything else to do and I don't want to be left behind with these dim-wits."

Laughing at her sister's sharp tongue, Teaghan began at a slow pace giving her and her sister time to warm up. After a moment, Cecily ran faster. "Come on Tea, you getting lazy on me?"

Teaghan shook her head, knowing that it was going to come to this. Her sister was competitive and honestly a little scary when she became determined. She honestly believed that nothing could stand in her way once she decided to do something.

She must have gotten the trait from their mother. She was the same way. They ran for an hour before Cecily called quits. Normally, Teaghan would rub it in her face that she could still go one, but it was bad enough that they had to return to the pack house.

Upon their return, Cecily excused herself to go shower away the sweat and dust she had gained from their run while Teaghan went to the kitchen. Of course, she wasn't surprised that no one was making food.

Seemed lately it was a fend for yourself. It was ridiculous and not how it used to be. She wondered if it was the loss of Alpha Steve's mate that had him change into a different place overnight.

She knew how important mates were, how special they instantly were, but he still had a responsibility to his pack. She just had to continue training, she had to become stronger so that if the time came she would be able to protect her sister.

Teaghan sat at her small desk writing a letter to the closest pack within a hundred miles. The King's. She'd bet that any other Alpha wouldn't allow such a message to be sent out, but this pack was in dire need of help.

She couldn't rely on her Alpha or the seniors to protect them against invasion. She had managed to take care of a few rogues that had wandered too close to their land, but if more came she wasn't so sure she would be able to protect herself or her sister.

Hence the message to Alpha Reeve King. She had never met him and had only heard stories. He was well respected, he took care of those under his protection and above all, he was a warrior.

They desperately needed someone to help and he was her last hope, she just prayed he actually would help. For all, she knew he would rip her letter up and throw it away.

After her message was complete she looked it over once last time before sealing it. Just as she stood up and walked to the window Cecily came back in.

"what are you doing?"

"I'm hopefully getting us some help," it was all she could do not to add her prayer. Teaghan opened the window and held out her hand. Regal, her raven landed as gently as possible against her bare arm.

"You know what to do," attaching the letter to the leg of Regal, Teaghan extended her arm and watched as Regal blended into the night sky.

As her friend disappeared she closed her eyes and added yet another silent prayer. Please help us.

"Tomorrow is another day.." She whispered into the night. She crawled onto her bed, sliding under the covers and was instantly warmed by Cecily.

Teaghan wrapped her arm around her sister and closed her eyes. Exhaustion making it easy for her to drift off, but apart of her brain still registered every little sound.
